We had our wedding ceremony here on September 7th 2024. It was the most perfect day, made all the more so by the amazing staff of the Oakland's, namely Hollie, the events planner, Malcolm, our toastmaster and all the staff we encountered on our stay. Also the wonderful Annie on reception who was so helpful and friendly! All the staff at the Oakland's are so accommodating, friendly and just couldn't have done enough for us on the day, so a massive thank you to you all . As for Malcolm, you are an absolute star, and helped keep our nerves steady and guided us through the entire day and evening too! Hollie, you too were wonderful, a big support and wonderfully patient and helpful! The food was delicious also, so thanks to the chef and kitchen staff !! Oakland's, you have everything absolutely spot on!!!

We went to the Oaklands today for lunch , hadn't booked. But we couldn't stay as the menu is so wrong. There are no sandwiches , salads or jacket potatoes. No quiche , or fish and chips or wraps, or lasagne. My elderly family wouldn't have ate anything on that menu so we left. I do wonder if this is why the place was empty on a hot Friday lunchtime. Do suggest you change your menu

Came for a special occasion lunch. The booking was ok and they rang back when my call wasn’t answered which was good. Hardly anyone in restaurant. Waitress wasn’t that friendly and shouted to take our order from the other side of our table. I called her round which is what she should have done in the first place. Food was ok. Although the dessert we all wanted had run out. We ended up being the only people there but had to ask to have our table cleared. 20% off at lunchtime but it wasn’t automatically taken off our bill. Some of my party didn’t get the discount and ours wasn’t taken off . We realised in the carpark so went in and got it sorted. An excuse was made but it should have been done automatically and we shouldn’t have to ask. It was also a bit smoky and we smelt of when we got home. We probably wouldn’t go again which was a shame that all this happened as we were there to celebrate a special occasion. Also staff need to smile!!!

Had a suprise birthday party for my mum in one of the function rooms. The room looked stunning, all the staff were amazing and helped with the surprise. Would definitely recommend if you are wanting to hire a room for a special occasion.❤️

Wine off had to ask for another fresh one. Burger really rubbish, one leaf of lettuce one slice of tomato- dry bun Curry boring, rice ok Service slow and felt like they had got a friend in to wait tables as no staff Pity used to be quite good

Arrived for breakfast and were sat on a cramped table. Had to ask for the table to be cleaned. Waitress was pleasant enough. Went for the full English and asked for scrambled egg, to be told they couldn’t do it today as ‘Chef has said it has to come as written because we have a big table coming in’. I politely pointed out that ‘scrambled eggs and salmon’ were on the same menu to be told I could have that instead or as well !! Seriously ?? Complete nonsense. Interestingly three other tables were told the same thing and whilst we were there the large table never arrived. Won’t be going back

Where do I even start! One word to describe our experience at the Oaklands on Christmas Day, HORRENDOUS. From the second we walked in the door it was a disaster, they didn’t have our name on their booking sheet even though we had received confirmation multiple times and they’d had £325 of our money. We had booked a table at 2:30pm, still hadn’t been sat down at 3pm. When we finally were given a table, we walked through the ‘Christmas hall’ and was extremely disappointed with the decorations. It looked nothing like the pictures online and was more like a restaurant in Butlins. Children running around and climbing under tables. Our table was garden furniture with no table cloth and we sat on tin chairs. Had very cheap crackers and a tacky small Christmas tree in the middle of the table. Starters came at around 3:20pm and 2 of us ordered the butternut squash soup which was freezing cold and had to be sent back. We then waited another 45 minutes for our mains to arrive. Which as expected was just as bad as everything else. Beef wellington was beyond raw and the pastry was soggy after being drowned in gravy. The only positive about the whole meal was the turkey was quite tasty and cooked well, but everything else with it was very poor. At this point we were so fed up and disappointed that we got up and left without even having our desserts. After complaining to management we are now awaiting a full refund. Safe to say it ruined our Christmas Day after looking forward to it for weeks, definitely won’t be returning here again. Would avoid at all costs!!!

This is probably the poorest meal we have had out for a long time. Admittedly it was Christmas Lunch but the service and attention that we received along with the quality of food was extremely poor. We were given a 2 hour slot but were out in 50 minutes. They were grossly under staffed and the only time anyone came to are table was to ask about desert. These were all mediocre to say the least and we as a group had 2 out of the 3 on offer. As an overall experience we were all extremely disappointed.

