Tucked away in Chester city centre. All sorts of tribute bands. Comedy nights as well I think 🤔 £14 entry was pricey but the band was decent. Friendly atmosphere.

I love this venue and they have some great gigs here. Small, intimate venue with a great outside space where bands also play. We saw the Blockheads play outside, absolutely amazing. Have good bars. Never eaten here. Staff are really helpful and friendly. This place is a must to visit. Looking forward to our next gig end of this month.

If you're looking for a small venue with great live performances, check this out! They have a fantastic mix of bands, comedy performers and other artists. We went to a be-bop gig and it was awesome. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We needed a table for our friends, and although most of the area is standing only, they set up a table for us so we all had a brilliant night!

Amazing little venue, first time, will , definitely be going back, it's basically behind Iceland if you're using the wall, Google sent me left instead of right which gave me a nice little 3 mile walk out of the way as I lost signal, so go right and it's a short walk, ( Iceland is 57 Frodsham St, Chester CH1 3JJ) I had no end of problems centering maps, even on another phone on another network, so back to the venue, staff are brilliant, very happy and friendly, the sound in there is amazing, and there is a really great vibe to the place , went to see the amazing Crowded Scouse, there is seating but it is limited get there early, I Will definitely be going back there,

Don’t book this venue to watch a show. Overcrowded been pushed squashed by people as too many people for the venue! Booked to see bootleg Blondie did not get to see her. Ended up sitting outside with plenty of other people who had paid good money to see her! Health & safety risk as the place that packed people didn’t realise there was two steps and people missing them but good job the place was packed as they didn’t fall the crowds saved them. Don’t book unless you want drinks split on you as people couldn’t t get passed unless squashing you and spilling their pints on you as no room to move. Not the best venue absolute shambles a disgrace if I’m honest book bootleg Blondie at Shrewsbury I’ve been told better venue & a safer venue

We hosted our son’s Rock Star themed party for his 6th birthday at Alexander’s. We couldn’t have found a better venue . This is such a special place . Live music fans will be in Heaven at any time here but the venue lent itself perfectly to a birthday bash for 50 6 year olds and around 45 adults . It is safe, welcoming , charming and quirky in equal measure . The staff were absolutely brilliant. They gave five star treatment to all our guests. Jamie and his team did everything to ensure everything went perfectly . Food, drinks, service , ambience all spot on . A great dance floor space and the picnic tables outside in the field meant plenty of space for kids to let off steam and adults to enjoy the sunshine . A wonderful party venue for all ages !

What a fantastic night we had on Saturday for our friend’s 60th birthday. I contacted Alexander’s the week before via their dedicated accessibility email address, as 2 of our party have mobility issues. When we arrived we had a reserved table with a great view, and the staff were soooo helpful in directing us to disabled loo etc. The band (a Spandau Ballet tribute) were absolutely fantastic, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Such a fabulous small, intimate venue, perfect for live music. Thankyou to all at Alexander’s for the BEST night!

Went on 4/4/24 to see Cold Flame who were an excellent Jethro Tull tribute band, table was reserved as requested. My only concerns are the venue was cold. lt was happy hour and got changed £15 .20 for pint of lager and a double bicardi and diet coke (off the pump, not a can). After happy hour,it is 10%more. I feel this is rather expensive . Also disabled toilets in another bar across the courtyard

We attended ‘The Stumble’ gig 16/3/24. Alexander’s is a great place to see a band. Acoustics are great and so is the intimate atmosphere. Toilet access is ‘ Wetherspoonesque’ upstairs. Not always ideal!. Bar is well stocked and, to be blunt, pricey. Staff work hard and are very helpful and friendly. There’s always a downside to attending gigs and Alexander’s is no different. People talking when the act is on. These people don’t realise that they are shouting to compete with the PA system. Just go outside and allow me to enjoy what I’ve actually paid to hear. Would we go again?. I think so. The management can’t control every eventuality but they could try harder.

Went to see the band The Stumble and they were excellent. All though this is a live music venue it is late drinking bar. Don’t expect an early finish. Start times are approx and all though venue stated 9pm it actually started 9.30pm. The stage is about 6m x 4m and is level with a similar size dance floor. There are two tables on the dance floor side. Beyond the dance floor there are two steps up and the bar area. There are about 4-6 tables in the bar area. It was not full but I imagine it slow getting to the bar if full. There are some additional bar stools on a raised area adjacent the dance floor. The venue is very open about its variable starts and that it’s a late bar. They also warn you if you are seated you may not be able to see the band if busy. I like this as you get what you expect and shouldn’t have complaints. If you all want to drink and can’t walk home expect to get cabs. Last train to the Wirral and Liverpool is 11pm. It’s about 20min walk from Chester station. Check for other areas. Recommend you contact venue before hand to find worse case finish time. I did and they responded quickly from their contact page. They sell real ale at £5 a pint which is more expensive than some other live venues. They had Doom Bar and Chester IPA session ale. The latter lacked any taste. The guest ale wasn’t on.

A nice place and it sees me regularly.. friendly staff and not overly expensive...if I am to be honest its poorly designed in the fact that the venue is a terrible shape and small, and the WC is upstairs and...leaning on the side of Bijou this of course is the fault of the building and not the good people that work there ,who to a man are extremely considerate and professional.

The Live Music nights and security are very good, even though the stage/front area is a bit small. The toilets have been the same for years and could do with a spruce up. We have eaten here a few times now with our little dog, staff very friendly, there are obvious signs about the parking with a tablet at the bar to enter your reg number, the pin is displayed next to this. Good range of food quickly served, twice when we came they were recovering from disastrous floods so the menu was slightly limited, the food was still good though. Lovely setting to sit out by the river and regular entertainment at weekends. Keep it up Red Lion!

Went here for a nice little coffee. Was served by a youngster called Dylan who dropped it all over the table. What a silly sausage. The cafe itself stunk, the surrounding houses smelled of sewage. The north of puddington smells worse than the south. It's really not worth the pain. Stay well away

My visit was for a lunch with friends. The pub was their local, not one they frequented but it was convenient. It was a memorable visit for all the right reasons. I was welcomed at the bar with smiles and I explained that one of my party had allergies. The checking of the ingredients was really thorough, the food came and it was hot, fresh and delicious. I appreciated all the effort that went in to ensure we had a great time and felt safe. Totally worthy of recommendation and repeat visits.
