Meal was OK - ham, egg & chips but 35min wait with no explanation until 2mins before it was brought out- not ideal £4.75 for half Fosters lager shandy - ripoff 🤬☹️

Went to Navigator for breakfast after my haircut on May 1st ,, breakfast was amazing it was served up by the lovely Donna who could not have been more helpful and friendly ,, and the view is amazing also from the dining room window ,, do yourself a favour and get down to the navigator for your morning breakfast and have a great start to the Day

Popped in by chance for breakfast. Staff member very attentive and breakfast excellent. Based on this we booked an evening meal for following day. Next day, popped in again for breakfast, different staff member seemed less enthusiastic. White toast ended up brown, bacon hard, sausage dubious. Very unsatisfactory. Based on this, cancelled evening meal. Would we return? No.

Always enjoy coming here and food is quite good although the turkey roast today was quite processed meat and the roast potatoes not great either.. Not good for what you pay. But staff are always friendly and service is good. The younger girls could do with smartening up rather than looking like they're going to do a workout in the gym in leggings that look like tights and leave nothing to the imagination .uurggh! Older ones always dress well and respectfully.

I use the restaurant 3 or 4 times a week either on my own or with family including grandchildren. I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a bad meal and have always enjoyed breakfast lunch and dinner in the restaurant.The staff are ALWAYS attentive and friendly giving excellent service, with nothing being too much trouble. My grandchildren just love going there and are always welcomed and served exactly what they want. Can not rate this place too high. Many thanks. Roy.

Arrived for a one night stay. The evening barmaid was very attentive but the food was awful and the single room cramped and the towel was grim. Morning breakfast was an experience I’ll try to never remember. A fairly dreadful dining experience, and the waitress barked at me where I could and couldn’t sit, (there were four other people eating and the ‘restaurant could seat in excess of 100 I imagine). There was definitely a ‘locals only’ feel to this place, strongly emphasised by Catherine Tate’s ‘Nan’ who was on duty this morning. On the plus side, continuing to chew those sausages will give me something to do on the five hour journey home…

Very dissatisfied as although I’ve eaten here many times and can’t fault the lovely staff, management seem to have removed all the veggie options. No vegetarian roast! Out of a whole menu the only meal I got offered was a veg lasagne. No thanks! Most restaurants are increasing their vegetarian options but it seems The Navigator is doing the reverse.

A nice place to eat. Overall food is of good quality, especially the fish. The lamb shank is a but dry and doesn't need to be drowned n gravy. Something to improve on but overall a good place to eat locally.

I turned up last night with my German family/friends to have a meal at the Navigator /It was an excellent evening from start to end and nothing was too much bother/The food was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals and drinks/My German friends were very happy which made me happy/The staff very friendly and service excellent! Its a very friendly warm pub/hotel and I would definitely recommend/I will be back again for dinning there/Thank you

We booked a table for 8 family members (on my recommendation as I have used the pub for many years.) to celebrate a birthday 2 weeks before our visit, leaving a telephone number should their be a problem. On being seated the waitress informed us their was no fried food available today as the fryer was broken. We asked why they hadn’t rang us to let us know so we could then decide whether to cancel or not,as a lot of the items on the menu are fried-no answer she just walked away. Another waitress took our order & told us the fryers had been broken for 2 WEEKS not just today! We asked again why we hadn’t been informed & was told’ I didn’t take the booking’ Besides no fried food, other items we ordered were not available which limited the choice further. The food we did eventually get was good & up to it’s normal standard but that doesn’t excuse the bad communication regarding the limited menu. Unfortunately I will not be recommending the Navigator again.

Just popped in to see what was on offer. I had mushroom wellington and other half had liver and bacon. Absolutely delicious. Lovely homely atmosphere. Lovely wine and coffees. Will definitely visit again. Well done The Navigator 👍

I would never go here again! Two tables & they struggled with our order, so waited & hour! I'm sure this was frozen fish & we got no apology as why we waited for ages! One Star

Had an absolutely lovely meal here this evening. Shared a combo starter with my dad, included Halloumi cheese, calamari, whitebait, prawns etc. Tasted delicious. Great friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Sat on a table facing the sea.

Been eating at the Navigator for over 30 years and never had a bad meal staff always happy and cheerful. Best views of any restaurant in Bognor Regis direct sea views. Looking forward our next visit. 😀

Arrived (no need to book) and immediately welcomed and seated. Beautiful beach view - such a bonus! Orders taken promptly and drinks/food arrived hot, beautifully cooked and very tasty. Service was faultless and accommodating; our requests were met with politeness. Great service, lovely views, good prices and welcoming...we can't wait to go back!

Last minute choice for somewhere to eat and not disappointed. Place was much busier than expected which was a good sign. Got a table with super views of the beach. I had already decided on fish and chips but the other menu options looked excellent. Food was served quickly and was really tasty. Service was first class and Theresa was a real star. Every thing was well priced too. Far better than some chain pubs in the area and I would certainly return.

Not been here for a few years, so we were a bit apprehensive about booking a table with friends. We were very pleased that all our meals (4 different ones) were very good indeed. Had some nice wine with our meals, then we all had a different dessert, which were also very good. We will definitely book again and hopefully our table will be set up ready for us on arrival.

