Orchid Restaurant at the Studley Hotel in Harrogate

Wow, what amazing food. We were a group of 6, and we all enjoyed our dishes. All very fresh and well presented. The staff were really nice and the room was tastefully decorated.

Love Asian food so after finding this place I was made up. Great service decent surroundings the only point I’d make is change the small soup bowls. The tom yum in all establishments I’ve been in are far bigger and this is quite expensive for such a small amount. (see pics) Ultimately the main question would we return 100% just to try the red thai curry sauce again which was awesome.

It was my wife’s birthday and I booked around a month in advance. I spelt my name and they had my phone number and email address . I confirmed that they had a tasting menu and it was it was for my 7.30 pm rservation. I also told them it was my wife’s birthday. As I had not received any confirmation I called up 5 or so days before and they verbally confirmed my reservation. At this time I asked again if the tasting menu applied, this was confirmed. Again no confirmation was received. So we arrived early and went to the bar which was really nice, but the bar man took a telephone call. This did not delay our order, but to take a call in front of customers was a shock. So we went down the stairs to the restaurant and the service was less than attentive, we were shown to our table which was less than 2 feet from the table adjacent. This led to the customer on the next table squeezing past us to use the faculties and upon departure knocking the glasses off the table. We offered tempura which was very average, crispy duck which was very poor, missed fish average and monk fish was ok. 2 rice dishes and a very poor bootle of pinot noir. They wanted £156 for this, but as the service was optional I declined to pay for this as it was at best average and there was no acknowledgment of my wife’s birthday.

I was visiting family in Harrogate and tried The Orchid due to all the positive reviews. I was definitely not disappointed!! The food was of exceptional quality and the service was efficient and friendly. I will definitely be visiting again when next visiting Harrogate.

I recently tried out The Orchid and I have to say, the food was absolutely delicious! Not only that, it was beautifully presented. There’s so much choice on the menu, I can’t wait to go back and try more!! I highly recommend visiting.

Had the most amazing time at The Orchid trying out their festive menu, the Monkfish dish was a real treat! The festive vibes at the Orchid added to the great experience, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Would deffo recommend!

I used to love this place, but I went last week and got food poisoning from the restaurant.. disappointed to see quality and standards have slipped following nee ownership and the get food poisoning shows they need to get better with there food hygiene … obviously can’t visit again

Orchid Restaurant We both really enjoy Pan Asian food which was one of the main reasons we decided to stay at the Studley Hotel. We ate here on two evenings and as expected the food was excellent. (Dine and Stay Offer) We shared starters on the first evening, Thai Chicken Satay and Bang Bang Chicken, but had our own mains as my wife does not eat fish. My Malaysian Sambal Seafood consisted of tiger prawn, scallops, squid, mushroom and peppers in a shrimp, ginger and chilli sauce was divine. My wife opted for Thai Green Chicken Curry, it had a good ‘kick’ to it. Second evening the restaurant was very busy, but the staff managed everyone in good time providing great service throughout. There were many meals that I wished I could have eaten so we decided to share starters and mains. Our Salt & Chilli Mushrooms, and Pork Goyoza starters, again were delicious and the mains of Cantonese Black Pepper Beef with cashew nuts and the Philippine Beef Tagalog were superbly cooked and served. We really appreciated the food and enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant, we’d highly recommend it to anyone who is passionate for Pan Asian food, I would suggest the restaurant cuisine is probably not bettered anywhere else in Harrogate.

We visited to celebrate our orchid wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. It was a Sunday evening but the restaurant was bustling and the atmosphere was jolly. We ate far too much and thoroughly enjoyed it all. I can recommend the crispy sea bass! The service was highly attentive and personable.

Had a fantastic meal at the Orchid on a buzzing Saturday evening for my wife's 50th birthday. Service and food were excellent, and a special touch at the end of the evening, a huge slab of beautiful chocolate gateaux birthday cake. Couldn't have asked for a better evening. Top class!

We had an excellent food and service experienced for my pre birthday celebration. We used the private dining area. The food is some of the best I have tasted it was beyond delicious and the staff were incredible. Food price is not that bad and we ejoyed it and the location is great u can just walk to town if you wanna see more of harrogate bars,shops and more..😀

The food is delicious! I highly recommend the salt and pepper squid, king prawns tempura and especially the weeping tiger (sirloin grilled with Thai spicy sauce). You must try guys! The staff are lovely and accommodating!

