Worst chinese meal we have ever had. Very disappointed 😞

For many years we have enjoyed this Chinese restaurant. However last week we noticed a marked difference in quality of food and portion sizes. Smaller chicken balls. Very little chicken in chicken fried rice and hardly any egg in egg fried rice!! Is there a change of staff/management? Not sure I’ll be going again.

Used to be our favourite Chinese but that is no longer the case. Ordered food and was told one hour for delivery - two phone calls after that hour had been and gone, finally 45 minutes later it turned up … cold. Food not that good either and the less we say about the chips the better - dry as a bone and rock solid covered in black bits. Will be going elsewhere from now on and suggest you do the same.

Ordered a takeaway at 18.40 to be delivered at 19.30 which arrived at 19.55 25 mins late and no apology. Food was luke warm and had to heat up. Ordered Singapore Vermicelli heat was one 🌶️ one mouthful and the heat was unbearable more like a 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ to the point all the other food was tasteless which ruined a family takeaway night in and £60 out of pocket. Never again will I order from here again

Have been eating here for nearly 2 years Had a few bad meals from them, said they would give me a free meal never did. The last straw was tonight ordered 8 dishes 1 was chicken chop suey and vey disappointed to see white noodles some chicken and sweet and sour sauce. That’s definitely not a chop suey we have ever come across . Called up to be told sorry I’m not the chef Great response

A somewhat jaded restaurant area and a very old fashioned bar but a friendly service and the food was truly lovely.

I do enjoy this takeaway place and have tryed a range of there foods and have been coming there over 2 years but the only few down falls are the food can somtimes come warmish and one of there drivers can be very rude and not say hi or bye and has attuide. But there food is worth it tho!

This is the 2nd time we have ordered and delivery was quicker than stated, very good size portions, very tasty. Plenty for next day for snack.

Always great food from here! Chicken chow mein you can tell is done in a properly seasoned Wok, unlike a lot of other Chinese restaurants in Basingstoke. Also, chips are always hot and crispy and if you like Dim Sum they do some of the best Dim Sum in Basingstoke.

Very improved food, currys are delicious and prawn crackers are the best in town.

Not impressed. I ordered Cantonese Roast Pork. It was inedible. Bland no flavour at all. The pork was so dry I could not chew it. The noodles and sauce had no flavour either. So disappointed. I called them to complain the man I spoke to just laughed and tried to say maybe it wasn't too my taste. Hilarious it was dry bland and disgusting. I didn't even get offered a refund. He said he will have a word with the chef. Really!!!!!!! No he won't. He has no intention of talking to the chef. I will never order from them again. Would not give it to my dog.

We have finally found our chinese! Food was lovely and full of flavor. Hot and plenty to feed us two times over. Easy parking Would definitely recommend.

I cannot praise them enough I have a serious allergy to pork. I had informed them and recieved a call to say one of the dishes had pork in it. They could not have been more considerate if they tried.

Recieved a delivery on 28.07.2021 of the set menu for 3 I must tell you it was absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend this meal, delivered on time extremely hot and very tasty. Thank you very much to the whole team at Oriental Garden.

Had a takeaway last night it was awful- crispy duck was overdone, pancakes wafer thin so broke up, the cucumber was slimy and off. Crackers tasted stale the only thing all but greasy was the spring roll which was ok. Sorry cant recommend.

Food is good. But tonight was 45 mins late and cold it had been out for delivery for 30 mins before I got it won't use again. 🙃

3 hours 55 minutes and numerous phone calls later and our order has still not arrived, and we've now been told they can't give us a refund as the one person who can process refunds has "popped out" so can we phone back again in half an hour or so. Absolutely appalling. We understand it's a busy night but if you can't fulfill orders placed why accept the orders, or at least why not tell us when we phoned after it had been 2 hours to say it was nowhere near being done and offer us a refund. It's now 21:35, we've had no dinner, and they are refusing to do anything. ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED!

