Oído cosas buenas acerca de manzana. Así que decidimos ir allí en una noche húmeda martes. Nos calentábamos con un delicioso saludo del director, que era muy agradable y servicial. El interior está muy bien diseñado con un gran jardín en la parte trasera, con asientos cómodos y calefacción (que es muy bienvenida durante los cálidos veranos lúgubre! Comenzamos la noche) con un par de cócteles que eran deliciosas. Pronto se trasladó a la lista de vinos que es realmente única en Brighton, tienen unos vinos sorprendentes que son verdaderamente únicas, el Albariño era frescas, limpias y muy bien de precio! La comida también era delicioso, tuvimos unos entrantes que compartimos. . Restos carbonizados, vieiras. pulpo y croquetas. La mayoría de nosotros fuimos el bistec Flat Iron para nuestros platos principales que fue cocinado a la perfección y muy sabroso. En general, sin duda recomendaría cuadra. como beber y local. El servicio que recibimos fue excelente, el lugar es precioso, los vinos y la comida son deliciosos. Ir a manzana! ! !

Llegamos a la cuadra ya que ha cambiado de nombre. El jardín nos sentimos muy europeo/bar club de playa, las bebidas estaban bien ser. Pedimos patatas fritas por 3 libras. 50, tardó más de media hora de espera, llegaron unos 10 fichas luego literalmente fuera enorme estafa demasiado cocido. Es una pena porque sabes una patata sin unos 5 p, así que está teniendo el mick un poco. Aparte de que un jardín bien si disfrutar de una Sesión de club domingo

Me fui con un gran grupo de ish (10 personas) en una tranquila viernes a mediodía. Yo estaba emocionado de ver lo que habían hecho con el rediseño (el establecimiento era conocido como el barrio).

Absolutely loved it in here. Fantastic atmosphere and the food and drink were amazing too. But the BEST part is the garden! Hidden out the back, a little paradise sun trap! Perfect for a lazy summer day!

Estado aquí un par de veces desde su cambió su nombre a la manzana. Nos sentamos en el jardín, que es casi de amueblar exuberante. Asientos cómodos y muy bien hecho.

Después de estar cerrado por reformas durante los últimos 3 meses, Manzana (anteriormente conocida como barrio) está ahora abierta.

Fui a Brighton un sábado soleado para disfrutar del sol y el ambiente costero, después de caminar decidí encontrar un lugar agradable para comer, la mayoría de los restaurantes estaban completos, pero logré conseguir una mesa para mí y mi amigo en el bar del vecindario, el personal fue muy educado y servicial, elegí vieiras como entrante y hamburguesa como principal, las vieiras con salsa de vino era delicioso, solo dos piezas pero muy sabroso, la hamburguesa también era muy sabrosa, no viene con ketchup , la porción no es enorme, pero sí lo suficiente para que pueda disfrutar del sabor, la carne estaba bien condimentada, viene con papas fritas, son muy delgadas, probablemente prefieras los trozos, pero realmente me gustó mi comida. El único y pequeño inconveniente fue que la máquina de tarjetas estaba rota, pero no arruinó mi visita al lugar.

I love the decor here, so quirky and fits perfectly in Brighton. Often come to this place with friends for a catch up. The garden is great!

We stopped by for a light dinner and a couple of drinks during our two-night stay in Brighton and we stepped into a great atmosphere with a service to match. The only disappointment was that the specialty menu of gin cocktails was not available as the ingredients - with the exception of gin - were not on hand. I settled for a cup of tea instead! The three of us choose the chicken skewers and were totally delighted by the quality and taste of the meal.

Popped into the Neighbourhood Bar for something to eat and drink on a weekday night.Wished I hadn't and spent my money elsewhere as it would have gone further.Sat down and looked at the menu and noted some tasty burgers to try. To my shock, the menu was priced at £10 per burger.....without chips! WOW! This is Kemp Town, not London City! I thought the burgers must be big and succulent at that price....unfortunately not. The burger were quite average in size, the Brioche Bun was nearly double the size of the actual burger - more bun than burger.The chips I had ordered were under cooked as well - paying £4 for some fries in a cup you would expect them to cooked! I personally think pricing a burger at £10 is setting the pricing bar too high and diners expectations will be high to meet that price.

