Great location by the river. Great service throughout. Had the Sunday roast, rare beef and trimmings, veg nicely with a little crunch and roasties that had been crisped. Only downside was the elderly in the group found cutting meat difficult with blunt knife’s. Syrup sponge desert is to be recommended !

Visited at lunchtime with my wife last Friday for a couple of drinks and some lunch.Drinks excellent as usual although a tad expensive and the staff were friendly but I was disappointed with my food and felt well and truly ripped off. My wife said her beef sandwich and truffle chips were fine. I asked for the pork pie and peas priced at £7 but was told there was no pork pie left but was offered steak pie instead and I said ok. However, when my meal arrived it came with chips which I didn't really want or order but I thought nothing of it. It wasn't great either to be honest as the mushy peas were quite acidic.I was shocked though when the bill came and I was charged £15.50 for my meal!! I complained and the barman apologised but did not offer to amend the bill.... hence I felt well and truly ripped off and I don't intend eating here again.

Lovely pub tucked away but we’ll worth seeking out. We were staying a few hundred yards away and were pleased we were. Excellent selection of cask ales in a lovely well maintained character pub. Lovely outside area on a nice day right next to the little river running past (hence the bridge). Lovely location. Food looked good but unfortunately we never got chance to try it. It does bed and breakfast as well I believe.

What a wonderful inn nestled by the Ryeburn river. We dined at the Old Bridge Inn as we had won a voucher for a two course meal for two. This was the first time we had visited but it will not be the last. We chose Fish & Chips, followed by Eton Mess and Biscotti Cheesecake. We were not disappointed. We would absolutely recommend the Old Bridge Inn.

We visited for the first time, after having found the pub by accident online. It is in a lovely location, set down from the road by a church. The interior is very nice and comfortable, with a fire burning in the room we were in. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the beers were good. My wife had the chicken liver pate, followed by smoked Haddock and spinach pancakes. I had the Scotch egg and piccalilli, followed by red pepper and spinach chilli. Finishing with rhubarb and apple crumble. We are already recommending the pub to our family and friends, and we will most definitely be back.

If someone had designed the best and most genuine old Yorkshire pub then this would be it. It’s proper old, none of this made up stuff and the staff are super friendly. Great honest British food, well cooked. I had steak, cooked perfect and the chips were golden brown with loads a flavour. My wife had their trademark fish pancakes, something I haven’t seen anywhere else, it’s like a fish pie but layered with pancakes. If you’re passing Ripponden, make a detour and go to the most proper Yorkshire pub, something to tell your grandkids.

Dropped in here for a quick pint on a damp and chilly evening. Lovely welcome and great beer. The real fires drove out the damp and the lack of music was just as welcome. A traditional country pub unspoilt by passing fads and a great place to relax with friends and good conversation.

Called in to The Bridge for lunch whilst out walking. (They have made a seating area outside with socially distanced tables, which are cleaned on a regular basis, and this is ideal for me because I’m still not keen on going inside pubs.)We sat at a table and my husband popped inside for a menu and a couple of drinks. He came out with the single use menus and was soon followed by a member of staff who took our details without any fuss. The staff are fantastic here. They’re are efficient, polite and friendly. We took a look at the menu and opted for a Cajun chicken baguette with hand cut chips and a hot roast beef (with gravy) baguette and fries. The food was really yummy but because the portions are so generous we couldn’t finish it all. Looking forward to calling in again.

