Don't know how to make decent roast potatoes!

Picked here as a central location to meet family. Really nice place. Atmosphere was perfect to catch up. Nice and peaceful. Food was brilliant and served in decent time. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Will be back again now we know of this central spot.

We chose this place as a central place to meet up for a birthday. We were very impressed with the lovely food and service. Dan served us and he was friendly, attentive and efficient. I had the vegan options - a fantastic garden salad with pea puree and coronation chickpeas followed by a mushroom bourguignon wellington. The rest of our group had Sunday roast and all our meals came with great sides - more than usual. Many places don’t bother being creative with the vegan options but this place does. It surpassed our expectations to be honest! The soft drinks menu was really good too, many more options than usual. Bravo!

Blandest Sunday lunch we have ever had pre cooked warmed up. Serly abrupt staff wouldn’t recommend

Iv been going there for over 30 years It is a lovely place weather to just go for a drink or some food I can recommend it.

Visited last night , venue and location great 👍, food was very poor supreme burgers 1 star , mcds big mac would be better , kids meals pizza , frozen 1 pound pizza 🍕 over all very disappointing with such an amazing location. Drinks spot on .

Arrived just as kitchen was closing but could not have been made to feel more welcome. What a wonderful customer service experience. Would highly recommend. Lovely food and drinks in clean and welcoming surroundings

First time eating here, wondering why we haven’t been before! Lovely Sunday dinner at a reasonable price. Service was fantastic thank you Ian! The only thing that let our visit down as another family sitting near us but I can’t blame the restaurant for the behaviour of others.

Perhaps the best English meal I have had, and had plenty!, each part of the meal was given thought to presentation and taste, that chef loves his food!

Wonderful setting in an old mill, friendly and attentive staff. Great freshly made food and good selection of drinks.

We frequent the Old Mill not only because of the good food and service but that the music is background and suitable for a restaurant (as opposed to a club like some places).

Out for a belated mothers day meal and lovely attentive service as always. Always friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Cayllan provided excellent service and was helpful.

On arrival seated promptly, looked after by Cayllan always checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, drinks were always full. He was kind and polite. Couldn’t have done a better job. Thank you Cayllan

This place used to be really good and whilst the food is still nice the service is absolutely horrendous. Waited over half an hour for orders to be taken and then when it came to dessert we had to get our own menus as we were ignored and even after asking to see a menu one never appeared. Also whilst we were there a big rugby party came in and whilst only ordering drinks took over almost the entire area and we're shouting across the room which made the whole ambience poor. Won't be rushing back again 😔

Lovely bar and eatery, spacious but cozy with sone quirky features. Big fire, beams etc. Plenty of parking, dont forget to log your Reg when you go in. The 2 things that spoil this charmimg place... We found the food bland. This was my second visit and Im sorry to say both occasions were the same. I ordered a latte after my meal and waited 45 mins for it as there wasnt enough staff on the bar to look after drinkers and diners. On a very positive note, the guy looking after the diners was absolutely fantastic. Despite being very busy he remained calm and always had a pleasant smile. Im sorry I didnt get his name because Green king need more people like him!! An absolute credit to the company. Ill probably not return because of the food but Ill be back for drinks.

Another great experience at The Old Mill. Food is amazing. Staff are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We visited on Mother's Day and were looked after by the pleasant Dan! There's plenty of parking on site and it's a really nice atmosphere. We like it as it's not all open plan and the dining tables are just a few per room. The pub sits just by the river - so a nice stroll after your meal and it's ideally located just 2 mims from junction 25 off M62.

Lovely pub and staff, especially nice in the summer time both indoors and outdoors. However, food quality has gone declined over the last few years each time we've gone - not bad but very average especially for the price.

Good food, lunch menu reasonable prices, main menu very expensive.

Absolutely loved it when I dined here, Clare served me and was very lovely and understanding of my dietary needs, her food recommendations were amazing! Will definitely be coming back, the location the pub was in was also beautiful!

