Regular to Newquay often calling onto the bakery for a sandwich to take to the the beach - food is ok / pretty good service very hit and miss called in on a random visit to Newquay a couple of weeks ago we are Always polite say hello & enquire how there day is going etc, service hit and miss & felt like it was all too much trouble to make sandwiches and get some cakes from the selection, all in pretty poor service and on this basis not sure we would go back. Elder lady and two young girls serving in front of bakery, shop was empty and they are not remotely interested in serving us all too much trouble £17 lighter and not so much a thank you at the end.

We come to newquay every year and without fail have to have breakfast from Niles. Stumbled upon it by accident the first time and never looked back, consistently good Breakfast every day and the ladies who work there are lovely. If they are full and we have to go any where else it's a disappointment by comparison. Definitely worth a try

Great value breakfast, lovely toast, bacon , egg , beans & hash brown my only complaint was the sausage, tasteless cheap and anemic looking . The coffee was hot and strong . I would return but avoid any dishes with sausages ! The ladies serving and clearing tables were all very friendly and extremely efficient and hard working.

I just LOVE this place. The staff are so friendly and talkative. The coffee is always perfect.. but... the cakes.... OH MY... the cakes! Buns the size of your head, ring donuts that you could wear as an bangle, yum yums so big and so soft you can't move after eating one! Every year we come here for coffee and cake in the morning before we make our way home and it never fails to make me happy.

We popped in for breakfast as it was joined onto the bakery below and the food looked lovely. We both ordered bacon, sausage and egg sandwiches and were very disappointed ..bearing in mind the cafe is full of freshly baked bread/breadcakes ..the sandwiches came on 2 slices of cheap white bread with margarine slapped on. The sausage was of the cheapest almost meat free variety. Latte was nice and staff seemed friendly. Would not go back.

No trip to St Austell would be complete without having breakfast at least once at this fabulous bakery shop cafe. Not only that but if you can't face breakfast their cornish pasties are second to none. We visited the Carglaze cafe everyday on our trip to St Austell. Spotlessly clean, fresh and the staff aren't bad either.

I'd award 3.5 if possible- the better side of average. We were attracted to the establishment by good offers on breakfasts and impressive looking over-size cakes. Staff all seemed very friendly advising of seating and in serving. The cafe facilities were definitely better than those of large bakery chains I'm used to. The café area appeared clean despite being perhaps a little run down and in need of an update. Toilets were down a very worn, dingy stairway but were good in cleanliness despite a dodgy handle. Toasted sandwich was very nice, breakfast was typical cafe food, cheap meat but perfectly well cooked and great value. The OJ wasn't the nicest but everything was presented nicely. A very good basic cafe with great views from window seat.

Had read that Niles did gluten free Cornish pasties and I wasn't disappointed. The taste was lovely and even the pastry was good. The only drawback was that I had to wait for it to be made fresh as they don't keep them made up but was worth the 20 mins wait. They did scones which I bought for my family but not gluten free for me.

Popped in here for a cream tea. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Was delivered 2 freshly baked scones, little jar of strawberry conserve and lidded pot of Rodda's cream. That impressed me as usually you get ordinary jam and cream served in staff filled pots. Although I had to pay an extra £1 for coffee instead of tea, it was worth it as the coffee was lovely. The scones were beautiful and larger than you normally get. Absolutely recommend.

Dog-friendly, nice if you're a doggy person but not if you are not. So, 1:30pm on a Friday and only four people in the cafe upstairs, (oh and the two dogs), so something amiss here? My view:Established 1955 and looks it, shabby and dull. Check out the cute little Rodda's cream flag, with its flag pole black with dust. I like to support small local businesses, but this is not how it should be done. Quickly served, but with a dull and uninspiring Latte and an equally dull, dry and luke warm pasty. Customers also like to be greeted and welcomed with a pleasant "good morning" or "good afternoon", NOT "What's your table number?" These things are so basic, it shouldn't need to be said.A great trading location and by other accounts, great products at very fair prices, but with the big name competition across the street this little cafe needs a make-over and to revisit some customer service fundamentals. So disappointed.

We were going around the high street looking at the shops when we discovered this little gem. We went inside, and up the stairs to the restaurant, but had to wait for a table for all of us. I would suggest that the management develop a "waiting list" policy, as, although we were next in line for a table, a group of lads tried to jump ahead of us to secure a table, and we had to politely ask them to joing the queue. We had all-day brekfasts (there are various breakfast options), and the coffee and cream teas were great. The staff were polite, friendly, accommodating, and this was a great cosy little place for spending a meal. Recommended - great value and a lovely place.

