Nice place right by the station, good beer selection served by friendly staff. Garden out the back is nice too

Amazing place, lovely atmosphere and great food and drink selections. All the burgers are amazing and I cannot fault any of the other food selections. The staff are top teir and Sam is incredibly good and always very friendly. I would highly recommend to everyone as there isn't a demographic that owns it. Hosts drag through to rock on their stage and loads of lovely events in-between.

Fantastic evening using our dining gift card, Ed made the bar transition seamless with the gift card and Flo served us fantastically. Food delicious - the chefs steak was melt-in-your-mouth thank you! And the choice of beer / craft beer was very impressive . Hubby very happy. We asked for a private area for a team of x20 to meet with a hot buffet - the service was great, the food was on time, hot and plentiful (we even had take-away containers provided as there was so much food!!!). Everything we asked for was provided by the amazing staff - bar staff and waiting staff all really polite and we would definitely return.

Nina on the bar was so lovely and Ben and Jude in the kitchen were amazing, great food and service!!

I had a lovely experience at the oakford social club, the staff were so friendly especially Nina and Ed as they were so kind. They were very busy but still had the time to help me with their knowledge of beverages. They were holding it together which is a testament to their professionalism on the bar. Will definitely be visiting again. 5 stars all around!

Popped in as it was convenient for the station, but was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Only issue is that there was unnecessary addition of paprika/ spice to what we ordered.

I've been here many times over the years and it's always been a favourite destination when you need to meet people. It's convenient, close to the station, and you don't have to wait too long to be served even at the busiest of times. There aren't actually that many tables which might seem weird given the amount of floor space, but it's part and parcel of being at the Oakford. The tables that do exist cater more to larger groups more than singles or pairs. It's pretty casual and there's a reasonably generous outdoor area so you can always find somewhere to sit or stand with your drink. The food is good. It's not award winning but given the price you might expect a bit more. I've never been disappointed but a meal for two will approach £40 if you get one main each and something to share. It's good quality and tasty, which has never changed. Drinks selection is pretty good but I don't go often enough to say how often the beer on tap changes. Standard Reading prices. Finally, the atmosphere is usually pretty great. It's a loud place - very open plan - so expect to be a little coarse the morning after if you visit on a busy night. I quite like it but it's not for everyone, so bear that in mind if you or your friends are quietly spoken. I'll be a continuing patron of the Oakford for quite some time, and I quite honestly recommend that you come here at least once.

Came in for a couple of pints. Sam behind the bar was very helpful about the beers and was quite friendly and funny.

The food was ok, and was brought out quick. It's a decent enough place. But I'm afraid I can't get over dried on feces on a toilet seat. And used toilet paper on the floor. Get a regular cleaning rota in place and I would go back.

Bar staff in this establishment are following the practice of swishing the beer from side to side to create a false head. Issues with this practice: - A natural beer head will turn to liquid as it disappears. A falsely generated head from swishing does not. - Swishing beer around like that kills the life in it. - You end up with significantly less than a pint. Too many pubs are following this practice now, presumably in order to maximise profits. That is not what I call good hospitality. I won’t be visiting this pub for at least another 6 months. Maybe I’ll revisit one day, in the hope this sour practice has ceased. Additional information: When it comes to weights and measures, there is a generally accepted tolerance of 5% for a natural head, which in a typical glass will equate to the thickness of a biro. That said, the customer is entitled to a pint of liquid if so requested. It is very rare to find a lined pint glass in pubs these days. The vast majority of glasses are pint to the top.
