Nupur Indian Restaurant in Mid Sussex

Visited for a special occasion. Mid week, so not very busy. Having eaten at many Indian restaurant restaurants in my time., I rate this as acceptable at best. Food was decent but not great. Presentation left a lot to be desired. Can confidently say that for the price point it will be one of my less memorable Indians that I won’t visit again. Although service was quick to start with when we finished our meals we waited a whole 10-15 mins for someone to attend the table which was empty at that point to offer more drinks or desert. Didn’t happen so we asked for the bill and left. Costs more than most amazing Indians I ate at in London for a quarter of the quality. Overall a forgettable and expensive experience, shame as it was for a birthday.

I think this was one of the best Indians I've ever had. The lamb shank, onion bajis and sag paneer were especially good. The spinach obviously fresh, not that frozen creamed stuff you often find. Good value too, we spent just over £100 for eight people.

Oh come on that was delicious was the main thing coming out of our mouths in between globfuls of curry All 4 musketeers therefore once have to say great turnout even if I do say so myself Jamie arrived to make it the 4 so often the missing link. Think miles was less of a pain this time hopefully improving come on I sometimes think pack it in but is my nephew after all. Poppadoms obviously goes without saying but then the great debate started again rice vs bread Alex nailed his colours to the rice mast can’t be persuaded if I’m honest as hard I try but sometimes I just say everyone’s different. The waiters were not nonplussed by our actions and engaged with us on a kind level often thinking hope they enjoy their curry about us. Had a great time Jamie parked in slightly different place to us was technically his birthday meal but now he’s got diarrhoea plus whole family have got it NOT LINKED TO THE CURRY 5 stars

When we first used this take away it was really good. But the last couple of times we haven’t been happy. Some of the order was wrong but more importantly the foods gone down hill. It really doesn’t taste nice and it’s find the meat in the sauce. So disappointed I won’t be going back sorry

The food was tasty and enjoyable. However it is expensive and the portions are small. The restaurant and the take away are in the same room so if you are by the door you will get people coming in to order food while you eat.

The welcome received by my wife and I at this restaurant was very warm and I noticed the maître was very attentive at the way other customers were greeted. In my opinion the welcome is very much part of the eating experience . I ordered my old favourite, chicken tikka masala and my wife had lamb rogan josh, accompanied by pilau rice and a Peshwari nan, all washed down with a large bottle of Cobra. The meat dishes were very good but did lack a little substance and probably contained not quite enough meat. Everything else was excellent and I would have no hesitation in using this restaurant again.

A disappointing take-out meal. Burnt peshwari naan bread and watery curry sauces. There are better curry houses than here. Thought it was overpriced and poor quality. The onion Bhaji was actually very good. Won't be returning.

We went to Nupur last Friday evening, The staff were very welcoming as usual. Service was excellent and our food was good. The one downside was the takeaway part of the restaurant, people came to collect or order their takeaway and sat down and were served drinks. Then more people joined them, and it became very loud and just unpleasant for those of us paying to dine in. This experience would make me want to avoid this restaurant in future

I have used this restaurant for takeaway meals for the last 10 years and usually felt very satisfied with the food. The last two occasions have been such a disappointment. Tonight We had Chicken Biriani, a Rougan Chicken and Sagaloo with popadoms and naan bread. So the food was cold ( we only live down 3 miles away.) The chicken was dry and there was a total lack of taste or spice in any of the dishes. A total disappointment and poor value for money. Such a shame.

I have visited this restaurant about 4 times over the last 10 years , although the restaurant is 10/10 for cleanliness and the staff are very polite, the food is very bland and tasteless, it’s almost like the curries have no flavours as they all taste like they are the same base curry but with different colour food dye in them. I am very much into my curries and feel disappointed every time I go back here. I have politely mentioned it to the staff in the past only to be told they make 300 Tikka Masala a week with no complains (albeit their Tikka Masala is only a shade darker than their yellow korma) and proceeded to tell me how awful the Tikka Masala is in the curry house in the neighbouring village. I keep persevering as it’s very close to where I live and whilst it’s a very pleasant venue to have an evening out with friends I cannot give it a five star rating until their curries contain more flavour

Always my go to for a curry. Not the cheapest, but the quality is always excellent. The staff are excellent - sometimes a bit of a wait, but that’s not a problem. Lucky to have such a great place in the village.

Had a lovely Chicken Tikka Balti with Pilau Rice. Absolutely delicious, and the waiter was top notch.

