Oscars in York

We booked for 5 people at 17.15 in order to make the theatre at 19.30. We told the server and ordered food and drink right away. After 1 hours wait we were told the food would be a further 20 mins. It really spoilt our night making the arrival at the theatre very stressful as we have a family member with mobility issues. Average food finally arrived. I hope they can get turned around it’s a lovely room.

We visited Oscars for lunch on Saturday as we have done on several occasions in the recent past. This occasion the food was amazing as it normally is. Service was polite and attentive. Decent size portions and very reasonably priced. Not sure if the rock music playlist belonged at 12.15, and I am a rocker at heart too. Nonetheless less we had another brilliant visit. See you again soon.

Spent a really lovely evening at Oscar's with friends from work. Food was piping hot and very speedy at arriving at table. Would thoroughly recommend. Thank you.

We eat here semi-regularly and as always the food and service was great. The staff went out of their way to assist us with access (one of our couple is an ambulant wheelchair user) and stored the wheelchair for us, as well accommodating us with seating preferences (lower lit area/quieter). Both our meals were super tasty - chicken royale burger & spicy bean burger - and the service was prompt and super friendly. It makes such a difference when we are met with a calm, no fuss and no bother approach to supporting our access needs; this doesn't happen everywhere and can make us feel like an inconvenience and really uncomfortable. Big thanks to your staff. Would absolutely recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We've been coming to Oscar's when we visit York for over 30 years now. Both new premises and Stonegate yard. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff and the food has never disappointed. Keep doing what you’re doing!

Random find, but I'm really glad we did! Husband was quite hungry and we ended up here - which we thoroughly enjoyed! Drinks menu is a great variety and the food menu really gives you variety on what dishes they have including - starters, mains and desserts. Staff were really helpful, prompt and extremely pleasant - really great service and we had quite a full belly when we left! Not a regret - it's a lovely place to have a few drinks with some lovely food too!

Lovely food, great portions, hot and well presented. We visited on 14/8 around 7pm we were so impressed with the staff especially a lovely young girl long brown hair.. so attentive even though she was rushed off her feet.. she couldn’t do enough and always checking all was ok and if we needed anything. Bar man was really attentive too. 15/8 around 8pm we decided to visit again as was so good. A totally different experience because of lazy staff. Same food, couldn’t fault at all.. staff just chatted to eachother, no offer of more drinks or checking in on customers. Shame because the staff previous evening were perfect to host such a great restaurant.

Good value tasty burgers and attentive staff. Tip for the kitchen … don’t place the full chip basket on top of what was already an apology of salad leaves. Warm lettuce isn’t nice. Place a bit drafty but we kept our coats on.

Sally has been the friendliest server of the post-covid era. The vibe of the bar has been unrivalled anywhere in York. Excellent bar, highly recommended!

Absolutely superb atmosphere as we sat outside due to post Covid reopening. The music was "banging"!! The food was absolutely delicious and decent coffee too. My friends drank quite a lot of wine, shots and the odd cocktail too.I have not been to York for years and as I was visiting a friend for the weekend we popped put for lunch. The staff were friendly and efficient and the set up for seating, serving and drinking was spot on. The only suggestion I would make is to get some heaters or blankets if eating has to be outside for much longer as we were freezing.Strongly recommend Oscar's

Had an amazing experience at the outdoor seating area of this place! Few drinks with good people good atmosphere as well! Brad on the outdoor bar has amazing hospitality skills he was non stop making sure everyone had drinks and were happy, highly recommend this bar to my friends and family!
