Crown & Pepper in Tandridge

I always enjoy the chinese food from here. Best bbq spare ribs from anywhere that I've had them. Generous amounts of meat/prawns in the dishes that we had. Driver even found the address okay though it isn't the easiest to find in the dark in a poorly lit road where houses have names rather than numbers, and was earlier than the estimated delivery time. Definitely worth the extra money.

This resturaunt has the best asian fusion menu in a sit-down resturaunt I have ever eaten. The range of choices, quality of preperation, and especially the signature 'Salt and Chilli' options blow any competition out of the water. Now i'll caveat this as we probably aren't the typical customers here. My family is all vegan, and we have an allergy sufferer in the group, so we are definitely what you'd call "Picky". We all have fairly unusual taste, and like things very very spicy (by british standards). We don't seat at the bar, which seems to be a really big draw, with large groups often in to watch the footy. If anything, for us the fact this place is a busy sports bar is a mark down for atmosphere. It is noisy, and the music can be loud. But when the food comes out? You will not be complaining.

I would normally give 10/10 for Crown and Pepper as the food is lovely and service really good. Unfortunately on this occasion we did not receive “something extra for ordering over £35” and the beef with mushrooms contained no mushrooms!!!!

This is the third time of ordering. My husband absolutely loves the food, but after trying 3 different things, it just leaves me underwhelmed sadly.

Very disappointing with the meal which was delivered. The chicken tikka masala was absolutely inedible, spicy, and so salty that it made us feel nauseous. unfortunately this was the first time trying this place and will now also be the last.

I was very impressed with the driver, he rang me to clarify my address and arrived within 15 mins. The food was great, very happy with the service!

The food is amazing the staff very friendly and extremely efficient can not fault the waiting staff had a smile on the faces and were run of their feet , our only criticism is that we found out the waiting don't get paid any of the service charge , to the manager you need to rectif

Always delicious food. I always enjoy the bbq spare ribs. Very meaty and chunky compared to what is served in other places. Impressive to have full size prawns in the special fried rice too. Order was ready for collection right to the minute as well.

Food was absolutely terrible yesterday. Use to like going to crown and pepper but this has put me off. Potions recieved on the takeaway were half containers and overcooked and dry. The food was recooked and horrible. Will not be going back.

Chicken Fried Rice was yum, not too salty with good amount of chicken and egg. The BBQ Chicken Nuggets were really naughty, so good, I wanted more, I should have ordered more! The food turned up nice and hot, I will definitely be ordering that again.

Great food, the best Chicken Methi Curry, goes down well with one of their cocktails. Definitely worth a visit. I'll certainly be going back.

First night out as a group of mums. Whole staff team were extremely friendly, couldn’t do more for us and food was brilliant. Really comfortable vibes for a nice evening out. Will definitely be back.

Food was okay. The service staff were nice. However, I asked if they could accomodate for a paneer tikka roll .. they said no. We asked for some butter for the Tandoori Roti.. and were refused. The reason was it was strict policy not to make any changes from the menu. A small adjustment like this could have been made, especially when they offer roti with butter. I think it's shame that this small request could not be accommodated. Just seemed a bit unnecessary.

Bit disappointed tonight. The duck was cold, the pancakes were rock hard like crisps. The onion Bharji’s were horrid, more like pakoras and very over cooked and tough. Barely any salad to go with the cold duck as well. It’s only a bit of cucumber and spring onion after all and at a cost of £15.45 a portion not impressed with it at all.

Food is not at all good. The sauces are a nightmare. Not ever again.

I ordered from here off of deliveroo and it is probably some of the worst food I’ve ever had in my life. I ordered the tandoori prawns, vegetable biryani and fried okra. The only thing that was even remotely edible in this order were the prawns, other than that, everything else tasted awful. I can’t even describe how bad this food tasted, I literally felt nauseous after eating it and I literally could not finish it at all, It tasted sickly. They should be taken off of deliveroo

Always on time and great tasting

Fantastic food and service nice bar and lounge area have had takeaway and eaten multiple times with the restaurant and have not got a single bad word to say food is very tasty portions are good and I have never been left hungry, staff are always attentive and more than willing to help and always smiling. If you like Indian and you like Chinese or you just want a place to drink this is your place.

