Oceans Fish & Chips in Preston

Best fish and chips we have had for ages, freshly cooked as you wait, fish so fresh I’m sure it swam straight to the plate. The fryer man is a really nice friendly person, willing to engage in conversation if customer wants. Relaxing place for lunch no loud music belting outside to spoil your time there.

Went shopping in Preston before the pandemic and stopped at this chippy to grab something to eat. They were gorgeous, just done right, not too greasy and plenty of them, went shopping again for the first time since it all and thought I’d go back but was gutted to see it closed and I’d missed reopening by a week or so. Came on here to leave a review of somewhere else I’d eaten and was surprised at a review about here that wasn’t good saying they’d eaten here that day and it was cold. Of course the food was cold, it’s not open, how can they serve warm food to you when the fryers etc are not on. Hope this poor mean inaccurate review doesn’t stop people from going to this lovely place. I can’t wait to go shopping again nearby so I can go again, it’s a good job I don’t live nearby or I’d be the size of a whale

Such a brilliant find. Best feed I’ve had in a long time. Fantastic staff and lovely hot plates. Would highly recommend it to anyone. Ted is an absolute Supper chef.

The fish and chips are yummy, delicious, and reasonably priced. When I go shopping and I want to eat , I will prefer it over KFC, burger king and Macdonalds

Thought we would have fish and chips for lunch. Ordered O.K. then waited thirty minutes, which would have not been a problem if the service had been better. Asked the waiter for a straw and ketchup,never returned, went to counter asked for straw and ketchup, girl on til said I will bring them over, then just stood there with a blank look on her face. Got the ketchup off another person. she never moved and never got the straw. I ordered two prime cod and chips,should be readvertised as defrosted from frozen cod. It’s a shame they completely missed the mark and will not be going there again and will be advising my friends the same.

Ordered and repeated the order as requested to the girl who seemed to have trouble understanding what a battered sausage was. Waited quite a long time for what should have been a quick bite. The girl behind the counter didn’t even know when the fish was “done” and asked the guy,order was wrong & the guy basically told me scampi and chicken strips are the same thing. It is sad to see it has gone down hill from when the first opened and served decent food also if they think of other competitors like roast there bacon & sausages barms are too overpriced for what you get.

What ashamed - lost interest. Visited in the past and it has been excellent! Visited Saturday 23rd November 2019. The guy working was constantly eating - picking at food he was cooking for the customers and his uniform was filthy. Not as clean as it use to be. when the fish and chips arrived, the plate was swimming in oil as the oil must not have been hot enough for the fish. Chips overcooked as well. Will not be returning.

Very slow service, food not very hot, coffee was cold. Would not recommend. Even got order wrong. Took nearly 20 mins to serve up chip bun and a sausage. Another 5 minutes to bring 2 coffees

Whenever me and my girlfriend come shopping in Preston this is where we always come for dinner! The staff are very friendly and helpful, always ask about our day and have a laugh! The Food: WOW! The food is fantastically priced and is all fresh and delicious! The chips aren’t fatty which is rare in fish and chip shops, lovely! I don’t get people who are giving bad reviews for this place, staff, food and environment are all outstanding!

One very rude member of staff, too. (But easy to wind up if you're that way inclined - see his previous responses to bad reviews. Lol.)

been out in the fish and chips at oceans fish and chips ,,, a warm welcome by a young lady behind the counter , the man cooked it fresh for people ,, its was served on cupboard and a serving tray ,, its was the best fish and chips i ever had in my life and also had a chat the man ,he was very nice to talk to ,, if and when i come back to preston i will head to fish and chips for dinner \tea

Sitting on the seafront you eat fish and chips with your fingers. In a restruant one would expect to eat from a plate with proper cutlery. Not so in the Ocean Fish Bar, you are served on a small paper plate and given wooden cutlery. Trying to save the planet? Why are the peas served in a plastic container. The tea is also in a paper cup. You are also expected to clear your own table and put it in a strategically placed bin. I don’t like the Macdonalds culture, I do not like this type of service in a restruant. Are they adopting this theme to be green or just opting out of the washing up! The fish was fresh and nicely cooked, not a great quantity for the price. Peas are expensive for the amount you get. Overall I wish them well but will not eat there again.

This place is awesome, such friendly people, great service and great food, not a long wait either. Love going here, would definitely recommend.

