Quite recently, under new management and it has been refurbished. Fish and Chips are very nice 👍 I have been in a few times. Friendly staff.

Better than previous owners but we live two minutes drive away and when fish and chips arrived they were lukewarm so I couldn’t make a good review, I will try again later but the dish looked good

Guy behind counter was rude,seemed drunk. smashed a bulb in the hot cabinet in front of me as he was changing it and then tried to serve me some fish from the same cabinet.walked out.

Food taste good but I think money wise is not worth it. Its a rather expensive place for fish n chips at least for me.

Delighted to say how happy we were with our fish and chips from Netherton chippy. The fish was cooked to order and the chips were lovely and light. Good portions at a reasonable price. We'll definitely be back!

Went today at 1pm to buy for me and 1 child, we bought 1 x small fish butty with curry sauce, and 1 x fish and chip butty with curry sauce and a can of Pepsi, the cost was £14.48. Don't get me wrong, the food was hot, fresh and delicious, but for what was essentially 2 very small lunchtime sandwiches, they weren't worth the price. I'd expect to pay between £5 and £7 for a large fish and chips with sauce, not a small teacake. These prices are what will make the small village chippy a "treat" or a one off, now and again, rather than a weekly or regular Friday night meal.

Really lovely fish and chips; best round Honley. New owners so don't read too much into 2019 reviews. There is a wait as made to order but it's worth it!

Please ignore any reviews from 2019. This is under new management and there is a massive improvement in the quality of the food. Made to order but worth the wait.

If you've been to this fish and chip shop a while ago and didn't enjoy the food, I urge you to give it another try, new owners have turned the place around and The fish and chips are lovely, the new owners are a breathe of fresh air. All food is cooked fresh so if your wanting fish thats been sat warming for an hour don't go.

Visited the area for Beaumont park while on our way we got really hungry and Google fish and chips nearby ,so we found this .Im so glad I give it a go and I must say the best one we ever had freshly made and kids love it so much .The lady is very friendly I think I give her number 1 customer service she’s so nice . Just had our second lot of fish and chips and can honestly say they are delicious! Freshly cooked to order in no time at all and definitely worth the wait! #NEW OWNERSHIP# Wow! They have blown it out of the water, honestly one of the best fish and chips I've had. The new owners are lovely, much better than that ***** that owned it before.

Tried them a few times since moving into the area. First time they were great - well cooked and tasted lovely. Sadly, that's a rare outcome. Every order since has been cooked in dirty oil (full of black bits), soggy undercooked batter (because they pre-cook the fish before battering it), and chips have been cold. Whilst waiting a couple of times I've seen customers return food due to it being undercooked and items missing. Staff don't care. Returned mine today, got told I didn't understand how they cook their batter. So it's supposed to be soggy and dripping in oil - avoid.

The service is really slow, there were multiple people on the other side of the counter and only one serving, It took about 25 minutes to receive my order. The chips were under cooked and the fish really thin. The portions are generous but the quality needs to improve. Probably wont return.

Under new ownership and it’s not at all like it was. 40 minute wait when there was no queue and then once home we found a long black hair in the chips and we’re all blonde so definitely not from us. The whole meal went in the bin. Avoid. No phone number to contact manager and we weren’t driving back

Thought id give if a try...ordered fish and chips with lots of bits Mountains of dry over crispy chips a really small thin over cooked dry piece of fish...not the best for a new venture

Not good at all saw one worker wipe her nose with the back of her hand and another worker fumble, break and semi catch a fish going to a customer and still served it after it being caught between her arm and chest. Food itself was greasy and full f black bits from not cleaning correctly. Never going back!

New owners, thought we'd try it again. The fish was lovely and the chips could have been but were cut too thick. You could see where they should have been cut and hadn't been.

Found myself in this part of Yorkshire looking for a decent chippy!! Looked on here and found this great place. Lovely fish nice and fresh snow white just as it should be. And chips cooked properly. Everything cooked to order which is well worth the wait in my opinion. Great chip shop using beef dripping for that wonderful flavour as it used to be!! Well worth a visit, and great prices as well!! We use this fish and chip shop every week. Consistently great quality,cooked to order starting as soon as you enter and order. Cheerful friendly staff.Good value. Haven't found anywhere better as we tour in our caravan to a number of different places each year. I hope that any new owner when the business is sold manages to maintain the same quality.