We ordered take away yesterday as we was extremely tired after long day at work, my fiancé ordered soup for me which was the biggest mistake ever I found bug in side the worse was that I ate a bit of this soup before I noticed this insect... tried called to restaurant no answer, straight away after eating felt extremely sick and keep being sick during the night that was they most disgusting meal what I had In my whole life if you need to go there think twice not recommended at all

Always our go to Chinese. Easy to use website which has online ordering. Order of chicken curry, satay skewers, salt and chilli chicken and crispy chilli beef. Have previously had vermicelli special noodles, chicken in black bean sauce, spring rolls - all have been very nice and they will leave out anything you do not want (partner is a fussy eater).

Used Oriental Gardens for the first time last night for a takeaway. Easy to use website to order, so a bonus not to have to keep redialling a busy number. Can select a delivery slot. And this was delivered bang on time ! Food was good. One of my biggest issues with food is oil/ greasy. And none of it was ! Pancake roll was perfect, not greasy, full of bean sprouts that had a crunch, probably one of the best I've had. Kung Po chicken, Vermicelli noodles, sweet & sour chicken, etc, all very good. The only negative is it could have been hotter, but its a takeaway... will definitely be using again & recommend..

Honestly the supermarket Chinese meal for 2 is nicer than the food here. Sweet and sour is clearly from a jar, food is soggy and lacking in flavour. Turned up like warm. First time I've ever eaten something that physically put me in a bad mood. Just awful. Would not recommend, will definitely be sticking with Tang restaurant in future. Much better quality food.

Got our first ever takeaway from here tonight and it’s safe to say we weren’t disappointed. Food was lovely and the portion sizes were great. Got a 1/4 of crispy aromatic duck as part of our meal and was so impressed with how much duck we got. Will definitely be returning.

We started using this delivery service during lockdown when I usual one wasn’t available. We have not been disappointed at all. We have always ordered online and the delivery has arrived sooner than the estimated delivery time. The food is tasty and hot when it arrives. We have used it three or four times now and always been pleased.

Unfortunately, we are very dissapointed with your level of customer support and delivery. Since we are your loyal customers, we are unpleased to see the reaction of every person (video recorded and Phone call to Manager too). First, the food came different (for the second time!), secondly, both Lady driver and Manager on the Phone pretended they do not speak English AND Forgot about US!!! in 10 minutes after we called! And you change prices after order completion! Why should I dictate my number of card twice to Pay extra to what is written?? Is it a selection of fulls to whom you show disrespect or what? I pass this information to our MP if no response comes from your side. And I would not recomend this place because of personnel who just asks to dictate the card number! Been ordering food like twice per week and now should look for alternatives. My recomendaction is to hire a Customer Servixe Representative and respond to every customer so they return back to you next time.

I have been ordering with them for quit a while now and I order food this evening after half 7 I knew my area was a five pound delivery charge but then I get a call saying they don't delivery here etc so I will not be ordering with oriental garden again

Sat 8th Feb, we have used this place for some time now, probably 2 years....Last nights food i have to say was so poor.We only ordered standard Chinese !!The sweet and sour sauce was just red water, awful, the Pork balls were like marbles, so small and hard, our main dish of Chicken Sichuan was watery and spicy but no flavour,Rice very dry too, really shocked as always received a good standard of food.....They may have changed the chef or something, but that will be our last order unfortunately....Minden Close

ordered for the first time,because of all the good reviews,food was very disappointing chips were hard and cold prawn toasts were rock hard,and my sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style the sauce was tasteless and watery whole thing was a wash out!!

This is the best Chinese I've ever used. The food is delicious, fresh and reasonably priced. Phone an order through or order online and you can usually pick up in 15 minutes, (it's longer if you want the food delivered). Would definitely recommend

After reading the reviews I was dubious, however.....The food arrived within 30 mins on a Friday night and it was piping hot.Most of the food was nice enough but the crispy aromatic duck was a soggy mess.We will give them a second chance but I probably wouldn't recommend to a friend.

put in an order for collection, got there and it was ready to take, still nice and hot. Food was very tasty, and definitely some of the best sweet n sour sauce with chicken balls I’ve had.

Awful attitude from staff after delivering cold soggy food which was 35 minutes late.When we called to explain that the food was below par the proprietor was rude,defensive and offered Nothing in return of a good will gesture.The staff were rude and did not care after our late complaint. Ordered several times for delivery but it really depends upon who answers the phone and several times you get NO Won’t deliver... other times they do. Stated just now that they don’t have delivery drivers... quite rude also.

