Nice staff, excellent fish and chips (and wine). Just arriving from the Netherlands was this a real warm welcome to Folkestone

It's usually good here, but seems to be slipping lately. Grilled tomato was green and undercooked, Gammon was undercooked and tough. I think when the owners have changed shift with Nightshift staff standards slip.

It was ok. The staff are very affable

I will NOT be coming here again, pay for chips and they get put in some crappy little bag that split 2 minutes down the road, wasting my money

Good fish and chips at a reasonable price, friendly staff and quick service at non peak times, a bit of a wait at busy times because fish is cooked to order.

Lovely piece of cod, with a very lite batter. With chips and mushy peas,bread roll with real butter and a lovely coffee ☕. Good value for money 👍

Just out shopping and decided to stop at Papa's for lunch, have been before, the fish and chips are the best in Folkestone, the service is always friendly and helpful and not overpriced. Will definitely go back when in town, very good fish and the chips are Not frozen.

Friendly welcome on arrival. Seat for one by the window. Menu with a nice selection of fish. Windows into the kitchen are a good sign. I ordered Haddock and chops with mushy peas; cooked to order. Lovely crispy batter and flaky fish. Devoured it all. Followed it up with Treacle sponge and custard. Very nice atmosphere with attentive waitresses.

Easily one of the best fish and chip restaurants in the whole of Kent. They do a selection of smaller meals for people with a little tum. One of my favourites is fish bites and chips! Always places to park nearby and they offer takeaway, dine-in and delivery.

I’m not being hyperbolic when I say the takeaway fish & chips that I ate in the car was quite possible the best I have had. Haddock cooked fresh in a light, crispy batter & excellent chips with mushy peas on the side.

We were staying for a few days in Folkestone, needed to find somewhere for an evening meal. Papa's fish & chips looked ideal from the outset. It looked clean and welcoming and is a restaurant, not just a takeaway. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. They accomodated our odd little requests such as wanted our tea AFTER we'd eaten. The ambiance in the restaurant area is like a nice pub. The main event, the food, is superb. Lovely cod and chips. The menu offers a lot of variety and some great value for money deals. I definitely recommend everything about it.

When in Folkestone we always head for Papas to eat in. I’ve eaten fish and chips in many places but these remain the best. Fish is tasty and well cooked and the batter light and crispy, chips are cooked and browned and not in the slightest bit greasy. The cafe is spotlessly clean and the staff are lovely. A real gem.

Very busy meaning the food is fresh and quick turnover . The fish and chips I had were lovely. The fish was straight from the frier to package. Reasonably priced. Extremely, pleasant mature lady serving who was welcoming, friendly and efficient . The very handsome , designer bearded chef also pleasant . If you're wanting fish and chips / chip shop food this a great place to go.

Correct place, tasty scampi and OK portions. A little expensive that said, with 2 adults and 2 children we got away with it for £50 all the same.

An excellent fish and chips restaurant in Sandgate Road, with a take away at the front and the restaurant along a corridor at the back. A good selection of fish available woth chips, mushy peas and sauces just as I like it. The restaurant area was clean, with friendly and efficient service.

Really enjoyed the food and choices available! One of the servers is a little bit grumpy at times and could do with a smile here and there, I can't say much about the atmosphere as it was a take away could do with some chairs while you wait

An impromptu visit to the beach ended with my dog dragging me to the chip shop. I just ordered the mini cod and chips as it was lunchtime and it was lovely. The fish was fresh from the fryer and it was perfect portion. Yes, my dog got a few chips too!

Place your order and then watch and wait for ages while telephone orders and Uber drivers just push in and get their food before you !😢

A good fish & chips with quite a choice of fish (cod, haddock, skate, salmon...), shrimp and squid. The fish is fresh, the fries are good and the portions are generous. We also enjoyed the coleslaw (to have a bit of vegetables ;)) and the pea puree. Smiling and very friendly service. A nice fish & chips with a good choice of different fishes. Friendly service.