Great place to eat with the family. We had ages ranging from 6 to 73 and everything in between. Huge choice on the menu meant everyone found something they liked. The food was delicious, hot and portions were very generous. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and reasonable priced drinks. Will certainly be recommending to friends and hope to be visiting again soon.

I haven't ordered from Crown and Pepper for a while, but like the fact they do a mix of cuisines and I really fancied a few bits. My order arrived 15 mins early and was piping hot. The delivery driver was a polite and friendly bloke. The food was tasty, I still have leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

Went with a big gang for lunch... amazing place to watch matches and have good Indian food. I liked the service by staff who looked after us. Considering we had kids and adults, they did a good job of keeping all happy.

I went with a friend and two babies for lunch. The chicken wrap was stale, dry and generally unpleasant. What was more unpleasant was the bald man who works behind the bar. A friend of mine forgot to pick up their child’s nappy bag and the man berated her, giving us filthy looks and shaking his head. It was completely unnecessary behaviour and not how you treat people, let alone paying customers! I will be formally complaining.

Been here a few times for drinks . It's a big place with comfortable and spacious seating . Very clean restaurant and toilets . Been twice now for lunch . Fabulous deal . £15 for two . I totally recommend the paneer curry and the amazing paneer wrap it was so lovely with a fiery dip on the side . Staff here are lovely too

Visited February 10th for quick bite before night out. Ordered drinks at the bar and enquired about food, the guy who served us was very helpful and friendly, invited us to take a table and brought the drinks over. We ordered some Chinese bits off the excellent menu. Food was fantastic, the service was impeccable.. Would highly recommend this as a place to go, great atmosphere, brilliant all round.. 10 out of 10...

Fast delivery, friendly driver and generous portions. Disappointed by food: chips soggy, tempura was the strangest I’ve ever eaten, soggy, everything stuck together and tasted the same. Chilli mushrooms, soggy and lack of flavour. And what for us what was always the crown of this establishment, the black bean sauce dishes, not quite the same quality as before. All in all an expensive takeaway for what you get.

I live in oxted and ordered twice in one week, the food is full of flavour and is hot on arrival, sometimes I am sceptical about places that offer both Indian and Chinese but crown and pepper are the best, only thing I would like to see added to there menu would be a option of soups however there are plenty of other options

Food was excellent, we had mainly the Indo Chinese dishes. Portions are a good size. Service was good. Atmosphere a little more pub like than restaurant, so if there is a football match on can get a little noisy.

Wasn’t usually quality. Chicken chow mien was very chewy, couldn’t eat it. Sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice was good.

I love the Salt and Pepper King prawns. You get 8 big prawns, cooked in a light batter and tasty seasoning. The pub downstairs is laid out so there's lots of room for being with your friends.

Crispy Bhajya we’re not fresh but re fried and so hard and tasteless. Salt and pepper tofu is apparently vegan but serving staff initially said that we t can’t make it Vegan.! Drinks are watered down it seems. Have been to Crown of Mitcham with similar menu and excellent food there.

They were over a hour late even though I ordered 2 hours before in advance for that time, I had to call multiple times which they kept not answering, they kept saying 30mn, and turns out they didn’t send it till 30mn before I received it, very bad customer service, I would have ordered elsewhere if they had been honest that I’d have to wait this long.

I still haven't got my food and it has been 2 hours since I ordered.

Absolutely appalling. Ordered at 6.20pm, it’s now nearly 9pm and still no delivery and no updates. Absolutely will not be ordering anything again from this place. An estimated arrival gives a little leeway, of course not a problem, however, it doesn’t give carte Blanche to turn up whenever you like. Stop taking orders if you can’t produce and deliver close to the estimate!

