We dined here last night and we were all really impressed. Maddy, our waitress, was professional and attentive. She was knowledgable, especially when it came to allergies which left us feeling reassured and comfortable. The food was fantastic and we were checked in on regularly. Maddy even brought out a birthday treat for my dad’s which was really sweet and appreciated. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

Came here for valentine's. Loved the food. We did expect the dress code to be kept to though which it wasn't by so many. We came very dressed up yet others were wearing trainers which was off-putting for the experience we expected.

Maddy was a great host. Good was fantastic and better than the restaurant in Reading with the location, free parking and atmosphere

Pleasant meal in nice surroundings. Maddy our waiting staff was friendly and efficient. Meal was a bit slow in coming but restaurant was busy so this was acceptable.

Fantastic restaurant. Shannon was an amazing server nothing was too much for her and chef John provided some unbelievable food.

Waited over 45 minutes then had to ask if someone could take our drinks order let alone ordering food! Missing items when food arrived over 1 and a half hours later. Very poor!

Maddy has done you proud. Start to finish it was an extremely busy restaurant and she handled it very well. Nothing was too much trouble.

Our waiter rifaat was absolutely fabulous.. taking over and ensuring we had everything we needed… as for John the chef, is he actually a cook.. he hadn’t learned the difference between well done and rare!!! Very unhappy with his steak!!!

Food was nice. Experience for what it waThe decor was really nice and I was impressed by the quality of the menus loved the the gold bits on them. Our leetice wedge turned up at the same time as the main event which meant we was low on space on the table and it kind of got overlooked. The meat was under looked we asked for med rare but got rare at best blue in places with big chunks of white uncooked fat. We would of reported the meat however we didn't see our server again. She put the food down was back within 2-3 minutes to ask if it was OK at which point we.was.still trying to make space on the table didn't see her again until we'll after the meal which was annoying as we.wanted more drinks.s.

Atmosphere wasn’t as nice as in the Riverside restaurant. Smart casual dress code didn’t seem to be adhered to. Wait time for starters seemed longer than expected (tables arrived later than us received their order before we did).

A fantastic meal at Caversham’s Miller & Carter. Our table was served by the brilliant Joe, whose professionalism and attention to detail was a pleasure.

Our food was excellent, along with the service. We also liked and respected the fact that an automatic service charge wasn't added for tables under 8 and then only 10% for larger groups, leaving you free to make decision

We went on a Sunday, had the sunday sharing plate ( like a roast) OMG- IT WAS DELICIOUS highly recommend

Lovely food , our only annoyance was that we were seated near to the door and we were forever getting up & down to close the door , we were near to a radiator which was off , we mentioned this to our waitress who told us that the radiator was broken and does not work ….

We had a fantastic time, from the moment we walked in to the moment we left the staff took care of us and made our visit enjoyable. The food was delicious with an extremely short wait time between meals, staff checked in with us with smiles all around. Was a perfect night and shall definitely book for our next event!

Overall this was a grave disappointment. I've been here before and it was lovely. Hence deciding to come back for my 30th Birthday. - We drove an hour and a half from Wiltshrie to meet our friends and it was massive massive disappointment Multiple issues - Starters arrived very slowly, and luke warm At best. Everyone had the same issue. 3 of our 10 peronis we had ordered arrived flat. (Beer glasses were still warm) After ordering our mains. My friends steak was completely forgotten. And instead he was a served a 8oz Ribye. As opposed to the 16oz he ordered. The solution was either wait 20 mins. Or have 2 8oz steaks that will be brought out separately. Despite being told the second steak wouldn't be charged. It was on the bill and my friend didn't feel comfortable raising it Everyone's onion loaf was literally stone cold, as were the chips, and other sides. All mains were luke warm. It was clear that the food was left under the heat lamps For ages and ages. We ordered deserts. And we had the same issue again, friend ordered a Creme brulee. And he was offered 2 small ones. Overall. Really slow service, all meals luke warm, and just not up to standard for what we paid. - this cost us £360 and to be served cold food is simply unacceptable. This was a shame as it was my 30th birthday. The only reason I'm scoring 1 and not 0 is the steaks seemed to be cooked correctly, I.e those who ordered it rare, it came out rare etc. For £350 this is beyond disappointing

Great food and value for money.

