Food was excellent staff very helpful and lovely atmosphere

Good food and didn't break the bank

My experience on 1st April at the restaurant was really good and there were no issues on the day, however trying to book the table was really difficult, I tried booking online on 26th March and the table was for 11 people, I received an email to say that the booking enquiry had gone through, then I received another email saying ‘booking enquiry cancelled’ but gave no reason why. I then rang the pub on 28th March to say that I had received this email, the lady on the phone said it was because you can’t book a table of 11 online as the max is 6, however the drop down would actually let me select 20. I then asked if I could book the table over the phone and she said no I had to go in and book. As I only work down the road I popped in after work to book the table, the lady wasn’t the most friendliest and didn’t seem like she wanted to take the booking, she then said I needed to pay a £5pp deposit and make a pre order, I asked if I could send the pre order on the Monday as I had finished work for the weekend and the table was with work colleagues, she hesitated and went into the kitchen and then came back to say that should be fine but we might not be able to get what we order. I then said I could pay the deposit but she asked if I could go in the next day to pay it. I don’t understand why I couldn’t just pay it there and then? I managed to get everyone’s pre orders by creating a watsapp group. I popped back in the next day, 29th March, and me and my boyfriend were going to have some lunch as well. I ordered our meals at the till, the lady repeated it back to me and I confirmed. We then waited nearly 45 minutes for our meals to arrive and when they did arrive they weren’t what we order, the lady then argued with me at the table to say that I had asked for the wrong thing, she went back to the kitchen to ask if we could have them swapped but it was going to be another 45 minute wait so we chose to just have our money back. I then went to the till to ask to pay the deposit for our table on 1st April and submit the pre order, I was told that I would receive a payment link to pay the pre order, again I still don’t understand why I couldn’t just pay there then. I never received a link, I didn’t want to ring on Mother’s Day as I knew it could be busy. I rang on Monday 31st March to let them know that I hadn’t received the payment link, the lady then sent it again and it did come through. Overall it wasn’t a good experience to try and book a table, it didn’t feel like anyone wanted the custom.

Went for a belated birthday lunch with my daughter and her husband. It was busy-ish, but didn’t expect to wait 40/45 minutes to be served. Ordered chicken and mushroom pie with a shortcrust pastry It tasted more like puff pastry and could only taste the sauce with a hint of mushroom and hardly any chicken. The peas were also hard and cold. To make up for it, I thought I’d treat myself to a pudding. I had the sticky toffee with cream. It was honestly the worst I’ve ever had. It just tasted of sponge and a sweet sauce. There was no dates or anything to resemble sticky toffe. Needless to say, I won’t be going back

Staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food is always tasty and high quality. Drinks are reasonably priced. Great atmosphere

When I visited the Wirral, the staff was really nice to me and took me over to my seat, asked if I wanted anything to drink or food. But sammy behind the bar was impeccable, she also makes the best porn star martini

Always a great atmosphere, great selection of ales (every fifth one free!), great value food and warm welcoming, friendly staff. A regular haunt. Highly recimmended.

Fab time as always! 18 of us went for a Birthday celebration. Sarah and the other staff were fantastic as always and are a credit to the pub.

Waited 40 minutes for 2 adult meals ( baguettes and chips ) and 2 kids meals. Basic food, fine but nothing fancy. When I enquired re length of time taken and that my kids were getting hungry was informed this length of wait was standard. Also a few orders had gone in just before us. 40 minutes for what we ordered seemed excessive. It would have been nice to have been warned lots of orders had gone in before us and there would be a wait especially with young kids present. When this feedback was given I was made to feel like I was the problem and being unreasonable. Won’t be coming here again .

Booked table in advance and got a booth with own screen to watch football and was greeted by the staff Cerys and Sarah, and served by Sammi, Rebecca and Sarah on the bar. Me and my friend decided to get the Ultimate Spicy beef burger and the ultimate chicken platter served by Sonia and Amberley. we both finished the meals both and they were amazing just like the deserts of cookie brownie and sticky toffee pudding we got to cheer us up after the match Compliments to all the staff working

Went on sunday with friend to watch football and have food. Food was great probably best ive had in the area, staff were very polite and nice sammi served us when we got deserts and sonia and amberely was the one who brought food, sarah and cerys were also on the bar. All compliments to the staff.

