THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! DO NOT BOTHER GOING IN! At Niles Cafe Pentewan Road Saint Austell PL25 5BU Ordered coffee and cakes to take away, I asked the young man who was serving me if it's ok to leave the cakes there whilst I go to the toilet he said ofcourse. As I was in the toilet I heard a lady shouting my order, I rushed out the toilet, and went over to the coffees and she said I shouted out your coffees twice.. I said sorry I was in the toilet. There was a que of around 5/6 people (with families) so I waited for few minutes and tried to get the young man's attention to grab my cakes and leave, he was busy so I thought to save the ques I will go ask the lady who done the coffees (the coffee machine was not on at this point) as I approached her and she looked at me she turned the coffee machine on and shouted I mean Shouted at the top of her voice!!! I CANT HEAR YOU THE COFFEE MACHINE IS REALLY LOUD!! I was shocked and just said back ok no worries and she SHOUTED I CANT HEAR YOU, YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT I CANT HEAR YOU, SORRY I CANT HEAR YOU. The whole of the cafe was also looking shocked! JUST BIZARRE!!! Another young man, came over and took over and I said all I wanted was to grab my cakes and go and even he looked shocked at how the lady acted. The two young men was very friendly, helpful with good customer service. This woman is the RUDEST person I have EVER came across in my life! She should not be working there with that fail attitude, very very poor customer service, clearly can't handle a que of 5 people. NASTY!!!!!!

The food was good, particularly the pasties we have had there. However on our last visit my wife asked for a single shot cappuccino, which was apparently not on the menu. The lady by the counter said she would do one. My wife noticed that a man had made the coffee and when brought to the table, she asked if it was a single shot. The same man said quite aggresively that they don't do single shot cappuccinos, only single shot lattes. Why the difference I don't know but took the coffee back and returned with a larger mug with the same coffee topped up with more milk. Reminded me of Fawlty Towers hence the 3 stars.

Beware deciding to eat in - our sausage roll increased from 2.20 to £3.25 and an iced bun changed from £1.50 to £2.60. No clear signage to warn us that we'd be paying so much more to sit at a table to eat. Won't be back again.

If I could give a zero, I would. I made a special trip to the café, arriving at 16:45 (they shut at 17:00) purposefully to get my daughter-in-law a takeaway coffee and cake as a treat, as she's home having had her first baby. On arrival, I asked for the coffee, only to be told that the machine had been 'cleaned down', and couldn't be used. This is madness! If I had turned up after the shop shut, I could understand it, but why on earth do you advertise to be 'open' until 17:00, if you're not!! Why aren't the people working there, cleaning the machine down at 17:00, when the shop actually closes, to allow for trade to happen up to the actual closing time. Because of the incredibly awful, disgusting lack if service, I didn't get anything at all so youve lost out on a sale, completely trashed any faith with your customer base and I shall certainly not be recommending your 'services' to anyone (quite the opposite). Absolutely, shockingly terrible service.

Great spot. Just up the road from where we stayed. Friendly staff, efficient service and really good food. Breakfasts, sandwich's, pasties and cream cakes all made fresh with a great view of the sea. Pet friendly and a nice balcony with seating.

I can't believe so many negative reviews. We have been going to Niles for breakfast, not everyday, for over 2 years! Never had to complain about the food or the service. Pleasant staff, even cooked my bacon well done when asked. Also the best pasties in St Austell.....well done!

Breakfast tasteless beans and egg cold the rest boiling hot not impressed won’t go for breakfast again. For coffee and a cake or pasty lovely but forget breakfast .

My friend and I called here when passing on our way from Padstow to Treverbyn where we were staying. We both had a coffee and cake and while the coffees were lovely, the same couldn’t be said for the cake. I found it to be rather stale and dry. The service was good.

Won't go there again. Poor service, waited 15mins for a simple cake. Ordered pasties that were not ready (which is fine) however, was then told after 20 mins that they assumed we were taking pasties out and not eating in. Strange seeming we were told where to sit and the cake that took 15mins to be served to us at the table (table not clean).

Stale toast is served as part of their expensive breakfast. Staff are obviously unhappy as rude and throw items at you. Wouldn’t mind so much if it was cheap!