Popped in here because it was just round the corner from the B&B I was staying in with my partner. It's a pretty cool little place. Ordered the Halloumi and red pepper burger and the Salmon and Sriracha burger - the food was amazing - really tasty. Would definitely go back! The only thing to be aware of is currently the bar doesn't take card, so take some cash in with you.

The new garden looks brilliant! One of the best looking bars in Brighton! Best garden for sure! This place is something special in Brighton and I've never seen anything like it before else where!

Theres no other place like Neighbourhood in Brighton, it has a massive roofed heated garden! Everyone usually comes on here to make a fuss but I just wanted to say that I'll be going here for 'New Years Eve 2017 Brighton'! Really is a feast for the eyes, ears and mouth! Can't go wrong! One of Brightons best kept secrets in St James Street, Kemp Town. It's number 101 btw. I've been back here a number times now so just wanted to show the love! lol

Stoped here for my birthday tea with friends. Absolutely lovely food, freshly cooked, found some dishes could have been larger but everything was excellent.

It can be a little hit and miss with Neighbourhood, both in terms of food and service. On the whole, they have a goodThing going. Maybe I'm throwing back to the days of the grumpy foul mouthed chef who could be heard cursing throughout the bar and garden, or perhaps parts of an order not being received. Regardless, this last visit seems to have resolved the aforementioned, with a revamp of the menu and no grumpy chef. The burgers are tasty and full of flavour, there's quite a selection of spirits and alcohol. My only gripe now being that they still don't accept card, Strange being a cash only venue considering how easy it is to introduce these days.

Went for breakfast on a Sunday, had a bit of a wait as the young girl was on her own due to a member of staff not turning up, so taking orders, drinks etc alone, also a large table had just ordered, with a small kitchen and I think one Chef working. I thought that the breakfast would arrive rushed and thrown together to keep up with the orders coming in, we ordered Eggs Royale, hood breakfast and vegetarian breakfast... All excellent, so well done to Marcin (I think the girl called him) your Eggs Royale were amazing. This is a quirky little bar/ eatery with good food and a large outdoor space at the back, will be back to try dinner and area outback in summer.

Just wanted to say thank you to Ben and the team at Neighbourhood Bar for providing an exceptionally warm welcome to all the guests for my wife's surprise birthday. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at Neighbourhood, who made a summer's day party go off with a bang in the glorious 'Ibiza villa' styled garden.Food was great and service even better!

Stopped in for a burger and a brew, wife had nice glass of wine and appetizer. Service was a touch slow, but our waitress was most pleasant and gave us some suggestions for places to visit and see during our stay in Brighton.

I had lunch in the garden on a sunny day and ordered the Alabama burger. The flavours were excellent, a different yet succulent white creamy sauce with tasty monteray jack cheese. There were also crispy bits of potato in it for the crunch. I would definitely return here to try a different burger.

Visited with the girls on a weekend stopover in Brighton. Neighbourhood is a great find. The beer garden makes a great place to hang-out and get some sunshine, there are also covered area if it gets a bit cool / rainy. I love the quirky decor and relaxed vibe. We loved the drinks - lots of gins to choose from and also a good cocktail menu. The food, too, is great. We all opted for burgers, they were large, well made and very tasty. The chips with stout gravy were also delicious. If you haven't been take a look in Neighbourhood.

I can see from the reviews below that I am writing a review to complain about that same 50 ish/older lady/waitress that works here. I have been to Neighbourhood before and really enjoyed the drinks and sitting outside, however this time we went about 2 months ago, went to go and sit outside. I pointed out a table to my boyfriend for us to sit at and before I could even finish what I was saying to him, the mentioned waitress above shouted at me 'ITS RESERVED...ALL OUR TABLES ARE RESERVED'. There were no reservation notes on any of the five tables that I could see were empty outside. Needless to say I didn't even get a hello.Never went again and wouldn't bother, there are so many more great places to go in Brighton to spend your money like the Cocktail shack!I can't believe how some people talk (shout at) their paying customers.

I went there lots of times and overtime is the same. Food is nice-but expensive, coffee is okay, but staff is so rude. NEVER a smile, NEVER a thank you, they give you that look like they're making you a favour to serve you. The manager should train her staff, although she's the first one who isn't very nice. Such a shame..... the place looks A M A Z I N G!

