Ocean Blue Fish and Chips Datchet in Windsor and Maidenhead

Passing this place on my way to a job I was hungry, so I thought I’d give it a go. Wonderful cod and chips. I love fish and chips and have it on a regular basis. This has got to be top 5 on my list. Their curry sauce was TOP DRAW. My mouth is watering as I write this. I’ll definitely be back for seconds!

I don’t want to have to give them 1*, But I have to be honest. It’s now 1.5 hours since we ordered on the app and still no sign of delivery. I was enthusiastically recommended the app when I went in person; and felt that I should give it a go. Quite a big disappointment. And not the service one should expect.

I'm originally from Grimsby where every fish and chip shop sells excellent fish and chips, so I'm spoilt I guess. On a Friday as this happened to be , demand is high and fish should be fresh and ready to cook you'd think. The large haddock and chips was just a half fillet and tasted not fresh. In fact the fish was dry , overcooked and tasted like it had been defrosted in a microwave. That might explain the 12 minutes I had to wait, when 7-8 minutes should be ample time. After one bite I couldn't eat it, and I'm a fish lover. My dog wasn't so fussy. I won't be going back there and would not recommend it.

We’ve tried a lot of chippies over the years but we have to say this is one of the best. Crispy fried fish, mouthwatering doner meat - definitely not greasy. The birthday burger is a must for a treat but make sure you’ve got room because it’s big. To top it all the staff are warm and welcoming. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend this place.

Had an order from Ocean Blue Today and the Chips were amazing! 😋.......and even though we had them Delivered, they were still piping hot! Highly recommended 🙂

I tried this place out for the first time after my parents had told me about them and I’m glad they did! Best fish and chips I’ve had during lockdown, fish was made fresh and not too oily. Staff were very friendly and very welcoming, great service in all. I will be visiting again very soon! Great job guys!

Fantastic service. Just what we needed after a long day at the Theme park. Quick and efficient delivery and great customer service. Food to suit all the family. Highly reccomend.

Both the service and the product here is pretty awful. Rude, arrogant staff who make you wait 10 mins for chips. Don’t go here - walk 20 feet and buy from the much better Drunken Fish. That’s a proper fish and chip shop.

Friendly service, freshly cooked food which may take 10mins but is fresh and delicious and great value - what more do you want from a takeaway?

Tried to order from Just Eat but the order was declined by the restaurant 3 times. No reason but just because they can. I find if you can't deliver the goods then don't advertise that you can. False representation. I made my mind up, never again I will eat again from this place, this goes for anyone I know who have ordered before. There are many other places you can order from and orders get accepted. Obviously the restaurant is making too much money to need any more custom. Don't waste your time ordering something and then to be declined by the restaurant because they can't be bothered to deliver. Why they even advertising delivery on Just Eat. My advice, not worth the bother as there are other places.

Been a few times, popped in, ordered by phone or just eat. Either way, fantastic fish and chips. Plus lots of other options. The new managers are so friendly. Absolutely recommend if you fancy a fish supper.

I can honestly say these are the best kebabs and chips we have ever had and such great, friendly service! You definitely won't be disappointed xx

I just had my first delivery from Just Eat from Ocean Blue Fish & Chips. Never had food from here before. Food was lovely & Hot, mostly really nice, Chicken very dry though. Will use again but opt for something different.

really delicious fish and chips

Don't get me wrong the food was overall good. however there were so many problems with my order. I ordered two different burgers and they got the combo of sauce and toppings completely wrong. Also missing two main ingredients of the burger. never had a problem before but overall disappointed.

Huge portions and great tasty food, delivered to us even if it was a bit far than we're they usually do it. Will go down to the shop next time!! Deffinetly worth ordering! Big well done to the staff and very polite driver

Food is really nice but took just about 2 hours from order to receiving food. Delivery arrived about 35 mins late but was compensated with a large bottle of pop.

food is excellent, but have ordered here twice and both times has been a little late - worth the wait though!! sadly, this time they forgot to deliver the Pepsi I had paid for :(

Having recently been discharged from hospital and not being able to drive even to the local chippie I decided to try and order from this restaurant as the reviews seemed to be quite good. After spending my time placing the order on Just Eat, admittedly for just over the minimum of £15, they decided to decline my order. Needless to say I'm disappointed especially as there was no explanation given. I'm guessing they didn't want to deliver 3.5 miles away for the minimum spend on a Friday night. As I didn't even get my order I cannot give this restaurant a good rating. But I would be willing to review this if I place another order one day in the future and actually receive my order.