I had a stale danish the other day, thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt so went in today to choose one, a very nice young lad was about to serve my danish of choice only to be interrupted by a screeching member of staff shouting ‘ No they are all the same you cannot choose’ . She was old with grey curly long hair extremely rude and if she was on my staff I would get rid of her as she is certainly not good for business.

I asked for vegetarian and vegan pasties. The shop assistant didn’t know and she turned around and asked someone perhaps a manager? I was told they only have the vegetables one that would be suitable. I asked if the cheese and onion was vegetarian ( pastry) but was told it wasn’t. Quite disappointing to only have one option if you’re vegetarian, and I got no further explanation if it was vegan or not? The manager didn’t like I said that it was disappointing and questioned me. He said that their vegetable pasties are very good. The manager has in my opinion Very poor and old fashioned views, not great customer care either. He seems to be satisfied with my one and only option! There were also some cold prepackaged cheese and onion pasties on a table in the shop as well, and the ingredients listed fat, but not saying what kind of fat. Probably lard? I bought the vegetable pasties, but after tasting them I am in no hurry to go back to this bakery. Dissatisfied with this bakery that has staff working that hasn’t got basic knowledge of what their ingredients are in their products. Their food labels are only giving limited information.

We arrived at the café at 4:20 at the end of a strenuous 15 mile walk. Towards the end which was all uphill we really hurried as we were conscious of the time. On arrival instead of a warm welcome we were told take away only and they wouldn’t let us sit down to drink it even on an outside table ! What was all that about ? We were hoping to support a local business but it wasn’t to be ! English hospitality at its poorest.

We bought 2 large steak pasties yesterday afternoon from this store. Both were well overcooked, hard and black underneath. Clearly left in too long. Not cheap and not not edible

I was advised by a bus driver to check out Nile’s cafe and bakery and we happened to stop here. Lovely service and friendly welcoming team members. The food was simply on point for us four and a decent cup of cappuccino before the 5+ hour drive home.Thank you very much and you guys did the bud driver proud. If ever back in Cornwall I’ll definitely stop by. 🥂💐

Not the biggest "mega" breakfast I've ever had and not particularly cheap but it was ok. As someone else mentions, 1 or 2 of the staff could be friendlier and maybe not almost throw the toast on the table and not say a word.

We had two mega breakfasts, two cups of tea and 3 slices of toast, toast was hard, impression it was stale bread, breakfast ok, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, hash brown and beans, cooked nice but by no means a mega breakfast. I found some of the staff rude and certainly not pleasant, however two of the ladies who work there were polite and pleasant, walk in with anticipation, it's a mixed bag .

Enjoyed breakfast here having decided not to eat at the Cornwall Hotel and Spa. What a great choice of menu and hot tasty food. Seems very popular with sit downs and trades getting take-a-ways.

Always had a nice word to say about this place the young staff are very polite ..but just recently visited for breakfast spent 16 for me and my mother ..had. A small dog with us which I asked for a small carton cup or dog bowl for water for the dog as dogs are welcome ..to which the manager or owner was rude and answered aggressively shouted ..no it ends up back in the kitchen, and walked off .... With a attitude... I stood there speachless ..after spending 16 pound a takeaway carton with a little water would not of harmed him .. I would never speak to my customers like that for no good reason.... If he had a problem with dogs ...easy put a no dogs allowed sign up ..

Great value for money breakfast. Two breakfasts for twelve pounds. Great staff, very friendly. Park behind when very busy All smiles when you eat at Niles.

Bakery products not always fresh on the day and the lattes are always flat white not frothy as they should be. Not what you pay for. It was take away otherwise i would have taken it back. Very dissappointing.

I am the kind of person if you tell me I am in the wrong expect some reaction, being told I had not waited in the queue when I had waited patiently to be served is enough, and to be shouted at by another member of staff from the shop that I was rude tends to get a bigger reaction. You know what they say about first impressions!

We popped in for lunch and were really impressed by the food which was fresh and delicious. The coffee was good and strong. And the bun I had afterwards was really good. Staff are friendly too. Thank you!

Came here for coffee and breakfast after an overnight stay at the Travelodge. Had to wait a little while because there was a rush on, which is testament to the quality of the food. Amazing breakfast and would recommend to anyone. 👍🏻
