Food was awful, didn't taste anything like thai food, we ordered the sticky chicken and had to swap it for a salad instead! I felt like throwing up, definitely won't be back!

This was our first visit to the Harrogate restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised. We had not looked at reviews prior to going we simply called in. We will simply call in again to sample something else off the very nice and varied menu. Staff were great, especially Bagdi :-)

The food was so quick to arrive and it was absolutely delicious. We booked online and although the only option was to book a table outside the restaurant, the staff arranged an indoor table for us with no problem. Great vegetarian options, really friendly and helpful staff, what more could you want? 😉

Well presented, staff leave you to it once ordered, and some dishes ok. Overall however I wasn't wowed and considering the price a bit disappointed. It's worth a visit to try. Main restaurant bit can get a little stuffy too as it captures the sun all day.

A lively restaurant, with a short wait to get outside table as we had dog with us. Tried a variety of the tapas style dishes and enjoyed them all . The pork dumplings and salmon bites being the stand outs . Reasonable prices and good service.

The caramelised pork was top notch, tender and full of flavour. Panang, the sauce wasn't really a panang, tasted more like an Indian curry. The beef was very tender though. Beef massaman, the beef was again tender and juicy, potatoes cooked properly (many places are under cooked) they used cashew nuts instead of peanuts, not detrimental. The sauce was thinner and not quite as tasty as I would have liked, although it DID taste like a true massaman.

We were the last customers to book online on Sunday bank holiday. When we arrived the restaurant was empty, and even though they were starting to clean down for the night the chef honoured our late online booking. The service was obviously impeccable and the food was exceptional. My husband is a new Thai food convert. Thank you for feeding us!

Amazing food , great selection, authentic Thai cuisine

Had lunch today and it was lovely. We had a scrummy set which is a couple of starters and a red Thai curry. The food was delicious and we'll definitely visit again.

Came here as a trio.The menu pricing is higher then one would perhaphs expect so prepare for that. The food was tasty, smaller in size than i was expecting for the price and sadly the cheesecake was a let down. Another thing that confused me was to purchase rice seperately to go with the curries, I would have thought with the pricing that it was a no brainer to include rice with a curry dish. The bill came with a service charge but because we were so well looked after by particularly one staff member, we were happy to pay. In conclusion, slightly pricey, good selection and atmosphere, tasty food/drink (barring dessert), attentitive staff, shame about the rice which should be complimentary. Thank you for providing a nice Saturday evening for us.

The place was beautiful and all the dishes were presented wonderfully. 3* for food because it wasn't mindblowing and whilst it was tasty, I could have this food anywhere + the sui mai was not home made

I wanted to eat here because there was loads of gluten free vegan choice which is pretty rare. I'm so pleased I went because the food was amazing, extremely tasty and was served really quickly. The decor is pretty and although it was busy it wasn't too loud. Definitely try here if you are gluten free, all the noodles are rice and the soy sauce doesn't contain wheat! (You can see all the ingredients of all the dishes on the allergen menu)

Lovely meal here, staff were accommodating and served us without a reservation on a Saturday evening.

Not what we were expecting when we quickly googled nearby places to eat. Loud music. Upscale. A bit frou-frou. Not us. I was looking a bit rumpled after traveling all day. I was wearing capris and a nice-ish shirt and I felt underdressed. The food was pretty average for the cost. Service was kind of slow. It took ages to get a two scoop serving of ice cream while waitresses were putting away clean dishes.

Very beautiful restaurant , with an amazing atmosphere and food! The service was great with our waiter and waitress ; Sathuik and Jigeesha treating us with utmost kindness and attentiveness. Amazing food, with very strong Thai flavors , will definitely be visiting again when in harrogate !

Nice place but food was average. Mains so so, rice not included with mains but is £3.65 per portion. Rice was like microwave rubbish all glooped together. Waitress said she could get a new portion but I said it will only be the same and she said yes. I said don't bother. They had the cheek to put on a £3,80 service charge. Don't bother going here.

Brilliant food and good service. Accessibility: There is plenty of room to get a wheelchair into the dining space. The toilets, however, are up some very steep stairs, so there is no access to those unless you are fully mobile.