This was such a lucky bonus. We stayed at the premier inn next door while I was treating my mom to a birthday Emmerdale/corrie weekend and I didn't hold out much hope of the pub being anything but convenient. How wrong was I. The restaurant was beautiful even during the sudden rain storm. So welcoming from the minute you walked in. Staff all had smiles on their faces even though there were several busy moments. Incredibly polite. The food was O.M.G fantastic and everywhere was so clean. The brucie bonus of the evening was our server and all round entertainer Jamie aka Jam. He just charmed the socks off my mom and was just a delight to be around. The Management team should be very proud of the old mill and their team of fabulous staff.

Food was really good, probably best roast I've had. I really enjoyed the beef rib. And atmosphere was really nice. Great connection to motorway. Dan was great and couldn't be more helpful.

Lovely staff. very coeliac friendly and made sure i was confident in their food handling. The food was great. i had the pork belly which was lovely meat with sweet glaze with great gravy.

A very poor experience tonight for 4 of us. No drinks available, due to a gas leak, food was very overpriced and poor quality. Borrow gas from another pub or get an emergency delivery. They said it was fixed but they have to wait till tuesday. I am not the one for complaining, but I had to go to the bar to complain about my meal as nobody checked. It was very crispy and they charged me £15.50 for it. There was music blasting out of the kitchen as we left. They brought me back a burger which wasn't a full chicken breast.Very rude when we arrived. We paid over £120 for the food, and drinks! Won't be going back again- sorry. They never cleared our plates due to the fact they new we was not happy. We was hungry when we came out.

Food very average, stone cold gravy and cold chips, not what you would expect for the price, service slow and we found out half of our tables order was not available over 10 mins after ordering

We had a fantastic meal yesterday 9/3/25 the food is always beautiful me my wife and our baby granddaughter were served by ian who has truly amazing customer service he always finds you somewhere really nice to sit in this gorgeous building we were overlooking the river. i should of left a review before because this is the fourth or fifth time we have been and ian has served us every time and his standards never slip he could teach many a business about dealing with customers we will definitely be back you truly have to try the old mill you won’t be disappointed all the staff we have dealt with are brilliant and the relaxed atmosphere and charming old building make it a lovely experience

You could not ask for a better maitre'd than yesterday. If you ring ahead, and provide additional info, such as dietary, mobility, and occasion details (parties/meetings/anniversaries), they not only listen, but take the steps to accommodate you where possible. A quality of service that can be easily forgotten on reviews, however the level of care taken to make that night go smoothly made it well worth choosing this restaurant. Thankyou. You deserved the custom.

The restaurant was outstanding, lovely people (Ian and Dan), very friendly and attentive. The building is beautiful, soft quiet music playing which added to the relaxing, comfortable atmosphere. The food was amazing, fresh and tasty (I had the cod). I was travelling alone and staying in a local hotel, I am going to return this evening for dinner🙂.

I’ve only visited during lunch time. It’s never empty, the food is always perfect. The beer is perfect and the service is prompt and friendly. They can’t do enough for you and that’s why we go back again and again

Had a lovely meal, mine was the slow cooked lamb shank which had no gluten which was really nice. Our waiter Craig looked after us really well and was very helpful and friendly.

Really enjoyed our last visit. The food was the best it's been. Dan was really attentive to our table and went the extra mile to cool our baby's milk so she could be fed quicker. Great food and drinks as always.

After having been a few times for a drink, we decided to have our valentines meal here and thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff were friendly, great service and atmosphere and beautiful food. Steak cooked to perfection. Highly recommend!

The meal and the service was a amazing. There's a lovely selection of food and the chocolate fondant was to die for. And the staff have been really friendly and accommodating especially Dan. I thoroughly recommend dining here.