We attended on a Wednesday afternoon having forgotten to pre-book, but a table was found for us which we appreciated. It’s many years since our last visit and we just wanted a spot of lunch and a couple of drinks. We ordered drinks, a New Zealand Rose wine and a pint of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and can I just say at this point, the TTL was absolutely spot on, one of the best pints I’ve had in a long time. We ordered a Prawn sandwich, hot beef baguette and sweet potato and hand cut chips, lovely food and chips that tasted like they used to do. The young barman and waitress both did a exceptional job and I witnessed tables and chairs being constantly wiped down, they also ensured I logged my personal details in the book. Young people working hard and doing a great job. We will return over the winter months, the Timothy Taylor’s Landlord beer alone will ensure that. Thank you for a pleasurable visit and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Visited here after a 7.5 mile Nordic walk around Ripponden. The day was cold and overcast, but the pub had a roaring fire to warm us all up. Food was lovely, and we forced ourselves to have dessert :) Despite there being 16 of us all the food came out hot and everyone got the right order. A minor miracle with a large group! Not a pub to visit if you just want a drink. We lived in the village for many years. We wanted to bring a few friends to meet us for a drink as we were visiting from overseas. As a courtesy, we emailed the Old Bridge to advise them of our plans. In return we received an email telling us that they couldn’t serve people who only wanted a drink because the restaurant was always too busy. They did helpfully suggest we take our business to the Beesom pub, just up the road!!

Having looked at the website first, my immediate thought on entering was that this was a little more downmarket than I thought. However, the friendly staff soon put us at our ease and sat us by the warm fire. In many pub/restaurants, the regulars seem hostile to outsiders but not so here - it felt very relaxing and we stayed longer than we usually do when eating out. Fascinating old building. My wife's steak was beautifully cooked. Limited vegan and veggie options and I'm not sure the spinach and feta pie quite worked but the whole feel of the place overcame any reservations. If we lived near Ripponden, this is definitely a place we would visit regularly - wish we had a similar one near us !

We visited here on the strength of TripAdvisor reviews but were very disappointed with our Sunday lunch. The starters were ok but the 2 slices of beef for main course were cut paper thin and were just stringy and chewy (so bad a diner on an adjacent table was choking and had to have others assist him). The Yorkshire pudding was over cooked and dry and the veg were all just plain steamed and boring. Gravy tasted shop bought. It just wasn’t a good meal.

Probably the best steak in Huddersfield, Halifax and district at the moment and two for £30 and a bottle of wine it is a bargain not to miss. This has always been a great place to visit. It's on of my Grandma's favourite places to eat. As time goes on she's found it harder to walk (she's almost 90) so usually goes out in a wheelchair. As this is an old building it's pretty much impossible to cater fully to all needs, however the staff here demonstrated that attitude comes way above any kind of policy, procedure or regulation. The toilets were down a couple of levels (four steps in all). No challenge at all for most, but a good 5 min journey for my Grandma. The staff moved heaven and earth to help her down those steps, one even accompanied her into the ladies (uncomfortable territory for a 30yr old male!)Thank you so much. You made our day so much more comfortable. And the food was great. My Grandma always likes to finish with the cheese board and though this was no longer on the menu they put something together for her.Amazing! I will be returning!!

Beautiful old pub in a great location, Very friendly staff served my colleague and I a perfect pint of "Timothy Taylors" & a very fine German Lager. Being a warm evening we took them outside passing the usual smoking brigade and 3 well behaved dogs. We would have stayed all night but the several mounds of dog mess put this out of the question. It was mostly in the shingle to the side of the pub next to the river. Must say it didn't seem to be bothering the other customers but perhaps us builders are more choosey about this kind of thing. So after the one pint we left and found another pub to quench our thirst.

It is a friendly pub/restaurant ... the owners and staff always have time for a chat, and there is usually a nice buzz of conversation from genuine people who like the real things in life. Sometimes there is a folk band playing in a corner, and in winter with the fire blazing it has such a welcoming atmosphere.

This was a very busy place full of character. The food and service was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful, when asked about specials etc the staff had the knowledge of the menu. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. The food was excellent but is was very crowded but that's due to its popularity. We would go back for another meal when we are back in the area.