What a bitter disappointment! Went for Christmas Day Lunch in the Christmas Hall. Sadly no atmosphere, no Christmas music - just shrieking children, raucous laughter and cheap crackers. Most definitely not value for money! A massive rip off at £75 each! Yes we will eat out next Christmas day but definitely not at The Oaklands.

So we booked for Christmas day at the oaklands and we have always had a fantastic time when staying over however Christmas day was challenging all be it the staff were amazing we waited 30 minutes for our starters at 2.30pm so we didn't get this until 3pm we then waited a further 20 mins for the main which didn't even have stuffing or puddings we paid £75 each to expect a deluxe meal we didn't wait around for afters and before we were arrived we only found out from friends you weren't allowed in the bar or to visit untill your booking nothing on website or even in the confirmation email im sorry to say we were very disappointed but nothing against the staff organised events are paramount myself working in a corporate environment for 24 years it would seem theres gaps in the customer service if you need any advice or support let me know Kind regards Mrs Lemmon

We visited the venue for a sunday lunch which was ok. If i was being picky i would say i like my food hotter than it was. One thing to mention is that you do get a nice large portion of meat, but i feel that more veg would be nice even if its “ cheap” carrots/ peas Its nice to have enough gravy but there was too much , it was swimming in it. My friend had fish and chips, looked a large piece of fish but the batter was like thick stodgy cake, too thick too cook properly. Have to say im not a fan of dogs being allowed in . We sat next to a muddy yappy spaniel who interupted our meal at any chance. No need for dogs to be in a food place.

Lovely lunch. The food is great. Went out to celebrate a family birthday, we all had either the roast beef or the roast lamb. Great portion sizes & tastes amazing. All the staff were great, very friendly and all working super hard. Good pricing too. Desserts are good too, sticky toffee pudding is lovely, however I’d give the cheesecake a miss, both times we have been it’s been super salty, not what you would expect from a traditional cheesecake.

Sadly this place has really gone downhill in terms of the menu and the offering. The outside terrace is a lovely place to sit and has cover. It looks as though it has recently been upgraded too with new furniture. Sadly though, the menu has shrunk and shrunk until it has become beyond basic with very little choice. And even keeping it basic, there are often things they've run out of (baked potatoes at lunchtime this visit) I ordered a hot chocolate, which was little more than some cheap powder in hot water. Really disappointing. Our drinks were served on a really dirty tray which was left on our table so we could admire the stains. Met the owner in the early days, he was charasmatic, enthusiastic and had big plans. We were truly rooting for you r him. Sadly there now seems to be a complacentcy somewhere within the organisation, which was reflected in the car park which was once full and this time, almost empty. A huge shame! Won't be back despite the oasis that is the terrace as the food is so disappointing.

I went on a Sunday for lunch with a large group, had a roast and the potatoes were so hard and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt, we sent it back only for virtually raw beef to come out. I had heard terrible reports and i can confirm them.

We attended as a table of 7 for Sunday lunch. My husband and I had the vegetarian roast. The lentil loaf was very plain. I had to eat mine with horseradish to give it some flavour. The accompanying vegetables were nice but the roast potatoes flavourless and not crispy. The food was also luke warm, at best. Our friends had meat roasts. They said the meat and veg were good but potatoes let it down. As a vegetarian and not a vegan, I would have liked to option to have a Yorkshire pudding with my roast, but I forgot to ask. I had a the brownie dessert which was very nice. Service was good throughout.

Called in with my wife and a friend having pre booked, only to find that the only choices on offer were so called 'Mediterranean Style' dishes, i. e. meat kebabs with rice or salads. As always I politely explained to our waiter that I was wheat and gluten intolerant which seemed a totally alien concept to him and he rather rudely repeated back 'Oh so you're wheat AND gluten intolerant' as tried to explain they were one of the same thing. The 21st century has obviously completely passed this restaurant by as far as food allergies are concerned, there is no guidance on the menus for GF dishes, they have just bunged in a few vegetarian options and job done, I could have the salad our waiter suggested. There then followed a frantic five minutes while the waiter dashed to and fro back to the chef to ask about Gluten Free, 'could I have the burger'? I asked, No (obviously bought in) 'well okay lets go for the ribeye and chips' No, can't do chips he explains as they will be contaminated from deep fat fryer oil. 'Don't you have dedicated chip fryer? I enquired, No he replies. So okay they did me some new potatoes but by this time I knew we had made a mistake coming here, eventually when it arrived my steak was tough and had passed the medium rare I had asked for some minutes before the chef took it off the heat, the accompanying salad was alright but drowning in oil dressing and my request for french mustard drew a blank. My wife and friend had the lamb kebabs, both complained that it was tough and our friend particularly who left most of hers and would have liked an option of chips with it instead of the rather indifferent rice. It was late so we just put it down to experience (bad), paid the bill and left needless to say we will not be coming back.

