Friday evening after a surprisingly quick journey of 4 hours from Sussex we came to the New Inn on a bitter cold moonlit night certain of a welcoming environment and provision of a varied menu. Refreshing to find a busy bar - well supported by local villagers - the New Inn happily succeeds where other venues have not. A varied menu, attentive staff and quick service of delicious locally prepared choices provided instant refreshment and replenishment. No hesitation recommending this venue for the locality. 10 out of 10 Thank you

They have a great menu nice wholesome home cooked food . The specials board is always good. last time we had leek , bacon and tarragon pie , it was the best pie i’ve had , sadly not on menu this time around . this time we had steak chips and pies , very nice . We have visited this fabulous pub on a number of occasions now over the past 18 months. Always very friendly and helpful service. Plenty of choice on the menu, plus gluten free choices too. The food is very tasty, very plentiful and very good value for money. Can highly recommend the sweetcorn fritters (gf). Love how they have trivia questions at the dining tables for your amusement whilst you wait. There is an amazing beer garden overlooking the valley for the warmer months. Highly recommended.

What a lovely pub! As soon as we arrived, we were given a warm welcome. The pub has a friendly atmosphere, with lovely staff. The menu options are great, with a specials board too. The food was delicious, perfect portions, served piping hot & freshly cooked. Fantastic value for money, so much nicer than mainstream chain pubs. A real gem of a pub, would thoroughly recommend.

Traditional village pub - something of a throwback to a time when people used to meet in pubs as a social occasion - nothing formal but a welcome opportunity to enjoy a beer and sample the menu. Good choice of local beers on tap and draughts ciders. Menu and specials board choices were excellent value - served to the table piping hot. Very reasonably priced; welcoming staff and faultless service. Reassuring to know there is perhaps a return to what ‘pubs’ should be - fulfilling an essential service - bringing people together for greater social cohesion as well as a welcome break from too many ‘themed’ or ‘chain’ venues. A quintessential English village pub.

As soon as we walked through the door, we were made very welcome. A table was made available for us once Spike had found an additional chair for us. 😀 The order was taken very promptly and the food arrived very quickly. First class curry and gammon followed by a lovely large (!) Knickerbocker Glory. A very good selection of beers, wines and alcohol free drinks. We found this Pub by accident and are so glad that we did. We shall be back very soon. Thank you to all the crew, Spike, Vicki, Hayley and Abi. Keep up the great work.👍👍👍 Best wishes, Janie and David.

From the moment we stepped foot inside the door we knew we were in for a good meal and evening, we were made to feel really welcome like we were locals. It is a local pub with just a few tables but somewhere you can feel comfortable. The food was traditional pub food, no fuss and decent portions but still with quality. The steak was cooked to perfection, the desert I had was over flowing in custard which was great. They have a good selection of beers including local brew from Palmers Brewery. The biggest compliment goes to the young waitress who was exemplary, polite, double checked what we had ordered, good eye contact and actually took an interest in what we said, an absolute credit to this place. I think she was called Abbie 😊 We were going to eat there for a second night but we were still full! We will definitely be back if we are in the area.

Ate here twice during our stay in Kilmington. We had eaten here about a year ago and remembered the service and food to be fabulous and we weren’t disappointed on our return. Hayley gave amazing service throughout and was very welcoming to all the customers we saw there. The choice of dishes was extremely good and there were gluten free choices too. I would go for the gluten free fish cakes on the first visit and corn fritters on the second - both delicious. All our food was generously portioned, very well cooked and tasty. The prices too here are very reasonable. So with the added warm welcome and great service it’s no wonder people come back here. Unfortunately it was a bit too cool for us to sit outside this time as this place has a wonderful beer garden overlooking the hills. Inside though it has a lovely cosy feel without being cramped. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the village for a week, ate here 4 days. Says it all, really. We were given a warm and friendly welcome by Vikki and Spike, and treated as regulars. Having worked my way through the excellent ciders, I tried the Dorset Gold Ale. Spike (I assume) keeps a good cellar. The food was lovely, always piping hot, and served very quickly – the chef does a remarkable job. This is a really lovely pub, always busy with the regulars from the moment it was opening time, which is no surprise at all. Thoroughly recommended.

The warm welcome and the professionalism of the staff were what left a lasting impression on us. Hayley the waitress was exceptional in her greeting and service, the barman was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Honestly, the food did disappoint very slightly, the vegetable soup was not home made, the roll however was of a good quality. The sausage in the sandwich was very good, but the bread not so much. Bearing in mind it was post Christmas, maybe access to fresh ingredients was a problem. The hosting more than compensated

What a fabulous pub, in a lovely little village! We frequented this pub, every day (besides Tuesday, when it was closed) during our weeks stay in Kilmington and was always welcomed with a friendly smile. After a couple of visits we were on first named terms with all the team, and even the locals were chatty and friendly which is really unusual for a local boozer. The pub itself, looks like it should be on the front of a postcard, and the views from the garden are spectacular. Inside is exactly what you’d expect of a traditional country pub, and is super clean. We ate here on our last night, and the food was super scrummy. Piping hot, large portions of home cooked food. What more could you ask for. I wish this was my local pub. I can’t fault a single thing. Thank you for a lovely, hospitable week, me, Carl and Bea (the grumpy Frenchie) hope to return soon. Keep up the amazing work!