Easy booking and confirmation online. We had the £23 ahead taster, lunch menu which is a choice of 3 mains, 1 side, 1 pudding. We drank Singapore Sling cocktail. The food is really delicious, well cooked and presented and the portions reasonable. The cocktail was nice and the staff are friendly and professional. The ambience is lovely. This restaurant is defiantly worth a visit.

Excellent service and food was superb. I had crispy prawns and the accompanying sauce was delicious. For main course I had red curry with duck which again was very tasty. I enjoyed a Singapore sling and thought the restaurant offered excellent value for money. It is a great find of a place and I would return when i next visit Harrogate

Came here for our wedding anniversary meal and was absolutely amazing. We had never been before and had been highly recommend by family and friends. We were not disappointed. The resturant was beautiful and the decor lovely. Our meals were amazing and tasted delicious I had a Thai curry and noodles and hubby said his meal was amazing . The service was amazing too. We will definitely be back. Thank you .

Was expecting something good from all the positive reviews and recommendations. The food was below average and the ambience did not exist. No one did anything wrong, it was just the most average asian meal I've had in years. We'd heard good recommendations from people who had been a couple years back, so I wonder whether the restaurant is living off their previous reputation. There are much better asian restaurants in Harrogate that have taken over it and I'd spend my money at.

Booked table for 5pm, arrived and was sat near the service door even though the restaurant was empty, then we were told to vacate the table 7pm (very rude) we were then entertained with listening to chaos in kitchen and two waitresses whispering and giggling. I asked for an iced tea and got a coconut mohito. The nerve was when the bill showed a service charge which I immediately asked for this to be removed. Will never return.

This was my wife's selection and I must admit to being a bit wary, with it being connected to a hotel, as often that can mean the lowest common denominator. But it was brilliant. From start to finish (we had three courses) the service, food, and drink could not be faulted. And it was not that expensive. The portion sizes were, if anything on the large side. But, interestingly, there is an option to share a number of dishes where the portion size is about 50% bigger than the standard size. Given that my wife and I have similar tastes, this is definitely a thought for next time. As it was, we were spoilt for choice across all three courses.

Food is very good, super fresh and great flavours. There is a nice atmosphere and good staff, attentive without feeling rushed. Not cheap but worth the money. Highly recommended

This is by far the best asian cuisine restaurant in Yorkshire. Top tier, amazing quality and fresh ingredients culminate in incredible dishes, every time. We have never had a bad meal here, or even a dish we didn’t absolutely love. We are so confident that the orchid produces superb food that we usually order something new every time we go. The staff are friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable about the food they serve. Please try this next time you’re in Harrogate, you won’t be disappointed

Had a wonderful lunch here with a group of friends. We dined from the lunch menu which was reasonably priced. The food was cooked fresh and delicious, everyone enjoyed it, it was a wonderful treat. All staff were friendly and attentive. We were sat at a lovely spacious, round window table. Will definitely be back.

We had vouchers for here as A present. We have been before so knew we had to book. Well. It was just wonderful. The food served hot and in good time as you get the table for 2 hours. The staff were friendly and polite. Not a cheap eat but beautiful food. A must visit place. Steve B.😀.

Lovely food, ambience however our wedding anniversary meal totally ruined by waitress following us out of restaurant and asking us if we had paid! We asked for bill and another waitress came and took payment then we left. Felt totally violated. Manager and other staff I spoke to didn't see a problem and this has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Have never experienced this before! Irony is that booking was secured with a card. Restaurant didn't seem to understand the issue and why I was so upset. Very bad end to what would have been a lovely evening.

DELIVEROO-do not bother Unfortunately ordered a lot of food from this restaurant and Deliveroo arrived with half. Messaged on the app and they refunded the amount fairly quick. I said I would have preffered the food. They then decided to cancel the refund and send me the food an hour later. Everyone was in bed. Kids all upset. Wife fuming. Thanks a lot

Excellent meal at the orchid last night, we ate in the old private dining area which has been renovated with multiple tables, excellent food & drink as always, recommend the soft shell crab & weeping tiger. The service was flawless, very attentive & knowledgeable team. 5 stars! 🌟

I recently visited the Orchid, and despite the food being amazing, the staff there were incredibly rude and disrespectful. The atmosphere was incredibly warm, stuffy loud, i do not recommend this restaurant.