The place was heaving with several functions on. Despite this, the service and the food was good. My only negative would be the choice for vegetarians is pathetic. Probably the poorest veggie offerings in Norwich.

My visit started very nice on Thursday. I was here for a wedding, and stayed two nights . The hotel had some great points including the food which was definitely five star, a great choice of drink and the terrace was lovely to have a few drinks in the sun . The staff were lovely and hard working but there was not enough staff working at busy times . The bar staff there where under a lot of pressure and stress. Surely there should be more staff working on busier events . Our room was not up to standard, the bed had stains on the linen , the bedside draw had opened wrapper's and rubbish that had not be checked and cleaned . They are only minor things, but they make a difference to my overall stay .

We stopped at the Oaks today for Sunday lunch. We had a choice of where to sit. The food was very disappointing, meat was tough, Yorkshire pudding flat and dry, vegetables hard and swamped in gravy. The main restaurant was dark and lack of atmosphere, All members of staff did ask if all was okay. This is a local eatery for us and have been a few times before. Unfortunately we don’t have any plans to return.

Cold food we had a roast looked nice but you could not even cut the roast potatoes parsnip black and tiny cabbage hard !!!!

Had the 2 main meals for £12.95, food was lovely, staff friendly and efficient, surroundings are lovely. Will definitely be going back and will recommend to others. Well done on providing a lovely dining experience in these challenging times.

Al llegar nos dijeron que el restaurante estaba cerrado, por lo que nos desviaron a la zona exterior conocida como Blofield Grill. No nos complació escuchar esto y una llamada telefónica cortés nos habría dado la oportunidad de reservar un lugar alternativo.Debo decir que en las primeras impresiones, Blofield parecía atractivo. Nos ofrecieron una mesa y pronto nos dimos cuenta del frío que hacía, pero perseveramos.El camarero de vino apareció para nuestra elección de bebida, no Sauvignon, solo vinos de Norfolk. Comida con amigos, y valió la pena el viaje en auto. Todos tuvimos dos platos, que tengo que decir que fueron buenos. Recomiendo los aros de cebolla porque eran increíbles. Filetes por tres de nosotros, que de nuevo eran simplemente encantadores.El personal es amable y atento, aunque la velocidad de salida de cada campo fue tan rápida que no le dio tiempo para tomar un descanso.Hacer pedidos fue complicado, todo por una aplicación y pago por uso. Esto parecía complicado y en realidad significaba que gastamos menos dinero de lo que normalmente gastaríamos.En general, fue bueno y volvería a ir cuando las cosas se calmen un poco.

¡Visitamos Oaklands el domingo 30 de agosto para disfrutar de su menú de asados! El servicio fue excelente, con el propietario caminando y dando las gracias por asistir, lo cual fue un gran punto: ¡un toque personal! El wifi era un poco temperamental, lo que significaba que la aplicación no era tan fluida, ¡pero funcionó! ! La aplicación está bien diseñada y es fácil de usar, ¡lo cual es una ventaja! Las bebidas salieron muy rápido, al igual que la comida de mi otra mitad; sin embargo, problemas leves, con la máquina expendedora de boletos no registrando mi comida, el mismo problema con otra mesa (OH pedí carne de res, tuve el cerdo), pero esto se rectificó rápidamente, con 2 personas comprobando lo que estaba esperando una vez que notaron que uno de nosotros tenía comida y el otro no. ¡El vino de Winnibirri era increíble ya un precio razonable! 6. 30 para un gran! Las comidas fueron fantásticas, pensé que le vendría bien más verduras, pero en realidad me sentí MUY lleno al final de la comida, definitivamente la mejor carne de res y cerdo que hemos probado, ¡y las papas eran fantásticas! También piense que el brócoli de tallo tierno es un buen toque, en lugar del brócoli estándar. 12 para la carne de cerdo y 14 para la carne de res, ¡lo recomendaría al 100%! !