We visit Brighton a lot and have been meaning to try here for a while. The garden is great with a mix of tables in the sun and shade. I had the full breakfast while my wife had the veggie hash and both were exceptional. This combined with friendly staff and whitstable bay on tap make for a great experience. We will be back!

Ich war zum Abendessen/Trinken mit meinem Vater da. Die Speisekarte ist klein aber gut gedacht und total ausreichend. Die Auswahl an Getränken ist üppig. Besonders viele Biere und Weine! Die Gestaltung des Lokals ist auch sehr nett. Wir haben im Hinterhof gesessen.Abzüge muss man, gerade als Deutscher, bei allem anderen machen. Wir mussten selbst auf die Angestellten zugehen, um erst einmal eine Karte zu bekommen. Dann mussten wir wieder rein gehen um an der Theke unsere Bestellung aufzugeben und wurden dann auch direkt dazu aufgefordert, die Getränke standen noch unangerührt auf der Theke, in Bar zu zahlen. Bei jeder weiteren Getränke Bestellung das gleiche Prozedere. Auf Nachfrage ob das üblich sei, antwortete mir die sonst sehr nett wirkende Barfrau, es sei ein recht großer Außenbereich den sie schlecht im Auge behalten könnten, was allerdings bei knapp 15 Tischen mit jeweils 2-3 Plätzen und 2 “Servicekräften“ eher ein Armutszeugnis ist.Der Service bestand darin leere Gläser abzuräumen und Essen raus zu tragen. Besteck bekamen wir erst nachdem wie unser Essen auf dem Tisch hatten.Die Burger die wie gegessen haben waren dagegen originell und sehr lecker!!!Die Preise sind nicht gerade günstig, 3-4£ für ein Bier und 9-10£ für einen Burger ohne Pommes.

This was my first visit and unfortunately my last. I ordered a latte and hash brown breakfast. The latte was cold so they remade it for me - both staff were nonchalant and really not interested in my order or my service!The breakfast was ok - a palatable pile of mush which I ate as I was so hungry.There was no soap in the ladies bathroom and one of the toilets had urine on the seat- the floors were sticky and dirty.Come on guys for a tenner for breakfast and a coffee you heed to polish this place and your service.

Have been coming here for a while have eaten but mostly go for a drink the food is very nice (burgers) and the staff in particular habin , holly and Mary are lovely people

I've only stopped here for coffee on a couple of occasions as it is close to where I sometimes work. Nice staff and a really nice garden area to sit in, I imagine that it would get packed on sunny weekend afternoons, but when I was there during the week, it was fine. The Sunday Fish barbecue sounds intriguing and I may try it before the summer is out.

The two hours I spent in Neighbourhood Bar was a painful and thorough unpleasant experience. I was just down from London for the day with a couple of friends looking for a quick and casual burger and beer. Despite the simple order of 6 burgers, none of the food for each diner was brought at the same time and instead brought out one at a time. The last main was delivered an hour after the first one... we ordered burgers... The burger bun was the stale - about 2 weeks stale. Quite unbelievable that it was ever servied. In addition to this, he waiters has to go down as the rudest i've ever experienced. There are so many good places in Brighton, so dont waste any of your time in this place. They dont take card, they dont split bills, and you have to go the bar to order (where we waited half an hour despite it being virtually empty). Fair to say i wont be back.

Having recently moved into the area we have visited Neighbourhood Bar a couple of times now.So far we have only visited for drinks, so can't comment on the food.The bar is very quirky with unusual tables & chairs. It has a fabulous beer garden - which is fully enclosed & is a perfect sun trap when the weather is nice. With the white washed walls & white leather sofas, you could almost imagine you were in the Med...The service however has so far been hit & miss. Surly bar maids, grumpy waitresses (think she is the manager), incorrect drink orders...but a good atmosphere generally & a nice place to sit & relax with a drink..

This place came with mixed reviews and I see the trip advisor community shares that perspective. The burgers were good, fact. But aside from that there is little to commend the experience beyond the gem of a garden, partially covered, and the chill out tunes. It's cash only, but not clearly stated, you place your order at a small bar which is used equally for pouring drinks. Slow delivery of food despite it being quiet. Seemingly no one in charge to put a rocket up a plethora of disengaged passionless crew. This could and should be an amazing place but it isn't and I'll not be returning.