Have been to the giggling squid several times before after first going in London and went for lunch today in Harrogate branch. Frustrated today when the bill arrived with a 10% service charge applied which I asked to be removed from the bill. We had a party of three adults for lunch and the bill was already £85 + for what is essentially a glorified Thai version of Nando's. Drinks prices are absolutely ridiculous at £7.50 for a single pint of Singha, and they want me to add another 75p on top of this to make it £8.25 for a single pint . . . . Worst part was once I had asked for the service charge to be taken off, the staff where whispering and sniggering to each other at the till to the extent members of my part told me 'their not happy you haven't paid the tip'. ABSOLUTLEY OUTRAGEOUS. Who do you think you are? Current state of the economy and your adding 'DISCRETIONAL' service charges to the bill when the service was questionable in the first place to then make patrons fell less than because they don't want to add extra to a bill of already inflated food / drink prices. Absolutely will not be returning.

Not a nice experience…It was lunchtime. A couple of dishes were missing on the lunch menu which were on the dinner time menu, so I asked the server if they could one of those as a lunchtime portion. However, I was refused in and told I would have to be charged extra. I asked if I could swap chicken for beef and told I would have to pay extra. There was no flexibility. Felt I had to keep asking for the menu and my bill at the end. The chicken red curry was missing a punch and quite bland… it needed fish sauce and lime…I’ve tasted better. Bill was £15.50. I paid £20 and the server had the cheek to ask me if I wanted my change back. And there was at least £5 to be returned and change. He still took his time. I had to ask again. I did not leave a tip would be back.

Ordered Squid bites starter and Thai Hake main. Didn’t taste remotely Thai. Threw up in an alleyway after walking home, within 45 mins of eating here tonight. Feel grim just thinking of the food. Also, they turned the lights off halfway through the meal which was just weird. Not down like fully off. Strange place and food

There was a good choice of food on the menu. In particular the choice of fish dishes was much larger than normal which is a really nice change from the norm. The food was good and tasty. Service was friendly and professional.

Lovely meal at Giggling Squid. The menu looked really interesting with plenty of different dishes to choose from. Our starters of salt and pepper squid and caramelized pork belly were delicious and the mains of spicy double curry sea bass and thai melting beef were both wonderful. The beef was meltingly tender and the red curry sauce it was served with was full of flavour, rich and aromatic. Service throughout was friendly and attentive and the decor really complemented the thai food being served here. This was our first time at Giggling Squid but we'll definitely be coming back. We've eaten at a number of other thai restaurants in Harrogate and this is the best we've been to.

It's good to find a decent restaurant open at lunchtime. The food and service were excellent.

Disappointed with lunchtime beef curry 11 .95. We have been to many giggling squid and always felt ok with what we had .Today it was hard to find the beef in a beef curry ,flavour was fine but mainly vegetables etc .It is extra for beef curry so would have expected more than a couple of thin pieces.We were told it is because it is lunchtime portion but dont think you can call it a beef curry as more like a veg curry .Told strict portion control from head office but think this is taking it to far.If twice as much beef in it would have been believable but my advice is dont pay extra for beef as you might as well have veg curry

We booked a meal on a Saturday night as it was going to be busy. The ambience in the restaurant was great and the staff were very friendly and professional. The food was lovely..especially the belly pork starter. Prices were quite reasonable. Would certainly go again.

I totally used to rate Giggling squid. unfortunately today I really succumbed to it being just another chain restaurant, and it was reflected by the food. although very tasty. It was lacking in fresh appearance. With no love or personality given to the food. such a shame

No one else in the restaurant when we arrived yet they still got our order wrong! Nevertheless the food was lovely.

Hadn't realised this was a chain which is perhaps why the food felt inauthentic. The sauces were ready made, poured from a plastic container. Food was either very overcooked ( sweetcorn fritters) or undercooked ( squid). The curry did not have the layers of flavour you may expect in a proper thai curry. I'd say save your money and go to Sukothai instead.

Having read so many good reviews here we were looking forward to our visit. We called in on a cold and wet afternoon. There were three or four tables occupied. We both ordered pad thai. I had with chicken and my colleague had with chicken and prawns. Both plates were very disppointing. The noodles were tasteless and the tofu was obviously not freshly cooked. We ate, drank our wine, paid and left. We then later passed by a super looking Thai restaurant which was full; I think we should have tried that one.