First time used this take away, will not be using it again. Exceedingly bland and tasteless. Grilled dumplings were cold and greasy, chow Mein cold and greasy, chicken with ginger and spring onions, loaded with white onions with no ginger and hardly any spring onions. Everything tasted the same

Ordered online at 19.30 and at 21.15 had to ring to find out where my dinner was!! Was told the driver was on his way...... 15 minutes later my delivery arrived, and Wow I’ve never seen anything like it!!! It was bone cold, and looked like it had been cooked and sat there for a good hour I wouldn’t of fed it to a dog. I rang and told them to come pick the food back up, and give me a full refund.... they said I would get a refund so here’s hoping it was my first time using these and I can safely say I won’t be using them again

We had a menu through our door so thought we'd give it a go. Food took an hour and a half to be delivered and wasn't anywhere near as good as the place we normally order from. Everyone's dishes were on the verge of being cold and all were exceptionally bland (even the satay sauce!) Free prawn crackers would have been nice if they weren't stale! Won't be ordering from here again - will stick to Black Dam!

Used to order from here a lot and the food was always good but recently taking over an hour and a half to deliver and food has arrived cold and congealed or completely dried out. When our most recent order eventually arrived it was wrong and the phone was constantly engaged. Didn't fancy waiting another 90 mins for the correct order so won't be ordering from here again.

One star is a bloody compliment. This is by far the worse takeaway I've ever eaten. Between four of us, we spend a lot of money and end up throwing it all in the bin. I tried calling to complain and no one answered. Am shocked they still running a business. Very very disappointed and annoyed.

Possibly the worst take away I’ve ever had. And I don’t mean worst Chinese, I mean worst takeaway. 40 minutes late and the food was awful. Even the dog wouldn’t eat it. Awful. Really bad. Poor cooking, poor ingredients and absolutely no flavour to anything. Awful. Just unbelievably bad.

Ordered at 1910 hours and it arrived at 2055 hours, did you get my order flown in from Beijing? On opening the not so hot Chinese takeaway, I noticed a key ingredient missing from my main order, the sweet & sour chicken balls were missing the sweet & sour, how? That's part of the dish, it's not a side dip like you'd get with your pizza from Domino's (or any other major pizza provider) it's an important part of the sweet & sour chicken balls experience (It's in the name) I wouldn't expect to go to a fish and chip shop and order a large cod and chips and only recieve the battered fish.

Having eaten at a different resturant the night before (2 nights in a local hotel) I found this place. I called in at around 7pm and was able to be seated straight away. I was lucky as lots of people arrived shortly after. The welcome was great, the service top notch and the steak was perfect. I will definitely be going back.

Got a menu thru the door, Thought we would give it a go as it was my birthday and refused to cook!!!! Was pleasantly Impressed, ordered dry ribs, chow mein, chips sausage and pork balls, for the family found it very nice, even ordered the next day. A++++ 5 stars.

First time I've used Oriental Garden. Delivery was prompt and dishes were tasty. Spring roll, chow mein, King prawns in ginger and spring onions, crispy Mongolian lamb.. Delivery was missing 1 item which they sent out to us when I called them. Thanks :)

If I could have left no stars I would have. When ordered we had chips on the order online and then when it came there was no chips so I phoned them they told me that he hadn't been ordered. Fine website issue removing it or whatever. So we go to eat the meals and the duck in plum sauce was in sweet and sour sauce. The kung po chicken was in sweet and sour sauce. I phoned and the lady basically told me I was lying as the chef is "a very good chef and has never had an issue before in the long time he's been there" she couldn't give me a refund for the duck in sweet and sour sauce because she isn't the manager and he only comes once a week but then went to tell me she manages everything. I asked for her name to complain to the manager when they contact me (allegedly he will be in on Tuesday) but she outright refused. She was a Shamballs and the service received tonight was awful. I won't be coming back.

Went to an all you can eat evening buffet. Food was good. Staff ok. Decor ok. Average prices. Beef expensive but always are at places like this