There is a really good menu here, and the pub easily catered for 16 of us on a hen weekend for several rounds of drinks and food. There is a good selection of burgers for all diets, and tastes, so is ideal for bigger groups. The outside area is lovely too. The burgers were great that we had, real good quality and tasty too. The only thing I would say is that for what you pay (between 8 and £10 per burger) I would expect a side order of fries or salad to be included, but these were charged as an extra. Apart from this, the staff were really helpful and friendly and looked after us really well. Would recommend.

A nice pub with ambient music and querky furniture. They had their own beer on tap. The staff were polite but a little distant. We had to leave the garden at 11.

Small, intimate, the Neighbourhood hits all the right buttons. Tuesday dinner deal well worth it. £6.50 Burger, fries and a free beer! The burger options were great and did not disapoint. I had a Brighton Blue burger, I love the local touch, using local cheese. We chilled in the Ibiza style garden, it almost felt like we were on holiday. Welcoming staff I will most definitely be hanging out in my new hidden gem.

Came in for brunch, ushered into the garden after being told we had to hurry up and eat before a reservation arrived. Only half the drinks arrived. Dirty glasses and terrible flat whites. Had to chase up the rest of the drinks twice. The person who took our order then asked us if we'd already ordered? Staff very defensive, saying they were very busy but only half the tables were occupied. After 45 minutes and still no food we just walked out and explained that we weren't prepared to pay for the drinks. Table next door told us not to bother waiting and to get out too. Don't go here ever , it's terrible

Came in for a night cap as it was near our hotel, very friendly staff, stayed longer than we'd planned as we were made to feel welcome. Great decor.

I really enjoyed my burger there! The food quality was excellent. Nice staff. Music was a bit louder and prices are a bit expensive.

I found the service here really friendly and helpful. The food is basically burgers and chips but very good quality and burgers of every description (Vege, salmon, poultry, beef) At about £14-18 for burger and chips it ain't cheap though but the taste and quality are very good.It has a great outside space with heating for those chilly evenings and when we visited on a saturday afternoon they had a dj on.Enjoyed the vibe so much we went back the next day.This space is also very dog-friendly!

We popped in here for a quick bite to eat. They do a variety of different bun fillings - traditional burger, salmon , tuna, halloumi etc. -and they add really tasty dressings. The burgers are a good size but if you're after a meal rather than a snack have some skin on fries too. The Neighbourhood beer was good too. We didn't sit outside but you could do as there are plenty of tables. Definitely more interesting than going to a regular chain restaurant. Good service.

I came here 2 weeks ago with a friend who recently moved back to the brighton area. We decided to meet in neighbourhood for a beer and then chose to eat here as we haven't tried the food before. Both of us are industry staff and have been for a long time and we were really impressed with the food.

I've been on Monday to have a lunch. We were thinking to taste the food because we love the back garden and we have been there many times. The menu is quite attractive at the first look. Many burger options, chicken, beef, pork, fish... some salads, snacks etcFirst alert came to mind when the waitress told me that the burger was coming without fries (£9,5 fir just a burger sounds expensive to me) so we decided to order some fries for £5,5... Well burger was grassy, overcooked and no attractive at all but we were so hungry that we decided eat and no complain. I order a pulled pork one and the meet was dry a plain in flavour. An extra recommendation, check the ketchup neck bottle before use it, ours was disgusting (black dry ketchup all around).£ 24,5 for such a horrible meal. Definitely we won't come back for lunch.

My girlfriend and I were lured in under the false pretence of a fish BBQ. In many different parts of the world, including the uk, this would mean local fish simply cooked on a BBQ with a nice side salad or carb. This offering was a selection of tuna, swordfish, salmon and king prawn 'kebabs' with an Asian salad.I can only assume the chef has never actually been to Asia given that, I assure you all, their idea of a salad is not badly spiralised (most of them weren't even separated) vegetables with some soy sauce and two coriander leaves.The fish selection itself didn't really make sense given that Brighton is on the seaside and has a ton of local fish, all of these are imported, the nearest being from Scotland and the rest shipped over frozen from Asia. The salmon and King prawns were raw, the swordfish overcooked and tuna was the sinewy scrap ends cut off the main fillet. Having worked in food for 10 years (and owning my own restaurant) this is entirely accurate.I ordered some skin on fries as a side (these were fine) and some chicken skewers which at £8 were probably the most embarrassing piece of food I've ordered in my whole life. Literally factory farmed chicken cooked on a grill, completely dry with no seasoning at all served with shop bought hoi sin sauce.These were served with two incredibly insipid cocktails at £8.50 a pop.All in all, the food was a complete shambles and I would sooner die than serve anybody, even my worst enemy this horrific menu. Avoid.