I have been visiting this restaurant since the summer of 2022 and only had one issue in the past.......until now. We visited just prior to Christmas and we were asked to sit adjacent to the entrance where the staff and managers were walking through. I was in my wheelchair and stated that I had been placed in similar scenario and had been bumped when staff came through the gap. I was then allowed to sit at a table directly opposite their chosen table. This situation became more pertinent when we visited on Saturday. I waited outside and my hubby asked i we could have the remaining table by the window and was told yes. As we moved to the table, a timid young man came up to us and asked us to sit in a corner table at the back of the restaurant. I started to move my wheelchair, when people sitting on other tables asked where we going. I stated that I was being asked to sit at the back of the restaurant but was leaving to go. They were all angry and stayed no, you go back and sit at the table you asked for and was given, which we did. One of the diners then overheard the manager chastising the young man ( who I believe was relatively new to the restaurant) and stated that people with wheelchairs must sit at the back of the restaurant. We did order food but by this time I was feeling humiliated and upset so I took my meal home in a box. I am in a wheelchair because of the following :- I am registered as a disabled person I have five fractured and collapsed vertebrae Severe lung damage as a result of suffering from Primary Pulmonary Hypertention from the age of 19 years. Osteo-porosis Osteo-arthritis Excluding one poor meal in November 2022, the food at this restaurant is delicious and varied. Despite this, my husband has decided that I have experienced first hand discrimination as a result of being in a wheelchair and as he does not want this to happen again, we will look for an alternative place to eat in Harrogate.

3rd of restaurant of this chain that I've been to, and everytime it gets better. Cannot recommend enough!! Went at lunch time and they did a special which is a Thai tappas. Delicious. You've got to try here if you like Thai food

We found this restaurant on Instagram and I’m so pleased we did - the whole experience was lovely and the food did not disappoint . The four of us all got the taster meals from the menu and all of them were GORGEOUS- we will be returning

The food was really lovely and the service was excellent. We weren’t rushed at all and it was such a lovely experience. The food was fresh and tasty! We shared a couple of the lunch tapas specials which was 4 dishes and meant we could try lots of different things. Would recommend!

A wonderful experience today at the Giggling Squid! We came on the recommendation from friends and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is beautifully decorated with plenty of floral arrangements everywhere! It just added a zing of freshness to the whole place!! The staff were very welcoming and friendly! We chosen our dishes from the lunchtime menu. The Giggling set had a mixture of spring rolls, duck, chicken cashew stir fry, and Jasmine rice! It was £13.50 which was amazing value!! It was a great introduction to taste the flavours! It was beautifully presented! We will definitely return and try the Thai small plates!

Service was good. Staff helpful and polite. Food is not so good. My wife got duck spring rolls and couldn't eat them. I got chicken stir fry, and sauce was watery and bland. Didn't taste freshly cooked. Tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. Restaurant was almost empty when we went. Need to improve!

We had lunch here and the food was amazing! We ordered 3 separate dishes from the lunch menu and a massaman curry from the main menu. Everything was delicious and in good portion sizes. All staff extremely friendly and attentive. Would recommend the beef massaman!

I really like this place , but on this occasion the two sirloin curry dishes were uneatable , the meat was tough and full of gristle. They need to change their meat supplier and guickly for this is the second time it has happened. I shall give them one more visit as my wife likes the dish she always orders .

Had a family Christmas meet up and meal. Everything was great with the location and food was fresh and presented well. We went for the lunchtime tapas sets.

Good Atmosphere let down by food quality

Myself and my wife ate there tonight on some pretty strong recommendations. What we got was bland and overpriced. We paid almost £100 for a tasteless Pad Thai, a few crackers and a bottle of wine. We were so disappointed as we were really looking forward to it. We may have chosen 'wrong' but it was a menu recommendation.

Amazing food, not as cosy as I thought it would be, lights a bit bright but everything was fab.

Starter for 2 £17 only 8 skewers tiny pieces meat on, both main meals £17 £16 again hardly any meat in also super salty! £4.75 a tiny bowl of rice, total ripoff, £60 not even full, never again!

Had a great dinner here! Felt welcomed and service was quick. We enjoyed the Salmon Penang and Prawn Pad Thai and both were absolutely delicious. Try the desserts and after dinner drinks, too, for a special occasion. The atmosphere is beautiful and the wait staff is helpful and efficient. Would definitely recommend this place!
