Oadby chippy in Leicester

Awful food...rice missing from order...who has curry without rice?? Chicken tikka kebab was dry hard and cold, naan was stone cold with rock hard edges, chips were cold hard sharp bits of spud!! Do not waste your money here...this was my second time.."giving it a go" but honestly it's such a waste of money

This is my third time purchasing a portion of chips and every time it has been disappointing, half of them looked re fried and hard. I even asked for fresh chips and the guy turned around and said they just come out of the fryer. Rubbish food. I won’t bother again driving that far to get chips.

We've recently moved in a few doors up and we've had chips from here four or five times now. Not tried any other food from here yet but the chips have been excellent every time. Yes, you have to wait for them usually but they really do fry them nicely and you always know they are hot and fresh from the fryer. Service is friendly and it's always busy which is always a good sign. Cash only too.

I wish I had read the trip advisor reviews before ordering from here. This is my honest review of the extremely poor service that I received today. We placed a take away order to be collected at a specific time, unfortunately I was a few minutes late due to being stuck in traffic so was made to wait a further 20minutes before being given my food despite the food being packed and ready to be taken away (the food by the time I got home was cold). I was spoken to rudely by the owner and staff member - told it was my own fault has I was a few minuets late. This will be the last time I will be ordering from here. Save your money and go else where. There are plenty of chip shops in Oadby and you’ll get more tastier food and much better customer service! Zero rating from me.

I think 4 visits is enough chances to get decent service. From ordering a portion of chips to ordering fish and chips, I’ve had to wait a minimum of 25min each time! The fish is also sliced in half so barely any fish at all. Never again!! Zero rating from me.

Shocking. We wanted a quick take away and we chose this place as it was close and we'd just nipped to asda nearby. We chose kebabs and chips and when we got home the kebabs were awful. The chicken was dryer than the Sahara desert and looked as though it had been kept from two days prior to today. It didn't even taste particularly great. Would I recommend hell no. If I'd saved my weeks wages to treat my children, I'd have taken it back to get a refund, but instead my dog got a right good treat. Dreading tomorrow, and so is my toilet. Would I recommend, no I wouldn't. Steer clear. Much love. X

I found a piece of plastic in my Naga lamb kebab. I rang them spoke to Ismail, said it's a mistake. No sincere apology or offer to recommend my meal, was more interested in taking another order. Imagine if your child found the plastic and put it in their mouth and wasn't able to establish it's plastic ! Poor hygiene and poor customer service to solve the issue. Just checked hygiene rate is poor and that it's with new owners.

Disappointed. Has been a regular chip shop for us. However not sure what has happened but the mini fish now is literally a fish finger worth of fish in batter. Chips were average and not the same as usual. When you go to a fish and Chip ship shop you expect value for money. This certainly wasn’t. Will unfortunately be going elsewhere in future.

After avoiding this for a while, I heard ownership had changed so I went down. It takes very long to even purchase a portion of chips and even then half of them looked re fried and the other half looked raw. I asked for salt vinega and chilli power ketchup and they charged me 40p extra. 20p for a sprinkle of chilli and 20p for a small dollop or watered down ketchup. There’re not doing well.

Great food. Tasty and fresh. Crisp batter and perfectly fried chips. Had to wait a few minutes to pick order on arrival but the manager explained that was because chips are cooked fresh always for every customer. Try the naga donner if you dare...hot hot, hot!!

I went into this chip shop for the first time, and the lady that served me was rude to already begin with, I only ordered chips and salad and I was looked at like it wasn’t enough. So throughout her few minutes of service, she put my food together and typed in the amount owed, no where to have the total amount displayed, she didn’t even say the amount so I just gave £5. With no manners thank you, please I felt bad for even going. The chips weren’t warm it’s like they mid warm. With this type of customer service I don’t feel the need to go back. This lady shouldn’t be the one at the front of house, customer service needs improving.

Nicest chips we've had in a long while, meal was hot and delivery was early who could ask for more.

Was out with friends and we drove past this place. My friend was hungry and although I advised him not to do it he still bought a pack of chips. Was absolutely disgusting. When a chippy can’t get chips right. There’s no hope. They even charged 80p for sauces to disguise the chips being stale.

Absolutely great! Originally went in for standard fish and chips as this place was a recommendation in our accommodation. There is such a vast menu to choose from. I went for a mix of mini fish and chips (the large was an absolute whale and never could have eaten it all) and paneer spring rolls. Delish! The curry is sauce is slightly more peppery than average chip shop curry sauce and no whole raisins which makes it even nicer!

Overcooked, reheated chips. Soggy batter on the fish. Rude staff who don't even know how to say 'please ' and 'thank you'! We wont be going here again.

We ordered got 6.30 delivery slot. Didn’t turn up so called them when they changed the time to 6.50 but still didn’t turn up till 7.00. The person was very blunt saying it was a busy time, he had the right to change the time although still later than advised. Our order was short of what we ordered. But I wasn’t going to call and be spoken to how I was. I’m a diabetic so I ordered for 6.30 but I won’t be ordering again the chips were terrable and some of the items were cold. 👎

Food 45 min late. Chips cold. Batter was horrible, scampi was short on order. Potato fritter was only fit for the bin, clod. Order every week and really upset with the service and quality of the food.

