Ridiculously terrible, boyfriend had a hair in food, there was no flavour whatsoever don’t know how the place hasn’t been shut down🤣 Do not recommend

I've been a customer of New Balti King for the last 8 years, since I first moved to Bristol. As it's right around the corner from me, the convenience is certainly a factor, but I can say, with all honesty, I have never once had a bad experience there. The staff are always friendly, the food is excellent, and the prices even manage to stay a little below the average around the local area. Their restaurant, which opened since I've been living here, has become a semi-regular go-to for close friends, and we've been welcomed warmly there with open arms every time. I cannot recommend them enough.

I ordered my food at 17;50 and am still waiting right now for it to be delivered. I’ve had no voluntary communication from the restaurant and I’ve rang twice over the last hour for updates, only to be told it’s already left and on its way. Absolutely disgraceful! I’ve explained that of the food has been on the move for the last 45 minutes I don’t want any of it! It’s not safe to eat! Only to have the phone put down on me. Will never order again, awful behaviour from customer service. Extremely irritated.

quite a surreal experience at first. no one around when i entered, and quite a while for anyone to appear after i tapped the bell. someone eventually greeted me and led me to a table in a dimly lit room. i asked about parking, they told me to go to the shop nextdoor to enter my number plate, so i did. i return to my table, and asked if I'm ready to place my order. they go to the back, turn on some proper lighting, then take my order. there's no alcohol on the menu, so i again go to the nextdoor shop for a beer. i get back and ask for a pint glass, pointing to the ones behind the counter. a confused gentleman looks at me, then the glasses, back to me, and goes to get someone else. the new person passes me a pint glass. it's not clean, so i ask for a clean one. i get back one still wet from being washed. my food comes out, much sooner than i expected. it is DELICIOUS! some of the best Madras, vindaloo, and keema rice, I've ever enjoyed.

Was visiting the area due to work from the north. The food was fresh and tasty. Authentic balti dishes. The Chappatis were like home made ones. Generous portion sizes. Fast service. Really nice!

Laughably bad service in this restaurant. Got told we didn’t order enough and we had a difference of opinion over this being rude. After I decided to leave and pay for the popadoms we’d had the same waiter tried to make me pay a service charge. Couldn’t comment on the food as we left so promptly, but just one other table in the restaurant probably says it all. So many other good curry houses in the area, can’t see why this is still open.

Ordered through uber eats on a Thursday evening - took 2 hours for our food to arrive. And when it did it was mainly cold. I Was hoping they would make up for it with the taste of the food, however the butter chicken was the most plain tasting I have ever had from any Indian I've had, Hardly had any flavour at all and loads of oil floating on top the dish. Will not be ordering from new balti king again..

Amazing food best chicken korma I've tasted the coconut rice was lovely . There was 5 of us that had a meal.great service lovely staff . Definitely go there again. We got there at 5.30 pm so just opened so we were the only ones there but couldn't fault anythink. If you see this Indian restaurant don't walk by book yourself a table you won't regret it so worth the money. Everythink fresh and cooked to perfection.

Such a shame that this regularly used and previously highly recommend to family and friends takeaway has gone downhill. Have recently found the food to be sub standard, luke warm when delivered and items missing or incorrect, last order the wrong curry delivered, this time no rice with the curry, promised to deliver within 10 minutes, did not arrive, no refund offered, ended up having to boil rice! and re heat curry a disappointing £40 takeaway! Think we will be searching for a new curry house for our deliveries from now on!

Will not order from this place again. Ordered a delivery, was told wait would be an hour. Have waited an hour and 15 minutes. Phoned up to see where are food is and was told another 15 minutes which will make it 90 minuted........ we are still waiting

A nice and friendly Indian restaurant. The food is good and it is a fair price. The only thing against it is you have to bring your own alcohol. But there's an off-licence right next door.

