Nice chips but cheapest produced sausage ever purchased - looked like they were bag of 100 wholesale for £1 but £1.90 each for a small one 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Given this was 2nd place tried to get acceptable food we’ll be eating at home before we go to hayling for an evening in future.

Normally their fish and chips are good, but not today. 2 cod and chips £19.20, way overpriced. The chips were inedible as they were like rubber. Obviously lunchtimes refried. The fish wasn't much better either. Over cooked and greasy batter covering dry fish. If this is what one can expect along with the ever increasing prices, they can keep it. I used to be a fan, but after the sad excuse that was served up tonight I'll pass in future. If they have a new cook, they need to get shot of them pronto.

Rude staff, overpriced and a minimum spend on card. Not on the same planet , I don't understand when customers pay their wages and outgoings, why they want to to be rude . I went to another chip shop with real customer service and was quite happy to hand over my money. And to have a minimum spend on a card is something out of history.

I have paid £7.50 for medium fish and chips and the fish was very small and chips very oily, the most annoying part was they have literally wrapped my fish and chips in a paper rather then a box and all my food was stuck in wrapping paper i have to peel it off, it's ridiculous, people paying this sort of money and they don't even serve you a take away box!!!!, never ever again

On the window and counter has signs clearly stating social distancing, only two people allowed in at same time and masks to be worn. I was sitting waiting for my order with another customer when I was flabbergasted that three men were allowed in not wearing masks and no distancing. They were served as usual and not told to wait outside. Excellent fish and chips if you're prepared to risk your health.

Normally very happy with the service, unfortunately this time we were met with rude responses and lack of masks and gloves worn by staff I don’t feel this was very safe given the times. Very unsanitary

This is a very clean (take-out only) fish/chip shop .... lots of choice with majority of stuff being cooked to order; telephone orders are welcome for larger orders in advance. Prices seem to go up pretty regularly although I guess that's the same everywhere and the food is definitely worth that little bit extra .... parking outside not always easy although there is parking round the the back of the little parade of shops adjacent to it.

Stayed at a friend's for a bite to eat recently - he wanted fish & chips! He drove about 14 miles to Hayling Island and back to get them as he will eat from no other chippie in the area. I have to say the fish was very good. The chips were good as well! Not sure I would travel so far myself, as it got a little cold by the time we got back, but hey! All was good I didn't visit it myself!

Paid £1.60 for smallest portion ever seen. Counted 20 chips. Poor value for money. Rang the shop but frankly not interested to what I had to say. Won't be going back. Whistler's & dolphin offer much better value as well as nice food, service, pleasantries etc.

Fish and chip shop. The very best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Prices are about the same as anywhere else. The staff are friendly. The food is cooked to perfection. The cod is fresh and full of flavour batter perfect and the chips are cripy outside and soft on the inside. A visit is a must to anyone who loves the great British meal.

Having tried most of the chip shops on the island this is by far the best. The food is always hot and freshly cooked, it doesn't hang around under glass for ages. The fish is always tasty, well cooked and has a lovely light crisp batter. The chips are equally as good being crisp on the outside and soft and moist inside, nothing dry or chalky. They are generous with the salt and vinegar and always polite and pleased to see you.

I went to nobbys chip shop to be served by who I can only assume as the manager, she was rude and exceptionally ignorant. As far as the food is concerned the chips were soggy and the fish was under cooked, causing the batter to be soggy. I could have rung the grease out like a wet flannel. I would not recommend this fish and chip shop to anybody who came onto the island! Disgusting!

On holiday to hayling island from norfolk. Wss looking forward to some hayling island fish a chips but unfortunatly Pretty much as slippersailor says. Chips are bad some soggy, some over cooked and some under cooked. The fish was very small and all stuck to the paper and it was all fairly expensive. Probably better chippys nearby somewhere. With much better value.

A Friday in February. It is a 'NOTHING SPECIAL' fish n chip shop. Let's see, smiles rather than miserable would have been nice from the staff. At 5pm it was open and cooking to order. Decent sized piece of fish, light coating of batter, plenty of chips, less than £5. Then they were eaten... Oh my the first few chips were hot and seemed fine - as they should. Then the oily lingering after taste hit. And it did! (Cost saving to reuse or not right temperature, I have no idea but seriously fatty oily tasting, o dear).

I am a 'once a week lunch time' customer to this traditional fish and chip shop. Excellent fish and chips - freshly cooked while you wait. The battered cod is crisp and fresh; also plenty of flesh on the cod, and the various size chip portions are generous. Discounted cod and chips Monday - Thursday for pensioners but they are the same size portions as normal price cod and chips! Represents good value for money and in my view probably the best fish and chips on the island!

Having seen the reviews of this chippy, I thought I would abandon my usual and give Nobby's a try. What a mistake! I ordered a large cod, which eventually arrived overcooked, dry and tasteless. The chips must have been hanging around for hours, they were a mix of soggy ones and undercooked ones - how do they do that? Who on earth said this was the best chippy on the island? Its probably the WORST in Hampshire!

Nobbies is the best chippy on the Island. It is on the main Elm Grove road near the Mengham shopping centre and if you go in the evening, you may get one of the 3 parking spaces outside. It is only a takeaway and the fish porions are good with not too much batter. The chip portions are generous and crispier than most places. The chinese owners own the chinese takeaway next door, but I've not used that chinese. You will not be disappointed with Nobbies as the fish is usually cooked from fresh..

This is my local Wetherspoons whichwas visited by my wife and I yesterday at 4.30pm. It was noisier than usual which was due to the England New Zealand rugby match. We also used the App in here and the service was super fast which was good given the queue at the bar. Overall a great Wetherspoons experience and good value for money.

I stayed here on 9-10 Nov 2024 with my partner, going to an event nearby. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and that's where the compliments end. Because unfortunately the lovely bed was in a room that was in this hotel, which was regrettably dreadful. My expectations for the hotel were not great. But the location was ideal for our reason to stay. The hotel smells damp from the minute you embark on the trek to your room up the many stairs that flail off in different directions. Our first room smelt old and mouldy - the wardrobe was unusable because of this. My partner decided to use the bath (after a quick clean) which was all going well until she tried to stop it. The cold tap wouldn't turn off, sending us into a mild panic. I shot off an the expedition back to the reception, where I quickly interrupted the two chatting staff (still in a mild panic) to explain that we can not turn the cold water tap off in the bathroom. The response was a very serious, 'Would you like us to come and take a look?' 'Either that, or your hotel might flood, I guess!' By now, I could have quite easily cancelled my evening plans and just driven home, but they soon realised the issues and moved us to another room. The new room (49) was much more modern - 1990's I'd say compared to 1970s in the previous room. The bathroom was less mouldy and the taps worked which was a start. The wardrobe also smelt fresher. Despite being told when we checked in that our room was not near the downstairs wedding party, we were actually on the top floor directly right above it. So, when came back to the room at 11 ready for bed, the room was shaking and filled with the beat of what seemed like a rave downstairs. My partner was none to pleased to say the least and shot off back on the journey down to the reception. (If you want to get your daily steps in, this may be the hotel for you if you can cope with all the other stuff BTW). When she argued that we were told that we would be nowhere near the party, the answer was along the lines of... 'Oh no, all the rooms are either near the bar or the venue. She wouldn't have said that'. The only plus was that the party was finishing at 11.30. So, at around 11.20 the rave stopped and we had to endure a room full of party goers hammering out Angels by Robbie Williams, followed by You'll Never Walk Alone before the music stopped and the throng of people went for a loud chat outside, right beneath out window in the car park. Thank heavens for ear plugs. Needless to say, We'll Never Stay Again.
