Awful visit. The staff at the bar were unprofessional, intimidating, and displayed blatantly discriminatory behavior. It was an incredibly uncomfortable experience. Food was cold and I had to send it back for an allergen which I advised them of beforehand. I won’t be returning and strongly advise others to steer clear of this place. Take your money elsewhere.

Filthy restrooms, rude staff. There is never soap in the soap dispenser either.

Absolutely awful experience. The bar staff was entitled, dismissive, and straight-up rude. If you hate your job that much, maybe don’t take it out on paying customers? The vibe was off the moment we walked in and never got better. Won’t be coming back.

Terrible experience. The bar staff was rude, large, and racist. Completely unacceptable behavior. I won’t be coming back and don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Despite the name which threw me at first this is a pub/bar. Location is good just opposite the station, went during a quiet period but staff are welcoming and had nice atmosphere.

5 stars because I visit this place often and usually have a good experience, so I don't want to bring the rating down too much. However, on a recent visit, I was left quite disappointed. I was waiting patiently at the bar for my turn to be served. The barman was busy making several drinks for the person in front of me, and for a good few minutes, it was just the two of us standing there. As more customers arrived, the barman completely overlooked me and went to serve someone else on the other side of the bar. I politely interjected with, "I'm sorry, I was waiting before," but both the barman and the new customer said they hadn't seen me, which would of been absolutely fine if I wasn't made to feel for a terrible human- like I was somehow in the wrong for speaking up. Trying to avoid making a scene, I said, "It's OK, you can serve them," but the barman responded rather sharply, saying, "Well, it's clearly not," before reluctantly serving me. All it would have taken was a simple, "Who was waiting first?" to avoid the awkwardness and make sure everyone was treated fairly. Normally I have no complaints here, but this experience left me feeling quite honestly crap.

Probably the best venue in the area early evening Friday - you could talk. Not too busy. Bit of background music but sitting outside at the back an enjoyable evening- not the cheapest drinks but still worth a visit. Toilets closer ( only just) than your average Spoons.

This is a lovely place to go but I recommend avoiding it if a female member of staff with light brown hair and fair skin is on shift. She is very unprofessional , rude and impatient. I was having a lovely time until she decided to have a go at me as she seemed to be in a bad mood. She said hurtful things and glared at me. I don't think she should continue working there as it would be bad for business having her there. Other than that , it's a wonderful place to unwind and have a good time.

Jordan was very bloody nice. This place is cool and fun. Definitely a place to start your night. I’m now just typing to get enough characters to get a free shot!

Will advertise they have an event on but it’s a lie. Waited for 2 hours for show that didn’t exist. 5 star reviews are only because they incentivise customers with drinks. Do not go!!

While many bars in Reading are closing or changing hands, this place has remained consistently reliable with a fantastic atmosphere. Great selection of drinks at reasonable prices, a properly heated outdoor area, and decent live bands. The toilets could use a refurb, but otherwise, it’s top-class.

Always friendly, knowledgeable of their ales, and helpful. Good reliable pub grub. Occasionally too busy and noisy for me. When heaving food can take longer than normal. But still one of my Reading favourite haunts.

For a large station pub it's excellent. Good selection of drinks and a decent menu of good burgers, fish & chips, steak, salads, etc. Various deals make it remarkably good value and far better than others beginning with JD. Live music and events all add as well. A thoroughly decent pub.

We went as a family on Saturday after go karting for my son's 8th birthday. We had heard great things about the food and we were not disappointed! Son loved the chicken wings and the loaded fries were amazing. The steak sandwich was also top drawer. The icing on the 'cake' was the chocolate brownie and ice cream they brought out for the birthday boy - lovely touch. Looks like a smart place for night time too with large drinks selection and live music - I will be back soon for that !

Surreal. Reading’s finest if I may say so myself. The quality of the vibes, the level of professionalism from the team, the sheer excitement and bustle of the locals brimming the place from door to door. It’s been a long time coming since I had a night like the one at Oakford Social Club. To the rest of the world you’re all missing out. Sam was a great help and made me feel instantly welcomed. Ask for her when you visit!

This used to be a decent pub, on my recent visit I was shocked by the changes. Poor range of beers on offer, no cask ales and a couple of low quality keg beers. Loads of great pubs in Reading so I won't be visiting here again

£7.50 for a pint and rude bar staff, who seem to think they're above everyone else including their customers. This place used to be so much better! You've practically given yourself the one star 👏🏻

I like trains it’s near station and beer

Came here for a work event. Was Pride night so was busy which is to be expected. However does not have ability to set up a tab so spent the entire evening queueing at the bar getting drink which put me off booking here again for another corporate meal. Drag was great and staff lovely but such a silly rule when someone has booked a table

I recently visited Oakford Social Club and had an exceptional experience! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The decor has a perfect blend of classic charm and modern comfort, making it a great place to relax and unwind. What really stood out to me was the incredible staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Our servers, Georgia , Ben , flo, herminonie and Pete went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic evening, offering excellent recommendations and making sure our drinks were always topped up. The food was delicious, with a great variety of options to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for classic pub fare or something a bit more adventurous, there's something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed their whiskey selection, which perfectly complemented the meal. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, their Pepsi was refreshingly crisp. Overall, Oakford Social Club is a gem in our community in Reading. The combination of great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding staff makes it a must-visit. I can't wait to go back and enjoy another wonderful evening there !