Just a shambles. Booked at lunch time on-line on the day. When we arrived, I was told I hadn’t booked. When shown the confirmation with date and times I was told it was missed due to bookings not being checked since the morning!!! When we ordered, we were told there would be ‘a bit of a wait. ’ A bit of a wait’ turned out to be 1.5hrs for our mains after the starters.. Fortunately we ordered the two kids meals to come with the starters which took 35 mins. The TV which had a big premier league game on was switched off at the request of a birthday celebration party,. When asked , not just by us, but other tables too , for the tv to go back on, we were told that because the table was booked in advance they had requested for the tv not to be on!!!!???? We booked in advance didn’t we? There was no sound on the tv, what was the issue? You advertise any match any day and even have tv’s in the booths showing sport. No one was offered the choice of another table it was ‘shut up and put up attitude’

Had a great meal with my Dad for a catch-up here. BEST CHICKEN AND BACON SALAD I'VE EVER HAD. And I've been around.

Listed the Wirral for a catch up with friends and have tea. warm and comfortable atmosphere, Staff were lovely and attentive. Food was delicious, cooked just right.

Sammy and issy are both lovely really great service from the both of them everyweek. Pour the perfect pint, really nice to everyone and always have a big smile on their face! <3

We had a fantastic time. Staff could not of been better. We can't wait to come back. And my kids are excited for another meal out there. Only place they will eat a full meal.

5⭐️ Staff were very accommodating and made our meal after Chester Zoo a great end to the day. Highly recommend the Maple Hot Wings they were crispy, saucy and delicious. And thanks to the lovely Sonia for checking on us and making sure we were well taken care of.

Came for a meal before heading to the lanterns at Chester Zoo, staff were all really friendly, especially Sonia. Food came really quickly, very tasty. Well worth a visit.

At the moment there is an offer on for 30 percent off main courses so it gets very busy and today was no exception so consequently you have rather a long wait for your food but when it arrives it’s excellent. They are very short staffed and they are very hard working but they just can’t cope and you never see the manager or his wife at all helping out, they are very lucky to have such good staff but the way they are treated it’s a wonder they are keeping them.

we all had a lovely time here celebrating mums 90th with a lunch for 10. Food was good quality, hot and tasty. Drinks were good. Staff were all very friendly and we felt looked after. Sarah was very helpful with the arrangements and the cake!

Great little pub izzy at the bar was lovely great service!

Me and my friend both said our pints tasted funny, so I took them back and let the lady know and asked if we could have new pints, she told us they'd been serving them all day and no one else had complained. She went to get the manager, who repeated that no one else had complained. No apology, no customer service. He reluctantly gave us two pints of another brand but they tasted funny too so we left as we didn't feel like we could raise it again. Something is wrong with their pumps or dishwasher I would say but they both made it out to be us, the customers, who were the problem. Both moody and both need to go on a customer service course. We went elsewhere and were met with a smile and had a couple of lovely pints each!

Had piri piri chicken melt, was ok till I saw really brown chicken, looked like it was left in open for a while. I only noticed this when 3/4 of the way through the meal, put me right off, won't go back.

The older gent that works there can sometimes be quite rude. He is the manager I think. All the other staff are really friendly. Foods always good

Cozy pub, I tried pizza, hunter's chicken, mixed grill, chicken tikka masala, salad with chicken, chicken wings, lasagne with beef and it was all delicious. Excellent beers, I prefer Brooklyn and very kind service. Large parking. Also recommended for families with children.

Well done, choose the lunch time menu, what a great idea to have smaller portions, as not everyone wants a large meal, also had the mini dessert the waitress was very pleasant and attentive, see you again.

My friend had chicken burger which she was full of praise but my lasagne although was quite nice the edges where burnt and the portion of chips was expensive for the amount you get.

Brought visiting friends for a lunch time treat and that’s just what it was, they hard a hard time choosing from the varied menu and said they made the right choices, food hot, quickly served and plentiful. Staff friendly and courteous as usual, friends very impressed and advised they would like to go again when they visit us. Well done Wirral Hundred, another gold star from me.

Went for dinner with my 2 children we all had fish and chips and it was delicious. We all had the apple crumble with custard for desserts and they were yummy. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough to help us.

Had gorgeous fish and chips, so fresh and honestly such good value. Lots of good wine choices too! The kids loved their pizzas.

Hunters chicken was tasty. Not too much portion are fair.

Nice pub restaurant , was a bit quiet when we arrived at 1700 but by the time left at 1900 was becoming very busy . There was a wait for food of about 25 minutes but we was advised when we put our order in . I had a Margherita Pizza which was lovely and tasty , all meals where served to ud with a smile .