For 15 of us including 2 little ones, we can only praise the team for which nothing was too much trouble. Service from Ed & Abi was outstanding, the attentiveness of Spike & delicious food from Vikki & co in the kitchen made for a memorable evening had by everyone, including the very reasonable prices charged for food. Serving the children first, the little name tags on the orders which was genius, the extras offered without being asked was a rariety nowadays & overall showed how 'kindness' & good service can hugely affect the first impressions of a business. We all thoroughly enjoyed Saturday evening. Please keep up the good work & we will happily recommend you to anyone & everyone travelling through the area as 'a gem of a find'

Decided to travel all of 13 miles ! to visit Vikki and Spike who used to run The White lion, Broadwindsor but now run The New Inn. Not surprisingly they have taken their professional attitude combined with their business accumen and wide ranging menu and specials board and made the pub a place to visit and meet the locals with whome they seem to have blended well. I could tell you that the food is upto Vikki's usual high standard and the banter from Spike has not changed ! (still waiting for The Beatles music Spike) But that would be a waste of 2 lines of typing by me and 2 lines of reading by you, whoops make that 3 lines. Along with Skittles and Cribbage over the winter I think the future of The New Inn is assured.

We have visited a few times over the summer including some evening drinks in the pretty beer garden with super countryside views as well an evening meal and a Sunday lunch. The evening meal provided a good choice of hearty pub food. We particularly enjoyed the pie which had been cooked as one large one in a tray and cut up. So tasty! The Sunday lunch was a choice of two roasted meats (as well as a veggie option) which came with proper stuffing, a great choice of vegetables and some good roasties. There were also a couple of other main options other than the roasts. We were so full we couldn't take advantage of one of the deserts which looked good on other tables. Would recommend for a good priced, hearty, home cooked meal with a range of meal choices. Thank you

Traditional village pub with a real heart and soul. New owners took over at the end of last year and oh boy. What a good job they are doing. Very clean and fresh, very well presented, friendly staff, smiling service but most of all a genuine warm welcome by ‘Mine Host’. A group of us had supper on Saturday night and the food was clearly home-cooked with very generous portions and a good selection to cater for every taste, including gluten-free. Selected this pub almost at random as one with a table available on a Saturday night not too far from home. Had a very good meal and overall experience. The setting is great and the dining room looked freshly decorated and very smart. The menu was not too extensive but certainly enough to choose from, and with a good variety. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented by staff who were happy and helpful.A couple of very minor thoughts - the stuffed chicken dish was a little dry and could have done with the addition of more sauce/jus to make it slightly more pleasant to eat, but it was a lovely meal. The sticky toffee pudding seemed to be more of a chocolate pudding with toffee sauce spotted around the plate. Again a lovely dish, just not quite as described. The cheeseboard was superb and overall very good value for a lovely evening with family. We will be back before too long.

We visited here whilst in the area, we booked for the early evening. There are limited parking on the car park but ample on the adjoining roads. They are covid compliant and you can scan the code on entry. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the selection of lagers as I'm not an ale drinker and found the bar area underwhelming, but once we were sat at our table and served by a lovely helpful young lady, I chose the trio of sausage and my wife had the ploughman's following my first impressions I was pleasantly surprised with food, it was good quality, a decent serving and I believe locally sourced. My wife's ploughman was also good and plentiful, however we did leave room for a pudding which was lovely. One comment I would make is the menu was in my opinion limited in general but this could be down to the current restrictions.Overall it was a nice meal, but in my opinion the truckers Arms is a better choice.

Good selection of nice ciders and beers. There's not really anything for children in the garden but that doesn't matter as it's really large for running around and letting off steam and our little boy just wanted to look at the chickens and ducks!

Beautiful pub off the beaten track, friendly and welcoming, amazing chips!!! All the food was delicious. I had the scampi, my partner had the ham and chips with duck eggs - both were so good.

Popped in for sat lunch. 3 starters, all of which we were happy with (2 soups, whitebait). Typical country pub inside & out & sure it is the hub of the community. Staff lovely & welcoming

I took my Dad there for lunch on Sunday, good job i had booked as it was full. And no wonder, it was lovely and cosy on a damp day. I like the fact you can choose from a small, medium or large roast, as...

Lovely traditional dog friendly pub with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We ate here for the first time last night and the food was good value and well cooked. A cracking plate of ham egg and chips for £12! Very pleased that there are gluten free options marked on the menu too!

Good food served in a pleasant garden .... what more could we want. The New Inn is far from new ... its several hundred years old and well worth a visit.

What a great little place , plenty of parking , staff very friendly , and food very fast , didn't even have time to pour my tea and the food arrived . Sunday's is only a roast menu though , Shame as I was looking forward to something else . You could have a starter and a pudding .

Possibly the best Sunday Roast I have ever 'eaten out'. Very well cooked, the beef fell apart. Good vegetarian options and friendly service also. Thank you.

A friendly country pub that serves wonderful food. On our first visit I had the fish pie with fresh vegetables, delicious and all served piping hot, while my husband had fish and chips and said it was the best fish he had ever tasted! He had the same thing on our second visit, while I had the Thai cod fish cakes with a jacket potato - lovely! The staff are friendly and polite and the service excellent. Thoroughly recommended.