My first order was a gamble as always used another restaurant. What can i say but few orders later I am now working my way through their varied menu and have to say every single dish I have had so far has been excellent!! Fresh, full of distingished flavours. Unlike some local curry houses where every dish tastes the same. Prompt on time delivery from very freindly and happy delivery guy. This has now become my go to indian for a amazing indian food. Highly reccomended

100% best curry have recently, the selection keeps on going. There is everything on the menu for anyone. Poppadoms will stay dry for days the oil is dried out of them after cooking. The currys say what they are were others extra hot means its fairly hot. delivery is always on time or before. never had a fault at all highly rated. I re use the sauce left over for work and all my colleagues love it. Cant fault it for the price, the service, the quality in cooking and delivery!

Had a very bad experience in this restaurant. From the beginning till the end. The owner took a picture of my car for no reason. Then he checked our bags without our permission saying that we cannot bring soft drinks inside the restaurant. It says its an Indian restaurant but the food was not spicy enough. The waiter was sooo rude to us. The whole restaurant was empty till we finished our dinner. Whatever we ask the waiter said its not there. Ketchup - no, glass - no. Was waiting to leave the restaurant. Half cooked food. In India they don’t serve half cooked food in Indian restaurants. They kept playing one hindi song for 30-40 times. Totally dissatisfied and would not recommend to anyone.

Restaurant completely empty, sat at a dirty table, not asked if i wanted a drink, not asked if I wanted any poppadoms to start and nobody came to take my order. Walked out and went to Thikanaa up the road which was absolutely amazing.

The food at this takeaway has to be the best in the area as always taste superb and fresh with generous portions given too , price also best in area ! Its also the only place that i dont suffer heartburn after eating a curry , highly recommend as was from others !

The headline of this review should be taken as the quality and taste of the food were excellent. After many years of always using the same Indian restaurant for our Justeat curries, I decided to try somewhere different, so I opted to try the New Balti King and thank goodness for that. The menu looked interesting straight away, with fair descriptors and was moderately priced. Our food arrived on time, and here is the only negative of the review, the presentation of the food was not good. BUT that being said it was an excellent range of tastes with good quality ingredients that had been subtly and expertly spiced together. So thank you New Balti King for a great meal, and we will certainly be back very, very soon

Great curry. Been coming here for the last couple of years, well seasoned, well priced and well cooked. Curries are nicely spiced and have a well balanced flavour, onion salad is fresh, rice cooked well. Well worth a trip to Southmead for this gem of a curry house. Always a great meal.

The stuff were friendly but the restaurant was so cold even we have had the spicy curries. Non of us couldn’t take our winter jackets off in the restaurant.

Ordered for delivery. Arrived quickly boiling hot literally the best curry I've eaten in all my life. Prawn jalfrezi with Garlic rice. Pompodoms and pickle tray. Loads of prawns, rice was superb. Have had many curries from Balti King and I am always very happy. Nice big portions.

Ordered lots of times from New Balti king, tasty food at a reasonable price, Guy who delivers always polite.

Arrives quickly and hot. Order itself has been hit and Miss, missing a part of the order or a curry being wrong, taste is good but the quality could be better. Masala curries have been nice, but a few other types of curries have been mainly oil so had to drain them off first.

Ordered from here Saturday when it came it was all spilt in the bag took me ages to wipe it off and when it came to eat it it was cold Ordered again this evening and it was amazing the time the delivery the food was piping hot really tasty onion bhajis well mmm mmm mmmm very nice thank you new balti king my favourite from now on

I have been ordering from this takeaway for 15 years I placed a telephone order including two curries , two rice and two nans , asked to pay online and payed the price quoted , on delivery realises we only had one curry phoned the takeaway and a replacement curry was delivered after I showed what I had received felt like they were causing me of lying and trying to receive a free curry after showing my curry I ordered I was told I could keep it !! I had paid for it , they left the other curry I had ordered then called a few minutes later demanding I pay for the another £ 7.00 when the mistake was there’s and we had to eat separately, terrible service they have certainly lost my custom , shame because the curries are tasty

Superb curry .... I went for the chef's speciality tandoori chicken and garlic curry with a mushroom rice which I requested have green chillies cooked in with the rice, highly recommended. Huge portions too 😋 and plenty of chicken.

Had a biryani last night, I can honestly say this was the best one I have had for many years, complements to the chef. The texture of the rice to the overall flavour was outstanding.