Stopped here by chance and found they offered a gluten free Cornish pasty. Unfortunately they need at least an hours notice as they are cooked fresh from frozen. On the second trip we were too late to get one fresh as ovens had been turned off but I was able to take one home to cook. Gluten free pasty is normally awful but this was lovely. Slightly disappointed at the lack of meat but can’t have everything!

We had a look and were originally put off as it was upstairs and we had a buggy but the assistant noticed us and was so friendly we went up. The food was lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed my bacon sandwich and cup of tea. The rest of my party enjoyed their food too! Clean plates all round! Very child friendly and quite reasonable

Never liked this bakery untill we sat upstairs watching the world go by, Ordered a breakfast and was very nice and good value although £2 for a cup of tea is steep. My wife had a sandwich here and has not stop talking about the next one. Nice staff and good service

This looked like a traditional coffee shop above the bakery part. You ordered at a counter having found a table with a number on it. The drinks and food were then brought to your table.Ordering was quick easy and friendly. The tables were dirty with waste food scattered on them (the place was quite busy but it would have been easy to give them a wipe after use). The seats were likewise covered in crumbs. Our order was Ok but the coffee was spilt down the side of the cups. It tasted nice however.Food was good but just really usual cafe fare.

We stopped here after seeing amazing huge donuts in the window. The donuts were genuinely perfect, soft and very enjoyable

As the title suggests this place was a let down for us.The pasties were good but it was busy and disorganised with quite a few messy tables. If you have a food allergy then forget it. For a bakery in 2018 to not understand Gluten Free and not even appear to care about it is totally unacceptable. Tea and coffee was okMilkshakes were made with room temperature milk and cheap flavour mix.Cornwall has way better.

I don't think I have ever tasted such a good chicken pasty before. Wow. Was so scrummy and delicious. Would definitely recommend this place. We bought a pasty at the bottom counter not realising we had to order upstairs to sit at the table but the lady was kind enough to let is sit upstairs this time as we didn't know. Lovely friendly vibe and tasty pasties.

Went in to cafe up stairs with my partner and had a cream tea which was delicious, the place was very inviting and clean and service was great, but what really made this visit great was how lovely and polite the young people who were serving and who were in the kitchen were, it was a pleasure to talk to them and be treated with such a great attitude, if you fancy a nice break from shopping in Newquay this is a great place to visit

Had breakfast here twice - brilliant service and food. Had vegetarian breakfast /eggs on toast with beans and my bf had a massive bacon sandwich . Food was great - few healthy options maybe add a few more to menu? Smoothie/ avacado on toast ? We went to the bakery and got iced buns/ cream cakes and took them back to have with a cup of tea. Everything tastes amazing and fresh - pop in and try it. ❤️

Visited Newquay with our dog on a rather bleak and windy February afternoon, quite a few of the tea shops were closed, and those that were did not allow dogs in. Then we came across this bakery. Sign outside said they allowed well behaved dogs in. The tea room is on the first floor above the bakery, it was fairly busy but we had a seat in the window overlooking the high street, which was very pleasant. We ordered 2 cream teas and the scones were absolutely delicious, they came with plenty of jam and clotted cream. The girl serving was polite and made an effort to ask us how we were. Overall a very pleasant experience with delicious scones on a rather dreary day.

The prices for fresh sandwiches and salad boxes were about the same as pre-packed ones from supermarkets but cheaper than the more fancy looking sandwich shops. Generous portions and tasty. Under priced! Will return.

We visited here for breakfast as they had an offer of 2 full english breakfasts for £10. The cafe was clean and plenty of tables. There were toys and colouring books for our daughters to use which helped keep them amused while waiting for our food. The food was a good sized portion and very hot, didn't have to wait very long either. The only thing that we weren't happy with was the baby change facility. There was a change table in the corridor near the toilets, so no privacy and also opposite the downstairs kitchen area. Other than that it was nice enough.

Very expensive for what it is!! Dry baguette with ham (tasty ham) and cheese, a bit of salad and coleslaw (not very fresh) and a flat white came to £13.70!!! So stunned at the price I just paid it. I live in Truro and certainly won't be going again!

We visited this pub twice during our short visit as the food was so good and very reasonably priced. On our first visit we had the freshly caught cod and chips which really did look like a whale on a plate. Would highly recommend this place and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

Had a standard cappuccino here and it would've cost me less to get a taxi to Lidl and make it myself. Probably would've tasted better too.