Lovely food as normal recently moved to area and have order 3 maybe 4 times and the food has been excellent every time can't wait to reorder again ;) x

I should have stuck to my belief that you never buy fish and chips from a kebab shop. Overcooked fish that tasted old. Chips were not fully cooked. I'll stick to the fish and chip shop in Langley village.

The food was very poor. The onion rings were just dried batter with hardly any onion in them. The chips had a funny taste - due to the oil not being fresh most probably. We weren’t satisfied at all with the quality of food I’m afraid. The battered sausage was also very greasy.

Visited the Ocean Blue one of my fave chippys but was dissapointed with the eratic service i receieved recently. I had to go through my order twice before it was correctly taken but the staff seemed to be running around getting frustrated which is not good customer service. A little more time taken to take the order is all that is required and it would be a happy place.I will be back because they do the best fish and chips but need service with a smile,

Worst service. After receiving the food late. It was over cooked and burnt. Called the restaurant to have the guy say sorry can't do anything we really are busy can't do anything today. We can give you free food next time just eat what you can from the order. Really that's not the customer service you expect. How can we eat over cooked food which can cause stomach issues. It's the last time we order from this place. Total waste of time.

I only ordered online, so my customer experience is small, I was really impressed with the food quality and speed of delivery, not to mention portion size, I look forward to ordering with them again.

Food over cooked and dry. I had to remove the batter from the fish so that I could eat it. No wonder it was early I think it was left over from,lunchtime and recooked. The chips had also seen better days, as had the chicken. I did phone them and was offered a free piece of fish ..... however the whole meal was inaadequate and over cooked. Spoke to Just Eat and the only offer from the restaurant was a refund for the fish ....... had I have had it in a restaurant I would have sent it back and not paid for it. When u order for delivery and u have a complaint the same rules should apply. I am sure when cooked properly the fish would have been lovely, however .......

Food was mostly burnt and inedible, Chips overly greasy. by this time we had waited nearly an hour and resorted to instant noodles from the corner shop. Overall not happy.

Delivery driver can't determine house numbers and wants me to add further instructions over and above what just eat give him otherwise he'll deliver to someone else instead. Excuse me??!!

Food was terrible today. The chips are stayle and dark grey looking. The chicken donner kebab was absolutely dry as grass. Awful food today. Dont think we will be ordering from you in a while. So disappointing.

We were promised a drink with our next our because our previous order was sooooooo late. Never got the drink. But this will be the last time we buy from this takeaway because the food is pretty gross. Some times it's perfect but last two orders were minging. It's unfortunate because they USED to make the best fish around. I keep ordering in hopes that we would get a nice meal but the place has just gone downhill which is a real shame.

Food order was accepted then we had a call saying the restaurant were declining our order because they were too busy yet we are loyal customers and always use them. Extremely disgusted and disappointed with this level of service and can safely say we won't be using you again

Poor poor service food just short of an hour late (on top of the hour delivery time stated), and lied to about how much longer it’ll be (twice) food ok, but not outstanding, probably because I’d forgotten what food looked like in the time it took them to deliver it food ordered at 20:02 eta 21:10 called 21:35 ‘just leaving now - 5 minutes’ nothing got JustEat to call 21:45 ‘just leaving now - 5 minutes’ food eventually arrived minutes short of an hour wont ever use again

batter on fish thick and overcooked chicken in burger was dry and hard chips not fresh and hard normally enjoy the food from this restaurant very disappointed tonight will have to thick again about ordering from them unless there is an improvement sorry

I pre ordered our meal at 3 o’clock for delivery at 5 o’clock the restaurant then changed it to 5.30 then after calling them at 5.35 it finally arrived at 5.45. Very disappointed in delivery again.

Ordered the food at 7.10 and it didn't arrive until 8.50 (the estimated delivery time was 8.10). The chips were soggy and tasted like oily fish, those who asked for peri peri salt couldnt eat the chips as they were completely drenched in it. The saveloy was mushy. The only saving grace was that the fried chicken was delicious and the delivery driver was apologetic about the late delivery

first time last time. Ordered at 19:40 was told delivery time of 21:00. after 2 phone calls both of which was advised that it would be another 20 minutes (both calls 20 minutes apart) food arrived at 22:15. Order was correct but too cold to eat without reheating which is NOT the point when you order out. really hope my waisted £18 doesn’t come out of my account as will fight to get it back ! staff on the end of the phone obviously clueless blaming it was a Bank Holiday and that this ‘usually happens’ on a Bank Holiday. If this is a know factor then management should plan better. Disappointed is an understatement and will NEVER order from here again. Back to Oh My Cod we go...