I recently dined at The Orchid Hotel in Harrogate and my experience far exceeded my expectations. The warm and inviting atmosphere from the moment I walked in immediately set the tone for an enjoyable evening. Now, onto the food - wow! The dishes at The Orchid Hotel are absolutely fantastic. I can't recommend the Salt & Chilli Squid enough, as it had the perfect combination of crispy texture and delightful flavours. The Pork Tonkatsu, which I was told was a family recipe, was also a standout with its tender pork and flavourful sauce, creating a truly memorable dish. The Crispy Lemon Chicken stole the show for me. It was hands down the best I've ever tasted. The chicken was perfectly cooked with a crispy coating and a refreshing zing of lemon. Aside from the incredible food, I was impressed by the passion and dedication of the new owner. Their enthusiasm for pan-Asian cuisine shines through in every aspect of the dining experience. The service at The Orchid Hotel was equally noteworthy. The staff were attentive, speedy, and genuinely caring. It was evident that they all share a passion for their work, which added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Whether you're a fan of pan-Asian cuisine or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, I highly recommend visiting The Orchid Hotel in Harrogate.

Witnessed the owner being verbally abusive and aggressive to a table of diners who hadn’t displayed any aggressive behaviour themselves. From what we could hear, the table of people were late to their reservation, but that did not justify the behaviour they received from the owner. Shocking. We won’t be returning after seeing this, which is a shame. I cannot stand bullies.

We came here last night for a birthday celebration in the private room. It was amazing! The room was lovely, the food was the best Asian food I have ever had and the service was incredible. We got both of the set menus between 9 of us and we were so full we couldn't finish it! Thank you to our amazing waiter (we didn't get your name but you made the night perfect for us!!)

We had a lovely unexpected trip to this fabulous restaurant, the service was exceptional from the moment we walked in to a very busy Saturday evening without a reservation. The recommendations of the food were spot on & the food was delicious. We had a cocktail & a negroni & again brilliant & very well presented. Food was stunning! I had starter and main from the specials menu, can't enthuse enough about how amazing they both were.

The Orchid has amazing food, delicious Asian cuisine, it went off a bit after the pandemic, but it's definitely got its better chefs back behind the stove, great food, if you can afford it, £350 for 6 people with no booze

The food was great, although serving for 4 people from the set meal, the starters especially, were too small. 6 individual prawns and 6 pieces of pork cannot really be shared between 4. If the starter was not from the set meal would I have been served One prawn? The meal was booked to our room, which we were expecting a discount as the website mentioned - due to staying at the hotel. I was told on check out that we had not booked it in the correct way to obtain their discount, and also discovered the £25 service charge for the meal had been added without asking and was now non-negotiable. Very lovely food and waiting staff, ruined by management policy. A little customer service goes a long way! (and would have stopped narky reviews!)

I live a few hundred feet from the orchid and have been going for years, never had a bad experience which is rare for any restaurant, too marks, never disappointed

Had an excellent meal here with my wife and 2 children. The food was excellent. We picked an afternoon set meal which was excellent value and great quality. Even better there was good choice in there for the kids as well. Would definitely go back

Reasonable service and food unfortunately cut short by a curt request for us to pay and leave at 7:50 because the table was needed. When we booked we were told the table was ours until 8:30. A good meal spoilt

Great service and tasty food. The wait staff were really attentive and took orders quickly. The food arrived promptly and tasted fantastic. The only loss of a star was when I ordered a cafetière coffee there must have been too much ground coffee in there as I couldn’t press the plunger down and it sprayed out onto my arm. Luckily there was not too much of a burn from it. Other than that I highly recommend a meal here.

High quality SE Asian cuisine, with great service and nice atmosphere. We had the bang bang chicken, chicken satay and the prawns for starter. All excellent, the bang bang chicken was a recommendation and it did not disappoint. For mains we had the weeping tiger steak (it’s one of the hottest dishes) but you can dial down the heat as everything is made to order, chicken Thai green curry and the kung po chicken. Would recommend everything we had!

Absolutely beautiful food. Very tasty and a varied menu, with Thai Singapore Hong Kong and other Asian food options. Even have desserts too. Would eat there 8 times a week no problem. ( I like my food lol ) Service was good and nice surroundings.

We were sat in the function room to the side which is a very good addition to the restaurant! Sweet and sour pork was beautiful and the taster menu that others got in the party was by all accounts very good as well! Toilets are upstairs, which is accessible by lift, but there is a step that some with disabilities would struggle to use.