Terribly Slow staff who seem to not care.They got our drinks order wrong. Followed by having to send back TWO plates of the wrong food!!!!! Didn't offer an apology..DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I had a planned to have a meal here with my parents, who came down to visit me, my partner and some friends. However, almost directly after we sat down we noticed a very drunk man being very verbally aggressive and loud on the patio. We were told that the man was related to a birthday event hosted by the staff. In a hurry to eat something before attending a public lecture, we ordered and hope the situation would calm down. It did not, it got progressively more out of hand. Two members of the party screamed at each other in colourful language in the presence of several young kids for about 10-15 minutes. The kids were aggressively ushered upstairs. Then a physical fight began on the patio. All the while the hostess payed no attention to us or her other guests. Our waitress apologized but we felt extremely uncomfortable and took our food to go. Looking back I'm surprised we held out so long but I think we must've just been too surprised to make a quick judgement call.

Happened upon this great little local pub. The chicken sandwich with Alabama BBQ sauce was very good and juicy. The fries were perfectly fried and the Bloody Mary had just the right kick.

Myself and a group of friends had lunch at Neighbourhood 23/04 and I was hugely disappointed. The service was slow, the drinks order wrong, we explained to the blonde waitress and accused that we were wrong, insinuating we were trying to get a free drink (we were drinking soft drinks). Food was great, no complaints there and the garden area is beautiful! We went in to settle our bill with the blonde and extremely rude waitress, she refused to let us split the bill and pay separately, this has never been an issue when I've gone out with friends and the other waiter had told us this wouldn't be an issue. All in all the place food was good but dampened by the attitude of the staff. Just need to take on better staff that don't think they're above everyone else and Neighbourhood would be a winner!

this place caters for those who don't know Brighton, just dropping in.. fine drinks and food. Those who are on their way to a club or party.. great tunes and drinks. Those who want to chill of a sunny afternoon fine garden and atmosphere.

Staying nearby and took a stroll around Kemptown area found this bar and gave it a try.A nice outside area and a few quirky touches such as the old lady hair dryer seats.Good local beer and friendly enough staff.Would call in again.

We only popped in for a quick beer on the way back to the hotel but ended up during in their garden (very recently revamped, which looks and feels amazing, almost like you're in Spain) but ended up getting wings which were delicious. When we come back to Brighton well definitely swing by but for longer!

Trying to find somewhere to eat for lunch me and my partner came across This little place. As soon as we walked in the smell of burgers was amazing! We sat down and looked over the menu. Although there were a lot of pages to look over we decided on what we were having and waited. I was starving and the food seemed to be taking a while. As soon as we got our burgers I forgot about the wait and tucked in. I'm guessing they make the burgers themselves judging by the wait and the size of the food. This was possibly the best burger I have ever had!! The bacon was smoked, the cheese nice and melted and the only real burger I've completely finished. The place itself is small and was quite chilly as the door was open and we were sitting at a marble table but the food is was matters.

We've loved going here for years, but they've upped the prices a bit. We went there this week anyway and they'd taken away the tables and chairs on the deck and replaced them with small boxes - you cannot eat off these. They're low, tiny and get joggled when anyone walks past. And... the chairs are in a row. Just no. We left and went next door, and discovered that it's better in every way. So guys, you've got that soooo wrong.

Nice but not smart person behind bar started us off on the wrong foot by pouring postmix Coke and when we objected said that many others don't like it either! OH and youngest child, who lives there, ordered pulled pork and tacos. Tacos and pulled pork all cold when served. On being sent back nice but not very bright proposed reheating the dish. Reheating meat that had evidently sat around! Then my burger arrived, still weeping, very pink inside and also no more than lukewarm. Was sent back too. Replacements came with the owner's apologies and were okay, but honestly only just. Ate, paid bill, left, never to return. Which was a pity as OH and YC had been there exactly a week before and really enjoyed exactly the same food. A reputation is hard to get and easy to lose. Apparently the chef is new but that's no excuse for a potential health risk.

