Really delicious food in a nicely furnished traditional pub. Lovely, warm, courteous service. Veggie curry was especially good - how do they make tofu taste that good? Very impressed, will be back soon. Car park a decent size too.

Had a lovely Sunday Lunch in this wonderful British Pub. The Bar area was homily with a roaring fire and the Dining room warm and cosy on this cold and miserable day. Both wife and self (Pork for Her, Beef for me) agreed best Sunday Lunch ever with ample roast potatoes (always a plus for me) and carrots ,parsnips, cauliflower cheese and mange tout (usually a bit non descript but these were done with bacon bits - delicious) and lovely gravy. Great chocolate brownie for pud and a lovely pint of Guiness (perfect head) to compliment it. Highly recommended.

The wedding food and service was excellent nothing to much bother they made it a great day for the couple.

Met up with family of 12 on a Sunday - welcoming and social distancing was spot on, but nowhere near as good as the food WOW - they do a mean roast. It is without doubt the best I have had - ever! The presentation and service was there to match. The sweet menu was just as good. I will definitely be going there again - just a shame I live so far away. Well done to the management and staff there - keep it up. See you VERY soon!

Just had lunch at the New Inn. It's clear that the staff had spent lockdown cleaning, painting, gardening and making the pub generally spotless … even the loos had been done! It’s my first meal out since lockdown ended, and was a little concerned as I was taking my elderly and quite frail parents out. I called up beforehand and arranged a table outside if the weather was good, or an isolated inside table if it wasn't. I needn't have worried as the precautions they take go far above and beyond what I was expecting. Loads of sanitiser points and we saw staff use them regularly. We had to text our contact details to a telephone number, which I thought was a neat touch. I hadn’t been here for well over a year, but it was nice to be recognised and remembered. Took advantage of the sunny weather and sat outside ... garden was really lovely, tables spaced at comfortable intervals ... grass was neatly trimmed. Garden furniture seemed to be recently oiled teak. Hanging baskets with flowers. I thought it looked as though someone took great pride in the garden … lawn was neat and tidy with a selection of shrubs and mature trees. There was a kids play area, but it was roped off (coronavirus). I’m not sure the last reviewer and I went to the same pub? Food was hot and tasty - decent pub grub with some interesting dishes you wouldn’t expect. I couldn’t spell it (or pronounce it either apparently!), but I seriously loved the Polish dumplings wrapped in cabbage, and my parents both enjoyed their burger and larb gai. Service was quick and very friendly. It's nice to be going out again!

The garden needs to be tidied! Long grass and weeds. Not acceptable for the prices you are charging! Disappointing food considering the cost. Staff delightful though. Please consider spending some time to make the garden nice or get a gardener because it would make your guests experience much nicer!

I stayed at The New in with my teenage daughter. We were attending a wedding at a nearby venue. The room (Chianti) was really comfortable and tastefully designed. Very quiet and relaxing, even though it was quite close to the pub bar. The bed was so comfortable I could hardly get my daughter out of it in the morning! So a lovely stay. But what really impressed me was upon realising a week or so later that I’d left my jacket hanging in the wardrobe, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They posted it back to me straight away.

My daughter and brother decided to try out the New Inn. It is a typical Brakespear pub but with its own style of menu. The pub has a nice" country pub" feel to it and the menu has a nice mixture of upscale pub grub. I tried my go to benchmark pub food which is a burger. This was a homemade Patty, with onion relish, Swiss cheese bacon and sauce. Very tasty and flavourful. My brother had the Chicken Fajitas which came out on a sizzling hotplate and sides of cheese, sour cream and guacamole. He said that they were very nice and helped Hime with his wine. All in all a pleasant, well priced menu and we would come back again.

Another one of Breakspears pub walks and on the occasion the New Inn was booked for lunch at 1pm. We arrived early at 12.45 and were greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our table and drinks were ordered and promptly delivered. At 1pm the food order was placed and then it all went wrong...... 45 minutes later I enquired about our order.....it was being plated......another 15 minutes later it arrived! 1 burger and chips etc, looked good and a decent portion.... 3 Thia stir fried chicken.....portions that were just about starter size....3-4 tiny pieces of chicken with rice.... very tasty but not worth the amount we were charged. Very disappointed. We decided not to bother with desert as we couldn't wait any longer. The waitress did deduct the drinks off the bill as a gesture. If only we had been kept informed. If there is a delay please tell your guests whats going on. The only other niggle is the door to the garden which was immediately behind us. Children using the garden continuously leaving the door open. At least I had something to do while I was waiting for food!

Like many people we find the preparation of a nice Chrismas Lunch is hard work and can lead to lack of family harmony in the kitchen. So when my daughter and her husband suggested we go out for Christmas Lunch, my wife and I readily agreed. After some research of local venues my daughter came up with a short list of three or four possibilities. None cheap but what do you expect on Christmas Day? The most expensive was the New Inn between Caversham and Henley, it promised to tick all the boxes and in the event it did! Set in a small village in what was once the local village pub. Recently updated to include a good restaurant and an adjacent small hotel. Adequate & easy car parking

Stayed for one night in April as only a short drive to my call in Reading. Make sure you leave good time to get to Reading as it's a very busy run into town! Kidmore End is a very nice area. Good to have a walk out into the countryside (co-op shop around 20 mins walk if you need to pick up a paper). Plenty of parking at the pub. My room was enormous, very clean with a warm bathroom and powerful shower. Quite pricey for single occupancy at £110 without breakfast, though this is what you pay in this area. Food and beer were alright but service in the restaurant could have been quicker. The lady was rushed off her feet and it became quite busy on the evening. Could definitely justify taking on an extra body I reckon.

