Gone downhill, sadly. This is our third visit, the previous takeaways we’ve bought exceeded our expectations and were worth the extra distance from our home town. Yes, the crudely constructed covid floor to ceiling barriers together with airlock hatches for making payments and receiving food seem a bit disrespectful of their customers when the pandemic is officially over. Also if you are going to be paranoid in 2023 about covid, why do you accept cash only and are happy to touch it and count it? But that is their personal preference and if they provide a good service I will happily pass my (possibly infected) money through the hatch. Sadly the standard on this visit was a 2 star. Everyone has a bad day sometimes, the previous visits would be 5 star rated. The staff I saw weren’t the same this time so perhaps some key personnel were on holiday or the business has been sold on? If I see the lady from before behind the counter again I’ll give it another try, but on the basis of the last visit I couldn’t recommend it.

Ordered a Chinese from here really rude lady took my order. I paid for order she gave me change but no rececipt . The following day I went in with my partner as he wanted something. She said hello darling to me then told my partner I didn’t pay for my order when I did. I have requested to see ctv cameras which her response was the Chinese chef said I hadnt paid she then said he doesn’t speak English. She then asked what would we like to order. Why don’t they give receipt as if I had one I would be able to show them I paid . Why didn’t she respond when I asked for ctv to be checked. How I was spoken to has really upset me . I will never order from their again and not recommend. They only except cash not card .Why is this? And why do they not provide receipts. Avoid or if you decide to go in take a picture on your phone when paying so you can prove you paid when the nasty woman accuses you of not paying!

Well I’ve been getting takeaway food from here for the past year, I never ever thought I’d review a takeaway Chinese in the UK. I’ve traveled extensively throughout China and spent many months, if not cumulative years there. The front of house is hard of hearing and a bit rude but whoever cooks the food is doing a great job, I order different dishes and I’m always surprised by the quality, these are HK people, they love their spice and crunch. Look it’s local takeaway Chinese food but the quality is superb!

Really rude ladt taking order. Gave me wrong order. Portions really small. I thought I'd give them a try as used to go there all the time years ago. Not again. Tim Ley East Grinstead beats them hands down....

Ordered a collection at peak time. Food was cold and had to be reheated at home. Duck was over cooked, dry and tasteless. Noodle dishes and rice all had the same taste, no authenticity in the flavour and boring. Burnt crackers! Overall a very boring meal that filled a hole nothing more, no effort placed on taste or end product pride for customer satisfaction. To top it all we all had stomach ache for 2 days! Look elsewhere

Had a takeaway tonight, 21 Nov 2020. It's not my local Chinese thankfully but wanted to try different takeaways/locations. Really wish I had gone local. Curry was as I asked for, mushrooms instead of veg but the sauce was watery, bland and not a curry sauce. Boring, no kick at all. Chop Suey was also bland, no flavour to the sauce. Brown rice mixed with white, OK but if the rest of the meal was great I could go with brown rice. These are only my views, yours may be different but I will not be going here again.

We have used New Century for a number of years now and have always found the food to be at worst, reasonable. Lately however the quality appears to have gone down hill. I am not sure if they have different chefs working different evenings, as the quality of the food as I said varies quite dramatically. Our last two meals have not been as good as previously, with our last serving being well below what I had come to expect from New Century. In short it was very oily, overcooked, runny and tasteless. There is not a lot more I can say, apart from I was really disappointed with the meal. In short unless I hear locally that standards have Improved, we will sadly not be using them again. A great shame.

Popped in tonight to order for a family of five and absolutely everything we ordered was tasty, fresh, hot and just as described. There is no menu online which is annoying but as the wait is only ever 10 mins you can order at the till and then pop next door for a pint etc if needed. A discreet little place which is a real gem.

The Best undiscovered Chinese around if you're new to the area. Food always excellent. Try the Deep Fried Chilli Beef, will melt in you mouth. Singapore noodles are simply devine. Just make sure you take Cash as this is the only payment option

This Chinese takeaway is a hidden gem, which is why I had to review it! We had all but given up hope of finding a decent Chinese takeaway in the East Grinstead area but tried this as a last ditch attempt. We have now had a few takeaways from here and can honestly say it's the best in the area! Although unassuming from the front, don't be put off as the food is second to none; it has an authentic, fresh taste, it isn't greasy and the meat is of great quality, even the sweet and sour chicken balls (of which the standard of meat is often dubious in some takeaways) contain the highest quality chicken. My co-eater can't get enough of the beef with ginger and spring onion and says it's the best he's ever eaten. Even the complimentary prawn crackers are the best we've ever had, again, crispy, fresh and not greasy. There is a wide selection of appetisers - my recommendations are the vegetable spring rolls and prawn toast - and mains, the Malaysian noodle dish deserves a mention as it is so full of flavour, but be warned it also contains a generous helping of chilli! We now ask for it to be less hot, which is willingly accommodated and reins the heat in just enough! The portions are generous and the service is quick, around a 10-15 minute wait from ordering. The owners are friendly and the food is good value for money. Try it for your next takeaway and you won't be disappointed - order your favourite dishes with confidence! :-)

AVOID AVOID AVOID at all costs!!! We sat down for 25 mins and 3 tables came in after us and was served first we decided to leave and they didn’t even notice, the staff had no clue what they was doing were more interested In talking about the gossip going on down the high street, really wouldn’t waste your time In this place would rather sit at home watching paint dry and starve 👍🏻

Poor Chinese that is overpriced and portions fairly small. Unfortunately only one other option in the area which is just as poor. Oxted residents pay it as may be they do not realise how poor it is compared to other Chinese take always in London and elsewhere . Not going here again. I would recommend you avoid it unless desperate for a Chinese and can’t be bothered to cook a decent meal. Disappointing really

I always enjoy the chinese food from here. Best bbq spare ribs from anywhere that I've had them. Generous amounts of meat/prawns in the dishes that we had. Driver even found the address okay though it isn't the easiest to find in the dark in a poorly lit road where houses have names rather than numbers, and was earlier than the estimated delivery time. Definitely worth the extra money.

A great restaurant. Really cosy and welcoming. Staff are really friendly. Food was great from the start. All in all my new favourite Chinese restaurant!
