Ossie's Fish Bar in Swale

It was the Hop Fest and they was BUSY, but still the food was fresh cooked and super tasty. We did wait a bit, but there was a lot of people getting fish and chips and all saying how nice it was. Well done to the busy staff on a warm day behind the cooker.

From my personal experience time and time again, and supported by the feedback from my out of town guests, this is one of the BEST fish and Chip shops in England! The Fish is always tender and moist, with a crunchy batter, The chip portions are extremely generous, and the staff are very pleasant and greet you with a smile.

I decided to treat my self to pie and chips for my tea not had a chippy tea in months ,and to say I'm absolutely disappointed disgusted with the chips it's obvious they've been reheated from lunch time they're dry hard and taste disgusting,my pie too was so hard I could actually bite into it What a waste of £6.50 I won't be going in there again the pie was very hot chips tepid so binned them Should've remembered the last time I went in , only ate half the pie as started feeling sick so wouldn't eat anymore Definitely will be swerving this chippy in future

Avoid unless you want your money stolen. They will try to con you any way possible. Thieves. Go anywhere else!

Cod and chips. Waited for the fish to be freshly cooked which I always do. Must be cooked While you wait. Tasty.

I have used this shop before occasionally but have never been impressed with the fish. (dry) Chips are ok. Really wanted some fish n chips because it was the only one open on a Sunday evening. Fish was already cooked,, under the heat lamp. Probably been under the heat for ages . Fish was incredibly DRY. ABSOLUTELY Awful. Left half of it. Need to wait for it to be freshly cooked I think. Can only give it one star. Waste of money. Threw half away. I DONT RECOMMEND IT .

Ordered by phone and when we arrived they gave us some chips while they packed everything up. These are great chips. Best I’ve tasted in a while. We had cod and a selection of pies with the chips. Very enjoyable.

Absolute disgusting re cooked reheated chips , Fancied a treat and went in order battered jumbo and chips ,was told waiting on chips,I waited good 10/15 mins expecting freshly cooked chips ,get home un wrapped and was greeted with re fried chips that were simply uneatable battered sausage was plain ,and the only eatable thing ,what a waste of £8.80 In future I will go in the swan and enjoy a fresh cooked meal !!! Totally disgusted good job bin men not been yet today as these going straight in food bin

Been having fish and chips from here for many years and just love the place. Good, honest fish-n-chips with great service and usually quick too even when busy. if there are no large fish, always get a couple of good sized mediums instead, and usually a few "extras" thrown in! Chip mountain at every visit! Would go back every time and even though the other fish-n-chip shops in Faversham and Ospringe are good, Ossie's is a tradition and never fails to be the best....

How friendly they were! Walked in, hadn’t even ordered and was welcomed with some free chips whilst waiting. Food tasted amazing! Would definitely recommend.

Always fresh fish and super large freshly cooked chips. They even offer you a small sample of chips while you wait! Never had a bad meal from here and I've tried most of the local chips shops but this remained the go to one in Faversham. Try it you wont be disappointed.

We stopped off yesterday for some fish and chips and like the last time we went there before the second lockdown our meals were excellent. They were cooked from fresh and delicious.

Not been here for some time fish was soggy the chips cold as was the service. Felt very sorry for a young lad who only had 50p and asked for a few chips needless to say he was told where to go.Would not use this...

Popped in one saturday afternoon to share a bag of chips. Was pleasantly surprised as the chips were absolutely gorgeous. Not sure how they do them but I will make this my regular from now on.

Could not pass by Ossies Fish Bar without popping in. Chips while you wait for your freshly prepared Fish and Chips. Very generous with the chips. The left over chips are re fried 2 or even 3 times tasting even better with less calories apparantly. Great treat. Cheery helpfull staff too.

We use this fish bar regularly. It’s almost certain to be open when others are closed. It’s an average. Good value friendly stop off for us. Whether late after a beer. Or morning after shopping. If you have to wait for your order. You are offer given a few chips to eat whilst waiting (free). They also provide a good selection of additional fried foods.

It's as good as you get and overly generous with the chips! BUT, no gluten free batter, what a shame. Ossies would get 20% more trade if they offered rice flour batter for wheat intolerant customers.

Really slow service. 15mins wait for fish and chips which are sat in the heated cabinets for you to admire while you stand in queue after ordering. Food ok nothing amazing

This is a popular Fish and Chip shop. Went on a Friday evening and had to wait over 20 minutes for my order, was very busy and they did apologise for the wait.