We have used Oadby Chippy several times and the food and service is consistantly high. If unsure what to order I recommend a mixed kebab. Its delishious

Food is nice, it’s always been nice! But the thing that I really dislike is the delivery. Their delivery time is atrocious. Especially since they’re not that far away from where I live. Id honestly give 0 stars for the delivery time if I could. I had been waiting for over an hour and had to contact just eat a couple of times just to make sure that my order is definitely coming. You really need to sort out your delivery timings. Please don’t give false hopes that it’ll be here at a time you say but then make your customers wait an hour longer. Please do something about the delivery timings, or even just offer free food for us, when you know you’re not going to be here on the time that you say. Many thanks.

Rude staff, Re-fried Chips, Dry chicken and they even charge for sauce! Rang them up to order food and was told very rudely that I needed to come in, when I went in spent 15 minutes waiting for it. Pointless and really bad customer service. Staff were quite rude, ignorant and arrogant. Also when they first opened they sold pukka pies! Thats very halal isnt it. Tells you the type of restaurant it is.

Poor service... 35mins late and fobbed off on phone when called, saying couldnt hear and delevery would only be a few mins when was another 20mins. Won't order from here again!

Great wide choice of menu to order from. Food was pipping hot when delivered. I tried a mix grill in sauce which had lots of flavours but maybe slightly too sweet otherwise very tasty and generous portion. Peri peri chicken was cooked perfectly and lots of flavour too. Would order from this takeaway again.

I live local and ordered for delivery as I had some friends over. I ordered Large fish and chips. Full peri peri chicken Donner in Tray Lamb Curry with nan. Firstly some m guy came with my food in a cooler box. The cooler box looked like someone went to the toilets with it. Then there’s was no “hello” or “thank you” etc he just walked off. The fish was really small. It was almost the same same size as my IPhone 7. The chips were decent though. The Peri Peri chicken was ok. Had some taste but felt it had been pre cooked and then microwaved as the chicken was not succulent and very dry. The Donner was very bad. Full of small bones. No taste. Bad buy!! Lamb curry was not authentic Indian. It was typical Bengali cuisine. No flavour just overpriced. The nan was soft though. Not a good kebab shop. I had to call to complain and all I got was attitude. I’ll never go to this place again. I’d rather eat my own arm!!!

food was meant to arrive in 45 minutes the changed to an hour and in the end we had to go and collect it ourselves because they were too busy yet the shop was completely empty. I wouldn’t order from then again on justeat better just walk into the shop least I’ll get my food within the normal time then wait 1h 20m from ordering

Just had food from there. Not very impressed. Small lamb or chicken donner being £5. Small chips beubhbeing £2.25. It's very overpriced. It's like tourist prices. In regards to food, it's nothing out of the ordinary. The potatoes use the standard Marie Pipers, which is expected. The naga lamb donner is almost £7 all because they heated the lamb donner with naga sauce & some onions. I don't see the justification in the high prices. The naga chicken donner is also £7, and they used excessive food colouring. Would have given them 4 stars as the food is very standard as what anyone would expect, but can't since the prices are like Central London prices.

Never got a chance to try the food. As I arrived with my little boy nobody served me for 5 mins. With no que. lots of eye contact but nobody said hello can I help you. When someone did acknowledge me they said "what are you waiting for". I said to be served. He said "well what do you want". As I gave him my order he said it ain't ready then spoke to his colleges in another language. Made me feel very unwelcome and unwanted I didn't wait for him to Finns his convo so left. . So rude. 1st ever visit there and won't be back.

We moved into Oadby a couple of years ago and have been regulars since our first visit. The fish and chips are great, but i'd also personally recommend the prei-peri chicken kebab, and the curry dishes are very good as well. They do tend to take a little while with the food, but I don't mind that when it's good. All in all, as far as takeaway food goes, you can't go wrong.

The fish and chips here is great. However everything else is pretty poor. The naga donor was dripping of oil - in fact the naan bread that came with it was soaked through with oil. The grilled chicken wings looked really nice but lacked any real flavour or taste. the lamb bhuna dish was disgusting and on the sweet side.

Poor all round. Had to wait over an hour longer then the time you gave. By time it got here it was warm and the drink i wanted you never gave. You gave something else that no one liked so poor all round

Delivered an hour earlier than requested (which was accepted at time of ordering). Phoned and was told they could not honour delivery times. Re-delivered and rang the doorbell a second time after highlighting the instructions stated not to, woke my daughter up for a second time. Horrendous service. Will NEVER order again. Stay away.

Pro: Order was correct. Garlic Mayo and cucumber raita were especially tasty. Mushy peas and fish were okay. Delivery more less within expected time slot, just 10 minutes added. Cons: the CHIPS (i.e. a main component of a fish and chip meal) were not up to standard; dry, barely warm, looked more like crisps, than chips.. TIP: use MARIS PIPER potatoes and the quality will surely improve.

The food came well packaged and protected, delivery time was long especially when you are hungry and want food asap. The portion size was great and it all tasted get. Just felt the cod was a little bland but otherwise, everything else was good.

Would of been Lovely food if it was on time and hot, when ordered they added another 20 minutes onto delivery time and was still 20 minutes late after that extra time. Also forgot the rice for the curries we ordered. Due to waiting after phoning for a further 25 minutes food needed to be warmed up in the microwave

Avoid became ill almost right away. When I contacted the shop they fobbed me off. Spent the night, throwing up.

Unfortunately not up to the usual standard. Fish and chips were just warm, and fish looked a greasy kipper. Curry and rice beautiful. Disappointing. Come on guys you are better than that!

Good food still warm on arrival. Tasty and not too greasy. On order eta was 50mins for delivery then quickly updated to say 1h and 20mins added by restaurant. However actual deliver time was 55 mins so only 5 mins late.
