Old Skools Cafe Bar in Torbay

Love old skools it's a good place with good staff.on spotted Torquay someone has put they got spicked they never it's an angry old member off staff.so please don't listen to nasty comments check it out for yourself.

Bloody marvellous night. SHAMELESS .... Was minding my own Bees Wax when an invite across the Rd seemed too good to miss. Why not indeed on 1 of my HOMELESS days wanderings ...wasn't dressed for it. A trolley in 1 hand a rucksack in the other. Was to stay an hr but the people were so friendly (to me anyways) nice to see a few people whom I've not seen in a while & maybe a few new nods as I walk on by. Great eve. Nice 1 Fab atmosphere

Quite a large bar just off the 'High Street'. Mainly locals but found them and the staff welcoming. Bit low on ale and wine choice and could do with more central seating to improve the ambience. At present the seating is all around the edge leaving a large open space in the middle. But my wife loved it.

To many kids allowed in an adult pub there untill all hours day and night not enough seating .it needs redecorating use to love this pub but not now .dri ks are reasonable staff are good nothing else good about it needs sorting out get the kids out of the pub ad no food ser Ed it's just an adult pub not suitable for children.?

Ok place if your the older generation

We come to torquay on average 3 times a year and always have a few pints here. Never been overpriced and great character pub. However, this year 2 pints of Carlsberg cost £9.20?? Currently the dearest local pub Torquay out of the harbour (and we drink in quite a few!)

A " genuine " pub atmosphere, unlike many modern establishments. Regular clientele and friendly, helpful staff. Great value carvery on Sundays, well worth a try.

Absolutely disgusting. The place is filthy and it stank. Also I was with a group of friends and one of them didn't drink and asked for just tap water. She was told to by a drink or leave. I will never ever go here again. We ordered food. It all came out wrong, was cold and no apologies were made. Worst pub in Torbay. Hands down. If you want salmonella eat here!!! Yea, it's old skool alright!! Haven't bothered to update the decor EVER!! This is a bar for alcoholics! Also I love how my one star review won't show up!! They must have written all the good ones themselves! ! What a joke and what a disgusting place with nasty staff.

Have to go a long way to beat the roast dinner on Sundays 7 to 8 veg 3 types of spuds chicken, beef, lamb and pork. Best roast dinner I've ever had.

A up and coming pub with very friendly staff and locals, prices are the cheapest I seen at any pub in Torquay and the Sunday roasts are good size portions.

Came in here for a quick drink as was passing and just wanted a quick sit and a nice pint... Nothing to complain about.. Got what I paid for and would visit if passing again.. Really convenient for all you blokes who fancy a pint while the other half does the shopping..

Fell upon this café bar, very quiet at first, I decided to put some tunes on the dukebox and oh my god did it liven up, everyone started dancing, then people were introducing themselves to us, I told them we were in Torquay because it was my birthday, they were very friendly and bought me a drink. We had a snack in there my partner had chicken wings, the food took a while to come out, but the cook explained that the first lot of wings he had done he wasn't happy with, so he did some more, which I thought was very good of him, my prawn cocktail was to die for, loads of prawns and a very fresh salad.

The drinks were ok and we'll priced. But the food was dreadful. I ordered steak with chips peas onion rings and mushrooms. I got a piece of leather and chips. Nothing else on the plate. They had to go cook the rest after I complained. My wife faired no better her rib eye steak was also no better than shoe leather.

We recently visited the Old Skool on a hen weekend. This pub is tucked away just off main shopping street on Princes Rd. 100 yards up Market Street. This was not somewhere we would normally go, but was full of atmosphere and fun, lively quirky genuine welcoming friendly staff and customers. Landlord Jaime was amazing, we had only intended on staying for one drink as a pit stop, but after Jaime had supplied us with three platters of food we made a bit of an afternoon of it - the food was amazing and so very very generous of Jamie, this set us up for the day for our early evening of drinking. Well done a real gem and if we were in the area again would definitely go back – thank you so much for making our weekend special.

Old Skools is 100 yards up Market Street just off the main shopping road in Torquay. The food is excellent and I can recommend the Sunday Roast. I much prefer eating here than one off the big chains on the high street.

We found this just passing as its not right in the middle of the town. We called in for a drink . and was very pleased it was clean friendly and welcoming. We asked the bar lady about Sunday lunch and she said she would reserve us a table if we wanted food as we were going shopping. We came back and she had kept us a table looking out the window with plenty room. The food was delicious and plenty of choice. Only one negative the chief that was serving was miserable as and didn't bother to smile or speak. Other than that a lovely experience and would highly recommend it x

Me and my best friend literally walked past this place and thought, No. But the food was excellent, the owners were amazing and I cannot recommend it enough, worth a sunday lunch trip.

Been here a few times service is slow but food ok for the price cheap local place to eat and drink friendly I think the owners have tried very hard

Sunday lunch was good but just not hot enough apart from that it could be so good and they would clean up as that are the only carvery in town

Best Sunday dinner I've had in a long time

The food is simply superb and it's good value for money. Whether you're on holiday or a local, the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. Sunday carvery is excellent and there's plenty of choice of meats and vegetables. They also have pizza and steak nights and the quality of the food is amazing. Loved it!!!

We arrived at Torquay lunchtime and needed to feed the kids. We came across Old skools Cafe bar. we thought, from the outside it looked like a drinkers pub, but decided to go for it. There was a warm welcome as we sat down. The food is simple and very cheap. 2 Adult, 2 kids meals (kids meals included a drink and ice cream) and 2 drinks for us adults came to under £20!The food was decent enough, especially for the money. The only downside was a bit f swearing from the pool table area but i suppose it goes with the turf.Would recommend certainly for those on a budget!

we live in bradford w yorks and this is our 3rd visit we normally eat here midweek so it was nice to find a sunday carvery which i must say was fantastic with a good choice of meat and veg chef served up good sized portions of meat then we got our own veg, it was all excellent also the staff were very nice and helpful and the drinks were also excellent quality and value £5.00 per portion and £5 ish for two drinks cider and a glass of wine wish you were in bradford thanks very much old skool for a great lunch

Been twice, Sunday carvery was excellent and great value. Also had 2 really good pizzas with chips for a tenner. Very friendly and a great atmosphere, will defonatly go back.

Excellent carvery at an unbelievable price, best carvery I've had in a long time, everything cooked perfectly, the choice of veg etc was brilliant there was just so much of everything, I will definitely be going back at the end of May bank holiday and the landlord and his wife and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Good food that doesn't disappoint at a fair price, within easy reach of shops, parking and transport.