Service is excellent. The choice of either fillet or tail is not common for fish and chip restaurants. The batter was crispy and the fish was tasty. We have cod, large chips, scampi, 2x wallies 2x pickled eggs (I love pickled eggs and these are very good) can of cream soda and loads of tartar sauce. Highly recommended.

Popped in for a bite to eat with our grandchildren. We ordered two jumbo cod and chips. Fish was really tasty, we all enjoyed it.

Bought large haddock and a portion of chips for dinner yesterday, £9.70 fish only £ 3.70 chips only. Very dis-appointing, plenty greasy batter and little fish, chips very greasy also. Expensive, I expect seagulls would agree.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere peaceful with some music and radio in the background at a low volume. You could see some of the usual customers enjoying themselves and catching up with the staff and that was so wholesome to see! Fish was delicious :) Note: eat the small chips first so you don't burn yourself

We've been 2-3 times now for lunch (+ one takeaway). We've enjoyed really good fish &chips, service from a lovely lady and reasonable prices. Our grandkids love it too and always clear their plates. Can't beat it.

Incredible! First of all, the people for very kind, gracious, and helpful. They answered all of our American questions. Papa’s has some of the best fish I’ve ever tasted. I usually dunk my fish in plenty of ketchup, but this was delicious eating it as is. The chips were decent, but the biggest delicious surprise was the banana fritter! WOW!! Get it with maple syrup and you can thank me later. We had two three fish specials, one fritter, and a bottle of Tango, and spent less than 13£.

Great Fish & Chips (plus lots of other things) and always freshly cooked. Very good service. We use Papas regularly, both for take Away and family meals.

Lovely little place. Service was excellent and we sat outside and ate at a couple of bistro tables they have on the pavement. They have a really good value for money option with a tray of 1, 2 or 3 small fish fillets with chips. I had 2 small fish fillets with chips for £3.30, you can't beat that!

Absolute Empfehlung für Fish and Chips, wenn man in der Gegend ist, das war richtig lecker. Man kann aus vielen verschiedene Fischsorten wählen. Das Restaurant hat noch andere Speisen auf der Karte, die haben wir aber nicht probiert. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und eine gute Atmosphäre.

Visited today for my nans 90th birthday with my family. Staff amazing, especially lady with dark hair and glasses who accommodated us with a pram, high chair and walking stick as soon as we walked through the door. Nothing too much trouble. Food was good and very reasonably priced. We all enjoyed. Just overall a lovely place to visit with the family. Have also been before and felt a very warm welcome. Will 100% return.

Was plesnent service and a clean place to eat food was made to order. The fish comes with skin on so if you don't want skin on you will have to ask for it taking off.

Very disappointed as I've seen most of the reviews here rated it 5*. Over priced fish & chips (£13.50) comes with no beans or peas or sauce 🤔. Average taste and the JUMBO cod is just a normal portion of fish & chips... Not for me

Called in when travelling through,nice lady serving,but took ages to get the fish,that’s when I knew I’d spent over twenty quid for nothing,chips old and the fish batter was actually burnt,the seagulls loved them

Fantastic fish and chips. The fish is incredibly fresh and the batter is perfectly cooked through with no raw bits at all. The staff were really helpful and kind as well. Will deffo revisit this place when I'm next in town.

2 of us had lunch here, quite busy for a Thursday, we had a choice of 2 tables. The food that was ordered was served quickly and politely, with a bit of a throw back to school dinners, as we both had spam Fritters and chips, tasted just how we remembered it. Definitely go back again just for that even though the menu was the usual fare for a fish restaurant.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips. The fish was so fresh, as well as well cooked and the crust so crisp, not oily at all! I think it's the best I ever had, this is why ate the whole thing. By the way, medium portion is very filling. Even though we went around closure, the quality of service was very good. Well done!

The food here is really nice and I can't fault the quality. However, you seem to get a lot less for your money now and it is seriously overpriced. £4.60 for a large chips is disgusting.

Great place. I've walked past it loads of times. Staff are all genuinely lovely. Food is spot on and pretty good value. This time I had scampi and chips which came with fresh salad. The best scampi I've ever had.
