Imperial Palace in Harrogate

Group outing to Yorkshire, came across this fantastic restaurant that exceeded all expectations and more. Had to return another night and would highly Recommend. We will definitely be returning again. So close to The Crowne Plaza.

Ok meals and good value on the £19 all you can eat meal offer. Smaller portions but decent options. Singapore Noodles were very good.

The Imperial Palace is a great Chinese restaurant. We went for an all-you-can-eat buffet which they do on Monday to Thursday evenings for £19 per person and it was great value for money. We were in a (booked) party of 18 and they were happy to make room for an additional 3 people at the last minute. Very rapid service too, which can be a problem with large parties.

Excellent Chinese buffet food - staff were fantastic and food was too.

After reading the reviews I was expecting less than welcoming staff nd good food. We visited as a family of seven and we have not got a single complaint. The food fresh and tasty, the staff were efficient and nice. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely superb meal here tonight - booked for 5:30 and what a great dining experience. Warm welcome, excellent service and superb food, beautifully cooked in perfect portions. First time here and we will definitely come back. The restaurant was fully booked with staggered diners so everyone could receive the best service. Definitely worth a try - you won’t be disappointed 👍

We went as a family of 10. The food was absolutely amazing so flavourful, delicious and varied. I would definitely recommend. Great value for money and plenty of different dishes to choose from.

The family love visiting this restaurant. There us a set price then the customer can order anything off the menu. The food is then served within minutes. We have eaten here half a dozen times and never been disappointed. Authentic Chinese food, which tastes delicious. The duck dishes are my favourite.

Food was cooked to order came piping hot and nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit would love to go back when in the area again 😊

Went at 9.30 after checking on google that it closes at 10.30, we thought this would be plenty of time to have a meal, boy was we wrong!! As soon as we walked in we were told that we had to order starters and mains together as the kitchen closed at 10pm, we thought ok and did as they asked. All the food came out together and they were trying to take our plates that still had food on them. We ended up being in there for 35 minutes. I have never felt so rushed to eat our food, it was embarrassing. Then they presented the £91.50 bill. Never again, no customer service, and made to feel like we were taking up their time!! The noodles were nice though.

If I could rate it less I would. Seemed to friendly to the average person. Seen me enter jn my tracksuit and they discriminated from the second I walked in. Was rude to me got all my order wrong. I asked for some salt and pepper king prawns and some prawn toast, they brought me out 1 slice prawn toast and 3 king prawns meanwhile the table next to us got a pile of prawns? I walked out yesterday and went straight over to McDonald’s. I genuinely think this restaurant didn’t want tracksuits in there and genuinely wanted to disappoint me so I did not return.

Nice food with loads of options. However poor service

Outstanding for the price and genuinely exceptional service and communication. Some dishes, like the crispy beef and salt/chilli squid felt hollow, as if they were empty with no protein inside. Great selection of Malaysian dishes.

Oh my god. what an absolute BRILLIANT place this is, the service was second to none, the food was just delicious and ALL YOU CAN EAT, and believe me the menu was just so vast, there were four of us and we all enjoyed every minute we were there. We went on a Wednesday and the place was rammed from 6pm onwards. We cannot recommend this place HIGH ENOUGH. Thank you to the staff, keep up the good food.

Fantastic place to eat. Great food, great quality and so fresh. Myself and the other half love a chance to pop in for a nice meal. All you can eat and freshly made. Definatly recommend the chicken skewers!

Quick service. Made to order all you can eat Chinese food. What more could you ask for?

Fair choices of dishes and taste is good. The yam soup is too salty, but the crispy pawn and mushroom are good. Do not expect a warm welcoming and friendly service. The service is as cold as the winter weather. I gave them a 10% tip, but they seemed unhappy. To be fair, the service was not worth any more tips.

I visit at least once a month. Everytime the food is spot on. we were forgotten about on one occasion and we just laughed it off when we waited to have our first drinks/food order taken 20 minutes after sitting down. it was a one off so its not the end of the world. food always fresh and hot and it is priced very reasonably.