I was taken here last Saturday 15th August as a thank -you from people who are moving to Hurstpierpoint so we thought we would try the restaurant. It was not at all busy for a Saturday night which I thought was odd. The restaurant was nice and welcoming and staff were good, but I Was disappointed with the food. The chicken is very dry and the amount of curry sauce is minimal. I had chicken dopiaza and I would have liked much more onions, and the portion was also small in a small bowl The rice was nice. The sag paneer was very dry. My wife thought the same of her curry which was tikka masala. This restaurant is probably the only one in Hurstpierpoint and probably can rest on its laurels like this. The prices are very expensive with higher end curries upwards of £11 .. so I can see why it is not full. Legend has it that it iw owned by the same people as Nizam in Haywards Heath. The keema naan had a very tiny amount of lamb mince in it at one end, so I infact thought we had been given a standard naan instead, it was also not coloured and looked grey and flaccid. All in all a very disappointing experience, at least give us good portions for the money as my dopiaza was £8.95 Did not visit the loos so cannot vouch. Staff were wearing face masks. Cobra was good and cold.

Take away - all that is possible just now, but when you've not had one for a while, definitely worth paying a bit more for compared to other local options. Portion sizes are just adequate, but even if they weren't, the quality of the meat, the flavour of the dish, the variety of the menu makes the Nupur a good choice.

Had a very long wait for food, over an hour even though we went at 6.30pm. Very noisy and continuous queue for take aways in restaurant. Good food but would try again in the week not a Saturday night!

The manager politely informed me of a wait of 1.5 hours for my take-way on a Saturday night. A good sign of the restaurant's reputation. The wait was well worth it. Food of high quality and very tasty!

We ordered a takeaway for 9 people which was ready for collection in just 45 minutes. All the dishes were tasty and well cooked and of generous proportions. There were some different choices on the menu in addition to the standard seen on the menu of an Indian restaurant

Always a treat. The food is good but always super service from very friendly staff, the takeaway service is also good and prompt.

I’ve been to Nupur on several occasions and each occasion gets better and better. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Thank you very much to all of the employees, we love you! 🤗🤗

This restaurant offers takeaways which we are very fond of. The food never lets us down which is why we use it regularly. Worth a visit

When I booked, I asked for a table in the window which is exactly what we got! It was a busy Saturday night and we turned up slightly late for the table which was no problem. The restaurant had a really enjoyable vibe to it, albeit a little noisy. However, it didn't spoil the evening in any way. The menu, service and quality of food was all superb. I'd thoroughly recommend the restaurant and will definitely be heading back there again. The bill for four of us was £130 incl service and two bottles of wine. I thought this was good value for what we'd had and the quality of the food.

Good sized portions of good curry dishes. In line with many curry houses this one serves standard curry fare, with a number of less common chef specials. Perhaps the food is a little less spicy than some Indian restaurants Good for takeaways as well

The Nupur is the sister restaurant to the Nizam in Hayward’s Heath. But, having eaten at both many times, to my mind the Nupur has a better chef. The staff are very polite and the decor good. It can get very busy at weekend nights and very noisy acoustics in the restaurant. Take away orders are also extremely popular, so we always add at least 10 mins onto the pickup time and often still have to wait a while. But the food is worth it. The menu has a number of special dishes which aren’t on usual Indian menus. Murgh Khurchan, a very tasty chicken dish and my favourite Chingrhi-Jhul made with big butterfly king prawns, it has a fantastic flavour. Somehow managing to incorporate the odd green olive and tiny pickled onions. Sounds a bit strange but tastes divine.I can’t think of a better Indian within the Hayward’s Heath, Burgess Hill, Hassocks area.

Hurstpierpoint is a great place to live and made better by having great restaurants. The Nurpur is everything you want from a great Indian. Excellent menu, great drinks and good attentive service. What more could you want?

much Improved, having ordered takeaway on phone, was provided with guidance as to the menu options and ordered a chefs special. Arrived 15 mins ahead of advised, in time to enjoy a nice pint of cobra. Food arrived exactly as advised on phone and took home piping hot. Very tasty king prawn balti and chicken murgh khurchan. Very good atmosphere in restaurant for those dining.

Three for midweek (Weds evening) meal. Walked in and were only customers, got that sinking feeling!Need not have worried, within 30 minutes it was nearly full. It was also very good. Everything was tasty, fresh and well presented.So why not give 5 stars? Well this is not Michelin star cooking, it is traditional Curry House food. Very well done and deservedly popular .

We have lived in the village and been regular visitors to the Nupur. We have always found the staff to be friendly, provided good service and very happy to engage in conversation. The food is generally very good and we have never had a bad meal in the restaurant or as a take away. It suits our palate and it is easy to walk to.When visiting the Nupur we always feel like we are taking the pulse of the village as somehow it seems to reflect the wider community and the state of play in the world.

Had an enjoyable (albeit pricy) meal spoiled by a waiter requesting that we vacate the table as we'd finished eating even though we were still drinking.

