Went to Sandy's last night. Big doors to outside seating area were wide open but we were told not to go in that way but to go round to the small front door by some bloke who didn't even introduce himself. Who wants a welcome like that? We left and won't go back. Only a few people there not surprisingly. It's a pretentious and overpriced "piano" bar.

Very lively place, service was good and people were kind. The only downside was that the drinks were little too expensive.

We really enjoyed going here. Food always excellent and fresh cakes too. Unfortunately closed and up for sale. A great pity as we only found it recently.

On a very, very wet day we met friends for lunch. The cafe/bar was warm and friendly. A mixture of customers. A really cheery welcome and no rush to order. Hot coffee quickly served and a good menu to choose from. Fab sandwiches with plenty of filling. Not in the main high street, but well worth a visit.

We passed by and decided to look at the breakfast menu. I went for the vegan option which was delicious and my husband opted for the small breakfast. Service was excellent and food well cooked and hot. We were surprised that the place wasn't busier although it is off the main shopping area. We returned later in the afternoon for drinks and will definitely go back next time we are in Witney.

Visited for a light lunch on Saturday. There were tables available but there were quite a few other people enjoying this bistro bar. It was warmish, seats were comfortable and the food was excellant. We both had beef and horseraddish sandwiches with a portion of fries. When we left at about 1.30pm it was getting quite busy so obviously a popular place. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be going again.

Been here for lunch quite a few times recently, there is a good selection of food on offer for lunch and breakfast and it's always freshly made and good value for money. It's very spacious ideal for buggies, so ideal if you have little ones (most cafes/restaurants in Witney not suitable for buggies). It's also ideal just for coffee, they have some lovely homemade cakes one offer also.

The food is always good, wether it's just cake and coffee or lunch. Lots on offer as well as a specials board. Would recommend the soup and sandwiches. Good coffee, plenty of space for pushchairs inside or out.

The serving staff were not very friendly or helpful. They did not have their long hair tied back which was flicking around close to my food, the food did arrive promptly and was well presented and tasted good. After the meal I went to the toilet and there was no soap of any kind and the hand dryer did not work and there were no paper hand towels. Because the staff were dressed in summer clothes and open toed sandals it was hard to tell who was staff and who were customers. We will not be going back.

The best place in Witney is the first thought when I hear the word nortons! Sometimes gets a tad busy on Saturday night but after spending half an hour stood at the bar waiting to get served, you can buy 10 cola bombs with a 20 quid note and go nuts. Always hit nortons at 1 just before it gets too busy. Shame it never really opens on a Friday, missing a trick there if you ask me. Plus there’s a good 65% chance you either pull or end up in a fight!

On business I popped by this restaurant bar. It is spacious and airy. It boasts a lovely outdoor patio outside which must be great for people watching in the summer. The coffee was excellent, genuinely friendly service. A really nice break.

A quite unsatisfactory experience with a disappointing night out. The staff were rude and insulting, the hygiene in the toilets was appalling, and they did not seem to have a limit on the number of people let into this bar/club- overly crammed.

Never been in the day, so not sure what it's like as a cafe... but it's a great place to drink and a good dance at the weekend (of which there do not seem to be many places in Witney). Got all the latest tunes pumping too. I found the locals fun and friendly here!

Late lunchtime, we wanted a light lunch and after wandering around Witney, we spotted this place. It looks reasonably comfortable inside but it was a warm day so we chose to sit outside - the only downside of that is that the smokers sit there too. But that's not the restaurant's fault! The outside could do with smartening up a bit but no real complaints. If there had been they'd have been forgotten when the food came. I chose the chicken fajitas - a small portion it said. Nothing small about it. Very tasty, plenty of chicken. My husband had a BLT with a small salad. Lovely fresh thick bread with plenty if lean bacon and the most delicious dressing on the salad. The cost was quite reasonable. Service was quick and friendly. We'd definitely return if we're ask in Witney.

I live in Witney so I know all about Nortons. By day, it's a sort-of café but by night it's a nightclub.Unfortunately: the bad food quality and type of building (designed to be a bar) mean that it's a poor café; and the tiny size and popularity with paralytic teenagers mean that it's a horrific experience as a nightclub.I'm 20 years old and even I look on this "nightclub" with distain, and it's even gained the nickname "SNortons" because of the number of people claiming to have taken drugs on the premises. I hope to have conveyed in this review the true nature of Nortons. I really can't recommend the food. If you're 18 and looking for a cheap night out with your classmates aged 17 who have sneaked in with fake IDs, then this is the place for you. Everyone else should stay away.

Service in the day time are brilliant, really nice staff. The food is the best for a lunch out in Witney, all home made and really filling! They do loads of specials as well as usual bar food. Could do with some tlc but other than that really good. Also fun in the evenings, good atmosphere and DJs!

Arrived at Witney so i could do the Wychwood Brewery Tour (also recommended). Looking ofr a quick bit found Nortons. A strange cafe bar feel (later learned at night it is a very different animal). Went for Toasted sandwich I had steak and stilton, my daughter asked if they could do steak and cheddar - no problem and my wife and tother daughter had brie, cranberry and bacon. Three teas and a coke. We wer eaksed if we would like the tea in one big pot. The sandwiches wer emade frsh to order, the tea was a large pot. I was running out of time so asked if I could have mine to go - no problem - produce dit wrapped for me but then offered that as I was not having the side salad would any of the rest of my family like it. The steak was not a thin flash fry steak but thick and juicy. If I am eve rin Witney at lunch I wil be having another. The service was done with a smile and as you can tell very obliging.

Went later than normal lunch so wasn't so packed and sat in the undercover corridoor just outside the giftshop entrance. It was quite cold out in the courtyard and indoors seemed a bit chaotic with lots of staff clearing tables and kids running around. The ordering line blocks the view of the cakes so you need to be in the line to see them, but it moves so slowly and you can't get a good look at everything all at once which made me bounce between decisions a lot. The location of the clean trays didn't make sense and I had to leave my spot in the line to pick one up. Others in the queue didn't mind though so I was able to jump back in, but not before another couple hijacked my empty space to get the till operator to fix their order which had something wrong with it, leaving me standing there a little awkwardly holding an empty tray for a while. With my poor eyesight I couldn't make out the small writing on the menu which was way back behind the till and everything turned out to be quite pricey but that was expected. Ordered a carrot and walnut cake, sausage roll, and a latte. My coffee was excellent, though I had to stand there with a loaded tray waiting for it as it was the slowest moving part of the process with only a single barista and machine. The susage roll was still hot and really tasty, and the cake was fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful.

A very cosy environment and a busy atmosphere gave the Fleece a really nice buzz. There was some big tables in enjoying Xmas work meals and so we were advised that service may be a little slower but in fact everything went very smoothly. The staff were all very friendly and professional despite being busy All the food was delicious, the service excellent and the choice of 0% beer very good! Portions were decent, there were some nice ‘gastro’ touches like the crisp chicken skin accompanying the Chicken Schnitzel and the truffle mayo. And the Tiramisu was stunning! All in all, great food, friendly service and a cosy venue