Review ONLY based on tonights order. Food was of usual high standard, but arrived over an hour past estimated delivery time, more than 2 hours past order time. Usually get a text or call if any problems, but nothing today. But, 1 blip in all the time we've been ordering from them! Thanks for the complimentry drink

Fish and chips are lovely. Fish is always cooked well and chips portion is always large. Family size chip portion is massive! I also love the chicken doner kebab and it’s nice and spicy. Good value for money all round.

Received the wrong order but didn’t realise until I got home. Greasy sausage and fish, lukewarm overfried chips. Delivery is clearly the main priority here.

Waited 15-20 minutes in the fish and chip shop for 2 portions of fish and chips.

Having ordered from here many times before without a problem I'm afraid that will be my last order! order incorrect and food quality so poor it all went in the bin! To top it all I called in and the service on the phone was a poor not even offering to correct my order and asking me to send an email in to which the owner would respond and guess what 28hrs later no response. Customer retention lost.

Best Donner Kebab. Very generous portions and served in a lovely fresh flat bread. Thoroughly recommend.

I've ordered from this restaurant before several times and was never disappointed but today really bad. Ordered a Chicken Kebab and they sent us a Lamb Kebab so nobody could eat it. The fried chicken was so salty and impossible to eat. Fish and chips were great as always. But overall meal, really poor.

Please can you make sure your drivers are talking on the phone and not shouting becuase i was struggling to hear and he was shouting down the phone

Pretty good food, at very good value for money. Food was a little later than specified, but it was Saturday night and only by 10 minutes or so, not a big deal. Food was nice, and generous portions. Only fly in the ointment was lots of green and black spots in the chips. I only mention it in the spirit of feedback and it certainly wouldn't put me off ordering again.

We ordered 2 mushy peas. One was dry and looked like it had sat for hours in the shop and the other was good.

food was cold. kebabs had wraps instead of pita bread and cheese chip wrap was just chips with cheese on a wrap and looked a complete mess

We wrote in the notes that we are allergic to onions, and some off the food contained onions, we were unable to eat most of it.

ordered chicken kebab was cold when delivered which was a shame as first time ordering for here and 35 minutes was added also to the delivery time.

outstanding service received tonight. our order arrived 40 mins EARLIER than tome given. (not that I would complain much of they were late as the food is excellent). 10/10. the food as per usual was hot and tasty on delivery and again no faults with the fish, burger and chips. we highly recommend Ocean Blue as the place to get decent quality food.

Normally the food is excellent, but last night the fish was soggy/wet (very weird and I couldn’t eat it) - normally though it’s crispy and lovely!

3ed time I've had a delivery and the food has been stone cold, first time I thought sometimes it happens so let it go but it's now everytime and if you do say anything they aren't the most welcoming to any feedback. I paid nearly £20 for 2 little kebabs and chips that looked like they had been sitting in the shop for ages. Really not happy so won't be ordering again, really gone downhill as used to be really good fresh food.

Consistency in quality is a problem. Prior delivery experience last month was great and all fresh and tasty. This time everything we ordered apart from the chips was overcooked as if cooked in oil thats too hot, the cod and calamari both were over fried very dark brown (have pics) and tasted like bad cooking oil. The c&m pie was overdone that i could't cut the top crust which was charred. I am expecting the owner to now reply that their quality is great & cameras are monitoring the great process! Sort your staff out guys, when they are left alone the standards drop. I prefer coming in store to order and checking my food, as deliveries are hit n miss.

we ordered through just eat website and asked for a specific delivery time. when it never arrived we rang up the restaurant to query where abouts the food was. they fabricated that they rang us 7 times and waited a total of 3 mins before driving off again. when told there was no missed calls on any of our phones, they raised there voice becoming aggressive and rude, telling us it was our fault, even though they never actually rang.

My order was 30 mins late but they did ring me to let me know and gave me a bottle of Pepsi. Food was tasty and worth the wait. Person I spoke to on the phone and the driver were very nice and polite. First time I've ordered from here and I will come back again.