It feels like somewhere staffed by careless students who've stumbled in to an industry they know nothing about. Nice garden, not very remarkable food, long wait for a drink if it's busy.

We decided to visit on "£4 burger day" which is a Tuesday.Got there just after 1pm and place was empty.Friendly girl behind bar gave us menu.Just be aware that the £4 burger day is giving a £3 discount off the plain beef burgers - nothing else!So toppings are extra, chips are extra etc etc.The bar/restaurant is rustic in style and provides basic uncomfortable seats.Burger was small in size but tasty.Two of us ate and bill with drinks came to £21.Despite minimal customers no one asked how our meal was.Would we return - no

My partner and I have had the food from here a few times as a takeaway, and it's always been magnificent. We went in there for the first time the other day, and the burgers and fries, as expected, were again fantastic. The bar staff were also very friendly, and the atmosphere was very fun. All in all, this led to a brilliant dinner experience. We will certainly be going back again and again

My partner and I often struggle to find a restaurant that provides me with a half decent veggie option that isn't mushrooms (yuck!) and that can cater to his love of meat. With the Neighbour bar we have been able to find this balance and there breaded Halloumi burger was nothing short of sublime! The homemade burger sauce in particular is worth mentioning as it tasted fantastic. My partner has had both the standard burger and the Notrious PIG burger and every time and has always stated how lovely it taste. We have eaten the food from the Neighbourhood both in the restaurant and as takeaway and it has never been anything short of great. When we ate in the restaurant the staff were all really friendly and kind and I love the interior. Another thing to mention is that it is fairly cheap considering the quality of the ingredients. We will certainly be back for more of there fantastic food and I can not recommend them highly enough!

I decided to organise my 40th birthday party at this venue two months in advance. Since, I have had to do a lot of chasing up for details on particulars like for example on the food and space. Two days before my 40th birthday party and only after my partner made a call to chase up (yet again) information on payment and reminding the proprietor to organise the space for room to dance and accommodate 50 guests, we were informed about licencing issues. This meant that alcohol can not be consumed whilst standing. Two weeks ago, when again checking out the venue, we spotted a sign that indicated this message. We queried this with a member of staff who clarified that this was not a problem, that parties are held - dancing and drinking - the things you do at a party, and to ignore this. We were advised by the manager that a bar would be available for our party also "no problem". And here we are now, two days before 'the big one' and left stranded. My 40th birthday party now cancelled and left to sort with less than two days to go. A terrible and disappointing experience I will not forget. A place that is 'too cool' to bother caring about their customers. Save your money and go elsewhere

Went here for a quick bite prior to a gig. Ordered two beers at the bar and when I was handed them they were both flat as water. This wasn't an ale from a hand pump, it was a keg beer which is meant to have gas, I asked politely if I could switch them to which I was told no. Had I not already ordered and paid for my food I would have left. Shame as me and my friends spend a fair bit eating out and drinking but it wont be here.

We went to a few places to try and get a decent veggie breakfast. Disappointed with a few places we tried, but then we found Neighbourhood. No pretentious bull, just a traditional breakfast with veggie sausages. Food tasted good and decent portions. It had a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Pity we were only visiting or I might be in there a lot.

This place is not just a good looker! Food is great as well! I was pleasantly surprised with my burger and chips and everyone else was too. These type of trendy places can be all talk and no trousers but The Neighbourhood is not one of them. Meat was well seasoned and complemented by the salad and bun. I would recommend this place and certainly will do! A little secret in the heart of St James Street!

Came in as heard good things and wasn't disappointed! There was a few of us and it was quite busy but it still came out quick. Everyone was happy and it wasn't over priced as places similar can be. 10/10 all round! Think they have some events at night times as well. Will be going back to check them out most definitely...

I know it's meant to be shabby but it seemed to be getting a bit run-down. The girl who was the only member of staff just couldn't cope despite there being hardly anyone there. She was very pleasant but a bit hopeless. Food took ages to arrive, but to be fair it was very good.

This place is really special and is almost a little secret up on st james street. i've lived in brighton a while and have been missing out until now. the chicken burger was amazing and there is something for most on the menu. cool music and a nice mix of people too.

I have given this an extra star as the bar looks really cool. But the food was not great. I opted for the veggie burger with cheese and fries. This consisted of what I think was a small slice of aubergine, something else not sure what all on a small bun served with OK chips. Cost for burger and chips around £12. What we got was not good for the money. My friends had a similar experience. We concluded that we would not return. If the food improves this could be a great bar.