I should have cooked, food was cold. I guess waiting so long won’t be ordering again.

The food was very disappointing. The duck was more greasy than crispy, the chow main had no flavour and the sweet and sour chicken was chewy. We were very disappointed as we have eaten in the pub and the food was of good quality. I would not have ordered had i known the quality of the food would be that bad and it ended up being an expensive takeaway.

Best Chinese on the area but very expensive

It was a poor experience. The pub sells a variety of Asian cuisine and limited British favs. I asked for a ginger beer, but they didn't know what one was. When I got a ginger ale they overcharged. I asked if they did sweet potatoes and they just looked confused. I tried to pay and they couldn't find my order. When I did pay there was a service charge. The only service I got that was exemplary was security holding the door for me to go. Sadly I felt this pub was poor in service and misunderstood much of what I tried to say. They did not try to resolve the issue but looked at me as if I was mad. I probably was.

Actually obsessed with this little place! I’ve never seen somewhere perfectly combine two cuisines as well as this place does! The food itself is fantastic - great portions and packed with flavour! The staff are very pleasant and the premises is kept very clean and tidy - 100% a hidden gem!

Lovely food and great selection of drinks. If you want Chinese or indian or even both, this is the place to go. Lamb chops and Chili chicken are a must!

Chilli chicken is top notch! The special fried rice was great too! Highly recommend the lamb chops as well No complaints here!

Delivery was 30 mins late and the food was average to say the least. A lot of the food was soggy and just not satisfying. Definitely not worth £65.

Order at 6pm for my food to arrive at 7:30pm. Here we are one hour later at 8:30pm and it still hasn't arrived. No one answering the phone. No idea where the food is, but the restaurant was more than happy to take my £65. Don't think I will be ordering again. Very disappointing

Ordered food at 7pm, was informed it would be delivered between 7.50pm and 8.10pm. Good didn't arrive until 8.50pm, 40 minutes late. Called up and they just said sorry, they were busy. No offer of a goodwill gesture etc, or anything like that. Have used them for many years, but will go to Kerala who are super at dealing with customers when they've not lived up to expectations.

We ordered a Chinese from the Crown & Pepper. The delivery was on time and the food was hot. The meal was absolutely delicious and one of the nicest Chinese meals we have had in ages. We will definitely be ordering again and would recommend!

This place is great for a night out with family and friends. Cocktails are really good and the prices are reasonable.

The worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Food arrived cold, soggy and smelled foul, clearly not fresh.

Visited 11 Nov 2023, the place was not busy at all. Full of teenagers binge drinking due to the happy hour. However that did not bother me, the food was really tasteless. Used to visit this place a lot in the past, however the last time I visited was 2 yrs ago. The Indian chef has clearly changed as the mix grill was served on a plate instead of a sizzler , which is really how you DO NOT serve it. Food was a huge disappointment. Won’t be back again unfortunately.

Its gone down hill from last time we order

I went here with some friends on the 6th of November 23, the place is very large with plenty of seating, there is also I slightly raised area with more seating room, the toilets are located upstairs and were very clean and tidy, the pub is located on the Godstone Road in Caterham and has good local transport connections, bus and train are only a couple of minutes walk away, so onto the food, to start I had chilli paneer, now this was very nice and I thoroughly recommend it, but be warned it is hot, there was plenty of it too, for my main I had the mutta mushroom masala, this was also very tasty, the girl that served us was very friendly but her male colleague gave the impression he’d much rather be somewhere else but all in all a pleasant visit, another note of caution, I understand it can be a little rowdy on a Friday afternoon/early evening.

Delivered 30 mins late, even though app said it had been delivered. Luke warm when it arrived (assume due to the length of time it took to be delivered). Phoned crown and pepper but they told us to speak to just eat.