I absolutely loved the place at first , but when I tried to find out whether they have halal options , one person said the chicken was halal another said it’s not guaranteed though quite dismissive , asking about information due to dietary restrictions is important and it would have been nice to be more accommodating, give answers, explain if there is no cross contamination, is the same oil used for frying . I wish I got those answers.

Takeaway food in a restaurant setting. Food quality isn't very exciting. Everything has the same base sauce, tweaked slightly per dish. The staff can be quite blunt and rude. Cheung Won is nicer round the corner.

We've eaten here many times. The service is always great, and the 'all you can buffet cooked to order' idea is excellent - plenty of food that's freshly cooked. Heartily recommended.

everything was good but my chicken, which was undercooked and or frozen when they started. It was still pink in the middle and texture was like raw undercooked chicken. I called to explain and they didn't care just offered for me to bring it in and they explain. I've had the same thing in the past and it has been excellent but... I won't be going back due to this experience. That said the noodles and dumplings were very good.

This is a westernised "buffet", which is either a good or a bad thing, depending on preference. The food is, as has been mentioned by others, quite salty. It might be so to encourage the consumption of beverages, which in turn will make you feel full faster (speculation). None of the dishes are spicy, regardless of the amounts of chillies "🌶 ". This was by far the saddest part about the food. Their roast duck is, in my opinion, pretty darn good. I've never experienced it authentically, so I have no idea about what it "should" taste like, but I liked theirs.

Eat as much as you can: having eaten a starter and main we were too full to contemplate any more food! The food was delicious - my wife declared that it was the best Chinese meal she'd ever had. Staff were friendly and helpful. Recommended

Ordered takeaway from this restaurant, the starter said it came with Prawn toast and salt and pepper chicken. There was no salt and pepper chicken and it was not Prawn toast but a Prawn deep fried. Main had barely any sauce and 3 slices of an onion and one slice of a pepper all for £13. Not worth it

Came here for a birthday meal with the girls and food amazing as always! Always a favorite place to go to and at the end of the meal the staff brought out some ice cream with a candle and sang happy birthday, it was super cute, thank you guys

Food was quick & hot, but the attitude of the Staff was bad, one waiter shouted the dishes then slammed them on the table. We were a party of 11 & didn't feel welcomed at all.

Took my grandson there for his birthday. Staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing, piping hot and very reasonable

For reasons I won't bore everybody with, we've been to the Imperial Palace 3 times in as many weeks, not booked and been welcomed! Service is amazingly swift, the food is very tasty and hot, good choice, even dipping into other countries cuisines (Thai and Malaysian). Cannot fault this place.

Food usually good it's a member of staff that makes the experience here awful she rude puts her hand on her hip when you ordering, took friends from out of town through the week place was empty she was rushing us. Getting more and more expensive

I have been to this restaurant last week with my girlfriend. This is wired when we try to get the staff to order (we speak korean) and the staff speak Chinese to us. We said we don't understand. And they just point at the menu with a very bad attitude. Well, this only happen on that lady, the rest of the stuff are nice. But the food are average. Drink are overprice . I won't go again . On the second day I went to the Chinese cafe opposite Tesco and that is so much better

Me and my girlfriend were rushed in and placed on a tiny table right next to the bar, I felt like I was in the way as all the staff were constantly walking past and nearly hit the table multiple times. As they were seating us I asked if we could have a different table but I was told "too busy" by the time we left only one more party had arrived for a meal. The staff were some of the rudest people I've ever met, with snarky comments and nasty looks all the time we were there. They spent most of the time stood behind us laughing and they were the reason my meal was ruined.

Ate on my own as on business. Good quality food, good price. Nice selection, but you must show restraint if you don't want to pop! Salted squid, sweet sour chicken, egg rice, Singapore noodles all great. The service is a little rushed, but highly efficient. Would definitely return.