One of the coolest bars this side of Key West with a great selection great southern american style fayre. I opted for the 3 pig Hash which was fantastic while the kids all got down and dirty with the burgers. Smiley grubby faces all round. Love the decor too and the garden was lovely. Met the owners who's kids ended up playing with ours. She was really friendly but he was a bit noisy and slightly scary, still didn't distract from the whole experience.

these are the best burgers i've had in ages! nice menu with some cool extras but the burgers are main man! staff were helpful, music was very good and whole feel of the place is kinda funky. cant fault it. will be going back for sure...

We used to come here regularly on work lunches, but now we try and avoid it.The service is pretty shoddy and no one seems to smile or appreciate your customer.The food is ok, but the best bit of the place is the garden during the summer.

Visited Neighbourhood on a Thursday evening after hearing some great reviews. Love the cosy rooms and decor - it really is wonderfully quirky and excellently decorated, with a beautiful garden/courtyard to boot!We hungrily ordered burgers, chips & wings, and were given a little paper number 14. After each member of staff coming to our table and asking 'number 15? number 16? number 17?' (annoying and rubbish system) we eventually got our wings & burgers - they took AGES to arrive. For a supposedly 'fast' food we waited around an hour, on a Thursday night! then the burger was burnt AND they forgot the chips. When we finally got the chips about 15 mins later they were still a bit hard and frozen in the middle, so sent them back & asked for a refund (I don't think this has EVER happened before - I bloody love chips!) The staff didn't quibble at all and apologised for the wait and poor food, which was good (I'd never give a bad review for an honest mistake if it was dealt with in the right way), however, a table of 4 next to us hadn't waited as long, and didn't have any issues with their food, yet were given free drinks by the barman?! Excellent stuff, but at least make it consistent! (yes, I'm jealous we got nothing...)I'd go back to Neighbourhood for a nice drink out the back, but when it comes to Burgers & American grub in Brighton there are MANY to try, and most setting a way better standard than this.

Great burger night (Tuesday 4 pound burger) plus a very eccentric atmosphere, beer on tap and just look at the walls. You can find something new every time you look at them. A local hang out.

Had a burger and chips in here last night and it was SO much better than I would expect from a trendy Brighton bar. The burger was thick juicy pink in the middle and clearly home made, in a lovely fresh roll with crisp salad. Delicious. I ordered with it a Canadian side dish called Poutine - chips served with mozzarella and mushroom gravy - these were really good too.We normally come here for the good beer and superb and friendly beer garden - but now I will make sure I'm hungry when I next come too as the Fried Chicken looks great!

Firstly, the staff are some of the rudest people I've ever come across. We politely asked when the food was expected to turn up (we had been waiting for over hour) and they became aggressive and accusatory, claiming that it was in fact our fault for having the audacity to order one after another at the bar. The waiter behaved in a unprofessional manner by storming off saying "whatever". Good to see that they care about their customers. When the food finally came it was cold and simply terrible. A feat of nature considering they had an hour to cook it. Stale burger buns, dry meat, and they couldn't even get our order right.On top of that it takes at least 20 minutes to get drinks, and they don't take card. Which they don't advertise until you are at the front of the queue. Who doesn't take card??!!If I could give it zero stars I would.

Warm drinks, food was not good at all the chips were not cooked, gravy was jelly, chicken wings were chewy (not even sure how this is possible) so overall not a great experience, man at the bar was great however we were served by an old lady who I can only assume was the owner as surely nobody would employ such an inefficient staff member - snails move at a faster pace. Will not be returning

I knew about this venue from friends and kept meaning to go along. Upon entering one is greeted with a veritable feast for the eyes with a unique mishmash of uber-cool objet d'art. Pretty people are dotted inside and outside with a large secret garden to the rear. The smells emanating from the open kitchen are the next delight to bombard the senses tempting you into the menu which is quirky but not pretentious: Fast and flavoursome food thats designed to impress but most importantly tastes great is on offer. Worth every penny and nearly every penny I did spend!

have been in about 5 times now and always good. nearly always have a different kind of burger and never been disappointed. the girls that work there are cool with music and an amazing garden aswell. would recommend to anyone. suitable for children also

I have had many nights out in Neighbourhood, but a friend and I decided to sample the food on our last visit.So it's a burger menu... And what a menu. So many options for meat, toppings and sauces. I had a chicken burger with halumi and was recommended the buffalo sauce from the bar tender. She was spot on.Good size portions also, there was enough for me and my friend to share fries. Delicious food, good value, friendly staff. You can't go wrong really. It was the perfect summer eve... We sat in the spacious garden. Top tip for CAT LOVERS: there is a super friendly kitty who hangs out in the garden.

