Well what can I say thrufully food was not nice chips was bad savalloys was microwaved you can tell over cooked sorry oakridge fish and chip shop 1 star from me don't think I will come anymore sorry but all ways tell the truth !!

Went In tonight as I was told it had improved.. it hasn't, 8 chicken balls, smallest tub of sauce. Strange aftertaste to the food, overcooked and dry. If it was the last Chinese open, I'd get a kebab..... its that bad... not worth the money, go to no.8 Chinese or Tangs...

I went in to get my dinner. Despite it being empty I ordered my food and was given a ticket. When I asked what the ticket was for I was rudely told sit and wait. After 10 minutes of waiting and watching two staff members talking to each other, swearing and realising that I was not waiting because the food was being cooked I asked when my food order would be ready as it was not Chinese just two battered sausage and chips I was ignored. I then had to raise my voice to be heard over their chatter to which I was told 5 more minutes. It was at that point I asked for my money back and went to popley fish and chip shop where I was served straight away despite being busy and no one was rude. The people who run this business should train their staff in customer service will not be going there again. Would rather travel a little further, if I could have given no stars I would. My advise stay away.

The Chinese curry had no flavour and looked really anaemic,nothing like a Chinese curry.Very disappointed.

Worst chippy/Chinese in Basingstoke Soggy food and terrible portions. Been several times and gets worse every time. Popped in for a quick portion of chips today and when given a hand full as a large was the final straw never again. AVOID !!!!!!!!

I could have used my pie as a demolition ball it was that hard, chips were all dry and over cooked which tells me they are left over from the lunchtime. Very disapionted as they are so local. They need to be shut down now before they kill someone with there so called food.Just to add I I made the mistake of trying them again today 29th March 24, omg what a mistake they have not improved since I wrote the original review. Please don't go here they have no idea of food quality soggy chips even with no vinegar and the driest burger I've ever had. What a pile of sxxt this place is. Sort yourself out or just do us a favour and close.

Not very good . Food greasy did not enjoy, unfortunately they have 10 min card spend which is against card term and conditions, sorry don't reccomend .

Didn't enjoy. Had a battered sausage and it was nasty. So soft I imagine not much meat in it. The Singapore Vermicelli was so greasy it slid down my throat. The 2 stars are for the chips. They were ok 🤷‍♀️

Decent prices, decent food, always busy so must be good.

Food isn’t bad but this is my local chippy and the service used to be amazing in there I think the girls name was amy, since she left they’ve hired a young girl who’s rude nasty and miserable, she doesn’t make you feel welcome she makes me feel really uncomfortable I won’t be visiting this place for a while, very disappointing as it was such a lovely place when the other girl was there

Recently moved to the nearby area and thought we would try this place as its relatively local to the old one,, the chip shop side of things is OK and no complaints.. the Chinese side on the other hand was not nice at all.. the rice was so dry and crunchy in places.. the batter on the king prawns was well over cooked and the prawns inside was small and over cooked.. the chow mains are small and tasteless,, the chicken balls were nice il give them that.. but all in all I think il be taking the xtra 10min drive to visit my old Chinese from now on.. Staff were friendly on the counter tho so thumbs to you 👍

Last minute option for dinner. However it was overpriced compared to portion and quality, charged 10p for a bag. All other Chinese I have been to have always gave a free bag of prawn crackers-not here! Would not recommend.

Have used this place quite a bit over time & have generally had good food. The last 2 visits have been awful, needless to say will defo not be returning. First time they burnt the ribs so bad that they were inedible, had to throw them away. This last time I had Singapore Special fried rice, spring roll, chips and curry sauce. When the chips were unrapped at home they had clearly been in the hotbox for ages as they were rock hard & all very bitty, the Singapore rice was just a gloopy stodgy lump & the spring roll was DRIPPING with oil/fat & just fell apart & was very bland. On a high note the curry sauce was passable. Honestly it was that bad even the dog swerved it. Take my advice and go elsewhere.

I haven’t been here for a while but sorry to say NEVER AGAIN had pork chow mein this evening and it was tasteless and didn’t taste good and my partner had chicken balls and she and my son said they was horrible to the point they went into the bin I persevered with my chow mein because of the cost of it but I didn’t feel good after eating it ☹️ so sorry guys but please make an effort to get it back to a good Chippy again so until we see more positive reviews we definitely won’t be back ☹️

Went to go to our usual in popley but it was closed so went here for the first time…amazing. Portions were more then enough and the food was piping hot even when we got home and was the best tasting i have had in a longtime : )))) will definitely be back!!

Decent duck chips bit sloppy but take card and cash

Not the tastiest chips that I have had. But they fill a hole. I get savaloy sausages at chippies. And they have normally been soaked in briney water to heat them and make them tender. Not here, so didn't taste quite right luke warm out of a microwave

Hit and miss at times, sometimes food is lovely, sometimes not so much. Fairly priced, most of the staff are okay but one of the younger girls there is an absolute gem 💎

Rubber chips Fish smelt and tasted awful and the batter resembles chicken nugget batter. 1st time eating from here and none of us finished our meals as it tasted that bad. Would never get from here again!

I think this place is just here to troll us. Seriously avoid this place if you value you stomach. If you want to know how not to talk to customers come here and just order small chips, during the wait you'll get all the shocks you'll need. Poor hygiene, poor attitude, poor service, poor food handling. Just walk straight past this place

Very Nice Food And Always Happy Too See You

Not great! Saturday the 7th of August a dog was in there while the server was giving it a stroke. Never washed her hands after. As I said not the best!

