No4 in Bolsover

Came tonight on the off chance and luckily managed to get a table in the outside courtyard.Had a lovely evening in the sunshine, and had the cheese lovers sharing board with a baked camembert, followed up by freshly baked, warm Bakewell Tart and ice cream. Delicious!!!!For anyone who has never been to No4......you don’t know what you’re missing!!

We were driving through Clowne and No.4 caught our eye. We turned around to have a better look and saw it was doing takeaway food and drink so we called in. We only had drinks and a snack but the owner showed us the tea gardens which they were getting ready for opening up next week. The tea gardens looked an ideal place to spend a bit of time relaxing on an afternoon so we said we'd be back to give it a go. We ordered a mocha and a dirty chai and both were lovely and of good quality. I would definitely recommend No.4 and wish the owners well as lockdown eases. Clowne is lucky to have a place like this and we will call back again.

Visited with Mum, Sis and Aunt for brunch . We travelled from Doncaster to take Mum and Aunt on nostalgic trip round their childhood haunts when we came across this little diamond. What a lovely place very well decorated great ambience. The lady behind the counter was great very attentive and accommodating. Service was superb , due to unforeseen circumstances we could not stay long so just ordered tea, scones and tea cakes . All of the food was first class and we were served very quickly which we appreciated. Will definitely go back when we can stay longer. Lovely place , food and staff.

Well what can we say, popped into No 4 today on a off chance visit and was not disappointed. We do not live that far away and have seen the coffee shop loads of times with intention of going but never got round to it. We had a lovely brunch this morning, I had eggs benedict with ham and my wife had it with smoked salmon and cream cheese, amazing and delicious. With two very nice slices of cake to follow.Staff where lovely and the atmosphere is nice too, a lively little place where you can have a grown up time out and not feel pressured or rushed. Would we recommend it YES, would we go again YES, hoping to even try and get a sitter so we can try a evening meal. Huge thumbs up from us.

Called in as at half way point on our walk. Warm welcoming atmosphere. Great coffee and dog friendly we’ll be back.

Called in for a quick coffee and a pastry and, as ever, was not disappointed. Really well made Americano and TWO fresh and flaky sausage rolls, sitting in the sun! A simple but delicious treat. Great to see Lynn, David and the team all back from their new year break.

Lovely Restaurant/cafe. Friendly staff nice menu choice and - excellent strong Coffee. Oh and they accept well behaved dogs too. Had the special tart with salad and wedges and a cappuccino. We stopped here rather than motorway services and will be back!

We brought my Mum in on Thursday for a creamed tea. It is the first time we have visited and we were really impressed. The flowers outside and the quirky decor made it a lovely relaxing place to sit and we loved the little history books that were inside to read. The scones and cake were beautiful and the man that served us was lovely and polite. We’ll definitely be back again, thanks for a lovely time

My friend Julia & I decided to book a table for the "fish & seafood" themed night. I have to say this is the 5th themed night i have done. Previous ones are...Caribbean, Mexican, Brazillian & Indian. Every one ive been too, the food is absoloutely top notch. However, I have to admit, i was a little unsure about the fish night. Dont get me wrong, I knew the food would be 5 star, but i thought it might be a little basic with it being fish. Oh my god. How wrong was I. The starter was exceptional, it was a crab in a coconut sauce, served in a little shell of filo pastry. Lovely to get the tastebuds going. The best was yet to come. The main course was prawn stroganoff, OMG never tasted anything like it & also a dish of cod baked with banana cream, topped with cheese, with a side order of potato & mackerel & another of rice, followed by a light but tasty desert. Is there any wonder that there is a waiting list at this place.

We went for Afternoon Tea as a work outing (5 of us), booked in advance with a variety of food allergies to cater for. We were very well looked after with friendly staff and lovely environment. There is a lovely outside garden too which was too chilly today but will go another day when sunny. The food was lovely, tasty and fresh with a refreshingly good variety. We will definitely go back here. It was so nice to be able to eat normal food alongside others and not feel like the odd one out - my Afternoon Tea was gluten and dairy free and my display looked just as nice as everyone else's. Definitely a place to visit -- not far from Creswell Crags either.

