Five Guys in Reading

Long time since I’ve been here. Often wondered by but shame not to have stopped till now. From what I recall burgers are outstanding. However on this occasion I partook in the Diet Coke and water - both exquisite. Team very well turned out in red and black branded attire. Good ethos amongst the team. Everybody working hard and seem to be enjoying their work. Decor and ambience nice. Friendly place. Lots of nice people. Definitely recommend. Seating booths also excellent.p.s. Good music.p.p.s back again five guys. Yet again water and Diet Coke excellent. Staff working very hard. Doing an incredible job. Can’t believe there is only four of them on shift. Wonder what the rota is like. Very clean. As always full of lovely Reading people :) staff dealing very effectively with customer queries. Very efficient cooking procedures. As previous although I can’t eat burgers it is a very fine place.

Bit overpriced, bit realy good food.

The 'grilled' Veggie sandwich tasted of almost nothing. The veggies had barely seen a flame, the tomato had lost all flavour due to, at a guess, being refrigerated and the mushrooms were very sad like they'd spent some time in a can. Void of herbs or seasoning. Much of this could have been forgiven if the melted cheese was any good, however being an American style food chain - it would be a hard push to class this processed rubbish as cheese. I should have guessed and stayed away. One of pot if fries was edible but a real mixed batch some old and soggy, and some fresh and crisp.

Honest super short review from someone who’s only tried this restaurant for food once before, 5+ years ago. First impressions are good, the whole assembly process all looks very well structured. And the milkshake was fantastic, especially with the ability to add many other flavours to it. However, I’m sorry to upset all the fanboys, but unfortunately I don’t understand the hype associated with FG’s. Sure the burger does look very tasty and flawlessly assembled but the biggest issue apart from the ridiculous high price is that the meat is absolutely flavourless, the burgers are definitely in need of some seasoning or another way of cooking the beef to create some flavour. I didn’t care much for the frazzled bacon either. I’m sure I’ll be back for the milkshakes but unfortunately the burgers are just nothing special at all.

Good burgers but very expensive. Quite noisy. Very quiet on a Tuesday at lunchtime.

We love Five Guys and always have the grilled cheese with our favourite fillings/toppings. I find that it is value for money specially the chips. Love the cajun spice chips.

The food here never disappoints, and the staff always serve with a smile - Harold and Joshua are names I remember in particular. The kitchen staff generally look happy and are quick to get orders out. I've always had a positive experience eating at this branch.

Big portions - good temperature of food. Quick service, prices mid to high.

Food was rapped in foil. No sald or onions. No way it was value for money. Looked like I had a packed lunch in bag for hours

Tasty food, good portion size, unexpectedly great service ✌️ There were issues with our order going through the IT system but dealt with care & thoughtfulness. The attention to detail made my day, particularly as the guys were getting towards the end of a long shift so could have easily been tired, good people 🙂

Great food but service could be improved by having a better system of queueing. Hard to have a conversation due to the noise level.. bit like a canteen environment Overall good experience

Very quiet at time of visit . Burger was double with cheese, and we had one portion of chips to share. Didn't finish them as portion was very generous. No hot drinks .

Great place for a burger, great atmosphe and fast service. The only down size is their cokes. They all seem to be tasteless unfortunately. Too bad.

Cannot beat a cheeky Five Guys whilst in Town. Not a cheap Burger and Fries but always top quality. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.

This is the first time I have been to five guys in reading. I was so disappointed with the service which was slow but when I received my burger it looked delicious. Burger was tasty but over cooked and the burger bun just turned into a doughy clump in my mouth which then distorted the taste of the whole experience. I also noticed that the chef was sweaty and wiped his head with his hand then handled the burgers not good when on view. Lastly you can tell a restaurant by its toilet and it was absolutely filthy, no one had been into clean. I cannot even say what was on the toilet seats and the floors were covered in tissues and wee. I will not be going back to this restaurant avoid totally. If you like quality food then do not go to five guys in reading. Sorry but it has to be said. Maybe the manager needs to step up quality control and hygiene.

High-quality burgers, not the cheapest but worth the extra expense. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Never had a Five Guys before but heard lots of positive reviews and I was not disappointed. The burger was amazing and the spicy chips really hit the spot, will visit again soon for sure!

The first time I have visited Five Guys. The food was great and there was plenty of it. Now I've experienced it I probably won't be back just because of the price. Burger, chips and a drink £20.

The best 🍟 are at Five Guys. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Ketchup, mayonnaise and vinegar are free. The ambience is not that nice. A little more restaurant character would be nice. The service is friendly and helps you choose the 15 add-ons for the 🍔.

Good food, its greasy but what do you expect from fast food! lots of seating !

Set inside the large reading shopping mall,, this chain of eatery offers great options for those who wish to get a burger set to their needs. The patties eaten, were fresh and the staff were very helpful and professional. I have visited this eatery at this location, on more than one occasion

Really nice bacon burgers... lots of chips. Only order 1 portion for 2 people and there were plenty.

