Cardamom Black in Harrogate

Just had a celebration meal for my birthday, what a wonderful restaurant this is !. The staff are amazing and the food is absolutely delicious. If every restaurant would offer this level of experience then the world would be a much better place. Well done Cardomon Harrogate xxxx

We were well looked after. Service was very quick and there was lots of food and drink choices. Staff were personable and made our first evening out in Harrogate pleasant.

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant during a conference in March 2024. Situated conveniently, the restaurant offered a variety of reasonably tasty dishes. What truly elevated the experience was the friendly and enthusiastic demeanor of the staff, making it a delightful dining experience overall.

Just been and had to write a review straight away. This place is phenomenal. Food is authentic, spiced beautifully, cooked and presented perfectly, service is bang on with smiles, the decor imo, is like a little indian palace. So glad we went there. The lads serving need a mention, you make the brilliant atmosphere and you work so hard. Thank you!

Had a really great meal here, only reason it's not 5 stars on food is a bit of confusion when the non-veggie Bombay sliders were brought instead of veggie ones (fixed straight away with no debate though). Really friendly staff, interesting and extensive menu, good cocktails and the decor is amazing - like a sultan's palace. Not for minimalists!

Very happy after our dinner here! The restaurant is so beautiful and grand. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food tasted amazing. We arrived late at night hoping for a table, and even though we ended up being the last table of the night, they were absolutely amazing towards us. Highly recommend

Lovely place, very modern looking. Food was lovely, very tasty, naan bread is delicious. I had a chicken madras which was nice, my girlfriend had a chicken korma which was actually amazing. Price was OK. Would eat here again

Cardamom Black is sited in an impressive and expansive venue to be sure and there’s plenty of ‘bling’ here. This, plus eager staff create a good first impression, so what about the food? Whilst being fine it’s not as flamboyant as the lads running the show or the venue, which is a shame. Dishes are relatively inoffensive taste wise and lovers of authentic Indian food may come away slightly disappointed. All in all the restaurant fits nicely in Harrogate but the locals deserve more adventurous flavours.

I have ordered twice from Cardamom Black and both times the food has arrived cold and with multiple items missing. The staff are argumentative rather than helpful or apologetic when asked to resolve the issue which just adds insult to injury. If ever there was an example of how not to run a business, Cardamom Black would be it. If you cannot provide the basics, i.e. good quality, hot food, backed with good customer service, you have to ask yourselves, what kind of restaurant am I running? My recommendation to anyone thinking of dining with Cardamom Black, would be, don't. There are plenty of well managed, competent eateries to spend you money with in Harrogate.

Incredibly dissatisfied with my order from Cardamom Black this evening, I placed my order at 18:39pm and my order arrived with 2 items missing and the food cold due to the order been 20 minutes late. This is the second time I have ordered from Cardamom Black and the second time I have had items missing from my order, this is not the service you expect when spending £50.00 on a takeaway for two. I contacted the restaurant and requested a new order so that we could eat everything togeather and enjoy a warm meal. The restaurant was argument rather than apologetic and helpful, but grudgingly agreed to send our order out again. An hour and a half later we are yet to recieve our order. I would recommend anybody thinking of ordering from this establishment to avoid at all costs.

It usually good from here. Picked up a takeaway that is stone cold and I ordered 4 poppadoms and got some crumbs. Really bad

2-day visit to Harrogate. Excellent food : Veg sharing skillet starter, Veg Naga Balti & Paneer Makhani. Super friendly staff. Would defo recommend.

Two of our three meals were very poor. One with tough, inedible lamb (sent back and substituted) another over flavoured with coconut & also inedible. The third, a vegetable thali was OK but no more. Sraff were helpful and polite and gave a 20% discount on food. I'm afraid a first & last visit.

Best takeaway we’ve had in a long time!

Good location town centre. Large but warm open seating area with upper gallery. At 6.30 on Friday not busy and by 8pm quite busy. Food about £15 plate upwards, tasty, flavoursome, good portions of chicken, lamb and beef in buryani. We both thought meals a little hotter, spicier than expected but personal taste. Drinks reasonable prices. Staff friendly. welcoming and efficient.