We visited here for a lunchtime treat on a Saturday. I phoned to book the table as I wanted to check that a wheelchair would fit through the door and also ask if dogs are welcome. The lady I spoke to was really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We were given a table just inside the door which was really handy - no messing about. Service was good. We ordered cheese tart which came with salad and potato wedges; a jacket potato; and a sausage roll with a side order of wedges. All the food was beautifully cooked and presented. My son says the wedges are the best he's ever had and we need to take him back again soon! All in all a lovely family lunch. Would definitely recommend as the owners are so friendly and accommodating. We need to return to try out the cakes! Prices are reasonable and the menu choice is good as there's something for everyone. Our little dog was also offered a biscuit and water! Great place.

Lovely venue fab food brilliant service pity the management spoilt our celebrations by not letting us have a piece of 50 th birthday cake because we it had not been bought at the venue even though our bill was over £100 & the place was very quiet so we weren’t taking up a table To the management I’ve worked in the catering industry for over 30 years as a manager & never ever I repeat ever have I Known this to happen take a close look at yourselves before you become greedy & money orientated ps there was no need for the nasty glare when you through the box back on the table very unprofessional perhaps a customer care cause would do you good there’s loads on line

We visited No4 on Easter Saturday and had a lovely lunch in the cafe’s garden. The sun was shining and the welcome was just as warm. We always love visiting No4 and Lynn and the team made our visit a great one.

Perfect family lunch at No4 today. This has become our favourite venue for relaxing with great food, service and surroundings. It is always an absolute pleasure to visit. Cannot recommend No 4 highly enough... and dogs are made most welcome too.

My friend and I called in for lunch and really enjoyed our time there. We had a pot of tea, jacket potato and followed on with some scrumptious cake. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly too.

On this occasion we had missed the lunch time rush, so we had our coffee straight away, but our meals took about 10 minutes to appear. It was worth the wait, my sandwich salad and coleslaw looked and tasted fabulous. My husband's Jacket Potato was large filled and was baked in the oven, not in the microwave. We are in no way regulars but are always welcomed and the staff are always pleasant. The day we ate here the sun was shining and I wish we had sat in the garden, maybe next time.....

I’ve recently moved around here and I popped in here with my boys and it just didn’t seem very welcoming for family’s.

I recently visited with some friends for lunch, it was cold and the cafe just wasn’t welcoming. It’s the first time I’ve tried this cafe. I found it expensive for what you got. There are far nicer places to visit locally like the Parish Oven where you get decent food for a better price.

What a great place this is. Recently refurbished it has retained some of the old period features from the shop that's stood on this site for over 75 years. It offers locals and visitors a variety of hot and cold drinks (it's also licensed), cakes, sandwiches and a selected menu for more hearty appetites. It also has a themed menu on selected Friday evenings which is well worth attending but you have to book early to avoid disappointment. The place is great, it has a tea garden when the weather gets warmer, the staff are attentive and very polite and the food is just what you expect from such a lovely establishment. This is a real gem and that goes from strength to strength.

Really nice coffee with a brilliant atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Myself and my wife both had the breakfast frittata, the bread was extremely nice.

I have visited No.4 a few times now and have never been dissapointed. Great range of lovely dishes and the hot Chocolates are a perfect winter warmer. Will definitely be recommending.

All the negativity to this page is uncalled for and to me looks like some local business has a vendetta. Lynn and team keep up the amazing work and carry on being you and honest.

Absolutely love this place! Visited a number of times with friends and family on different occasions and there is nothing too much trouble for Lynn and the team!

As a treat for my mother after having a hip replacement I decided to give this place a try, at first we were impressed with the modern exterior and quirky decorations. Sadly seating is limited and we were squashed into a dark corner with extremely poor seating especially for my elderly mother, we both found it a little cool and both kept on our jackets.

Expected so much more from this place, recently moved to the area so was looking forward to a decent cafe in the area.

I came here with my 2 young sons and grandma for a hot chocolate. After being on edge thinking my son's will be up and out of the seats (being kids as kids do) and being a disturbance.

After dropping all the kids off at school me and my friends decided to have coffee at this café. It would be nice if you could serve us our coffee with a smile rather than give out a frosty atmosphere. After finishing our drinks we could feel the glares as though we weren't welcome any longer - soon after we decided to leave. Safe to say we won't be returning any time soon.