Have visited numerous times in August as we live nearby. Every lunchtime in August, all menus were available, including the grill menu, cafe menu, just use the QR code on the table. Noticeably, oysters were always available on Thurs - Sunday, and consistently not available on Monday - Wednesdays for the discount. To make up for the deficit, I received 1/2 lobster, which was always delicious. Sadly, on the Tuesday evening previous to this visit, I ordered the oysters to start and pork tomahawk to follow and they had once again run out of oysters, followed by the pork so overcooked that I couldn't eat it! As you can imagine, I was hoping that the following day at lunch, the oysters might have been available. I'd made the booking telling all the ladies in my group about how great the food was usually as I'd tried the baked feta, chicken salad (although the overcooked chicken was only salvaged by the moisture in the dressing), and the fish and chips. As it turned out, we were seated in the marque area, which only had table service, no QR code ordering and told by both the waiter and manager that the only menu available at lunch was the cafe menu. When I stated that I'd had lunch numerous times in August and had always had a choice of all menus, the same manager that had come to our table previously looked me straight in the eye and said that was never the case. The mark is low due to a bold faced lie told to what was a regular customer! Of course the rest of my party had never been before and were for the most part pleased with their lunch. I ended up getting the Bingham blue quiche, which was tiny, but ok and the salad was very dry! I then ordered onion rings, which are made there and fantastic! They were the only reason I didn't have to top up when I got home. I shared them, and comments followed mine, that without them, we could have had another meal. Sadly, I don't think I will be going back, which is a shame as they are so local and I like to support local businesses, but not dishonest ones!!!

Went for coffee to enjoy my 1/2 price coffee. We were told to take a photos of the QR code and order form our phones. When trying to pay, the discount was not put on the bill. Waiter said it was my fault as I didn't not notice the tiny writing on the menu which I have to tick for the discount to apply?? So much for 1/2 price coffee. The waiter wouldn't even allow us 2 more coffees for the extra money that we spent. We won't be going again for coffee.

Superb. Visited for the first time . Greeted by Steven who looked after us really well. The staff were incredibly friendly, the food was really delicious and beautifully presented. Love the fact it’s all local produce too and the farm shop is definitely worth a visit. Really impressed!!!

I had to come and write a review here as I'm really shocked about the low stars. Its the second time I've been and eaten here this week Sunday Roast was out of this world. Huge portions and beautifully cooked.We loved it so much we came back this evening for the Eat out to help out scheme and it was just as good this evening. I took my family for dinner the children's menu was perfect and had it was well cooked and great choices on offer. My husband and I had the Skate wing with butter and caper sauce it was to die for. The service was spot on attentive and the owner came over to ask how our meal was you can't fault that. We had left it too late to buy any thing on offer in the newly opened Blofield farm shop but when we come in to try the breakfast or lunch menu we will make sure we pop in. If you are looking for a fantastic meal in a very good socially distanced outdoor eating space The Terrace is the place to visit. Forgot to say its had a refurb too and looks stunning. Hope it's a roaring success for all involved.

Nos alojamos en el hotel (no es bueno) y cenamos el domingo en el restaurante. Había un asador que era bueno, excelente rosbif. La decoración era extraña: parecía que la ventana delantera había sido cerrada por alguna razón, y no había atmósfera. El asador tenía una buena relación calidad-precio, pero sentí que una botella de mediocre vino chileno a los 18 años lo empujaba.

Reservado a través de reservar una mesa para 3 adultos 1 niño y un bebé. El día anterior recibí una llamada para confirmar que aún asistíamos. Confirmamos que estábamos y pedimos una silla alta. Dijo que esto sería arreglado. Llegamos y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa y pedí una silla alta. Me dijeron que la buscarían. Nadie más en el restaurante estaba usando una silla alta, así que esperaba que apareciera pronto. Pedimos otras 5 o 6 veces y nos quedamos enganchados cada vez con un "Lo buscaré" A mitad de camino de comer, llegó la comida. Teníamos el asado. La carne estaba bien hecha de verduras.Un servicio impactante, la única persona que dio servicio natural fue el hombre del bar que sacó dinero.Lo siento nunca volveré a visitar

We usually come to Oakland’s for many events, unfortunately the staff seem like they don’t want to be there which is not a great atmosphere. The food is good, good range of drinks on offer.