Stopped here tonight..Will definitely be coming back. Could not fault any of our food. The Naan bread was the best we have had.. so light and buttery.Staff were all helpful and to top it off you can bring your own drink. We have found a new favourite

I’ve been visiting this place for a long time, considering the atmosphere is a bit dark, which is preferable to enjoy spicy authentic food with booze, don’t forget to take your own! I believe a bit brighter and modern atmosphere would make the place more cozy and welcoming! Must visit!

I lately visited New Balti King with my friends few days ago, the food was absolutely brilliant. The starters where fresh and juicy like the chicken tikka and onion bhaji. Main course was mouth watering as well, which included Tandoori Garlic chili chicken and Lamb tikka Masala along with Garlic rice and Peshawari Naan. Beautiful soothing environment to dine in and very friendly staff at New Balti King. Absolutely recommend it 👌

I totally recommend this restaurant as it has been the best I’ve had in a long time. As I’m from East Asian background I can generally notice the difference in food. The chicken was nicely marinated and really succulent. Also another favourite was the garlic Nan , biriyani and tarka dal. I will most certainly be returning there. Great food and value for money. Staff were also attentive.

New balti is one of the best takeaway in town. I tried chicken tikka biriany and tandori garlic chilli chicken was amazing taste. Well recommended to this place in southmead.

Ordered a take away from here on 24/3/22 they delivered wrong food an hour later, another half an hour later bought food which was freezing cold they refused to refund an food not edible, disgusting service! Will not be buying from them again!!

The whole family enjoys the food from New Balti King, portions are generous and flavours are great. And a good choice on the menu for vegetarians too.

Don't order through ubereats. Food never arrived. Rang up twice, they said next time order directly through them. They purposely didn't provide my food because a I used a 30% off voucher through ubereats.

Great food and service. Food is very tasty and portions are generous. There is a lot of variety to choose from. Will come back again for sure.

We always enjoy the food from here but it's very frustrating when you call to order and the person doesn't understand or speak English well. It's embarrassing for the person trying to do their job and slows the service down. It took us 10 minutes to order food and pay for it over the phone. Everyone needs to start somewhere with learning a language and all credit here but please...have people who are competent at understanding and speaking English

Just returned from a lovely family gathering and celebration. 1st time here and we all enjoyed a pleasant clean, comfortable atmosphere. The service was polite and the food was extremely tasty and well presented. Almost all the plates were empty and containers provided to take home what we couldn't manage to eat. Glasses and corkscrews were provided free of charge for the wine We brought with us. The prices are very fair and good value. Every order was cooked perfectly. For a nice experience with great food that doesn't have to cost a fortune, you really should give this place a try. Perfect for group bookings or just a cozy couple. Also free parking available. Went for a spontaneous meal with my mum tonight, the new balti king service was lovely! staff were very polite and helpful, food was great didn’t take long to come at all! Will defo return!

I just needed a takeout for dinner after a long 7 hour drive. The staff were welcoming as I came in and made my order for a Balti Saag Aloo and boiled rice. As I don’t carry cash nowadays because of you know what, I made sure that they accepted cards before I made the order. Only after that did they say that there was a £10 minimum on cards, which annoyed me because 1) that’s a high minimum and 2) they wanted an extra 50p for card charge. At this point, I just needed food and paid the surcharge. The food was good. Not so spicy that it actually tasted of spinach and potatoes. The portions were generous and I was full before finishing everything.

Gave me a dirty look when I said I only wanted onion salad and mint sauce instead of a whole pickle tray. This was just the start. Food didn't take long, but when my Cheese Naan came it was CHEESE SLICES in the Naan bread, I was pretty disgusted and didn't eat it. The guy refused to take it off my bill, even though I didn't touch it and I argued it should either be cheddar/mozzarella or at least paneer, he said they'd ran out of cheese and that's why it was cheese slices. Jesus either take it off the menu or go to Lidl literally opposite the restaurant across the road, YOU DO NOT USE CHEESE SLICES as a substitute. Vile. I'm sure I will laugh about this is future, but how unprofessional of a restaurant. The food wasn't that great overall with the lamb being mostly fatty pieces in the curry.