Visiting with my bf and decided to pop in for lunch. Staff know nothing about the menu, rude and unhelpful .

I’ve been here several times in the last few months, many of those times for afternoon tea. The service and attention to detail is impeccable and the food is lovely! All items are reasonably priced and of an excellent quality. A real local gem that I cannot recommend more highly! Thank you No.4!

I feel I have to place a review on here as to inform others.... my mum and I visited No 4 for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and both had poached eggs on toast and a pot of tea. The tea came and was fine, we waited nearly 20 minutes for our breakfast by which time we had no tea left to go with it. The toast was stone cold and the eggs like rubber!!!!!

My partner and I love coming to No.4 for brunch. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere and decor is fantastic and it truly is the best coffee around. The staff here are lovely and so welcoming. We've heard such great things about the theme evenings too so we'll definitely be coming back soon with friends to experience those!

Very nice welcoming staff, lovely place and the food was delicious. Portion sizes were just right and very nicely presented and great value for money. We will be calling again when we are next in that area and maybe will try one of their themed nights

Came here with a friend for a catch up and it's great that it opens late on Friday cause we struggle to find a Coffee Shop that does that. Friendly/great staff and the décor is gorgeous. The hot chocolate was great. The only thing is that it is £10 and over for credit cards and we had no cash so a quick pop over to Tesco was needed but apart from that. The atmosphere was relaxing as well. I'll be coming back soon

No4 is a great find - good food and excellent coffee in an old toy shop.

Had a very nice lunch there today. Waitress , Aysia, was really pleasant and helpful. Would appreciate some padding on the chairs though. Perhaps they aren’t so hard if you don’t spend 3 hours having a good catch up with your friend.😄

What a find! Such a wonderful building with friendly staff. We ordered breakfast, the eggs were cooked brilliantly and the bread was really fresh. I’ve definitely found my new fave cafe. I can see why they have been awarded a certificate of excellence. Must visit!

Had afternoon Tea here on Saturday, Me & my other half go in quiet often,but on Saturday a group of 8 of us called in. Service was fast & friendly food & drink was as good as always!!!!

Needed somewhere to meet old school friends not seen for 50years, this place was the old toy shop we all remember so booked a table. We loved it, the staff we lovely and friendly, we were chatting a lot but we were not rushed.into ordering, when we did our food was lovely. This place is well worth a visit, we will use again next,t time.

First time I've been here , my friends have been before and recommend I try it which I did, the last time I went in this place it was with my daughter a few years ago owned by Mrs Rattue , it was nice to see that the owner's had kept most of the shop counter the same as the old shop was ,the food was excellent staff couldn't do enough for us smilling friendly staff made our evening hat off to all

Four of us had a great lunch in a beautifully converted shop from my childhood. The owner took time to show us around and explain the work they had clearly undertaken with a passion. The menu was mouthwatering and catered for all tastes and the food was obviously home made. This business deserves to do very well indeed and is a must for anyone looking to eat and or drink well in the local area!

This is an old toy shop that has been very sympathetically renovated with many of the original fixtures and fittings retained. This place does a good range of coffee, cake, lunch type stuff in the day as well as a basic but good food range in the evening. The wine range is limited but perfectly acceptable. This is a lovely little independent, which is the best place in the village by some way. The owners and staff deserve much credit and I hope they and the restaurant go from strength to strength. I will be going again when I am back in clowne

My partner and I are both from Whitwell and go into Clowne a lot to do our shopping at Tesco. We drive past this place all the time and kept on saying we needed to go in because it looked so nice on the inside. We're glad we finally did.

Our first visit to Clowne. It was a mining village not too pretty but what a find No 4. I understand it was an old Toy Shop and many of the old fittings, shelves etc have been re-used to great effect. The food was excellent, beautifully served. The staff were lovely, most helpful. Coffee and desserts a must. Looking forward to another visit to try another dish ( and dessert !!!!) We could recommend most highly.

This is a really nice café, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. We found this by chance as we were passing through Clown and fancied a cup of tea and coffee. We have been back a few times since. its worth a visit.