Joe was our waiter and he was amazing couldn’t have been any more helpful always getting our orders perfect. Marley was our chef and the food was cooked perfectly and for a party of 16 that can be difficult at 3 courses each. Overall the staff were wonderful and very helpful.

Ordered 8 Oz med rare Rib eye ...No way was it 8oz .it was so thin and small it looked like a quick fry minute steak ..it was cooked med ..very disappointed .I'm going to come in again with scales ...Def not worth £29 .00 ....

The miller and carter in reading town centre is phenomenal, this one however is appalling. Ordered ribs, might as well have gone to Aldi and bought myself a precooked pack and warmed it up in the microwave.

The service from Mandy was wonderful. Thoughtful and attentive. She made our night special. Ben was the chef and cooked the food to perfection.

From start to finish was 5 star, waitress Mandy, so friendly and knowledgeable, happy in her role, food I have never had a better meal, thank you to our chef Marley. For our visit tonight I would probably say the best I had but then I think I say this every time I come, we love it here, so much so that anywhere else I end up picking holes in it and dosnt come close

No lobster tail early on a busy Saturday. Most disappointing. Chewy too.

Ordered a meal from here via Uber Eats, food was cold by time it got to me. Not what I would expect from a company which I have visited in person on many occasions all over the UK and given the price I paid. Lesson learnt.

We had a lovely meal here on New Years Eve. The service was fantastic and the food matched. Was a shame they had run out of lobster tail for a 14:30 booking, but the staff were quick and keen to offer an alternative. Will definitely return.

I visited this place for a first time and experienced delightful steak by John

14 of our family had the festive menu. The meal didn't start off well as we were told the 4 turkey meals that were pre - ordered weren't available. After complaining (what was the point of pre orders?), the very helpful waiter offered a round of drinks free. It then turned out that the turkey meals were available so all was fine. But then as a sorry for messing us about, the waiter brought out two bottles of prosecco on the house! That went way above and beyond what we were expecting - that's what you call customer service!! All our meals were delicious, service was great - they called out our names as they came out with food so nobody had to try and remember what they'd ordered. Everything went smoothly, the atmosphere was lovely, the Christmas crackers were a nice touch and everyone had a great time! This is the first time we have all visited this restaurant and we have all agreed that we will all be returning soon!

Now this is a truly nice, cozy and vibrant place. The service is great with no fuss. The food is amazing, you would wanna order everything - I know this is a steak venue but just try the main salad with some grilled chicken and roasted cauliflower. The ambiance is more than you could expect. There is a pretty big car park to the back, entrance to the front only so don’t use the fire exit in the back on your way in. Take your loved ones, family, friends and even your kids and go have some decent time.

We all enjoyed our food and drinks at M&C. We had great service from Evie. We'll be going back soon. Recommended!

