Stoped here because of the high rating, large portions. we were passing through from Dover. the owner was delightful gave us free wedges, super clean great food(real chips) also caters for gluten free separate fryer . Utterly delightful won’t hesitate to go again 10/10 from us… thank you

We just happened to be in the area travelling from Hastings. We found this amazing chip shop. It was very busy which is always a good sign. The chips were the best I have had in years, I mean truly the BEST. None of this double or triple cooked stuff. Just plain old single cooked chips. I need this place in Hastings so I can enjoy good old fish and chips more often!

I really like Chips on the Hill The staff are friendly and have a good rapport with customers. Most food is cooked to order which may mean a few minutes wait but so much better to get everything fresh,it definitely tastes better. Extensive menu with veggie options. Portion sizes are generous and prices are on the medium to lower side. Had a quarter pounder today 13/02/2024. Very tasty and old school. Lettuce, cheese and fried onions.

A 5 star venue across the board. The staff, whilst stunned, were able to accommodate my request for a fully gluten free meal on the fly, was prepped and cooked within 30 minutes and was served with a smile (although for future GF orders they have kindly asked that I ring and confirm ahead of time). The food was fairly priced and fantastic. The gluten free batter was light, crunchy and no where near as greasy as its glutenous counterpart. Will definitely be returning for my Friday night fishy fix.

Freshly cooked food, friendly staff, lots to choose from and dedicated fryers for their gluten free menu. Our two family members who are coeliac have eaten and enjoyed many meals safely from here 😀Recommended 👍

Chips on the Hill is my favourite local fish and chips shop. The owners are lovely and have been there for years. They tend to cook your order fresh so you'll wait a few minutes but it's worth it to get that fresh cooked taste. Their menu is quite extensive and there are good options for vegetarians. Price wise, they are very fair given the increase in prices. Oh, forgot to mention that you can get a deep fried Mars bar or Oreos. Gooey and very tasty but definitely an occasional treat.

Second time we've been here in as many years. Food great both times. Great service, good fish and chips. Big menu. Parking on hill outside.( Make sure your handbrake works) Will probably be back soon when we visit the dockyard in Chatham again but may phone ahead this time so we don't have to wait- not that it was a long wait, it wasn't, it's just that that's what everyone seemed to be doing.

Favorite place to go for chips. Don't really mind the prices as you can certainly do a lot worse in terms of chip shops. Best food in the local area though, and always hot and fresh. Staff are quick in there and very friendly. There is a £6 minimum card spend imposed. Seeing as cash can only be drawn out in 10s, it can feel a bit "all or nothing" if you just fancy a bag of chips and don't have a few quid change on you for it. Overall though, can't be beaten.

Fish and chips were good. Fish was better than most places around Medway and had a nice flavour to it. At £9.30 for medium cod and small chips though, it’s not the best value chippy out there.

Ok we all know the cost of living has gone up but this chip shop is charging a fortune for fish and chips blaming the cost of living while having a massive extension on the rear of the building !! So I’ll let you do your homework. Well done for ripping off all your local customers

This is our regular. Always greeted with a friendly welcome. Quick service (I tend to phone order through). Food is very good quality. Nice batter!

Amazing chips and the fish was nicely cooked.

Finished 6 12hr shifts at Medway maritime hospital.... 2 large cod and chips (&curry sauce). It took 10 mins to order... Then wait.. and wait... Friday night rush hour... Nothing ready. After 20 minutes more, I gave up and went home....

Friendly staff, lovely food & generous portions!

Up there with the best chips in Rochester for me. It does take a while to get served but always worth the wait. Only downside is it’s a nightmare to park but again it’s worth trying to find a spot or parking a little further away and walking to get your chips.

Had roe & chips which was lovely, my husband had sausage & chips & my little niece had the children's nuggets & chips with a fruit shoot, good value for money, definitely recommend.

Amazing place. They have gluten free options which my friend was super happy about and they were really careful about it and lovely. The fish was delicious, we also tried the spam fritter, jumbo sausage, and we bought so much they gave us some free wedges! The only thing I would say is the chips need a bit longer in the fryer but you could probably ask for that. Prices are very decent too!

It's always worth seeking out chippys that are off the tourist trail and so it proved again. In the middle of a housing estate away from the castle and town. Some of the best fish and chips we've had. Very friendly, good customer service good prices.

By far the best Chip shop in Medway. Always travel here despite other chippies being closer. Great burgers, lovely spam fritters and good quality food. Also the only place i know that will do a battered saveloy!

My Misses had the gluten free option as she is dairy intolerant and I had the normal fish and chips, both portions were a good size, really really fresh and full of flavour. Would highly recommend and will definitely call in on our next visit to the area.

Best chips and amazing that they care enough to do a gluten free section. They deal perfectly with allergen customers and handle the food with great care. They use a separate frier unlike a lot of other places. Have had everything from that section of the menu. Really good food and service. They are always very chatty.

After a short wait outside the fish shop I ordered a large chips, cod and cheese and onion pasty for just over £11. The staff were really friendly and the food was cooked fresh to order. The cod was cooked perfectly in a crispy batter and the portion of chips was ample for sharing.

Feel guilty as have always used the Delce for last 15 years but these are the best around.

I've tried almost every Fish and chip shop in Medway Kent, but I came upon this one (Chips on the Hill ) Cecil Road Rochester Kent, quite by chance and Wow, what a fabulous, clean and friendly place. The Large Cod and chips that I bought were out of this world, and at a sensible price, perfectly cooked, and not full of grease like most of the others. Give them a try, but I must warn you, they are busy , but well worth the short wait. Top Mark's, Phil Bevens. ( Fussy eater).

The best chip shop in the world

1st time trying this chippy. Was looking forward to gluten free fish and chips for my coeliac daughter. Unfortunately our food was very greasy and the fish almost non existent and overcooked in thick batter. The gluten free meal was similar but with a lighter style batter. Maybe we were unlucky, but I have to say we were disappointed.

Food is hot fresh and delicious

Good customer service skills and the food in general was fine. Only issue was the 2 savaloys.. they tasted like they had been in the hot counter for 2 weeks as they was very hard, had to throw them away.

A great Take Away for Cod and Chips - pie and chips and chicken and chips we have the cod and chips at least twice a month and chicken and chips twice a month then an occasional pie and chips always good.

Had to feed a twelve people one evening, who were organising a conference at the community centre. Food was ready in 15 minutes. The organisers commented on quality of food, especially the cod.

Placed order at 5-15 for 6 arrived at six to be told wont be ready for ten minutes ?????

Had a Dr,s appointment it's was running late, came out thought I have not had cod an chips for a long time,so drove up the road and went in chips on the hill, have had two meals from there ,must say both times they have been 10 out of 10, must remember to use it more often , chips were lovely, and the cod was one of the best piece,s I have had, cooked to perfection, thank you very much