This was a lunchtime meal, so the menu wasn't huge. This is actually a positive, as the emphasis seems to be on tasty, good value pub food rather than on an extensive menu. The portions are huge and the food is great - the baked camembert was particularly good. The stand out item here is the chips, which sounds stupid but it's a rarity to find chips done really well. We were lucky enough to get the table by the fire, as other tables were a little chilly whenever the door was opened. This place is very small, but has a lovely, friendly atmosphere, plus a spacious garden for a summer pub lunch. An excellent country pub.

This family pub, situated in the village at Kidmore End, serves a small selection of ales, wines and other refreshments and good wholesome food.My preference is for roast beef to be served medium rare, which was not the case on this occasion; the portions were small - an extra slice (beef) would not have gone amiss however, the roast potatoes where perfect - crispy on the outside and soft inside. The wine included in the offer was rather nice considering the offer included a starter each and then main course for £22 for the pair of us. I had the asparagus, my friend had the soup I had the Thai beef salad and my friend had the chicken sandwich with really chunky home-made chips - we both agreed that it was lovely.I shall be returning with the husband possibly the kids, obviously the Groupon offer is to showcase the pub as the industry is struggling - save our good old British pubs!

Came here for lunch with the groupon deal. The restaurant was surprisingly empty for a Friday lunch maybe it's because of the location. We were given the menu and was advised by the male waiter the groupon deal includes a starter and main course upto the value as per voucher. We had to pay the difference if the menu choice exceeds the value. We were also advised the wine offered can be exchanged for beer at no extra cost. The starters arrived plentiful and beautifully plated. The mains was reasonably nice but I must highlight the guinea fowl was very dry and a bit well done. Only one dessert was ordered - passion fruit creme brûlée. I have eaten this in many restaurants this is the most disappointing one - it was thick and stodgy and had a slimy after taste. It's a shame the black coffee was weak and could not clean my palate. We got the bill and was surprisingly shocked we were charged for the beer. I called the male waiter and asked why we were charged for this he said usually we don't charge for beer when exchanging for wine but does not understand why the manager insisted it should be added to our bill. Surely we should be told before getting this surprise. I asked to speak to the manager he said she left what a coincidence. I reiterated I will not pay for the beer as we were told it can be exchanged at no cost. I felt sorry for the waiter but surely the manager should be onsite.Pity this little issue has spoilt our lunch and I doubt we will return.

We have been here a few times. The food is consistently high quality, tasty and suitable for a family celebration. However, it is reasonably priced and we have also turned up in walking boots and eaten in the bar . The staff are very cheerful and friendly and the service is good too.

We have been having sunday lunch here for quite some time and it is always excellent--both service and food.-- a rare combination these days Often take friends who enjoy as much as we do. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Dora is a star and a wonderful host

I stayed here for 1 night in September for business and what a lovely little find it was. This pub with rooms is set in a quiet little village just a few miles from Reading. It looks like your typical country pub from the outside. Inside I found a warm, friendly welcome, a cosy pub/restaurant and a lovely modern room. The rooms all have their own name and come with comfy bed, lovely bathroom with walk in shower. Tea making facilities and biscuits (alway important! ) was welcomed. Being in a village its very peaceful and the restaurant food was fabulous, no need to go out. Staff were really friendly and welcoming and the price very reasonable compared to local prices. Why stay at some large chain hotel where you are just another face when you can find lovely little places like this.

We viisted this restaurant with a Groupon Voucher the night after it changed ownership. I would describe the food as high quality pub food, however, the menu was varied and the quality of the food was excellent, my wife particularly enjoyed the liver and bacon. The new management appeared to be trying hard to please their clientele and we will defintely return.

The restuarant appeared to be up and coming but our experiance with a party of 9 was very disappointing. The service was dreadful as we had to wait 1.5 hours to be served. this was eventually explained away as they had not received one of our orders in the kitchen. We were told many times before we were eventually served that our meals were being plated. I think this was probably correct as the food we received tasted as though it had all been reheated before the final plating. The food in our opinion was not of the quality one would expect in a restuarant that display both AA and Michelin stars on its door. The lady in charge that day eventually gave us a 50% discount on our meal however when I contacted the owner she thought this was far too generous and would not have offered discount to us. She also complained that we had asked to see the chef and could not understand why we were unhappy as no-one else complained on that day. And oh the chef refused to see us!Not a good experience

Ok. No had two experiences here and Hands down the worst Indian I've had. Bad quality and no taste to it. Even the salad was. Bad. No effort by chef. Worst in Didcot. I can only imagine it's not a 100% a Indian food business