In use this place all the time since I moved to the village a year ago. Never had a bad meal in the restaurant or as a takeaway. Always excellent food and a superb service.

Sunday lunchtime visit with the family. We had my young niece and nephew with us and the staff were lovely with them. Food was fantastic and great service.

Heard this restaurant was very good. Website said open everyday, that is not true! Came from Solihull to visit a friend, got to restaurant at 9pm to find it was closed. Very disappointing as we were looking forward to eating here. Please up date your website!

I sit here crying over the "curry" I have just attempted to finish. At least my tears actually taste of something. To be clear, I have ordered many curries from here and generally they have been good. I ordered a king prawn korma, I'm not expecting my palate to be set on fire anytime soon but i was expecting a creamy rich sweet sauce. What i received was week old frier oil with a few king prawns thrown in (these were actually good quality)I would like to make it clear this is not my first bad experience with this curry house. Ordering a curry over the phone is usually a fairly traumatic experience. Order whatever you like, collect your food, realise you've been shorted a few bhajis, phone up to complain and get told you're wrong. This has happened to me a good 5 or 6 times. A complete shambles of a restaurant. Avoid at all costs.

Ordered a takeaway Tarka Dall and meat samosa to supplement a family homemade meal. When we went to collect they had forgotten the order so we had to wait for it to be prepared. When we got home and the rest of the food was ready we found that we only had Tarka Dall and no samosas. Disappointed we ate our meal. Later the same evening we called to explain what happened and were told it was too late to get a refund. I ended up having to go back to the restaurant with the empty cartons and receipts. I was accused of swearing on the phone which was a complete lie! Then threatened with forceable removal from the building. They then said you want a refund here it is and threw a £10 note at me. I had been a long term customer. Never again and will tell everyone I know.

Went here with my 2 brothers, all of us love a good curry and know the difference between a good and a bad one - we were not disappointed on this occasion.I ordered the tandori chicken starter - big portion and very flavoursm. For my main I went for a Chicken Tikka Bhuna Vindaloo hot - amazing flavour and heat - polished the whole dish off, mopped up with the plain naan and onion bhajee. My brothers ordered Prawn Poorie and King Prawn Tikka to start followed by Chicken Madras and Murgh-Jhul, rice and naan also - they both were extremly impressed, nothing left on thier plate.Staff were excellent also.I will be going back here very soon!

Not your usual lists of safe favourites for the English national cuisine palette but some really unusual dishes on this menu. The food looks quite a bit different from the standard Indian fare you're used to getting as well. First time here and would come again. The sweets were disappointing though and a lemon sorbet (the usual mass-produced one in a truncated lemon) had to be sent to the microwave to soften it sufficiently so as not to break the spoon. Kulfis on the menu shows authenticity but they're not for me - far too sickly sweet. Other sweets were sadly routine. Main courses are the strength here.

Have eaten here a few years back and it was delicious but not anymore. The sauces tasted watered down. Both ordered spicy currys a madras and vindaloo and both were of medium heat but watery. Even masala watery. The onion Bhajis were nice but the rest was very watery.

the evening meal we had was of a very high standard and the service was excellent and very friendly. The restaurant is very well used by regular patrons on Friday & Saturday evenings so reserving a table is essential. The menus is extyensive so good range of food including vegetarian dishes

We spent a happy Saturday evening here. It is a popular venue and quickly became full. The staff were able to cope happily and well. The food was excellent. Very high quality with an Indian flair. we will happily recommend it to all fans of Indian food.

As a family we've used this restaurant many times over the years and the quality seems to deteriorate from time to time. An evening takeaway was really very poor. The chicken wasn't of good quality. It was chewy and full of veins and the meat was dark. The sauce served with it tasted watered down. We will be giving this place a miss for a while as there are other better and cheaper places to visit in the area with better customer service.

The restaurant has a very extensive menu and the staff will happily help you try a new dish. The food is fresh and hot, no pre-made dishes warmed up. The service is quick even on a very busy Friday night! You do not have to book but if there are a few of you who want to eat on a Friday or Saturday than booking would be advisable. They will fit you in when they can and have a seating area where you can have a drink or snack before your table is ready. Location is in the High Street so parking is limited but the carpark just down the road is very close and a 3 minute walk. Prices are good and the portions are large. Staff are friendly and always have a smile and joke with you. Great atmosphere.

I wouldn't go anywhere for an Indian! The food is brilliant, the service is attentive, energetic and friendly. If I have failed to book on a Saturday evening, I know I can always get a take away.

Visited here for the first time and really enjoyed it. The menu is very comprehensive and they seem to have the ability to get the level of spices just right. We were pleasantly surprised by several good vegetarian dishes. We will certainly go back.