What a wonderful place, arrived at lunch time, and it was very busy, we sat down and within 2 minutes the menus were placed in front of us, I opted for the tart, with wedges, side salad, and coleslaw, all homemade, which is a rarity nowadays, quick and efficient service, we couldn't resist the homemade scones, clotted cream and jam, and another coffee, the interior decor is loverly, very clean, excellent toilets, and there's a free car park, nearly opposite, the staff were very friendly and had time to tell us about there "theme night" they are going to be hosting, all very reasonably priced. This was my first visit, but it defiantly won't be my last. Well done to all the staff.

a group of 8 of us were out cycling from Sheffield yesterday and looking for a café around Clowne. Came across No 4 and we were properly welcomed and tables juggled to sit us down together. Food menu was a bit more interesting than most cafes and of great quality. Really nice eclectic decor and furnishings, very clean and pleasant service. We'll be back!

This quaint little place is run by freindly people. We attended the valentine's night and it didn't disappoint. We had our table for the whole night so wasn't rushed took our time had a lovely evening. We had king prawns to start followed by the chicken in white wine sauce.

We have visited this place often since it opened a year ago and always been happy with the service and food on offer. Recently they have started doing special themed evenings, not every week but around once a month at present, and we booked for the Italian night. It was busy but the staff coped excellently, each course was delivered on time, as was drinks making the evening a pure pleasure.

Went to the Italian theme night last night and it was lovely! Great value for money with friendly and helpful service. Made a nice change to do something different locally!

I had caught the bus to Clowne got very cold then wandered round doing some shopping. By 11.30am i was tired ready for a rest. Had a warm welcome at No4 had scrambled egg on crispy white toast and a restoring dragon green tea. The surroundings are very relaxing. A fresh single of the rose made it feel extra special. People forget how calming fresh flowers are. The service was friendly and helpful. I left restored ready to wait for the bus home.

Stop in for a fabulous coffee or tea or for brunch or lunch. No. 4 is ready for whatever you need to take a break in your day. Remembrance Day they did an excellent job with their decorations and costumes and still managed to handle a real crowd. So happy they are open for our enjoyment. Will be back to sit in the window, read the paper and enjoy my Latte!

Group of 4, evening meal before Christmas and what a delight. The food was of the highest quality, the attention and information from the owners was second to none. The restoration and the thought that has gone into the planning of No. 4 is outstanding, and does real justice to what it was previously. Would definitely recommend, and we did go back the following morning for breakfast which was excellent.

Took lunch here. Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the premises are tastefully decorated. Chose a Dirty Chai with an extra shot & it was lovely. The broccoli & Stilton quiche, although nice and tasty, was just a shallow tart & the accompanying side salad, although also nice I felt would have benefitted from salad dressing. The scone with clotted cream & jam was really lovely. I would visit again.

I recently visited no4 for an afternoon tea and was so delighted with the whole experience. Food, tea and prosecco were superb and the scones, delicious! The coffee shop has a wonderful atmosphere with staff who can't do enough to help. It's also beautifully decorated with cosy lighting and quirky interiors. I would highly recommend booking for an afternoon tea and can't wait to visit again soon!

Stopped by for coffee and cakes with friends . There is a good selection of cakes and drinks that are fairly priced . The cake can sometimes be slightly dry but I put that down to the time of day I visit . The main reason I have only rated average is because the male behind the counter lacks customer service skills , someone really needs to show this man how to be polite and how to crack a smile . He does not make you feel welcome in the slightest.The lady that works there is just the opposite , very friendly and can't do enough for you .

I knew of this place before it was converted into a cafe, it had been a cycling/toy/knick knack shop many years ago and has been sat closed up for years. We came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was lovely with a choice of hot or cold light meals and a few extra specials not listed on the menu. We also had to sample some homemade cake which was delicious. It was nice to see they'd kept some of the traditional fittings from the old shop from years ago as well, making this a quirky but cosy place.

My sister came across this cafe and had heard it had good reviews... we were looking for somewhere for a long awaited catch up with our friend. I’m not from the area but it seems like it’s a great addition to the area.

Went here Friday evening with friends for wine, nibbles and meal. Wonderful atmospheric place and attentive and friendly staff. We ordered several tapas style dishes to start them opted for tart, or pulled pork after. All food fresh and tasty. Drinks well priced. Highly recommended.
