Eaten many times in the restaurant part of pub and always really good made from scratch food, never disappointed. Pub part (The Edinburgh) has another atmosphere which we like too - yes more locals and that is also what we like. Hard to understand what the last reviewer is on about and their focus on the carpet in the bar. Been coming to Wells for 20 years.

Cheap. But an absolute dive that hasn’t bothered changing the carpet since the smoking ban. Miserable wench running the bar. Better off going to the Premier across the road, grabbing a few cans and heading to the beach. Awful, miserable. (Unless you’re a miserable local). 0/10. AVOID.

Stayed in the B & B room was clean and tidy nice en-suite and tea and coffee facility.we ate on Friday night Lasagne and Fish Pie both very nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast we both had full English, toast and marmalade tea and coffee. Very nice and didn’t need anything else until the evening. Friday night late evening the music was very loud and didn’t help when trying to sleep the only disappointment otherwise a nice weekend and reasonable price.

Every time we visit wells we always go to Ollies for food. They are friendly and very accommodating (dogs welcome!). They don’t try to be fancy and that’s what we like! It is good, honest food. The food is always home cooked, of a high standard and big portion sizes. It’s fantastic value for money and it’s the best around!

I had tried to book (albeit too late) alternative Sunday Roast venues…..came upon Ollie’s on a ‘search’ and left a voicemail; they returned my call (pleasantly surprised) and had a table for us for a late lunch. Very good polite and ‘smiley’ service, prompt food, bottle of wine from the bar, thoroughly recommend. No, it’s not pomp&ceremony (coast dog walkers perhaps prefer this😉) but it was jolly good and we will definitely return. Thank you to Ollie’s👏🏼

Associated with the Edinburgh Inn pub as it is all part of the same concern I would rate the pub 5 and the restaurant 3. The pub is basic but very good and obviously a place for Wells locals and it had a nice vibe to it with locals at the bar end and visitors like ourselves tending to use the bit between the bar and Ollie’s Restaurant. We ate in the restaurant one evening but unfortunately it was a rather soulless, a bit school canteenish and lacking the buzz of the bar not ten metres away. The food was ok but nothing special and was not of the same quality of most other eateries we tried in Wells. Unfortunately, it was of similar price and I don’t think it was justified as it was not of similar standard. Staff in both pub and restaurant were good. If visiting Wells again I would most definitely use the pub but would probably give the restaurant a miss.

Food was hot and tasty, the pork and Stilton had a blonde hair in it and when i pointed this out to the waitress she just wandered off to not be seen again. the five of us found the menu bleak and there were no chicken nuggets for the child with us. the other adults all had starters and sides. table service was poor after the hair incident. we had to wait twenty minutes for a desert for the child with us, which was banged onto the opposite end of the table to the child and the waitress huffed off. no one came to the table to apologise about the hair so we wont go back. it was not that busy and we were seated at 1800 on a monday night.

We wanted to “nip out” for dinner with our two small dogs and found the Pub and Ollies Restauraunt lovely. Bar and Restauraunt staff lovely. Food really good and the atmosphere great. Didn’t give a five star as I thought the area we were in….lifeboat area, which was brilliant, lacked the same atmosphere as there was no background music. Not a major issue but worth considering as we were the only people in that part of the venue. Visit here it’s worth it. Advice from us……ignore previous reviews. 😊

We ate here by chance, as the bad weather meant most places were full. It was a good choice. Very friendly staff, a very good pint of Wherry, and a burger somewhat better than steaks I've had in other places. Most impressed by the fact that they will serve half portions (at half price) which suited my wife as she has a smaller appetite (though this leaves room for dessert...) The bread and butter pudding was huge and delicious.

We had lunch here in august 2023. Really wished we’d chosen somewhere else. We longingly looked out of the window to the other eatery we should’ve gone to. We were met by a frosty waitress and given a table. On the plus side, the service is pretty quick and the seafood platter is very nice, but pricey. The restaurant is really just the table section of the Edinburgh inn. You’ve to get drinks at the bar, the chap behind the bar is a bit gruff especially if you’re not local. We had lamb shanks and noticed some odd blue specks in it. The chef came out and took it away to inspect it. She came back and told us it’s nothing to worry about, it’s bits from the label of the mayonnaise jar. Great! I wish I’d asked for extra bits of label in my lunch. There wasn’t even an apology. We asked for another meal and she said “are you sure because you’ve eaten most of it” which seemed to be a dig at us complaining. They begrudgingly took the Mayonaise label meal off the bill. Still no apology though. There are plenty of really nice places to eat in Wells, sadly this isn’t one of them.

