Newhaven curry house in Lewes

Over the years had three in a row of poor quality food. Last night gave it another try after over a year Food good. Delivery good. Price good portions good.

The food was delicious and it was reasonably priced! Great to have on our doorstep. Thank you Newhaven Curry House

Saw a lot of mixed reviews so had to go and try I must say this is an amazing Indian take away and the prices are amazing staff are friendly and the food is delicious

Simply the best take away in the area.

I love getting a takeaway from here before getting the boat. Friendly staff. Top drawer vindaloo and Peshawari naan. Perfect for eating somewhere near the water.

I live three miles away and buying from here is thus a considered buy. Sorry to hear other reviewers saying that sometimes they've missed the mark, but I've been buying from them for years now. Hot is hot. Mild is mild. Very consistent and very tasty. For my part I have no reason not keep going there. Keep up the good work guys.

Lamb tikka and king prawn tikka were both very nice. Chicken Northern was exceptionally tasty. Onion bhaji were very oily. Garlic naan and tarka dahl were tasty. Staff were very friendly.

I had ordered take away food. Food was ready on time. Service with smile Food was delicious and very authentic. It was cooked to our taste not too chilly. Highly recommend

A one on a lifetime experience. As in I will never eat from there again in my life. Bhajis literally swimming in oil that was clearly past its best. Food bland, tasteless and sour in a bad way. I don't usually leave bad reviews but this place was so very bad I've made an exception. The worst Indian food I have eaten in over 50 years.

I work all over the country & always get an Indian wherever I go. I can honestly say this is probably the best Indian I’ve had!! & trust me I’m one fussy eater! But done exactly how I like it from the first time, & at a very decent price with really good portions. Definitely would recommend 👍👍 I’ll be coming here whenever I’m working near brighton. Great little hidden Gem of Newhaven,

Good quality service. Rice was nice. Chicken tikka masala was ok, sauce was of a nice consistency but wasn't particularly rich nor sweet, about average. But for a curry and rice under £10 definitely a bargain.

Very good curry house, the food was full of flavour (lamb rogan, p.naan and a saag aloo) and very well priced. I will be ordering from here again!

Orderd from here before it was okay but it was terrible this time my korma was watery and bland my partners narnbread was burned and the onion Bargies we soggy would not recommend and will not be ordering from here again 🤢

We thought we would try this curry house. I ordered a chicken Kohrai and it was not at all spicey but over hot like a bad vindaloo . The chicken wasn’t even marinated as a kohrai normally is. I was going to review my partners vegan biryani but she just said I’m acting like victor meldrew so I’m going to stop at that. Not for me I will try another .

Hi, I know this seems Abit odd….. I do love a curry but the chicken tikka masala didn’t seem to make me horny like the last time :( I would like to ask the owner for a refund but he didn’t want to tickle the pickle this time. I love you all good night

We ordered from here (change from Malonchos in Peacehaven) as we can get it delivered but never again will we change from what we know is good! The lady on the end of the phone was lovely and helpful but when our food arrived it was cold. The rice, from where it had cooled from being so over cooked, was stodgy and stayed in lumps! My mum asked for her curry to be medium rather than the advertised mild which I was told was fine but when it came it was milder than mild! The onion bajis were tasty but cold, the naan was cold and chewy! My butter chicken had little taste. I called to let them know rather than post online but when I was told “we send the same rice out to hundreds of others and they don’t complain” and dismissed I changed my mind! Do not recommend!

Ordered a few curry's from here not too long ago, unfortunately the korma was very very bland and watery, the other curries ordered were very nice, but had to throw the korma away

Went to the Newhaven Curry House for a take away order on the Monday the 27th. I had a Chicken Tikka and it was still piping hot when we arrived home and the curry was absolutely superb and very tasty and was thoroughly enjoyable. The order was super quick and the staff were very pleasant and very polite. Thoroughly recommended.

Fabulous, no other word for it. We ordered a takeaway on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and both meals arrived on time. We were told 45 minutes on Christmas Eve and an hour and a half New Year's Eve and both bang on time. The food was exactly what we ordered and piping hot. Generous portions, I had lamb and it was tender and tasty. The husband had chicken and he said it was perfectly cooked. We had always used the viceroy but we thought we'd try this for a change and we were not disappointed. Very reasonably priced too. Will definitely use them again and would recommend 100%

It's Christmas Eve and my husband and I ordered from here. We ordered at 5.30pm expecting a fair wait but was told 45 minutes. The food arrived just 5 minutes after that with an apology from the delivery guy, although we would easily have waited an hour or more. Every dish was piping hot and exactly as we would have liked. Very generous portions, we had chicken and lamb dishes, superb quality meat in both, one was chicken northern, absolutely amazing. 3 meat dishes, rice and 3 sides for a little over £25, fantastic value. Highly recommended 👍

Really fantastic Curry House. The food was delicious and delivered very quickly, piping hot too! The delivery driver was also very friendly and courteous, will definitely be ordering again!