This was our first deliveroo from Cardamom Black. The food was amazing! So fresh and flavourful! The best we have ever tasted! Would recommend this restaurant to friends and family!

Everything was absolutely fantastic, we were really well looked after and everything we ate was amazing! Great portions and reasonable prices considering how high standard the food was. As soon as I passed the door, I knew that we had to eat there! The scents were intoxicating. The staff was full of smiles. The decor was luxurious. We are gluten free, and they catered to us very well. My girlfriend told me the Pista Korma was the best korma she had ever eaten, and everything was fantastic. I cannot recommend this place enough. I've been twice on this 3 week visit, and when I come back to the UK, I will go again! Jay was superb.

After a phone call to see if they would deliver over a considerable distance I ordered food for delivery for a few of us, even after 25-30mins in the car the food was still piping hot, tasted beautiful and the gent that made the delivery was nice too. Rahim our server was brilliant. The food was hot in spice and temperature. We went early evening so it wasn't too busy and as there was no background music, lacked a little atmosphere. Definitely return though for sure.

Was with two friends and their nine-year-old. I only had one dish, the biriani which was a tad disappointing: spices did not blend too well with the rice. But I’m being pernickety. My companions’ dishes were very good. Good service and the restaurant ambience is 5 star.

Absolutely wonderful. The food was top notch with a huge variety. The venue is glamorous but down to earth and the staff were welcoming. The tikka tacos and the peshawari naan were particular highlights as was the cranberry mocktail.

In my recent visit to Harrogate we been invited to this dinner party at Cardamom Black. Absolutely love the ambiance and staff service. Food was impressive as well. Even their papad chutney tasted good. One of the starters called Petis hits me tho, reminded back home delicacy. Had really great time there. Would visit again to try other dishes👍🏽

Fantastic experience at Cardamom Black. To enjoy high quality Indian dining in such an opulent setting was a real pleasure and a rarity in the region. The menu has a large variety of options all of which were appealing. Went for the grilled options which tasted amazing, would highly recommend the prawns and the cheese steak tacos. Service was fantastic in particular the waiter named Ray was a great lad who really looked after us and made our evening a very enjoyable one. On the whole a fantastic experience and will definitely be back to sample more. Having had some hit and miss experiences eating out in Harrogate Cardamom Black is a must try and hands down the best South Asian food in the town!

Just had an amazing meal out with my family at this establishment only a few moments ago. My partner, little sisters and dad were so pleased with the excellent food choices and bar & waiter service also. All members of staff were super friendly and polite and made the expierence totally wonderful. I'd been a few times a few years ago but was too young to remember anything, so was unbelievably pleased that this restaurant went above and beyond for me and my family just as I'm sure they did for every other customer as well. There are plenty of top Indian restaurants in Harrogate & rather than going to the same ones all the time we thought we'd give these guys a try. Staff were all real professional, service was faultless, the menu was just massive (with loads of fab veggie & vegan choices), & the food was just the best. I'm definitely going back very soon.

Always great to eat here and experience the fantastic atmosphere and friendly service. The menu is amazing - a huge range that will suit any palate, every cooked to perfection. Staff are all great - very welcoming and relaxed, which adds to a great atmosphere. The dining room is suitably theatrical for the building - you won't regret visiting here.

Service was ok so was the sharing starter !! But I got the seafood lobster curry and it was shocking I mean shocking red hot in the middle cold on the outside (microwave) told them even admitted it was well over cooked tasted like a gritty seafood curry from Aldi !!! Told the manager and he just palmed me off !! Never again will I grace these doors !!

Visited from Leicester to celebrate with family. I'd happily return, given the distance! The service was second to none. From the moment I entered the warmth and friendly nature of ALL the staff made me/us feel welcomed. The food was excellent and in good supply. Peshwari naan, superb!. Great selection of vegetarian/vegan options. Massive shout out to Aman & Riaz , keep up the excellent service with smiles😄 . Definitely a credit to the company.