Visited 2024-11-24 18:30 table for three. NO KETCHUP!?!?!? Upon arrival by car, drove round to the car park, which is at the back. We were able to find a space in the car park. It was raining, so we didn't want to be outside for long. There was a door at the back of the building with light shining out, but sadly that was not usable as an entrance, so we had to traipse all the way back round to the front, in the rain, to get to the entrance, which was also at the far end of the building relative to where you have to walk around the building. The restaurant should set up the existing back door as an entrance/exit for easy access to the car park. At the entrance, we were met after an OK time by an OK person who took us to our table. We were seated next to a large rowdy table with children. I don’t think the place was full, and I think they could have seated us further away from them in a quieter area. The décor was good, and the atmosphere was OK. They provided us with two menus, the main à la carte menu and a Sunday menu. The menus seemed similar, and this was confusing. Eventually I was able to work out that the Sunday menu was more restricted and offered three courses for one fixed price. It would have been nice if they had given us a verbal overview of the differences between the two menus. They took our drinks order after an OK time, and the drinks were brought within a reasonable time. I had a Pepsi Max. There was no ice which is what I had requested, (good) but there was no lemon. A restaurant charges a premium, and should provide lemon. The drink was served in a tall glass with a straw. However, later in the evening I discovered that the straw was not long enough to reach the bottom of the glass. That being the case, the straw was silly, and if the drink was served in that tall glass, it should not have been provided with a straw. After a time, they came to take our food order. I was the last of the guests to place my order. I asked for the dirty burger, only to be told that they had run out! This seemed pretty strange considering it was a burger, not exactly haute cuisine, and that it was only 6:30pm, not exactly late in the evening. They advised that the Lamb and the Cod were also run out. I had to quickly choose something else. It would have been better if they had advised what had run out when giving us the menus, before we made our choices. The food came after an OK time. The wrong salad came for one of us, though this was corrected when we pointed it out. They asked if we wanted anything to go with it, meaning mayo, ketchup etc. but said — and this is STAGGERING — that THEY HAD NO KETCHUP!?!?!? NO KETCHUP!?!?!? Now, I can understand expensive perishable items like meat and fish running out. They have to order in advance, and it’s a trade off between availability and waste. But KETCHUP? SERIOUSLY? Ketchup is cheap, and keeps for extended periods. A steak restaurant should never, ever run out of ketchup. Even if they did run out of ketchup, I would expect the duty manager to be running out to the local convenience shop and buying a few bottles off the shelf to tide them through the evening. I ordered steak with Bearnaise sauce and chunky chips. The steak was good, and cooked medium as requested. However, everything tasted pretty bland, and it was not a special dining experience. My pot of chunky chips had two skinny fries in it. I mean, it’s all chips, but if they’re getting the chips mixed up, what else are they getting mixed up? Overall I would say the experience was mediocre, and not worth the money. Edit 2024-12-11: Miller & Carter have now responded. I have corrected something in my review that was not clear (about ice in drink). Review upgraded to 3 star

Usual good quality food from Miller & Carter. Scallops, prawns and calamari starters for me and the step kids. Steaks all round, ribeye, rump and sirloin, all cooked well. Like all eateries, prices are rising. We spent £200 ( including 10% tip) for 3 people for 2 courses and drinks (1 expresso martini, 4 mocktails and a beer). I think that really is the limit for the experience on offer.

We was there 58 minutes, we have 4 drinks 2 course meal each. Drinks came out then the starters right behind it. As soon as the starters finished the lettuce wedge came and the mains we didn’t even get to have a moment to enjoy the food. Even before the we finished the mains we got asked if we had finished. We looked at the dessert menu they was out of cheese cake so we got said if we wanted the bill and 1 minute later the bill came. £130 ish that bill was and we was there 58 minutes. It was our first kid free night in 6 months and we got rushed out the door appalling services. Will be writing to head office about this. There was no point in complaining to the manager as the damage couldn’t be undone as it was over before we could even blink

Had a take away from Miller & Carter, Caversham. It was very nice at the time but I was very ill the next day, which can only have been the food. Contacted Miller & Carter and they have said without evidence it can’t have been them. Doesn’t give much hope that this took it seriously or have changed anything, so be warned.

Delicious meal with great drinks and friends

Fantastic gastropub/restaurant, the fixed price lunch menu Mon-Sat is amazing value for money, £17/20 for 2/3 courses! The decor is very nice and fancy with lots of wine bottles around, furniture plush and the service is polite and professional, our waitress Mandy in particular. Very accommodating to kids with a kids menu, and plenty of free car parking round the back. Signed up for the loyalty app as we'll definitely back back soon and often!