Called in on our way back to our Hotel, we had spotted this fish shop earlier in the day as it was ‘market day’ in Faversham and we were having a stroll. I have to say very nice, I ordered two small fish & chips and mushy peas. The portions were to big even for the ‘small’ and we were both unable to finish it, which was a shame, our neighbours in the next room saw what we were having for dinner as we were enjoying it outside on the decking, and then they also popped in to town to purchase the same !

We went to Ossie's with a very large walk-in order. Understandably, we had to wait a little while, but the staff were fab. They gave us a small cone of chips to eat while waiting, and added a few freebies when packing up our order. The fish and chips were delicious, and the staff were fantastic. Shop nice and clean. Very highly recommended. PS. Chip portions are huge! 3 'large' portions fed 10 of us!

Ossie’s used to be amazing with such lovely food but for the last few visits it has been awful. We popped in quickly for chips, battered sausage, saveloy and small cod. The other half wanted a large battered sausage and said he would wait for them to be cooked when the man said they would be a few minutes. Once they were cooked the man then gave him 2 small ones and a normal small sausage. They were so old and dry when he tasted them. The saveloys were stone cold and rubbery and the Cod.. it was cold, as dry as a bone and completely tasteless as well. £14 wasted on a lunch we didn’t eat. Definitely won’t be wasting any more money in here.

Very good chip shop. Food is excellent. If food is gd i will travel to enjoy my meal. Family like it here too

Have always purchased a bag of chips ( and sometimes more ) from Ossies whilst shopping in Faversham. Have always been more than happy with the food and service. Even though we were early today, the portion of chips was awful. We had a takeaway portion, and after raving about the food to my two friends, we were really disappointed with the chips we had today ( tasted like they were left over from yesterday ). After eating just a few of the chips, we had to throw them away. They were terrible. After spending £2.40p for a medium sized portion of chips, i felt truly let down. Will not use this particular chippy again. Also, the staff should not talk in their own language whilst customers are in the shop, especially as i speak Turkish.

I ate this for Late lunch or early Supper or as real britts say Tea lol I waa full for two days delicious Cod, beer nattered mushrooms and english onion rings. Yummy!

Easily the best place for fish and chips in Faversham. Even when busy, it doesn't feel a chore to wait as they usually give you some 'free' chips to keep you going!

This is my local chippy and I have used it many times and they never disappoint. Perfectly cooked fish and chips, usually done to order with a free small portion of chips given while you wait.

There are fish and chip shops and then there is Ozzy's, I can't eat battered sausages from anywhere else as they just don't compare and should you have to wait for your order ( well worth the wait) they usually give you a few freshly cooked chips to wet your appetite yummy. Also during busy periods I am always amazed at how many orders some members of staff can remember, it's like watching a magic act.

Fantastic food - the chips are never soggy but really crispy, you even get a small portion while you wait for your order. The fish is cooked to perfection, moist and the batter has lots of flavour. You can tell from how busy it is that it's everyone's favourite local chippie!

Just an ordinary looking chippie, but easily the best in the area and excellent by any standards. The owner is so friendly and will usually give you a free small bag of chips to assuage you hunger whilst you wait. Quality is excellent and portions large.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and would definately return. Random visit as not local but wouldn't hesitate to suggest others to visit. Great value for money, super fast service and lots of choice for everyone.

Usually have no problems with Ossies. Purchased large haddock and chips. The chips were good however when forked back the batter the fish smelt 'off' or not fresh. I didn't taste the fish but have eaten and cooked enough fish to know this piece was past its best. Big disappointment.

Went to Faversham Car Show Sunday 14/05/2017, bought a bag of chips for £1.60, and they were absolutely disgusting, they were old potatoes and tasted foul!! Whilst in the shop I sorted through the chips, for my 10 year old Grandson, and threw away about 30% of them with black ends on them!! When we got outside he ate about half of what was left, and chucked the rest away!!Yes I know we should have took them back, but the shop was full (Poor Mugs), and everything was fast and furious inside the shop, and we didn't want to queue again!!They were "OLD STOCK POTATOES" and should have been thrown out by the owner!! Would we buy here again? DEFINITELY NOT!

