Never been to Omar Khans Skipton but it has (had) an excellent reputation. Called on Saturday afternoon to check menu and, if possible, book a table. Nobody there but you could see that all the tables were ready. Rang to book a table but just got an answer machine saying nobody could take my call. However we decided to go since we were eating early and Khans is large. Unfortunately, as somebody else has pointed out, it has closed. (Funny but in this case I didn't check Tripadviser first, possibly because we live relatively close to the restaurant). So we went to the Aagrah instead and, despite not having a booking, they managed to find a table for us. So we did end up with an excellent meal, but just not at Khan's. Khan's has got a one star because it is closed. I am sure from the local reputation it had it would have been 4/5 had it been open. It would be useful if the answer machine message was changed to tell people that the restaurant has now closed. I can also only assume that despite appearances it has closed for good.

Just to let people know I went to Omar Khans on Friday and it was in darkness so I phoned the Bradford branch and was told the Skipton restaurant has closed down. Such a shame I will miss going there, I think it was a little too far out of town for most people, the food was good and the staff were lovely.

Warm welcome by the owner, very attentive and made us feel valued . We also found the chef to be friendly , cheerful and helpful regarding our choices, especially the younger members of our group. The food was good but the whole experience was let down by the waiter who was dressed in his outdoor jacket and trainers for the whole time, gave the impression he was just about to leave, especially with his surly attitude also. Would put us off making another visit which is a shame as we have had family meals there quite a few times before and never experienced this.

As a family of five visiting the area from Queensland and staying "next door" at the Rendezvous hotel, we happened upon Omar Khans quite by accident. Barely two hours earlier we had been freezing our pickles off on the Cow and Calf rocks in Ilkley so curry was definitely the order of the day as rain fell on a bleak Sunday evening in Skipton. The food was wonderful but a special mention must be reserved for the utterly delectable peshwari naan. Superb. Ordinarily, they certainly wouldn't describe themselves as lovers of food from the subcontinent but even our two girls devoured their starters and main meals. All in all, very enjoyable.

On my first visit, the early bird menu - served until 7 pm - was very good. When I revisited early December, I was advised, very bruskly, that the menu was not available in December, though I had checked the web page that day and it was still advertised as being available (they have changed it now). I pointed out they had entered a contract (by offering and my acceptance), and were therefore in breach, but the manager simply coarsely swore at me. I can not complete the rest of the review, as I don't feel it is fair to review on the basis of the first visit. I didn't have the opportunity then to progress with their head office, but it has soured my memory of the first visit. I won't go there again.

The staff were attentive , the food was amazing and served very quickly and efficiently . The manager even brought my daughter a drink - on the house. They have an extensive Indian menu and also a good English menu which pleased my Mother as she doesn't eat spicy food. We brought our own cake which the staff brought to the table supplying small plates for everyone to have slice. When the bill came we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was for so many people. Thank You to the manager and staff at OKs Skipton.

The night before our wedding, we decided to indulge in an Indian and Omar Khans looked very nice. Inside the decor was ok so we placed an order. It went downhill from there ... on top of the waiter massively lacking customer service skills or manners, the popodoms were soft, the pickle tray comprised thick vinegar and diluted mango chutney, all three curries looked and tasted the same ~ gravy-ish with non descript lumps and the rice stodgy. My bridesmaid ordered a sparkling water which comprised an Aldi bottle with a straw ... costing £2.20. We naturally complained but our comments were merely 'humpfed' at. Dreadful dining experience and very expensive for a truly awful meal and service.

Visited on a Saturday teatime and were offered the early bird menu (12pm-7pm) as well as the normal menu. At £8.95 for 2 courses this seemed like a good deal with mains around £8.95 on their own. The greeting on arrival was a little frosty, we sat in the waiting area but it was a few minutes before we were passed menus. I ordered half a cider and was asked which sort but when I asked what there was to choose from he said ‘Woodpecker’ and that was all! Others in the group ordered Kingfisher lager as it was on the menu but were told they could only have Cobra – and so the evening began… The food was distinctly average and although portion sizes were adequate our whole group felt every dish was far too hot – even a butter chicken mild dish (which we asked for especially mild as it was for children) had a real kick to it. As far as Indian restaurants go there is a lot of competition in this area and frankly, there are much better restaurants to try, don’t waste your money here.