Having read the menu in advance we were excited to eat here. We were seated and placed our order before 6.30pm. By 8.30pm, our food had still to arrive. We asked one of the waiters who said it would arrive within ten minutes. It did not. Guests who had arrived after us were actually served, completed their meals and paid their bills while we waited. We left without receiving our food after having exhausted our patience. The children in our party were becoming so restless that remaining to wait for an indefinite period for food that may not appear became untenable. This was doubly a shame as we were planning to revisit with our full conference delegation of about 30. We cannot now do so and will take our business elsewhere.

Came here tonight with my husband it was an absolutely excellent dining experience from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble I have Multiple Sclerosis so my legs are a bit sketchy at times so it was great to find a disabled lift if only for a small flight of steps. The food was really stunning and our waiter attentive but not overly so. Cannot recommend enough if you're in Harrogate we will DEFINITELY be back!! Well done guys and thanks again 😊

Food is fantastic. There is a good selection of vegetarian options. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Was recommended by many so was so dissaponted. The shaslick came out with raw Peppers and onions and when we complained we were told they're not meant to be cooked!! Joke. The naan was the worst I've tasted. Had no flavour and was stale. Even the rice they got wrong. Mushroom rice with raw mushrooms and no seasoning. Terrible! Only good thing was the setting but we will not return!

Exceptional service, amazing staff who are the incredibly friendly and the food was absolutely spectacular! I 100% recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh, and the naan breads are amazing! Not to mention the beautiful interior, adds to the luxury service and dining!

Went for a celebration meal with a group of 13 of us, what can I say… From arrival to we were welcomed with open arms to our table & the service from then on was impeccable! The food was also sensational, I had the Jessica’s Tamil khari (with lamb), garlic naan and garlic and chilli rice, it’s the second time I’ve had this dish here and it does not disappoint! We have loved cardamom black for years but since having a baby, have only managed to get take aways. Last night we managed a rare night off parenting and there was no question as to where we’d be going out. We always enjoy the food but it was on another level. There’s plenty of vegan options as well as traditional Indian curry’s. The staff were all incredibly polite and chatty as always. Thank you for a wonderful date night!

Sadly we’ve just had dinner here. We sat down at the time of our booking at 7.30pm. We ordered a curry and once finished rather than being offered the menu again to pick desert/order coffee we were handed the bill around 8.20. At 8.35 a waiter came over and told us we needed to leave and take our full drinks to the bar as they needed a table back. We had been sat down for 1hour and were being told to leave our tables. Shocked that for a restaurant like this we weren’t offered any more drinks, desert or teas and coffees and turfed out of our seats.

Visited here on Valentines evening. I have to say food was good hence the 1 star. However, the staff customer service was absolutely terrible.They were rude and extremely unprofessional- really spoilt the evening.

When we eventually got to eat it it was flavourless and just spicy hot. Went recently again.. my third time in cardamon black The venue itself is lovely The service was also very good Food was flavourful authentic and abit different... however... sadly although our starters were piping hot... our mains wernt all that physically hot. - maybe due to the dishes they put them in?

Came to this restaurant for this first time on New Year's Eve. Immediately impressed by the fabulous and stylish decor on arrival - luxurious and unique. Staff were impressive and knowledgeable about the vast menu. My partner and I were unsure about what to order and the manager allowed us to create our own bespoke dish based on what we fancied that night, including panir, chicken, onions, aubergine and onion baji, all chargrilled with a rich taste, and a chicken korma. I can confidently say it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Unique flavours that melt in the mouth and amazing quality of food, cooked to perfection. Wonderful, enthusiastic and hard working staff, with a brilliant atmosphere and classy music, made it a memorable evening. Looking forward to returning.

I loved this place when it first delivered to Boroughbridge, ordered the 26 pound lobster on Tuesday along with chicken tacos and a briana. I never got the sides with the lobster, all I got was 2 shells with 2 small bits off lobster in them and a tikka sauce, which wasn't part of the dish, 26 pound for 4 small bits off lobster. I called them and they said they would call me back in half hour, no call back so tried calling again and they put the phone down, now both my house phone and mobile is blocked.
