O-Kra in Derby

Been to Okra a few times and it never disappoints. The early bird menu is incredible value. On my latest visit I had vegetable platter to start followed by chicken bhuna. The food was delicious and piping hot and the garlic and cheese nan was to die for. I can also highly recommend the lamb chops starter, beautiful. The staff are lovely too, friendly but not intrusive. A must visit if you are in Derby.

Fabulous, am a regular repeat customer. Spoton is the best description. Try the takeaway if you cannot dine in. You will not regret it

Went to this restaurant in 2022. Only place open at 21h30. Was nt a problem for them. .. great service and good food! Came back in oct. 2023 and they remembered me!!!! The two of us visited and had the Early Bird menu. The staff were very friendly, attentive but not over the top. I had the masala fish starter, it was so soft and tasty, my partner had the lamb puri, the meat was tender and perfectly spiced. We shared the mains and both were delicious as was the rice and naan bread. A generous glass of wine and a nice touch with the hot towel and chocolate. We will be back!

Daughters 18th Birthday meal for 23 people and service was faultless . Couldn’t recommend highly enough and delighted we chose this venue. Food was great and very good value .

I had forgotten how stylish the inside of O-Kra is the decor is outstanding put that with their early bird menu offer which is such a great deal. Staff are very welcoming and friendly the menu caters for everyone, food is well presented, tasty and an ample portion size and the service from the staff is attentive.

A group of 8 arrived without notice. We were welcomed with open arms. The waiter was very attentive throughout the night and was very helpful with the menu options. He offered best value options and considered our individual tastes. As for the food? I’m glad you asked! The food was excellent from the poppadoms to the mains. Not a single complaint from the table.

We visited for my husbands birthday. We ordered from the early bird set me u which included a started, main, side and dri k for £19.95 which was great value. I had the house red which was nice, the vegetable platter as a starter which was beautiful and the okra lamb as a main with a garlic and cheese naan. The food was lovely, our whole party enjoyed their meal and to top ot off they surprised my hubby with a slice of red velvet with a sparkler which was a lovely touch. We would definitely visit again.

One of the best curry restaurants that I have visited. This is a far more 'fine dining' experience than you normally receive in a curry restaurant. I was a solo business traveller for an over night stop in Derby. There is plenty of space around the tables for discrete conversation, the waiting staff were excellent and were able to provide me with a great recommendation based on my taste. I had two poppadoms with chutneys served in chinaware, rather than the normal pressed steel. Then I had a delicious lamb curry, rice and a naan. I had two large glasses of merlot which were reasonably priced at £5 each. The meal came to £40 for one person. The restaurant is located near the theatres and centrally to the city, it is also just along the road from the popular Fat Cafe if you are looking for a follow on location. It took me only 10 minutes to walk from the also excellent Leonardo Hotel and the 'UKs safest carpark' if you are driving. I can't recommend highly enough, definitely worthy of five stars.

I went to Okra this evening (a Saturday) with three friends. The decor itself is gorgeous, and really gives you the impression that you are going to have a really special dining experience. Unfortunately, we had a mediocre one at best. - Our table was booked for 7.30. We ordered at 8pm. It wasn't until 9.15 that our starters arrived- At no point during the entire meal were we offered any sort of water despite there being water glasses on the table - All four curries we ordered tasted the same - bland, boring, no spice, luke warm- We had to ask for more drinks when our glasses were empty despite several waiters walking past our table- We had to ask for the bill 2 times - The restaurant was full of drunk people - one woman actually fell asleep at her table.... a classy establishment it is not!- The womens toilets ran out of loo roll, I had to go into the mens to get someIn general, poor service, and very average food. I wont be going back. If you want a good curry, go to Anoki on London Road
