Bank holiday treat as chosen by my 4 year old. Came home and tasted it and the batter is spicy! From someone who comes from a seaside town this is very unusual, not enjoyable at all and not stated anywhere. Will not be going back

I dropped into the Nook for a coffee on my way home from visiting family in Lancaster. I was greeted with a big smile and friendly service. In the time I was there I watched the staff being very friendly with all the customers. I saw that some of the customers were elderly and some vulnerable. One particular staff member served them and she was patient, kind and took the time to make sure they could sit where they wanted because routine was important to them. I do not know the name of the staff members but I left there feeling joyous, thinking that it’s good to see that there are still people who are kind, caring and concerned about their community. What a great little sanctuary, I wish nothing but continued success to this cafe and the team……oh and the food looked like good old hearty comfort food and not scrimping on the portions either.

Excellant service, helpful and friendly. One of our party has a number of food allergies and no one made us feel as if this was a problem for them. They took note of the problems and cooked our meal accordingly. Cheap and good food in a very friendly atmosphere.

We called for something to eat before shopping in the salendine centre. Hubby chose a medium breakfast, which was generous for a medium!, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms & 2 buttered toast & coffee, all for only £5!. I chose a sweet chilli chicken & bacon panini with chips & a mug of tea, Two good meals for just over a tenner, which is good value. The ladies that run the cafe are very nice and friendly, the place is very popular, and they have a good choice on the menu & daily specials. They were chatty and efficient, even in this 'draining' heat.

An individual, younger member of staff was incredibly rude. Made me feel very uncomfortable and seemed quite nasty. All the other older members of staff were lovely.

Wanting some lunch before we shopped, nipped into Nook to see what their daily specials were; Meat & potato pie [lovely], we both ordered this, with chips & peas, we also got cabbage & carrots as well!. 2 well filled plates of hearty food [ nice to have a pastry bottom as well as top ] A Proper pie!, we polished it off with gusto. A large mug of tea & coffee finished the meal off nicely, a trip to the bathroom [compact & clean] then we were away to sainsburys, 2 good lunches & drinks for just over £12, very reasonable! While in the salendine shopping centre, we dropped into 'Nook' for some lunch. I just fancied a sandwich, so I had a sweet chilli chicken+ bacon panini, this came with chips or salad, I chose the latter. Hubby wanted pie and peas, but they'd sold out so he had an all day breakfast instead:; 2 sausages, 2 bacon rashers, 2 eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato with 2 slices of toast [plenty of butter]. He managed it all, except one piece of toast. He really enjoyed it, washed down with a mug of coffee which was included in the breakfast price [£4.95, bargain!]. my panini was tasty, longer than the usual panini rolls [its cut into 3!],I had a mug of tea as well. Less than £10 for two lunches is good value!. The staff are really nice & friendly with all their customers.

whilst in salendine shopping centre, i called into 'nook' for a bite to eat. i did'nt fancy the special sausage casserole, so i chose a roast pork dinner + a mug of tea, just £5 for a small one and a drink. there was also roast beef, pie + peas, tomato soup on the specials board. as well as a comprehensive menu. my dinner was plentiful ;- pork, yorks pud, potatoes, 3 veg, stuffing + gravy, very tasty too. no dessert today, after a good plateful. they have a cake selection and choc biscuits. students from the college call for lunches here on week days, mainly hot sandwiches are popular with them.

we called into nook while shopping at salendine shopping centre. we perused the menu, hubby chose a pork dinner, i plumped for pie+peas. the dinner had roast pork, yorks pud, new spuds, cabbage, carrots + stuffing, hubby soon cleared his plate. my pork pie came with 'proper' mushy peas, i added some brown sauce, i'd have preferred mint sauce but i presume they have it when roast lamb is on the menu. our lunches were very nice, we had a coffee+ tea to go with. they do daily roasts, pie of the day, home made soup, as well as a full menu and breakfasts. they open 07.00am to 4.30pm weekdays, up to 2pm saturdays, i think about 9 or 10 to12.30 on sundays. its a good little cafe with friendly staff. the prices are very reasonable, our lunch today was less than £10 for both of us,bargain! we were too full today to have one of their home made cakes, maybe next time.

This little gem is tucked away at the back of the shopping arcade in Salendine Nook. The food available is mostly traditional English. I call in often during lunchtime and have one of their great omelettes or jacket potatoes along with a large cup of their wonderful coffee. A wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches are also available as well as a roast of the day. It has now become a firm favourite with my grandsons. Everyone is friendly and conversations are shared between tables. Great stuff

called in for lunch during my daily constitutional, to keep my little legs active. i was'nt sure what i fancied, the daily specials were meat+potato pie, home made soup and roast pork dinner, i plumped for the latter. large or small? the lady asked, i chose small, and a tea. for a small meal there was plenty; pork, mash, mixed veg and 2 small yorkies. i cleared my plate, don't think i would have if i'd had the large meal. my tea was just right. all this for just £5, very reasonable. it seems that quite a few diners are regulars, and students from the local college call for hot sandwiches at lunchtime.

while shopping in salendine nook, i needed a breather so i called in to the nook cafe. it was fairly busy [at 12ish] i had a large milky coffee and succombed to a bacon roll, £3.15, not bad i thought.a young lady brought my coffee and my butty followed closely, both were hot and welcome as well as being tasty. the menu was quite comprehensive and they have specials daily like roasts /pies/soups e.t.c. the cafe is bright + clean with chequered tablecloths. when i'd finished my snack the cafe was filling up nicely, its tucked away at the end of the shopping centre, next to a hair stylist, the centre is an assortment of shops + doctors/dentists. a bus stop on site and its near the main road [new hey road].