El personal es educado y atento.Tengo la opinión de que algunos restaurantes indios han aumentado su juego. Ido son los viejos días de una fina salsa de ketchup. Reservamos una mesa para 4 en un viernes por la noche con nuestros amigos y todos tuvimos una comida realmente encantadora, todos disfrutamos de nuestra comida y recomendaría el bhoona, vino también era bueno, y el personal amable para el ambiente, sin duda comer allí :).

Mi 5ª visita en los últimos 2 años, tanto takeouts y sentar las comidas, y nunca he sido impactados por los sabores. El personal es estupendo, muy simpático y hablador, pero la comida es insípida. Normalmente un Rogan Josh o Pathia, algo caliente, pero no demasiado, pero siempre han sido tan suave que me siento decepcionado, no tanto por el sabor, pero la falta de especias. Amigos y familia he ido con el mismo, pero también dijo que no tenía sabor, así que no me puedo quejar. Además de que es una empresa local que me gusta apoyar.Esta noche, en previsión de este fui para un Madras esperando que sería un poco punzantes. Hasta hace un par de años que solían reunirse una vez al mes con los amigos y "paseo" los restaurantes indios de la zona cuando en ellos luego marcar la comida, el servicio, la limpieza, y así sucesivamente. Nupur en todo y calificó el 10/10 fue declarado el mejor de todos. Aunque no he estado allí por un tiempo, aunque hemos tenido comida para llevar, que todavía mantienen que su comida es la mejor que jamás prueba y siempre están encantados de asesorarle en su menú si tiene alergia alimentaria, por ejemplo tengo que tener comida gratis, así que te aconsejan lácteos o, a veces, adaptar el menú a mis necesidades. El servicio siempre es cortés y rápido y los camareros son también discreto. Tienen un bar bien abastecido, aunque habitualmente lager india - necesidades debe cuando la comida está caliente. Tuve que dar una calificación excelente ya que nunca me ha decepcionado en nada Nupur tiene para ofrecer. Bien merece una visita.

Just had very disappointing meal in this overrated place. None of the dishes we orderedwas of exceptional taste. Almost none at all.The food was eatable but the flavours never come to the surface.Tesco finest range is far more distinguished and refined....so here comes the question:"why pay these higher prices, for flippantly produced dishes?"Service was on the verge of rushing with food delivery...All together,our experience summary with this place was: ridiculousely BLAND and UNGENUINE.

Sólo hemos comido aquí una vez, parece muy popular. La comida estaba bien, excepto por el achari que en vez de estar preparado con los pepinillos indios parecía sólo tienen un pequeño cebolla encurtida individual en la parte de arriba. La comida no era estupenda para el precio, pero que sólo está basado en la experiencia.

Having enjoyed a previous visit, I was left very disappointed based on recent takeaway. The Chicken Tikka Masala was bland, waterey and resembled gravy, whilst the madras lacked in flavour. Very poor from somewhere we previously rated.

Nos hospedamos cerca para una escapada de fin de semana. ordenados para llevar y aconsejaron a recoger en una hora (que parecía bastante larga, pero hey ho) cuando llegamos a recogerla esperamos 40 minutos en otro lugar - muy concurrido. Pedimos un plato de gambas y dieron una king plato de gambas, que era mucho más caro, pero teníamos que casa por entonces y podíamos hacer nada realmente. El pollo Tikka Masalas parecía más Kormas.En general, la comida era buena, pero 2 horas de orden para comer no estaba bien.

Hemos estado aquí un par de veces y el personal siempre fue muy amable. La comida es de muy buena calidad. Pero se llena bastante, aunque muchas veces se puede esperar un poco para su comida, pero la espera vale la pena. We frequent the Nepur and order takeaways on a regular basis. Food is always first class although in some instances we have been minus a dish with regard to takeaways so check before leaving.

We have lived in London and Brighton and Nupur is the best local Indian restaurant we have come across. The food is expertly cooked, particularly in the tandoor, and very consistent. We're very lucky indeed to have it so close by.

He sido un cliente durante quince años más y nunca he tenido una mala experiencia aquí. He estado yendo a la Napur desde que nos instalamos en Hurst en 2002. Siempre me comentó que era la mejor comida india en Sussex, procedente de una familia india que es alabanza efectivamente. Sin embargo algunos no es justo. Fuimos al restaurante con mi esposa y pedimos platos que normalmente tenemos. El paneer Masala tenía sin sal o especias. Mi Khari Gohst (cordero en un wok) era un hotelucho cordero estándar curry que esperaría pagar £5. Nos quejamos pero no había nadie escucha y ninguna oferta de descuento sólo volver y nos pondrá justo. no volveremos. Una pena que fue un buen restaurante.