The afternoon tea at the Oaklands was delicious and the service was excellent. There was a great range of finger sandwiches including smoked salmon , turkey and cranberry and caramelised onion chutney with grated cheese. A selection of small cakes, lemon meringue tarts and macaroons were tastefully arranged on the middle tier of the cake stand and it was all topped off by fruit scones, jam and cream. I had Earl Grey tea but other drinks including prosecco were available. The staff were very attentive offering additional drinks and checking we had everything we needed on a number of occasions.

The room arrangement for eating was fine but as an arrangement to view a show it was pretty poor. A raised area/ stage would have been much appreciated. Or a better shape room suitable for entertaining. We also had no idea when things were due to happen or what the entertainment plan was. Singer was great, the dancers were good, albeit limited & brief, coupled with restricted view made it an okay night only. Regarding the food. The starter pate we had was very nice (rather a lot of pate for a single triangle of bread). The dessert was lovely & both were beautifully presented. The main however was a real let down. The gravy being the best bit. The vegetables were something out of a frozen mix bag & tasteless while the potatoes appeared to be reheated ones from the day before or overcooked. We had different potatoes on each plate. It was reminiscent of a poor school dinner I'm afraid to say.Other than some disappointing food & limited entertainment, it was an 'oaky' evening. Nothing to rave about unfortunately.

Tuvimos un mal comienzo. Tuve que cancelar un miembro de cuatro, que falleció inesperadamente en noviembre. Pregunté, dadas las circunstancias, si su depósito podría ser reembolsado. Ya escribí una crítica en el Hotel Oaklands sobre nuestro maravilloso día de bodas y lo fantástico que fue el personal, pero me olvidé de darle una mención a Nadine, la florista residente. We celebrated our granddaughter's 18th birthday with a meal for around 20 people. All our meals were pre-ordered. There was a plethora of staff, all standing around talking to one another. After we had been sat at the table for 30 minutes we had to ask for the starters that had been ordered. The mains came in dribs and drabs, chips at the end of the evening that should have been served with the meal. Likewise pepper sauce that was to accompany steak, which then had to be reheated as it had gone cold. Macaroni cheese with no cheese, but breadcrumbs sprinkled on the top, not browned, that too being sent back for the cheese. Those who were lucky enough to get their meals first, had finished before the last meal came. When the deserts were served, again after a lengthy wait, the rhubarb ad ginger Eaton Mess had no rhubarb and no ginger! So many faults to list. The young waiters did manage a very good rendition of "Happy birthday" when they brought the cake in! To cap it all, coffee ordered in the bar after the meal took 20 minutes to appear. I think some serious training needs to be undertaken, and communication with the kitchen needs to improve.

26 of us pre ordered meals on the 2 causes for £20 and wanted the bottomless drinks offer for a extra £10. Once sat at the tightly fitted table in the centre of the restaurant we were told that the drinks offer would not be available as staff could not keen tabbs on the 1.5hr timing and palmed us of with some cheap white and red wine that no one wanted. After a hour of waiting the food came out and orders wrong, food was stone cold. After complaining the staff offered us some money off as none of us wanted deserts. We all paid £16 each for a meal worse than a roadside cafe. Will never return

Booked this venue for a work Christmas Party along with several other large parties. The reception area was crowded, with no seating remaining; two people spilt drinks in the crush. We had to sit in a reserved area space to meet up with our party alongside those dining already. The 'service' at the bar was slow - only 2 staff. The pate starter was the same as you can buy in a supermarket, with rubbery toast. The butter to accompany it was brought out after we had finished. The main was a chunk of meat with reheated pre-frozen vegetables. The roast potatoes were soggy. It was all luke-warm, bland and watery. No sauces were brought out until we had finished eating. The Christmas pudding was a slice of stodge, also luke warm. There was no room for the disco, and no room to sit out either. And for this we paid £28 - plus £18 for a bottle of wine.

Three of us decided to have a lazy Sunday Lunch. We were given the option of a delicious carvery or a choice off the menu for our mains. Excellent value as you could also opt for two or three courses for your meal which included ether mentioned main. [ three £15.95] We opted for three. The meal was lovely. Two of us had the fish dish which well cooked and very tasty. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Afterwards, nothing better than a drink in the bar.