Amazing food! The menu was such a good wholesome choice, I had a classic organic burger then added hallumoi, I ordered chips on the side, but man did not even need them! The bun on the burger was brilliant! Brilliant, chill place for friends and drinks, great cider on tap too!

This was one of the best experiences of my life! We literally spent all our time here and has 100% of everything we needed. From a chilled out garden at the back with food, nightclub area downstairs to the main bar upstairs! Even the doormen were cool and managed the whole event with a smile, firm and fair! This place is top dog as far as we're concerned and should be famous!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

Went here for a late night drink with friends. Fairly busy for a Wednesday night with most of the outside tables full.Good atmosphere, very relaxed like most in the area. Decent selection of beer available and barstaff friendly

Having been impressed with the trendy look of this bar, clever marketing and stream of busy looking photos on their facebook page, I decided to take two friends here for lunch - assuring them it will be worth the small walk out of town. To cut a long story short, it wasn't.Upon entering we were greeted (although not even looked at) by a member of staff who gave us our menus and instructed us to place orders at the bar. As she was talking another member of staff proceeded to push past us shouting "excuse me!" rather rudely - she was seemingly in a rush to stand behind the bar and fidget.We walk out the back towards the garden, which judging by the photos on their facebook page is quite large, open, and looks to be a nice place to sit. When we got outside we were disappointed to see the area hadn't been set up at all... at 2 in the afternoon... So we were forced to perch at a small and sticky table on the cramped upper decking area.I wasn't particularly drawn in by anything on the menu but we decided on our food and I went to the bar to order. As I approached I was abruptly told they do not accept card payments... Now, My local newsagents accepts cards... My local greasy spoon cafe accepts cards. Another disappointment makes one too many for us and we decide to leave. Saying thank you as we left, nobody responded, just looked over in a "you can't sit with us" kind of way.So we won't be returning. We will be sharing this terrible, although thankfully short, experience with anybody who asks and I can only hope from here this venue works hard to improve. Considering there are 938 other places to eat in Brighton (according to tripadvisor) I would have thought they would appreciate how far even a little effort can go.This place looks the part, but sadly fell short of even basic hospitality skills.

The burgers were amaze balls! Just the right size and tasted better than anywhere I've been before. Would recommend for groups for casual dates with a funky type feel and really cool garden. You wouldn't know its there unless you were told so a real hidden gem! This place will be rocking for the upcoming Brighton pride on St James Street!

ten out of ten, went in for lunch and stayed until dinner time. Felt very welcome and other customers were nice. They have an amazing garden the likes of I have not seen before with a little covered area at the end. Check it out!

My partner and I whilst walking spotted this very quirky looking restaurant, we decided to go in and have light lunch. The surrounding is very alternative with a bohemian relaxed atmosphere. It has a very beautiful outdoor garden. It is a very popular place for locals. The food is very well price and it has a very good range. If you are look for burgers and chip, or sandwiches this the place to go. The garden is very popular in summer and makes a nice friendly drink place. Please note that they do not take cards so ensure you have cash. I think it is worth visiting this place when in Brighton.

It was the best food place near our hotel so we ate here a few times. We went there the first time with a hangover and we ordered some great chunky chips with gravy and cheese! It was really well cooked and worked a treat! We went for breakfast too and it was lovely. The garden is really cosy and the inside is really well decorated. I'm a vegetarian too, and there were veggie options for everything on the menu, which is nice to have so many options!

Not half bad at all! Food came out quick and was proper, stayed for drinks after and music was good. Staff were nice and everyone seemed happy. They have very impressive garden so wanna go back when its sunny to sit out there. Everything well priced and overall nice as pie! Cheers! :-)

We had drinks and early evening food on our first visit and were very impressed. Everything was yummy and we'll definitely be going back. Would recommend getting some cocktails as I think there was a special deal on! 10 out of 10!