Popped in for an evening meal with my wife, son and his girlfriend. Never been before so didn't know what to expect. Great bar staff and waitress service. Had an enjoyable meal and drinks all round a great pub. Thanks Sammie for the warm welcome and great smile. We will see you again soon...

On our way back from Cheshire Oaks and we called in here for lunch. They have some very reasonably priced meals and I tried out the Scampi and chips for main meal and Jam sponge pudding for dessert. Both meals were very tasty and were a good size for the price. They had a good selection of beers and ales and service was excellent. They also have large beer garden outside and quite a big carpark.

Very clean and a welcoming atmosphere. Despite it being very busy I was served quickly and made to feel like a valued customer. Staff were friendly and were constantly clearing up and keeping the place tidy

Pint was flat. Asked for a new one. Drama unfolded. Customer service -20

Excellent pub for food drinks & atmosphere

Great atmosphere and it’s become a favourite of mine for a mid week post gym/fish/run/any reason catch up with friends. Shout out to Izzy on the bar who always welcomes us with a friendly smile. A nice touch is the frozen San Miguel glasses on a sunny day, great idea by the pleasant manager. Thanks team.

Plenty of seating, good atmosphere and helpful staff. My chicken burger was lovely. Only negative is that garlic bread on daughters meals was burnt and inedible.

This is our second visit to have a mixed grill and both times it hasn’t been. available because you didn’t have all the meats available.No apology from staff just a blank look.

Not a bad experience. Went to watch the rugby and enjoyed the time I was there. Didn't eat and had a few pints of lager as it was a hot day and prices were reasonable.

Visiting friends in the area they bought us here - basically because they love it ! We can see why. The staff were lovely and friendly, the food was very tasty, and it was all incredible value. What a lovely, relaxing place to meet and catch up. My lasagne was delicious, and came with a very generous salad in a very scrummy dressing . My friends love the fact they serve craft beers here too. We shall keep coming back !

Working out of town, this is my go to pub for a good pint and great evening meal. Really relaxing atmosphere, great staff and customers friendly

The bar was very busy and food took a while, but we were warned and didn’t mind too much as we had the bargain Prosecco to keep us going! We both had pizza and it was delicious!

We had a table of 10 booked - we pre ordered some of the food and had to order some on the day. The food was great and the prices were extremely reasonable. I work round the corner and often visit alone at lunch but my colleagues said they will be coming with me now!

Staff were very good, but service was a bit slow (45 mins for two burgers) even though the place was fairly empty. Also the Cowboy Burger is not very special - just a bun and a plate of fries!

DON'T BOTHER. Spend £94 for 4 of us (didn't stay for deserts) 2 had mega mixed grill, one was missing the chicken went to bar to advise staff told yes there was, didn't even come to table to check,THERE WASN'T!!. No apology, made to feel like a liar. Put a dampner on our visit, none of us then finished our meal, but wasn't that great, but hey the dogs will be made up when we get home with all the meat. Won't be going back.

My friends and I have lunch every week staff are brilliant nothing to much trouble and food is always spot on we have been coming here for a few. Weeks now and will certainly be going to the tributes acts when they are on ,and if the food is as good as we have had so far we shall continue coming

Decided to grab a bite to eat and we both went for the New kebabs, the wife had mixed meat and I had the chicken. Both came with fries but they let me swap to chips as I'm fussy but it wasn't a problem. Food was piping hot and tasted delicious, just sadly no room for the triffle cheesecake as soooo full....Next time? All the staff were very helpful and friendly checking on every one making sure the place was neat and tidy, very impressed. All in all a great day at the pub and England won so added bonus 😀 👍 Until next time Team Wirral 100 😉 Keep up the hard work!

Just been to celebrate mum and dad's wedding anniversary and we have had a fantastic meal. Big fat hot chips, best chips ever, hot moist chicken, scrummy sticky toffee pudding wow! Service quick, isobel on till lovely and helpful, Carol our table waitress was so warm and friendly and nothing was a problem. I booked a table, stating dad has dementia and feels the cold, we were given a table next to a radiator, dad was made up saying how lovely and warm it was. Thank you for a lovely time your all amazing especially how busy the pub was with a funeral party going on.

Don't normally don't give bad reviews but the food here was awfull, peri-peri baguette did not taste nice at all. My meal didn't come as it said on the menu had to pay extra for thing that should of been with it, wife jacket potatoes was rock hard, coffee machine gave us vile drink that staff threw away, men doing repairs in toilets whole experience was very bad sorry and I'm easily pleased. Whole set up needs looking at e.g food quality, staff training cleanliness of pub, real let down sorry.
