I met with a friend at Notcutts for lunch today. He came down from London and hasn’t been before. Based on today’s experience he says it’s worth the journey and wants to go back again! The fish and chips were delicious. Chips crispy on the outside and super fluffy on the inside. Plus they offer HP sauce (his favourite) The quiche I ordered was very generous and served with a big fresh salad. We were advised at the till that there would be a 15 minute wait but it was much quicker and we really appreciated being told anyway. Fresh food/ hot dishes it’s to be expected. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff and restaurant standard food. We’ll be back soon.

We have been going to the cafe in Notcutts Cranleigh quite a bit lately. Whether it’s for a coffee, breakfast or lunch and it never disappoints. The spring menu is really good and in particular the Philly steak sandwich which is absolutely delicious. It was particularly busy today, ( always a good sign) but the food arrived really swiftly. You can see them working like crazy in the kitchen! The front of house staff are lovely. A great atmosphere. They definitely have the edge on their competitors in the region. The same applies to the garden centre staff as well.

The coffee would taste so such better with the use of full fat milk. Only semi or skimmed milk is available which do not have the nutritional benefits of full fat. Can Notcutts please offer full fat for those of us wanting the full fat flavour and texture to our coffee. Otherwise, the cafe is in a pleasant, airy setting

Really enjoyed sausages, potato and peas. The sausages were of good quality and they kindly gave me extra gravy! Fish and chips were also great. Fish was nice and moist and chips were crispy. They serve a good selection of beers. All for a reasonable price!

We are regular visitors to the restaurant at Nottcutts in Cranleigh. They do by far the best value breakfast in the village, with two large breakfast deal working out at really good value. The staff are very pleasant and always quick even when it gets very busy. The only bit of constructive feedback I can give is that the toast does require a little longer in the toaster so as not to be simply hot bread!

I have been cycling to Notcutts for many years but yesterday was the first time I had cause for complaint although I have noticed the ever-increasing prices. Part of my order was beans on toast and it is customary to cover the whole of the toast with baked beans but in this instance there was much more of the toast left uncovered than covered. I brought this to the attention of a waitress who replied "sorry but that is our standard proportion". There's no answer to that. My friend walked to my table and immediately commented on the portion size being laughable. Incidentally, since refurbishment a few years ago the gate into the garden is invariably locked for some unknown reason causing us to walk through the shop to get to the cafe.

I never write reviews but on this occasion feel compelled to do so. James and his team couldn’t have made our experience any better. It was a rare occasion for my mum to be able to get out and they made it so special for her. From reserving a decent table taking into account wheelchair access to serving up delicious food, the team were super efficient, friendly and went beyond to ensure it was a total success. I cannot thank the team enough.

On our visit today the food was extremely disappointing in presentation and taste. The ciabatta was not toasted, so very tough, the chips were not fresh, had the feeling of being ‘ kept warm’. I would question the ‘ cheddar’ cheese being orange, more like a proceed slice. Sadly the salad also looked tired….. The normally busy cafe was nearly empty, maybe a sign we should have taken more notice of. It’s generally bustling…..

Ordered salad and quiche. Prompt and pleasant service and staff. The meal was unpleasant. Wilted salad, brown around the edges. New potatoes, underdone. And the quiche needed more cooking time. The pastry was soggy, filling watery.

Went here for lunch yesterday with my husband. It wasn't particularly busy and there was no long queue to order food we both had jacket potatoes. Service of the food was quick and with a smile. The tables were clean there was no dirt everywhere and each table had a small vase with some spring flowers. This is a garden centre so I would not have expected high-end food or service: it is what it is. As it was sunny yesterday and with the glass roof and glass of the sides of the restaurant it quickly heated up. I can imagine at the height of summer that it would probably be quite unbearable to eat in there. The jacket potatoes were well presented with a small salad on the side they were perfectly edible and we enjoyed them

The previous reviews have said it all really. Surly service, no greeting or eye contact from behind the counter. Upholstered chairs stained and with dried food on the arms, dirty table. The guy who gave us glasses had 3 fingers inside the glass. This becomes a Public Health issue IMHO. I complained to central office who referred me to the cafe manager. He gave me bland reassurances as expected. He also said the food was cooked to order which is why we waited 30 minutes! Really? So they are cooking my chilli con carne to order??? I doubt it. Heated in a microwave probably. Seriously, this is something central management should be sorting out, especially if they read these comments. Staff retraining in hygiene and customer service, and a complete refurbishment of the customer eating area!! I will be checking this polace again to see if it has improved.

I visit the garden centre often and after a number of disappointing visits to the "restaurant" decided to give it a while before visiting again. I voiced the issues on the numerous occasions and hoped that my feedback would be taken on board. The manager seemed uninterested at the time and it would appear that there is still lack of training, care and attention in many aspects of running the establishment. It has in my opinion slid downhill even further.