Used to be one of our favs but last few visits have being disappointing, the food is always good but the service is getting worse by the week. The management team need to look at their customer service skills, we were made to feel we were inconveniencing them by just been there. (The look at the watch as we walked in at 8.30pm been a obvious clue) Everything was rushed & what should of being a relaxing pleasant evening turned into a bewildering feeling of “do they really want our business” it says on there website they are open until 11pm but in my experience if you enter after 8.30pm you are certainly not made to feel welcome.

Visited this place few times but unfortunately this was the last time. The price has gone up since my last visit. Food wasn’t so bad but service TERRIBLE .I felt ignored most of the time - again - rubbish service !!!

Me and my partner ate here on a Saturday evening. We went before 6pm so restaurant was quiet. Service was great, staff were attentive and the food was delicious. Glad we went early as they said they had a booking of 60 people later that evening!!

Booked in advance for a table on nye. Arrived earlier than booked and we still got a table. The menu was £17ish for all you can eat from the a la carte menu. Really good food! Recommend the king prawn curry and Singapore noodles.

Been here a couple of times now and the staff are always friendly. Service is fast even with a larger group and the food is always fresh. Well worth the money for how much is available.

Here with friends for a catch-up. Was very busy, loads of customers. Initial service with starters and drinks was ok but then went to pot. Brought out three things we ordered, then was about 25 mins later the rest of the food came. Very awkward!

Visited Christmas Eve. Good service and food excellent as usual. Manager went out of his way to accommodate us with the pram. We shall return again and again and again. 😂😂

I took 2 colleges at 9.45pm last night. we were harassed from the moment we entered the restaurant; forcefully told what we were going to eat pushed into ordering mains before we had properly sat down waitress said “have you even looked at the menu “

Came here for a staff work function. Two of my coleauges visited the bathroom and proceeded to get bleach on their clothes as bleach had drenched the surfaces! Tney were justifiably upset, to which the manager responded that it must have been a customer. While I doubt this, it is irrlevant as bleach should NOT have been in the bathroom for customers to access. Unless of course the manager is implying a customer brought their own bottle of bleach in and decided to bath the bathroom in it.... What did the manager think would be acceptable compensation for this? A bottle of their (frankly awful) house wine. The manager looked at us, after the peoplpe with ruined clothes had left, and attempted to ccomplain about them to us, and proceeded to throw a strop and leave after we said we thought they were in the wrong. Terrible experience, rude staff, and clearly no respect for health and safety laws.

Visited here late on a Friday night and so wished we had turned up earlier to try some of the many dishes on offer. On arrival we were told that only 2 courses would be available and would need to be served at the same time; we weren't sure how we felt about this but tried it anyway. The waiter gave us some guidance on how to get the best value for money and we certainly did that with a starter for 4, 3 main dishes, 2 rice dishes and some noodles and chips! They were small portions but oh so tasty. I wish this restaurant was much closer to where we live, although we have said that we would be prepared to travel the 80 miles out and make a day of it even when we are not staying in Harrogate. Beautiful food, immaculately clean and lovely waiting staff. You should be very proud of your organisation; keep up the good work and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Love this restaurant, always our go to place when with a group of friends, I believe it is around £16 for lunch and £18 for dinner. It is an all you can eat restaurant, however, all the food is made fresh to order. Medium quality food but lots of it. Impossible to leave unsatisfied.

The food is great, all you can eat buffet for a set price, not your standard buffet where you go up and grab what you want. Order as many dishes as you like starters and mains. I love this idea! On weekends the price does go up, so better if you can visit through the week. This is where the but comes in, the food is let down by the service you receive from a certain waiter and I have encountered this on numerous occasions. No smile, miserable comes to mind! It’s as if the customer is inconvenience to him, when trying to order more, he gives you a funny look! We are sitting in all you can eat buffet! Can sometimes be a uncomfortable atmosphere if you are unlucky enough to be served by him.

apparently one of the best chinese restaurants in harrogate? Hmm. Honestly! I wanted to leave after starters. Mixed platter was full of different meats and bones. All tasted same (may be except prawns) of fried oil and batter. Ribs were bones in batter only, hardly any meat on them! Bed start for one of the best restaurants in foodie town. As said, wanted to drop it after starters but fortunately stayed as mains (fish, fry beef (extra charge) and chicken) were much better and saved the night. Could be really good if not terrible starters (at least mixed platter).

