When I visited with the family extremely rude owners who did not take criticism well. In addition, they spoke to a young staff member poorly, causing the poor waitress to cry. This is unacceptable behavior in any workplace and can create a hostile environment for employees and customers alike. Moreover, the food was awful, which is disappointing for any restaurant. The chef/owner made you feel threatened, which is not only unprofessional but can also be frightening. It's understandable that you would not want to return to this restaurant after such an experience. Overall, it's important for any business to treat their customers and employees with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed to provide either, and as a result, they have lost a potential customer.

Avoid like the plague. This place needs closing down as their food hygiene standards are extremely worrying. Much nicer places around, don’t waste your money here. Very rude owners who treat staff appallingly. Been once and never again.

The food was very very mediocre- I had the pork casserole special which was very bland tasting- I had recently eaten a tinned chunky soup from Heinz which instantly was what the taste reminded me of. The mashed potato also tasted very plain and quite dry, not creamy like a usual good mashed potato. A bit more care and thought about seasoning would be great, as this was very basic and poor tasting. The prices aren’t extortionate but for the food received it was really not work the money (around £12 for each meal). My child used a reusable straw provided which seemed to have some kind of grime inside it, so I do not think that the inside of these have been properly cleaned with a small brush. Positives: very lovely service, lovely view, and quick waiting times Overall, I felt the meals were lacking in flavour for the price and wouldn’t have bothered with more than a sandwich in the future.

Had a delicious squid salad with top service from a young lady called Ellie. The squid tasted fresh and the view to St Michael's Mount is amazing. I would say this restaurant has the best views and service in Penzance and is so cheap.

Our breakfasts here were great, good value and very tasty. However, the chef should remember that he is working in an open kitchen. Whilst enjoying a leisurely breakfast, we did not appreciate hearing him moaning at and humiliating the staff. Not necessary and not nice. The staff we encountered were lovely, very polite and friendly.

Went in for lunch today and after looking at the menu stood at the bar for a while and waited to be served… the lady that was serving the person before me went into the back and a young girl sauntered over.. at the same time an old woman pushed in front saying to the young girl she wanted to pay.. to which the young girl said I know your in a hurry…now common courtesy would be for the staff member to say to me would it be ok if I serve this lady first.. which I wouldn’t have had a problem with, but no… she carried on as if I wasn’t there and the old woman never had the decency to have any manners either… we immediately left as no way would I give a penny or the £60 we intended to spend to this place despite being return customers… there are other restaurants/pubs in Penzance that offer first class customer service which in the current climate.. could make all the difference..

Needing a lunch time snack, this cafe was convenient, and afforded a delightful view across the bay.Inside was clean and modern, although a bit of a barn of a place. They had tried to give it a style of its own, but generally that failed. But it was just right for what we wanted.I have to say that the young man serving at the bar/counter was so keen to do well, it's almost untrue. Top marks for him.On a day when they really were not busy, and all we ordered were baguettes, they took an age to be prepared and served. But when they came, they were large, crammed with tender meat, and very tasty.Needing a snack? Not a bad place.

Myself and family have visited 4 times since opening and every time is disappointing. The food is over priced and portion sizes are dreadful! We paid £38 for 1 bacon sandwich (no garnish) 1 blt without the tomato (no garnish) 1 mackerel pate and 1 chilli chips, a americano, pot of tea for 2 and a glass of water. Oh and a kids meal that we didn't even get offered the pudding. I wish I'd taken a photo of the food because I haven't been anywhere with such poor portions! We would of happily paid the price for what should of been on the plate. Pot of tea for 2 was £4.40 on its own. It's such a shame because with the children's play area and the beautiful view this place really could be something special again but it's not a patch on renaissance that used to be there. We won't be trying again any more.

Came here for breakfast as a family. As locals we have visited here before and had very different experiences but the last two visits have been extremely poor. First off, extremely slow service even though there were I think about 4 other tables in at the time. Once our order had been taken it took far too long for our coffees to arrive. Plus point - the coffee was great. We ordered 4 full English breakfasts for £7.95 and what came out was shocking. Over cooked bacon, one tiny sausage. A few cold mushrooms, 2 over cooked and fried to death hash browns and half a shoddy tomato. Oh and a bit of toast. Extremely overpriced for a crap breakfast.Myself and another ordered poached eggs and received fried, when we let the waitress know the cook came out and informed me that mine was poached.. it was gross. All in all I think the empty tables speak for themselves. We won’t be returning.I will say that the serving staff are very polite and lovely but still not going to make me return.

I went for a family lunch, we have been here before, but not since it has re opened and all changed. It's so cold in there now, no soft furnishings, I get the stripped back industrial effect, but it adds nothing to the atmosphere, it felt like we were sitting in a big cold school hall. Hallelujah for the view though. Unfortunately, the food and service couldn't make up for the surroundings. Our waitress, that did mention she was new, didn't know much about anything really. I ordered the sausage and mash, advertised as a round sausage! Turned up, with a heap of completely unseasoned mash, 2 normal sausages and the veg of the day?! Oh my, literally 2 cauliflower florets, green beans and carrots that had obviously just been frozen then dinged in the microwave, yes I get it's about speed also, but there was just no flavour,no love. The gravy was see through, I asked for more, why I don't know. My brother had fish and chips, the chips were inedible, so over cooked. My mum had a toasted sandwich, thankfully that was edible. I even had to offer my family condiments, whilst the waitress stood there, as she wasn't going to. It's just sad, seeing what could be an awesome buzzing restaurant with such an incredible view, not doing well at all. Every thing just needs a bit of love, throw a few cushions around, season the food, don't over cook it, get some heating going!

I just don't understand it. This place should be permanently full, but after 3 visits since it reopened, twice I have been the only customer. I only went in for coffee, which was as expected, dreadful. But I suspected it would be as it was a local roast, and the Cornish are not known for their coffee, more meat and veg in pastry.I think the problem is that the place is just looks like a wedding venue. Too much white, it hurts the eyes.Such a shame as this has, in the past, been a good cafe that had a 'buzz' to it. Now it is just painful. To end on a good note, it does have one of the best views in the world across Penzance Harbour and Mounts Bay.

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