Picked up friends who live in Cranleigh. Had drinks and sat down to decide what to eat. Menu not bad except our friend has a small appetite so asked for child's portion to be told small portions only served after 3 (don't children eat lunch before 3)!!! Very few customers certainly not many children. Not one apology, please or thank you, nor a smile - completely charmless. Decided to have dessert - sundaes with clumps of tasteless gooey jam in them!! Staff need front of house training in how to interact with customers who are paying their wages. Certainly not going to attract customers to come back -we certainly won't.

I've been struggling with this, my nearest garden centre restaurant for a long while. The environment is that of a works canteen and incredibly off the pace. On my last visit I ordered a Tuna mayo sandwich on white. It was just that. A couple of not quite fresh white bloomer slices with mushy tuna mayo in the middle and crisps on the side. All for £6.95. I compared that with a similar order I had a few days later elsewhere in Cranleigh - a fresh, tasty granary sandwich with chunky tuna mayo and rocket leaves which cost me £6.50. Says it all, really. And there are no newspapers.

I've been here numerous times over the year, and every time something negative has impacted on our experience. In looking back over all visits, I believe I can point out one continuing problem - that they are clearly not employing experienced cooks or waiting staff. As other people on this site have already said, they employ school children and although this shouldn't be negative in itself, if they were receiving appropriate training, I think this would improve this area. The wages are minimum so they are not going to attract any cook/chef worth their salt. You get what you pay for, although judging by the restaurant prices, this is the exception to the rule. they either need to improve conditions for staff or drop their prices.

We have visited here quite often as there is easy access for getting my elderly mum in and out. The good used to be quite good, fresh and tasty but standards have been slipping. Today will probably be our last visit. We ordered the 'special' of fish and chips - I think they meant 'not very special' as after waiting for about 20 minutes I asked if we might be getting our meal soon, it arrived about 5 minutes later and the fish was do over cooked, the batter dark brown and hard. I asked for it to be returned and replaced, bless the man at the til he was lovely and brought us a fresh pot of tea whilst we waited for our replacements. They were then brought to us, looking a little better, by a rushed and maybe annoyed waitress but sadly still not very pleasant and still very odd looking batter, but softer. I think the chips were the same as the first order but dunked again in the fryer. Very sad to be leaving such a poor review rating but fir £10.95 each it would have been nice to enjoy our meals, which we have done in the past.

I, along with 9 other adults and 3 children booked a table for Sunday lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. Upon arrival a table was available and marked "Reserved". We then set about ordering our meals. Six of us adults decided to have roast pork and the others had various other meals. 20 minutes passed and a burger and three roast dinners arrived. I set about eating my roast and found the carrots to be warm but uncooked with a peculiar taste, the roast potatoes were black and cabbage barely acceptable, the pork was passable but of a very little amount. Time passed and the other members of our party were still awaiting their meals. 55 minutes from ordering I requested to see the Restaurant Manager only to be told it was his day off but the waiter/server of whom along with the other staff on duty seemed to be of school age said he would get someone to see me. A young man arrived and I voiced my opinion of the lack of service and the very poor quality of the meal which was a charge of £9.95 was made for each roast. He disappeared into the kitchen area and emerged with the missing roast dinner albeit without carrots. It would have been far more enjoyable if we could have all eaten together and not an hour between. I suggested that the restaurant should step up a gear as they were fully aware that a party of 12 were booked. This prompted him to request the receipts for the roast dinners and refunded cash for each.I am sorry but I, along with other members of my family will have reservations about eating at Nottcutts Cranleigh again.

I can never understand why garden centres don't latch onto the having children thing. Some people need to drag children around a garden centre, and it's great to at least have a few toys to play with at the end - better still, a small cordoned off area where they can play with Lego or cars or something. The children's lunch here isn't that fantastic either - very limited and not very nutritious. For adults, the cakes are good and the food is standard rapid turnaround sort of fare.

On a visit to the Garden Centre we decided to have lunch here. Quite a busy Friday lunchtime and, to be honest, I was not sure what to expect. Well yes, the queue was fairly long, and I have seen much more extensive menus at Garden Centres, but I noticed there was an option to have soup plus a half portion of a sandwich, so much nicer than the normal hunk of bread. We chose differently and were perfectly satisfied. My toasted ham and cheese panini was delicious and came with a choice of salad or coleslaw, my husband's egg mayonnaise sandwich, also with salad or coleslaw, was very well filled and reported to be tasty. We could each have added a portion of chips at £1.50. The coffee was very good, as was the syrup sponge pudding with custard! Staff pleasant and friendly.

I suppose one cannot expect too much from a cafe plonked at the end of a greenhouse style garden centre...it does the job, sort of. Nothing special but nothing awful too. The place has got about as much atmosphere as a greenhouse can muster on a cold day, and so it is not a place you actually want to stay for too long. It kind of reminds me of a works canteen or school dinners. Thing is, there are far better examples of this type of garden centre cafe not too far away so even though I have free vouchers to come here...I generally don't any more. Shame.