Service was awful told me it would be an hour 1 1/2 hours later I called only to be told the order would be a further fifteen minutes obviously forgot the order food turned up bland do yourselves a favour go to moloncho even McDonald's but don't bother with these clowns

Asked for a lamb balti and they gave me a lamb korma. Rang up and they argued that it was a lamb balti. Never seen a yellow balti before. Tasted like korma too. Said they’d send a driver round to inspect and bring what is asked for. Since I’d had a fab balti from there before I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. Brought round the same thing. I’m shocked and flabbergasted that I’ve just lost my favourite dinner from my favourite curry house. Not saying all other meals are wrong but I won’t be going there again. Sorry Newhaven Curry House

Having been a regular customer for many years was disgusted at the flavorless offering. Asked for extra hot resembled less than mild. Coupled with this food was not hot and the delivery driver absolutely stunk of cigarettes, smelt like he had smoked a whole packet on his drive to our house. Once I receive this kind of poor quality I rarely return, so my regular custom will now go to another curry house, I am disappointed you let the food go out like this

Get a Indian once a week from newhaven curry house and never disappoints me , not one for writing reviews , but just had a delivery and was delicious as always :), always nice and hot , my bf loves his dansack jalfrezi hot . X

We've used Newhaven Curry House for a long time and only ever had one problem years ago with a dish that was completely cold - we rang to complain and they replaced everything and knocked the price down as well.Delivery times are consistent, reliable and the curries are very tasty. One of the best takeaways in the area..

We have used this curry takeaway a few times.the food is hit and miss some times you get your full order some times you don’t sometimes the food is ok sometimes it’s not but what really is not ok it seems like they believe they are doing you a favour selling you a curry, it seems to be their attitude??

Food ok we have had better from there. Delivery was half an hour late, luckily the food was still hot enough but the rice was really sticky, like it had been sitting around. When I called to ask were our order was they didn't seem to recognise the order at first, perhaps it was still in the kitchen because two minutes later it turned up.

We had takeaway, each had a curry and two sides, loads and loads of meat, we are good eaters but too much for us so we have frozen rest and will have another meal "free"! Excellent. Only downside, madras nowhere near hot enough but I had been warned and so ordered a pot of vindaloo sauce. This was actually madras strength so just the ticket. All for less than £30! Bargain.

Never had such a greasy disgusting take away curry, turned up Luke warm, swimming in oil and the response from the manager ... Well what do u want me to do about it. I will not be ordering from newhaven curry house again and if uv got any sense u won't either

Consider myself to be a curry Guru and would say this did not fail on all accounts to be a VERY nice curry,, From the fresh Pom pa Dom's & tray of pickles the quality of the meal was Spot on. Full of both food temperature hot and the flavor of MY chosen Naga spice was a compliment to the Chicken,Rice was cooked to perfection and even my Wife commented on the flavor to her meal Prawn Chicken Sag very tasty.We had been recommended to this restaurant by work friends and it did not fall low on expectations ,,Newhaven not the most exciting place to visit for a night out but Curry made up for this,, Will return again perhaps not leave it 10 years as before

The food cooked here is amongst the best I have ever had from an Indian takeaway. Order to delivery time can be a while, as they're very popular, but it's well worth the wait. Pleasant staff and often a nod of recognition from the kitchen when I call in.

Title says it all! This is my wife's favourite Indian in Newhaven - and I must concur! We usually by all the sides from the supermarket and get yet curries and onion bhajis from them. Never been let down yet!

Food below average and service awful. Chicken from one dish was watery and tasteless and rubbery in the other dish. Onion bhajis so dried up they must have been days old. They forgot to deliver the naan and when I telephoned they didn't even apologies, just said to remind them next time. HHmmm, don't think there will be a next time....

Only take-away, but the tastiest Indian food for miles. The boys are polite and the service is good if you book in advance, but it's so popular there can be quite a wait if you just turn up.Highly recommended.

Food is fabulous but the people are unfriendly and rude. They treat customers as if they can't be bothered and are a nuisance! But its a takeaway and you don't have to be their friend.