Really massive portions of both fish and chips. I ordered cod and the fillet was whale sized! Bothe the fish and the chips were excellent. The staff very friendly and even offered us free chips while we waited. We will certainly be going back

Easily the best fish and chips in Faversham. Always friendly and will give you or your children drinks or wedges whilst you wait. Food is always piping hot and delicious. My eldest child loves the 'fish bites' which are sort of like nuggets but no doubt better for him! Easy to see why this place does so well. Won't go anywhere else! X

Ossie's is continuously good value for money. Friendly staff, great service, quality food. Does get very busy because everyone wants to go there. How he remembers all the orders is beyond me.

Big portions for fair prices. Ossies is the place to go to for Fish and Chips in Faversham. Busy at peak times as they are very popular, so come preparing to queue. If you are lucky you may get a free small cone of chips to keep you going while waiting, which is nice, but don't count on it!

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the in just what all good chips should be not dripping with grease so the paper gets soaked through, wonderful friendly service seems they are all very happy in their work and I am so glad they are as it shows in the food they serve believe me when I say I'm funny about chips and do not like a lot so when I find ones I like they must be good. Having said that it is not only their chips that are good everything our family had was good it was freshly cooked so not soggy or just warm which makes a change the fish had a wonderful crisp batter on and the fish itself was fresh, white and absolutely full of flavour would I recommend it yes I definitely would for both the food and the service

Not only are these great fish & chips, but they are large portions & great value. We took them away to eat in the countryside. My wife wanted plaice while the rest of us wanted cod. My wife was even given a cod with her plaice, and she was so pleased. This in particular is very memorable to me as she was killed in a car crash the next day.

Having grown up on fish and chips, I must say this is one of the best I've had! Crispy light batter and meaty fresh cod. Delicious! Chips were a little crispier then I like, but that's personal preference. My partner loved them! Good value for money and scraps while you wait. Will be eating here again soon!

A long queue is always a good sign at a fish and chop shop and it was worth the wait. Large cod and chips was just that and was freshly cooked. Very friendly staff who made everyone feel welcome.

I have lived outside Faversham for 14 years & used ossies fish bar many many times the staff are very polite always a good service . If you visit Faversham a must try.

The cod and fries I had were cooked crispy and reasonable fast. At 6.90 BP not a particular cheap eat. The atmosphere is fast food-ish and very loud. Next time I'll rather take out.

This is a really popular chippy we use this quite often when we visit. Food is very good and the fish is well cooked and the batters crispy. This is the only chippy I've been to that whilst waiting in the queue they offer out a few chips. Very friendly staff. This shop is a takeaway but there is a same shop run by same people in another shop with a sit down restaurant nearby.

If you are hungry this is a good fish and chip shop as their portion size is generally very good. It is centrally placed and easy to get to and we think it is probably the best in Faversham.

Light crispy batter on my Rock, my partners haddock was huge. Chips were fresh and tasty non greasy. Table service with friendly staff.

the fish was very fresh, the batter was light and crispy. it was also huge.the chips were perfectly cooked and there were lots of them.all served with a big smile.open on sundays, too (this is unusual where I live).highly recommended.

Very friendly staff. And a well established 'chippie'. Very friendly staff. It can get very busy in the evening..... and sometimes the queue may stretch outside the door. The portions of chips are very large. As are the fish portions. At busy times they offer you little bags of chips to eat while you wait. Which is a nice touch. Food is not greasy.. And chips are crisp. Not soggy.

I don't normally go to a fish and chip shop to watch customer service. However i really love going here and watching the staff interact with clients and how they get clients to return time after time. The service is just extra-ordinary and i love the fact they give every client a little portion of chips to eat as you wait for your order. I love hearing them say 'a big portion for the gentleman' or 'A big chicken wing for the gentleman', when in actual fact it is a normal size. It makes you feel special though and is a lovely touch

What a shame this place was great for fish and chips but tonight we were very disappointed as cod was overcooked, dry and chewy. Quite unusual for fish to be chewy. Chips were dry too. Second time this has happened and have had marvellous fish for ages from here so something's changed.

Tough overcooked fish that had been in warming oven God knows how long. Normally v good when we lived in faversham so were v disappointed when we visted relatives. Inedible really so we threw away. Obviously we normally must have got freshly cooked but don't serve it if been in warming bit ages. Or something has changed .......

I would not usually take to the internet to rave about a chip shop,however.... This is one of the most delicious places I have ever been to. It is clean, the food is never greasy, the guys who works there are really kind and friendly. Most importantly they have a huge range of different delights to try and will happily grill your fish if you prefer. Just the best