We are not from the area and wanted a takeaway after a long day catching up with family. We found the service helpful and friendly and the preparation quick. On returning to our accommodation we took a quick sample of the food and I was amazed by the best chips I’ve had in years. Between us we tried egg fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls, special fried rice and pie and chips. Not exactly gourmet but well cooked, great taste and a delight for 3 very hungry diners. Thanks team if we are ever back in the area we will call in again. On

My daughter, myself and grandchildren decided on fish and chips and the last time we bought fish and chips from oak ridge which was about 3 months ago the food was ok (edible anyway). I lived on oak ridge for many years and have seen staff come and go. But the demeanour of the member of staff serving tonight was intimidating to say the least and because she could not hear what was being ordered she shouted “can you speak up please “. We didn’t have fish on this occasion, in fact I wish we didn’t have anything at all. It was stone cold, the chips were not even freshly cooked, they tasted like they had been there since the afternoon opening and mainly consisted of the little “ends” of chips that no one wants to eat. It was disgusting, nearly all of it got thrown away. £11.30 was paid for that trashy food and this is one family who will never frequent oak ridge fish and chip shop ever again!!!!!!

OK, I don't usually write reviews. Sometimes you buy food from some places and it's not to your taste, you eat and move on, and just decide not to eat there again. In this instance however, what I got was completely inedible. I threw it away. It was so foul tasting, even thinking about it makes me gag. And I grew up in Oakridge, my gag reflex is fairly decent. I appreciate this place has never been considered gourmet. I know it can be hit and miss at times. While I haven't lived in the area for a while, I still grew up round the corner from the place and have eaten here more times than can count. But I've never been unable to eat it. It tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in months, and it overpowered the food. I wasn't expecting it to be spectacular, but for £15 I expect it to be edible. It's a shame to say, I'd never buy food from here again.

Handy having this nearby - I've had chips and chinese from here. The chips are good priced and decent portioned - the large coould do with another scoop but it is a fair amount they give. Very good price for a quick meal so can't complain. I've had Chinese a couple of times from here - happy with the amount you get - they pack in the food which is good! Good value and tasty with decent portions - good option to have for a last minute treat.

Bot of a wait but can't complain as fish was cooked fresh

Went to buy some food- tottal just over £6 I was told I cant pay with card- min. Payment by card is £10! I couldn't justify spending another £4 just to be able to pay by card. I tought that during pandemic all shops suposed to encourage pay by card. Obviously they don't need customers which can't pay at least £10.

Disappointed with the roasted duck meat really it shouldn’t be made this way-what I was expecting and what I got really was disappointed with the mash duck meat and the service was bad it’s an insult for Chinese roasted duck it looks like mash roasted duck to me at least since I fancy Chinese food and roasted duck but it looks I will never buy from this shop again and suggest not buy from this shop as well!!!even the price for this not even worth it highly regretful it’s not roasted it’s deep fried ones !!!it’s completely rubbish and worst roasted duck I have ever eaten in my entire life .... Not realy up to standard on the fish side or at least not the cod but also the greasy chips however there is a large variety and the staff were excellent.

Chinese food was very greasy. Quite awful. My stomach bloated and after a few mouthfuls I threw the rest away. Chips...okay impossible to be 100% grease free but very oily. Joined the Chinese in the bin. £35 wasted.

I've always enjoyed eating from here, the food is always good. However tonight the food has been exceptional. The shredded chilli beef, on point as usual, best in Basingstoke. Salt and Pepper chicken and the chicken chow mein is some of the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommend

Chips are always dry and crispy I equate it to eating bark!! fish is the same size every time, fish is a different size which makes me wonder what fish this is? Chinese food is not nice at all, disgusting sticky rice, kept for too long yuk. I now drive or get delivery from Oriental Pearl, their food is amazing. Sad as live in Oakridge.

Omg ok I get that staff leave but my god at least employ staff that actually listen to the customer lost count how many times ive been in and the young girl on the counter has a problem listening to the customer every body is talking about it will not be going there again friday night was really bad feel sorry for the rest of the staff that have to jump in and bail her out every time

Good chinese takeaway food. Recommend the Singapore vermicelli rice noodles. Hot and spicy. Parking is relatively easy. They have a minimum amount for card payments so beware. There is a cash point over the road in the shop but it charges £1 for dispensing. Parking relatively easy outside the Community Hall. Can get very busy but service is quick

My favourite chinese takeaway in basingstoke

Very frustrated with this chip shop, my family and myself consist of some vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters. On around six occasions I have asked the staff if the chips are cooked with meat or fish EVERY time they have said no they are cooked in separate oil. However when my stepdad went to order some chips he double checked they were vegan, the woman serving him said yes but then proceeded to tell him they fry the chips in the same oil as the battered sausage. Absolutely disgusted and angry about this, luckily no one in our family has any allergy’s to what is in batter, meat or fish however this is not the point. They have lied on several occasions and that could have been dangerous. It completely goes against our beliefs and morals and so we will not be eating here again. The quality of the food isn’t great anyway and the staff are not helpful or welcoming. Used to be a lot nicer before taken over by new owners.

Asked for lamb curry and beef curry both was just tough meat covered in plain gravy. Battered sausage was covered with breadcrumbs. Not worth it. Won't be going there again