Having decided to pop down to our local garden centre for lunch it was as usual a total disappointment. Having queued for 10 minutes to give my order for the three of us( there was only one couple in front) we duly sat down with our number on a stand and waited for our order- a panini, jacket potato and beans and one with tuna mayo. 20 minutes later and watching other customers who had sat down after us receive our food, I politely asked where our order is. Amongst a flurry from the kitchen it came obviously apparent they had forgotten our order and hadn't started it yet. Just a couple of minutes the manager said. 10 minutes later out comes the order but they had made the wrong panini filling. So back it went. Up to this point there was no apology, or regret they had completely made a mistake, no offer of any compensation. My wife asked for a fresh pot of tea as it had gone cold whilst waiting. The manager at that point conceded a free pot (although it was only replacing the cold one we had paid for) and then asked if I would like another coffee. The panini duly arrived with an ordered portion of chips but that was a sad 12 chips stuffed into a tin mug and cost £1.50. About 13p a chip! If you want to waste your money and be disappointed then enjoy.

This is my local garden centre and I avoid it like the plague. The buildings are shoddy....especially the café where they repainted the walls but left the windows and metal work filthy and broken. Their coffee was disgusting and the food whilst "occasionally" nice, has the smallest proportions possible. Their turkey Xmas dinner was tasteless with the tiniest amount of gravy they would allow, leaving it dry too!Bought 5 outdoor ornaments once and one went rusty and discoloured so I took it back...the other 4 were still okay....just to be told it was my fault as I "put it outside"!

We haven't been here for a while and thought we would revisit as I read they had done the place up recently. The cafe area has been opened up a bit so it's still light and airy. The 3 of us all had a jacket potato with different fillings and all enjoyed our lunch. The tea was fine, cups might be a bit cleaner though and they have soy milk which is a bonus which is what I prefer in tea. When we visited about 12.30 it was very busy but we did manage to find a seat ok. The service was super quick as we had just managed to unload our tray with drinks when the food was delivered. Nice and hot with plenty of the fillings we ordered. Will go again.

I am a regular visitor to Notcutts usually with my wife. We have had coffee lunch and afternoon tea several times over the last 5+ years. On each occasion we have always received very good service from the pleasant staff and without exception the food whatever it might be has been of a very high quality. As a family we often meet there for coffee and a snack to catch with normally 3 children under 11 in tow. They too, are well satisfied with what they can eat and drink and the range available.

Came for breakfast. It's pretty important that the eggs are sufficiently cooked in an eggs benedict. They were not by any stretch so I had finished my full English before my wife's meal had been recooked. It's not cheap so should be better.

Been here a couple of times recently - once for breakfast and the other for coffee and scones. Not entirely sure how coffee is made but really like the decaf skinny latte. Also like the scones which are quite short and fruit laden. A great range of breakfasts and can't fully remember the deals but think there were two for £6 and two for £10 options depending on size and type of breakfast but all we have tried were freshly cooked and very good. Nice warm area to sit inside and four big outside tables if a bit warmer or you have come on your bike!

Ordered online for 20 minute collection but ended up waiting an hour and 15 minutes, despite consistently asking for updates (and consistently being told "just a few more minutes"). When I finally did get the food home, it was excessively greasy and definitely not worth the wait.

My rump steak roast dinner was cooked to perfection, very efficient service! The menu is so vast, will have to come back to try it all.

First visit here for lunch whilst en route to Winkworth Arboretum. Left with very mixed feelings. It's in a nice location with attractive interior decor but... Completely agree with other reviews regarding staff. The girl on the till came to take our order about 3 seconds after we'd sat down; she didn't seem to have a clue how to use the tablet for orders and spent most of her time standing around doing nothing whilst the guy in the kitchen did all the work. As a result we ended up having to wait ages for our food. We ordered quiche + 2 salads and sausage roll + 2 salads. The food was ok but charging £12 for that is outrageous! And to make matters worse, they allow dogs inside and my lunch was ruined by 3 tiny, stinky dogs arriving at the table behind me. In my view, dogs should not be allowed inside where people are eating - it is so unhygienic. Leave them outside! There are better, cheaper cafes around so I suggest you seek them out.

We’ve had brunch here on a number of occasions and find that the service / standard of food you get really does swing between very good and quite poor, depending on just who is staffing the venue that day. Our most recent visit was further proof of this when we arrived through the car park entrance at the back for our pre-booked table. A friend tried to join us from the street entrance and found the front door locked, despite it being 10.30 in the morning. My wife’s ordered eggs florentine which was inedible. The spinach was so wet it turned the muffin into a sponge, leaving the plate waterlogged. Interesting to note that a lot of the prices seem to have recently increased too. A shame.