Ordered a large fish and what I got was three pieces of small fish which were mostly batter,no wonder the business is up for sale

I thought that I had found the best fish and chips at Rick Stein's in Padstowe , little did I know that I had actually got better ! in my own village .

Staying for a week or so nearby, I wandered off up to The Netherton Chippie because it was highly rated on Trip Advisor and I had noted when passing by that it has a five star food hygiene certificate. I am greeted with a beaming smile from a lady standing behind the counter. “Hello love”. “Oh, hello... two large portions of fish and chips please; one with salt and vinegar and one without”. An eyebrow twitches; “One we’out salt and vinegar?” I confirmed the order. “Ok love, two large fish wi’ chips. That’ll be nine pounds ninety eight... and ready in six minutes”. She has the good grace to laugh when I say “that’s cheap as chips compared with down south” and I sit down at a spotless table to wait. The proprietor and head cook of the establishment appears from somewhere out the back. He knows the other customer who is waiting and very quickly they fall to talking about the finer points of Huddersfield Town’s magnificent 2-1 win over Manchester United last Saturday and exchanging superlatives about the great crunching tacklers they remember from yesteryear; “Eee... Souness, now there was a man who knew ‘ow to take a man off at tut knees and get away wi’ it”. The other customers order is served and he departs. My order appears at the counter and the assistant shouts across to me; “”D’ya want bits wi’ it love?” [Thankfully I know about “bits”. They are a local delicacy... bits of batter cast adrift in the fat fryer that are fished out and stored in a hot box on the counter ready to be devoured by those who don’t worry about calories]. I stand up, say “No thanks” and walk over to the counter where a ritualised wrapping exercise involving fish, chips, salt, vinegar and many large sheets of white paper is taking place. The proprietor looks up; “salt and vinegar?” The assistant looks at him; “No, I told ye’, there’s nowt on that one”. The proprietor looks dumbfounded; “Nowt?” “No, nowt...” He shrugs in an ‘only a southern softie would order fish and chips we out salt and vinegar’ sort of way and quickly encases my meal in several sheets of white paper. Inside the parcel was one of the tastiest and most beautifully cooked servings of take away fish and chips that I have ever, ever eaten. Anywhere, ever. I hope the good folk of Netherton realise how incredibly fortunate they are to have an establishment as good as this one reet on’t doorstep.

I went in the chippy today and the bloke who was cookin the fish (think it was the owner) was really horrible to the woman who was serving, me and my friend felt really sorry for her as i herd her say it was her 2nd week on the job. She was really trying her best taking the orders etc and the bloke just kept bi littleing her, i wint be going here again for that reason !!!!

Huge portions, really fresh, crispy batter and the best chips. Cooked in beef dripping I believe. Worth a drive to get there.

Crisp battered well cooked fish, always fried to order. Good peas and great chips. Brian and his staff are always happy and friendly, you might get a taster portion of chips while you wait if you are lucky. Quality Fish and Chips every time.

We are now local but used to travel from Fixby for these f&c;!! Fabulous welcome, always freshly cooked, generous portions, children made so welcome! My daughters love coming down! Given a couple of chips and a fork every visit whilst we wait. Keep it up, we love it!!

Yes I echo the other comments ..good quality but the portion was oh so small- and this was a large! The food was very nice but this just wasn't enough for a portion.

Only one word describes this chippy EXCELLENT orders taken when you arrive everything cooked fresh and to perfection.I have loads of chippys near by, it's a must to go out of your way to visit the best one.

The idea of fish and chips is often better than the reality but not so from this chippy. Our small fish and chips was hot, crispy, cheap, very tasty and fresh, we very much enjoyed this rare treat. I would highly suggest you give them a try, I am certain you won't be disappointed . Super clean, friendly staff and jolly owner made it a pleasure to wait 5 mins while our supper was cooked fresh. Very pleased and very full!

I have had fish and chips here several times. I like the fact that they are fried in beef drip. The staff are very friendly. I would recommend ordering the large fish, as this is always fried fresh. The chips have always been excellent, for some maybe a little well done, but I really like their chips, fairly large, slightly crispy and golden on the outside but soft inside, perfect. The large fish are a good size, but the batter is a little too thick for my taste, I would prefer it a little thinner, but it is good all the same. Mushy peas are great. £10 for two large fish and chips with mushy peas, perfect for tea, especially when they are hot and fresh. I hope they are a successful business as it is nice having a chippy in the village at last.