My husband and I walked from our hotel to this restaurant to have the buffet meal. The concept of having dishes cooked fresh rather than a hot plate was nice and the meals were tailored to your own needs. Lots of variety and we were able to order more of the starters we enjoyed. The food was well presented, hot and tasty.

Just been in for a meal, was rushed while ordering, drinks came after about half an hour of being sat down way too slow. And we asked if we could take the remainder of our dishes home and we were told we were not allowed to do that because they had nothing to put the food in. They have take away dishes because I’ve ordered take away from there before! Usually impressed with this Chinese restaurant but may re think in future!!!!

We went here for the first time to try and were very impressed. The food was excellent and the staff were amazing to us, they couldn’t do enough to help us. I will definitely go again and would recommend to anyone, even those with mischievous three year olds!

On the Trip Advisor rating I went for dinner. The food was cooked to order and full of flavour we enjoyed the meal , the service was good and we didn't have to wait long for our food.

Some friends and I had an overnight stay in Harrogate and we fancied a Chinese. We found this place on Google then checked it out on Trip advisor...

We all wanted to eat some Chinese food and as we had been to the theatre and the Imperial Palace was near the Royal Hall we chose to go there. It was in all our views a very good choice. The restaurant offers an all you can get buffet for less than £13 per person and as we reordered on a number of dishes we thought it was excellent value. We mainly ordered starter dishes - 1/4 aromatic duck, the spare ribs, sesame toast, chicken satay, vegetarian springs rolls and after reordering some of these we then ordered a few of the main dishes, the lemon chicken & chilli beef together with a couple of vegetarian dishes. The food throughout was very good. The desserts were mainly bought in ice cream dishes which we skipped as we had eaten more than enough. The wine list was small and there was a reasonable selection of beers. The service throughout was very good and friendly. This is not fine dining but for the quality of the food and the price it is amazing value for money

I live in Harrogate and come here often- I’m new to trip advisor but I had to write a review about this place!!! The best all you can eat food ever- delicious, fresh food cooked fresh when you order, brilliant table service and all for an amazing cost. Would definetly recommend this place to any Chinese food lover- you won’t be disappointed!

After two recent visits to the Imperial palace I have been twice disappointed.

...and you’ll be surprised by their offer! They have an extensive menu, and you can order all you can eat from say 8-10 starters, 15 or so mains, plus add ons, rice ets for £13.95 during the week, and £16.95 on Friday and Saturday. Four is of a very high quality, and service attentive too. A must if you’re in Harrogate! Next door to the Little Ale House too!

Ate here with business colleagues in a Wednesday night. Nice clean restaurant with quick and friendly service. Food tasty with a decent choice but not masses. Reasonably priced.

Excellent value - all you can eat cooked to order for £13.95. The quality of the food was very good. My daughter and I had a mixed platter of starters, chicken and sweetcorn soup, sweet and sour chicken and chicken curry. All were very good. We were asked more than once if we would like to order anything more but, to be honest, we were full.

Distinctively ahead of the normal eat-as-much-as-you-like restaurants, as you are free to select your desired options from the menu - starters and main course - and it is brought piping hot to your table, and as friends you share the dishes around. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially with two of our group who has some food allergies. The cleanliness of the restaurant and quality of the food were also of a high standard, as was the speed at which one's orders were executed.

This place is a Gem, an all you can eat but delivered to your table, so no one breathing on it or kids hands in the troughs, all food piping hot and fresh, I do not know why other places do not do it like this, a lot more hygienic, and staff are friendly and will talk to you if you talk to them, come here every time we visit Harrogate

Arrived without booking and were given table within a couple of minutes - restaurant was pretty full. Found staff here really friendly and food excellent. You can eat as much as you want and order starters and mains which are then cooked to order. This is a far better system than the usual help yourself/all you can eat restaurant as the food is piping hot.