We came in here on a thursday at about 5pm, walked in and it was extremely quiet maybe about 8 people there at most including us, it took them 15 minutes to even ask us what we wanted for drink and didnt give us a chance to order food before leaving immediately for the drinks, took another 5 minutes for two coca colas and then another 15 to ask us what we wanted to order, coming to 35 minutes in total to let us order food, meanwhile its so quiet we can genuinely hear the staff behind the bar talking to eachother having a laugh which would be completely okay if we got to order our food but we knew what we wanted about 10 minutes before they asked us what we wanted to drink! absolutely ridiculous, we didnt even bother ordering the food and left and to top it all off the 2 cokes cost us £8.70 😨

Very good. Food reasonable. Will go again.however stuck with a 100 pound parking fine with no idea we had to enter a reg. Poor signs and not reminded by staff. Won't be going back

Gorgeous pub and delicious food

We came to The Old Mill for a date night, and we were served by Dan. We cannot fault the service. He was very attentive and we enjoyed our meal. We would recommend dining here, or just getting a drink at the bar. Great location too. We'll be back!

Come up from Birmingham and decided to stop off at the old mill for some food. Served by a great guy named Jamie. He made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in. He is friendly, helpful, and nothing is too much bother. Food is lovely and a beautiful environment to eat in, built in 1902.

Visited a couple of evenings between Xmas and new year, as we were staying in the Premier Inn next door. It was warm and welcoming. Dan and the other staff were all friendly and helpful. A nice pub, with decent food 👍

Came with a colleague staying at the hotel next door, they had stopped serving food but went out of their way to cook us some fish and chips each as we hadn't eaten due to the long drive....great service friendly staff, thanks to Dan who sorted food for us and was welcoming.

Always been lovely food, and sourced from around the area, and great service .The food is just a bit different from the run of the mill stuff ( no pun intended) and pay a tad more for but it’s delicious never been let down yet, only thing I would say is heating could of been turned up slightly, but was a very cold night outside

2 years since the death of my son, table booked for 10 people, (overlooking one of his childhood favourite places)followed by a number of friends popping in for a drink (or staying)!! We were quite loud and apologies to other diners. Thank you to the staff for the understanding and making us all feel comfortable to be together.

My only niggle is the portion size for the money. The fish and chips comes with a small saucer of mushy peas, not quite a dessert poon full. For 15 pounds, I want more. I deserve more! Service good though, thanks Dan.

Popped in on our way to Huddersfield, lovely little pub- great reasonably priced food and lovely country pub feel. But the reason for the 5 stars is mainly down to the staff that were on (29/12) each one was super friendly and welcoming. My nana has dementia and what I'm assuming is the manager was lovely with her, despite her memory problems she's been speaking about how wonderful he was all day! She says '5 stars, super duper gilly cooper!'

our visit today was for my wifes birthday we had the lamb shank shepherd pie followed by tripple chocolate brownie with ice cream which was outstanding our compliments to the chef, we would also like to thank dan who looked after us making our visit today a really enjoyable experience.

Outstanding service and food from The Old Mill today. We were a large party having Sunday lunch for a 90th birthday and everything was great, especially the service from Dan and Jamie. Food was cracking and very quick for such a large group. We will be back!

Duo chicken was chicken breast which was tough and a few small pieces of battered chicken that tasted more of batter than chicken.. No sauce for the rice which was hard to eat... Service by the young Scottish man was impeccable, however we were sat under some ventilation units that were blowing and making it very chilly.... Sorry, I won't be back 😔

Good food, plenty gluten free options.

I know it was a busy day but main courses came out cold and the deserts were a disaster. Christmas pudding over done to the point it was a solid lump then alternative chocolate lava was cold in the middle. Staff were great but did not make up for a poor meal.

We had the festive lunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Staff were very friendly and provided service second to none. Food was excellent.

Food was lovely, came out quite timely despite it being busy. Dan was also very helpful and recommended some good menu options, 10/10 service.

We was waiting for waiter over 10 mins before asked him can we order food. He never came to us. Pub looks OK.