We have been coming to the Edinburgh/Ollies for more years than I care to remember and have never had a bad meal. The seafood platter is wonderful, the lasagna also, crab salad was scrummy, and we had to finish each night with the bread and butter pudding (mouth is watering just thinking about it!) Great selection of drinks at the bar and staff are helpful and friendly. We worry every time we come to Wells- next-the-sea that The Edinburgh will have been sold and turned into a 'gastro pub' serving tiny portions and everything with a 'jus' so please stay just as you are. Great food at reasonable prices and a lively atmosphere. We will be back very soon.

Service was great and food was home made and delicious. At no point did we feel uncomfortable after the recent events. After reading previous reviews, was really looking forward to our evening meal accompanied by our pooch as it is advertised and quoted as being dog friendly. Dog tolerant would be more appropriate I feel as it was obvious we weren't allowed in the main body of the restaurant but seated isolated twixt here and adjoining pub. Myself and partner had rump steaks, both of which were very tough, accompanied by a salad that was drenched in the sweetest dressing I have known. Chips, certaiy seemed packet cooked from frozen! Certainly not worth what was paid. Almost fine dining prices for mediocre pub grub. Very disappointing overall.

Absolutely super food, home cooked and a delight to eat. Great team, warm welcome and one of our favourite places for lunch or dinner.

My friend and I found Ollies by mistake and what a find.We were so impressed with the surroundings, service and food that we just decided to go again. Exactly same, the staff are very friendly and the food was same standard. The bar and restaurant area is sort of split into three although its open plan and then you have the Lifeboat Room.Definitely worth another visit. Just wished they had put dumplings with the Guinness Steak Stew instead of pie crust, meat melted in my mouth.

Popped in for breakfast over the Christmas holiday.I had a full English and the wife ordered poached eggs on toast. When the meals arrived, the wifes poached eggs had turned into fried eggs and they were served up on bread that was warmed up and crusty on the edges rather than toasted. Not the best and at least half of it was left.My meal was tasty and had good quality ingredients, could have done with being a lot more of it though because it was quite a small portion.Main problem was the baked beans which were served in a small pot on the plate. They had obviously been microwaved to about 6 million degrees and on the first taste, I burnt the roof of my mouth ! I'm writing this a week later and it still hurts when I eat anything hot. My fault really for not being more careful I suppose but those beans were ridiculously over heated. It was an OK meal but not good enough to make us want to go again.

Went to Wells on a whim and glad we did. Saw this pub as we walked up the main street so decided to pop in. Lots of spaces and easy to find a seat. Kind of split into pub area and food area which works well. Two pints of Wherry only £6. Well kept beer. Nice to sit and relax for a while.

Very much a pub with attached dining. Dog made to feel welcome. Service very friendly and efficient . The food wasn't spectacular, but good and there was plenty of it at a very reasonable price.

I had lunch with my elderly parents today. My father enjoyed his sausage but my fish pie filling wasn’t nice and some of the fish didn’t taste fresh, the mash topping was nice but the filling was a poor attempt at what can be a lovely tasty dish. My mum had the beer battered fish and chips. The beer batter was overpowering to the fish and tasted like the oil was old. I tried some of my mums and agreed with her. It’s two years since I have eaten here and it was a disappointment.

If you want to eat awful and not healthy than best you camp in. Food is cold, staff are rude and faces like they don't wanna be there. Short woman was very rude and you could hear them shouting out the back. Some man who appeared to be friends with them messing around outside. This isn't what i like to see when eating out. HUGE let down girls. They need to be more polite and have a better manner and not shout so much!!!

Stayed overnight, dinner was good, breakfast was atrocious! Over cooked bacon, sausages, hash browns and eggs, whether, poached or fried were hard and burnt. The toast was beyond crispy, frightened to eat the crusts in case we broke our teeth. The room was nice, Myrtle, needs a long mirror on the blank wall near the plug points. Staff friendly and accommodating at dinner.
