I'd been to this location a few times in its previous incarnations, when there was no shade on this rooftop although it's a pleasant spot in the middle of the Lanes. Now, in its latest guise, it has a large canopy which is very welcome on a hot day. There are also sofas to lounge on (a little too low to eat from at the tables though). This otherwise enjoyable ambience is ruined by the excessively loud music. We asked for it to be turned down, but this was unfortunately not done. We had to raise our voices to talk. This is not good. The choice of cocktails was limited on the day we visited. I tried a rum cocktail, which looked suspiciously red, but was assured that it did not contain Red Bull (a beverage I detest; there was another cocktail on offer which did contain the said substance). There was just one waitress who was left to cope by herself - she did her best and was very helpful, but as more and more customers arrived she was probably a bit overwhelmed. We had a jerk chicken salad, which I'm sorry to say was mediocre in the extreme: some sub-standard chicken thrown together with some salad leaves and then anointed with some sort of dark brown thick sticky dressing. I have to say that the food that other customers ordered did look better. On the plus side, it was 'Happy Thursday' and everything was half price. Come along for a drink if you don't mind loud music; incidentally I love reggae and Caribbean music but this was not good reggae! There's so much better out there. All in all, a missed opportunity.

I got charged twice for the same order on Saturday , I have just realised a few days later and contacted them on Facebook as there number isn’t working. the person was unhelpful and rude and told me to speak to a manager and I said I would be happy to can you get them to call me and gave my number, they said no just call and I explained I tried to call them and it wasn’t going through and gave them the number I found on Google and asked if that’s the correct number and then they read the message and ignored it. So I have paid twice for the same round of drinks and no one will help me.

We were excited to try this venue and a family of three with our son who is 8. We came along at lunchtime and it was pretty quiet at 12 o clock when we sat upstairs. We ordered drinks and then chose jerk chicken, rice n peas, plantain and Mac cheese. As we ordered (shame we didn’t know before we chose) we were informed that there was no plantain and no rice n peas. The food that we did have was lovely, but obviously the 2 items not available were part of our anticipated Caribbean lunch experience… However, we will return again as the experience would have been a 5 rating with a fuller menu. The outdoor area looks like it would be fun and when we left, music was being played and the atmosphere was a bit more lively…

We had a lovely evening with friends watching 2 football games. Great snacks and drinks. Plenty of seating areas and worth to visit .

I had booked a romantic lunch. But our experience went from bad to the ridiculous very quickly! We weren't ready to order just a couple of minutes after sitting, and so our orders weren't then taken for another 20 minutes. When we realised we'd been sitting there for over an hour, and nobody had even come to let us know why, my partner went to try to find someone to speak to. With still no one available he headed to the kitchen, where he was told that a chef had walked out so they weren't sure how long our meal would be. The waitress finally came to the table and offered her apologies claiming they had just completed a big rush, which simply wasn't true - a table that had arrived after us were already on their main dishes! Her manager came out afterwards and reassured us that our meal would be ten minutes and offered her apologies. Placated, we relaxed and waited. When our starters arrived, one of two of our starters was barely warm, so we called the waitress again. We were told we wouldn't be billed for our starter, and agreed to wait for our main course rather than wait again for our starters. Again we relaxed. Five minutes later, (what we later discovered was the manager), a man came near our table and just stood looking at us. My partner asked if he was the manager and he finally spoke. One would expect a listen to our experience, and to then make amends for the poor service. But it quickly clear that he had no intension of listening but accused us of being "unprofessional"!!! For entering the kitchen. He then implied that if we didn't leave he would call the police! We were horrified that he had taken such an aggressive stance with us! He completely ruined the good work that the waitresses had achieved in trying to resolve the problem. We walked out. What a shambles! We're still scratching our heads trying to figure out what on earth he was thinking! I've been coming to Food for Friends for many years. I will not be returning.

I am writing this review more from the point of view of accessibility. The entrance is ramped, and has a wide door, so wheelchairs and power chairs can easily fit through. Inside is really cosy and relaxing, but the space is big so you can easily move around in your wheelchair/power chair. There are various types of seats (a few some armchairs, cushioned benches), so you feel you can relax if you need to. The disabled toilet it's on the same ground level, it has a wide door, and there are grab rails by the toilet etc. There is disabled parking immediately outside. I counted around 4 cars with blue badges. The staff are lovely and really helpful. The food is really yummy. Some of it pricier than others. I would say some of the Tapas what's on the price your side for the amount that you get, but lovely nonetheless. The cocktails are really well made, and they do have special offers which is great.

Had another amazing meal here yesterday. I have visited Latinoamerica about 4 or 5 times now, and it never fails - the staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is absolutely perfect. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, and will definitely be back. (Try the sharing board - four different steaks, cooked to perfection - you won't regret it)