As this is my local pub, I have visited here countless times for both meals and just to drink and I have never had a bad experience. This visit certainly, I'm pleased to say, followed that same pattern. It was my first time dining on a 'Guinea Pig Night' which occurs on the last Thursday of every month and I have to say that it won't be the last. For those of you who don't know what "Guinea Pig Night" is, let me explain. You book a table, turn up and then have a three course meal which is a total surprise. No one knows what you're gonna get.The starters arrived, presented beautifully. Homemade ricotta and wild mushroom ravioli served with a beurre noisette. Unfortunately, I am not the biggest mushroom fan, however the pasta was cooked perfectly and according to my dad, who is a big lover of mushrooms, the wild mushrooms were full of flavour and well complimented by the beurre noisette. Then came the mains, again, faultless presentation. It was a lamb dish to die for! Tender and tasty lamb served with a side of peas, broad beans and pancetta. This was a big hit with the both of us.The dessert encapsulated a truly British Summer. Clotted cream panna cotta with strawberries, a perfectly light dessert to follow a meal. At £20pp for all three courses AND after dinner coffee, the evening was exceptionally good value.A lively and exciting evening, made all the better by the great staff who, as always, were warm, friendly and welcoming.

We stopped here on our way back from the airport with friends. I phoned ahead to book a table for 4 for lunch. We were not disappointed. The building is lovely with ample car parking. We were welcomed and shown to our table and had the lunch menu. The home made soup was delicious and the salad buffet was again fresh and delicious. The accompanying bread was of good quality too. My friends tried the local beer and said it was very good. We also had desserts and the crumble was again home made and of good quality. The environment was very pleasant and friendly and the service was good. If you are in the area this is well worth a visit - not cheap but well worth the money for the ambience and good food. If you want cheap and cheerful go somewhere else. If you want an inn with history and character and home produce then this is a very good place for lunch, To be recommended. Our Australian friend thought it was wonderful and just what he wanted from his trip to Britain.

This is a busy pub that does very good food. The menu is limited and is not what I would call traditional pub grub. Service was good.

Came here a while ago for my birthday - it's a lovely old pub with lots of character, and the food was ok, nothing special. But what really let this down was that I asked for a sweet white wine at the bar, and the barmaid and landlord must not have thought I heard but she asked him which sweet wine to serve me and he said to give me the one that's most expensive. For this reason I will not be returning and giving my custom.

This is one of the prime examples of somewhere that makes you feel like they don't want your business, with speed of service and attitude. On top of that the prices are very high. You would expect some lovely home cooked food, but I'd say it was average at best. I recommend trying the beehive (Ripponden) or the moorcock (Norland) for similar character, but much better food and service. Or if in an evening I highly recommend Villa Margarita, which is good food and well priced.

I have to say this is a pub that has real potential. Unfortunately the staff and poor quality food let it down. The owner virtually rolled his eyes seeing us walk in with the kids. Then the service was slow and I was gob smacked by how average the food was.

It's a genuine old pub - whether or not their claim to be the UK's oldest pub is true or not. They have a great location alongside stream and some good local beers on tap. Well worth a visit.

Lovely Country pub with good service . The Buffet lunch is lovely fresh ingredients , lovely ham, beef, quiche & the best scotch egg I've ever had. The buffet is laid out & you help yourself fixed price for one or two courses. We went mad & had sweets too. I had a chocolate tart which was glorious & hubby throughly enjoyed the hot pancake with filling . We certainly didn't need any tea. It was a real treat & we will be back

The building dates back to the early 14th century and is full of history. Even walking across the arched bridge you can imagine horses clip clopping across. The food is lovely and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.Looking to spend another pleasant lunch time there when next in the vicinity.

I have ordered my son a meal from here a few times over the last 7 weeks. Everything has always been very nice, however today it was very poor. The chips smelled of cheap burnt fat and he said they were horrible and the burger was thrown together and slopped with sauce. He left most of it. It wasnt cheap either, alot to pay for cheap poor food.

A handsome old pub in the middle of Luddenden. Friendly staff and locals, a champion pint of Landlord too!