Inside, we were warmly welcomed, as seems to be the norm in Yorkshire, and offered drinks while our table was prepared. The menu was a delight, offering all the standard favourites but also an impressive range of house specials which had some inventive combinations and thoughtful spice ratings. For once, we ordered exactly the right amount of food, taking the advice given with each dish as to suitable accompaniments. Im not always a fan of early bird menu's as I find they can be limited in their offering and you feel a little rushed to eat and leave before the main menu commences. But that was not the case here. 2 courses off the full menu (we ordered some additonal sides and a pickle tray too). The food was excellent. Visited Omar Khans a week ago. Great food and atmosphere. Staff were very smart and polite. I ordered the Chicken pekoras and they were one of the best I have tasted. For mains I had a Ch Tika Masala and my partner ordered the Multani Khas, both dishes were very tasty, especially my partners multani khas. We then decided to share a dessert, we ordered the peanut butter stack which was beautiful and was very different. Everything was going fine until we ordered our coffees. A man was arguing with the staff about his food, and gradually he got louder and louder. All we could hear was this man going on about a hair found in his food. We could clearly see the management team were trying to calm him down however, he was a very hot headed man and he was having non of it. It seemed to us that he didn't want to pay his full bill. He then claimed that the staff did not wear hair and beard nets which is pathetic of a grown man to do as the restaurant has had a 5* rating in hygiene. It came to a point where the owner had enough and just told him to get out, and in a very disrespectful way the man threw change at the owner and shouted "that's all your getting". Who ever this man is you should be ashamed, there was also children in the restaurant too. Everything went beautifully besides this man at the end. Also a big thank you to the management team as they went around apologising to all customers, we also were told that the hair was blonde and non of the staff members have blonde hair so, this means it was done purposely either to get a discount or a free meal, it is very disappointing that there is the odd few people in our days who do this. We will be back, hopefully next time we won't get any disturbances.

We went for the early bird menu on a Sunday the food was good, I had nearly finished my meal when i noticed a HAIR in my food! It was mentioned to the waiter who apologised but was asked to tell management. Nobody came to see us so when the bill arrived I went to pay and mentioned it to the manager myself. He said the waiter apologised and to him that seemed enough. I expected the manager to offer us a discount or free drinks as a way of an apology, all I got from the manager was a response of...what do you want me to do? grovel?...I was fuming! By this time the owner appeared...Mr omar khan himself. He said the kitchen staff didn't wear hair nets or hats when questioned. Then the chef appeared without it on but said he took it off to come out to see what was happening. So there is lie number 1. by this time I had the chef the manager and omar khan shouting at me, i was sworn at and pushed. They said the hair wasn't there's and I had planted it to get a free meal!!!!! Voices raised omar khan then said to me pay your bill and F..K OFF!! And not to ever come back. (As if I would) the whole restaurant heard what had been said I slapped down a bit of change and walked out. When we drove off the OWNER, MR OMAR KHAN was stood talking to customers and giving me and my partner V SIGN AFTER V SIGN through the restaurant windows. I guess the 20 people or so who were there saw him too. My advice is don't ever go to any of this man's restaurants unless your happy to put up with a man who just wants your money and has no customer relation skills whatsoever when it comes to complaints. I have spoken to a few people about this, it seems it's the normal thing when you have a complaint. Once again KEEP WELL AWAY....

This was our first visit to this Skipton restaurant & was a culinary let down, we expected Indian food to the highest quality but received a very mediocre keema curry and a very average fish dish. The curry was full of gee and laced with salt, the meat used was tough and full of gristle and tasted like gravy granules had been sprinkled on it. The onion Bhagi starter lacked flavour and we're just highly spiced onion dough balls. We had rice and a naan bread to accompany our main course's along with a side order of aloo gobi. (this was flavoursome but average)The staff continuously asked if everything was ok to the point of being a nuisance. The establishment is accessible for the disabled and welcoming on arrival. Will we return? I think not, in my opinion we have been spoilt by some of the best curry houses in Bradford & unfortunately this one doesn't fall into that league.

He also advised the kids on what to have and that he would make sure the chef prepared them mild (any dish!!!). We went for the early bird menu as it had plenty of choice and was only £8.95 each for a starter and a main course. The kids went for a mild chicken massala each which I have to say was awesome. We found the food to be excellent and the service matched this.