Amazing flavors both the burger and the fries. I got the Cajun fries and they were slightly spicy and flavorful. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Everything is just that little bit better than other burger fast food outlets. Order fries and they give you almost double extra, at no extra cost. The milkshakes have real fresh mashed banana. You can choose the fresh toppings on the burger, mushrooms, jalapenos, etc. However, you pay more a little more than other fast food chains, but you get a whole lot more.

Had the double, bacon cheese burger with large chips to share and customised toppings, very tasty!

They seem to have a habit of giving you MUCH smaller portions when you order through their app. This has now happened several times. Order a LARGE fries and get the equivalent of a small. Utterly unacceptable and NOT the fault of Deliveroo like their website suggests! I will be seeking recompense through their customer service channels. So Five Guys have replied basically washing their hands of the situation even though it was their inept staff that packed the wrong order!

Their milkshakes are really delicious. Shame they are quite expensive at over £5. Have had the food before at a different Five Guys and it's not my favourite.

This restaurant doesn’t do anything differently to other Five Guys. Five guys just tastes awful in general. Expensive pigswill.

Fabulous food but very expensive

First of all you go there for the burgers which are meticulously put together without falling apart (love this), then you have the fries which are great and massive portions. Taste quality for burgers can be improved, maybe cooked better. Staff isn’t always friendly and feels under pressure even if there is no queue. Suggestion: start using some sort of trays are fries get soggy in the brown bags, makes you think twice if you wanna have them. Atmosphere is great, located at the top floor with riverside view.

After waiting for my order being left on"Driver at restaurant" for an hour I then get a text saying my order has been cancelled. No call , no reasoning for it ,

This branches service is friendly and fast; the order is freshly made and clean open kitchen. Tastes good and obviously a fast food restaurant. I would recommend the Cajun fries for sure and tip is to get a medium to share between two people (they give out plenty). Nice seating area with views of the riverside. Overall worth a try for sure to see if you like it. Reasons for 4 stars is generally (not the branch exclusively) for Five Guys price is on the premium end and gourmet burgers category to manage expectations. Minor nit-pick is you have to wait and collect your order (even McDonalds and Spoons have a table service option and I would say they are fast food/restaurant with seats), also you are not sure where your number is as they have to call out - so you are effectively waiting around the pick up area.

Wanted a five guys around for a long time so it's amazing that this one was so clean and reliable.

The manager in this shop is lazy and rude, rubbish men.

Not a patch on the Kingston branch, but still some nice food.

A soulless space saps the flavour from the burgers. Teams of delivery drivers arrived to take orders out for stay-at-home eaters. The lack of atmosphere makes it the food expensive.

Quick and nice service, good food and free soft drinks refills, placed into the shopping centre is a good place for a quick meal.

A truly fantastic burger, cooked just right and good crisp frys and a lot of them.

The burgers and hot dogs are great but I found the chips way too salty. I've always thought it best to let the customer decide whether they want salt or not by using the salt provided in the condiments area. Staff are friendly and quick to serve.

Lovely food but slow waiting service because of loads of pick up food companies who seem to have priority to sit in customers. Used other Five Guys before and had a quick service but not this one.

Burgers are great, if a little pricier than the usual fast food outlets. The restaurant is on an open mezzanine in a shopping centre, so don't expect any ambience. Service was quick, perfect pit stop when shopping

Found a dead rat in my food and started talking to me and asked me for wine reminded me of ratatouille .the worker also started eating my food

Absolutely awful. Red Meat was undercooked which IS dangerous for mince meat. Unclean store. Service was rude and the food was terrible and way too expensive. cheese misplaced, buns soggy, order wrong, not even simple pre-seasoning of the clearly frozen burger meat. Stay clear. Go to McDonalds

Amazing burgers and fries! a bit on the expensive side for a fast food place.

Good place for a burger made to how you like it, you get lots of chips too. Everything is a cut above standard "fast food" style. A little on the pricy side, but worth it if diner style food is your thing.

It was very busy on a Saturday afternoon, almost the whole store was full. The food tastes no different from the branches in the city where I live, which proves that the quality control is excellent. The environment is not inappropriate by the standards of a fast food restaurant.

Friendly, helpful staff. Good choice of burgers & drinks etc. Food was cooked to order so was hot & tasty. Ths burgers are vefh goos, however, I do feel its very expensive. 2 burgers, 1 fries & 2 shakes were over £30!!!

There has been much hype about this place and its been highly recommended. Pros: Quick ordering service; decent setting; enough seating The selling point for me is definitely their chips - cooked in peanut oil and they provide enough to feed a rugby team. Bottomless soda with many different options (sugar-free included) Cons: The build-your-burger is a great concept but I wasn't a big fan. Sloppy, greasy, tastes like oil. - and not in a good way. Bland milkshakes Having to chase someone down for straws If you allergic to peanuts - stay very far away! Typical fast-food joint, good to try once but once is enough