I had lightly battered Haddock and my companion had Sausage Chips and Gravy. Both meals were excellent and freshly prepared to order - the chips were wonderful (I sampled one!), the fish perfect and perfectly cooked; all served with humour and genuine customer service skills. Prices very reasonable for the high quality of the food and service. Eco-friendly wooden disposable cutlery rather than the land-fill-filling plastic. Long may you continue here! Well done - and "I'll be back"!

When I was young I used to go to the chippy and ask if there was any scraggs. Bits of chips,small and hard. Thats what I got today. Sausage and scragg ends.

I had battered sausage chips & gravy. Hubby fish and chips. The batter is so light and not at all greasy! What ever it is you’re doing, keep doing it! Simple yet brilliant.

Came here yesterday ad not the first time food was lovely has was the staff would highly recommend if ur out and about

I was a visitor to Preston from Belfast and went here for my lunch. Very friendly manager - no complaints. Even found my Mastercard receipt when I forgot to ask for it. The fish and chips (£6) arrived after under 10 minutes. The fish was excellent - one of the best I have ever eaten. Gorgeous crispy batter - just melts in your mouth. The chips were brilliant also - not overcooked. I can't understand all the negative complaints - did they really visit here? Wish they had a branch in Belfast. Top marks all round.

I decided to try this chippy on my lunch break instead of Lune Street Chippy which I usually frequent.

I can only say is that the manager is vile,rude,ignorant and playing shop, i don't understand how this place is still open, the food is disgusting it stinks and the chips are dry family's are not welcome here customer service is needed here

First time eating here but what lovely freshly cooked fish and chips not swimming in grease like some places,young man behind counter very welcoming and friendly,we will definitely return.

Went here not long ago for my lunch, food is amazing and tastes so fresh and delicious! Good portion size for the price, the staff were so helpful, nice and friendly. Will definitely be coming here again without a doubt

Went in ordered food never bothered to tell me chips not ready probably be 10 minutes I'm on my break only get 30 minutes soon waiting one so.an got her money back bloke behind counter like a headless chicken, big queue of people waiting for food what's up with folk sitting at tables get up and get your food, well when he's doing mine DIDNT BOTHER TO ASK IF I wanted S&V; I told him NO VINEGAR I'm allergic to it what so he puts it on anyway so I get upset shake my head call him useless because he is, and walk out in disbelief because I can't spare another 10 minutes he had already killed my break but that is not where it ends

The place was lovely and clean - the staff were very courteous, friendly and polite. The fish and chips were very tasty. However I didn't really like my meal being served in a cardboard box and single use plastic containers for the peas, curry sauce are not socially acceptable these days. Single use cutlery was made of wood.

I didn't expect much from this place within a shopping centre but I at least hoped that the food would be edible. Sadly, all the meals the 4 of us had were close to inedible and a lot of the items were barely cooked. It wasn't expensive and the staff were friendly but I won't be returning. It really was pretty dire.

This place absolutely Stinks... it stinks the whole centre out and I would never set foot in it again.

I ordered cod,chips and peas, when it arrived the chips were over cooked and the cod was watery and didn’t taste of anything, neither did the peas. I asked for my money back which they gave me, they then proceeded to tell me it was fresh and did have a taste, substandard and back service

Good to see a new venture in the food court at St Georges.

I’m currently sat in here and ordered the Haddock with Chips and upon its arrival all I can say is WHAT THE HELL.

Not expecting to eat we came across this chippy, not from Preston we were surprised to find a traditional chippy in a busy shopping centre. The fish and chips were very nice and the staff were very friendly, the tables were clean and the food arrived freshly cooked quite quickly. Only down side, no small fish and chip meal for my mum.

Shopping centres usually have a number of café outlets. Trade is cean and individual businesses come and go. One of my favourites appeared to have closed Looking around I found Ocean fish and chips. A smart open front café and take away that was not there last time I visited the Centre. It's Menu offered a full range of modern fish and chip items. I chose simple Haddock and chips. It was good and priced at £5. A bargain when compared with a local pubs. offering at £14 with a few added peas. The food was hot and crisp. I shall go there again.

This is a nice smart chippy in the middle of St George's shopping centre with good quality chips and very polite, smartly dressed staff.

In the middle of St. George's there is this little chippy; good food (although if you have a fish ask for lightly battered) and it's so environmentally friendly. Recycled cuttlery which I love and so admire for a business with obviously high rent and business rates. Give them a go as we all need more businesses like this to be carbon neutral.

Visited this week with my wife for lunch, had to wait for a short while for a table to be cleared and cleaned.