We stayed the night the women won the Euros, we just wanted something cheap and cheerful after a day of travelling. We got far more than value for money. The Navigator is a quaint characterful place right on the sea front. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and generous. The staff we encountered on 31/07/22 & 01/08/22 were a credit to the establishment. The highlight of our stay was the breakfast. Simply the best full English I've had in the longest time!! Pay her more! x

A bit overpriced on food … you can’t charge high prices on food along with high room price you make money on rooms not food.

The staff and chef could not have been more helpful. As a coeliac, I'm always a bit wary of eating out, but the Navigator have got it sorted! So helpful, even understanding about cross contamination. The food is beautifully cooked and presented. First visit but won't be my last!

After a short stay away on business ,I returned to the Navigator to partaking the food provided by the chef. It was of an excellent quality and the wide range of drinks , made the whole experience very enjoyable.

The Food is very nice and the satff are very good and will help you. In every way and we go down there we have the best food and the satff will help you. All us will see all of you again keep safe

Came here a coiple of times, as I am a local, and they serve seafood here (unusual in a coastal seaside town). First visit I had a plate of mussels, which unfortunately made me ill all day. Came back again for the King Prawns a few weeks later, and that was perfectly nice. Also the prawns has a lighter sauce with them, which suits fish more.At the moment I gave it 3 stars because of the mixed experience, but that may improve if or when I visit again. Unfortunately, outside of London, Seafood in restaurants in the UK seems to be a case of taking your life, or at least your stomach in your hands

Spur of the moment . Booked to stay one night . Liked it so much I stayed another night . Very clean and tidy . All the staff very helpful friendly and polite . And the food is absolutely excellent . Superb menu s for breakfast and throughout the day . The full English is the best I’ve had in a long time . And they had whitebait which is my weakness . You could walk by and not not notice the navigator from the outside . But this is a bit of a hidden gem and well worth a visit . Dog friendly too which gets a bonus mark from me! we stayed in room 22 in navigator too with a lovely view of the sea,the room was lovely and clean with a sofa for looking at the view.the food was very good and the staff where great

Excellent meals cooked to order using quality ingredients, served hot by cheerful, helpful staff at very reasonable cost. The adjoining bar is comfortable, cosy, relaxing and cheaper than the nearby modern, souless pub.

Went for a evening meal for 2Service by a young Lady was great.A good choice of menu and also drinks.The place was clean and friendly but it is sadly the place is little outdated by its look. Its a bit drab.We ordered liver and bacon also a stroganoff.My order came and I said that I did not order a curry....In fact it was my stroganoff.Terrible presentation. Plate was so hot it cooked my side salad. In fact it was only a garnish.Served in a balti dish with pilau rice with tomato on it. If I went for a curry then thats fine. Could of done better.But I can say that the meal was really good.I will reserve my choice to visit again with family and friends. Re price and the decourFor the price for both meals was not worth it. Over priced for what you got in its surroundings.Hence not a great level of points.You would think that they could do better. It is always busy.Shame. Just a lovely spot.

We mostly enjoyed our stay at the Navigator. Friendly and helpful staff, decent room, great sea view, cosy bar.However, it's let down by the poor (or non-existent) vegetarian options. On this very Tripadvisor page it says "Special Diets: Vegan Options, Vegetarian Friendly". Which is a bit of a joke, to be honest.First of all, the vegetarian version of the full English breakfast. A vegetarian sausage was promised on the menu, but didn't arrive. The baked beans were lukewarm-to-cold. Not great.Then we made the mistake of giving the Navigator another chance for Sunday lunch. The mushroom soup starter was excellent, but when it came to the main course, we were asked "The vegetables are cooked in beef fat. Is that a problem?"Yes it's a problem! If the vegetables are cooked in animal fat, that is not a vegetarian roast.In summary: 1) warm the beans up a bit, 2) if you say you're going to give us a sausage, give us a sausage, 3) cook your veg in olive oil, or don't pretend you've got a veggie option.

I had lunch here with a friend. We each had Fish Pie and a pint. The food was perfectly cooked and presented, the prawns in particular were a good size and consistency. The service was efficient and friendly.

The whole experience was exemplary. The standard of cooking is high. The wines are well looked after.Also the beers. If you a complaint about this venue it is due to your ignorance.

We went with our twin granddaughters, the place was absolutely lovely, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The girls were given an ice pop by the landlord (?) It was such a nice place but unfortunately we couldn’t stay for something to eat but the food we saw looked delicious. We will definitely be making a return trip to this place.

We ate here on several occasions during our stay and if it either breakfast,lunch or dinner the service was the same high quality as was the food. So much so I chose to eat here for my birthday dinner, as they knew it was my birthday they put a banner up for me which was a lovely personal touch. I would recommend booking your table in advance even if you are a hotel resident as it is extremely busy with local people that come to dine.

Popped in with elderly Mum on very hot day despite she wanted tea !!! which they gave with biscuits, staff were so friendly lovely atmosphere

The most delicious and fresh Sole that I have eaten in years. Served by a smashing group of people who were so friendly. The portions were quite large so watch the scrumptious desserts! One plate two spoons!

Another lovely lunch in the Navigator...normally eat here with friend (and dogs) during the week but today had Sunday lunch. Lovely roast pork (lots of crackling) good selection of vegetables. Fab location overlooking the sea, great food and really nice staff.

Have eaten here a few times over the years and they have got very greedy with their prices, £11 for a beefburger or fish and chips is acceptable if the food is of a Gastro style but here it's just basic, akin to fast food.

This restaurant was recommend to us by near by Hotel Staff and what a find. It was a Saturday lunchtime on a cold and windy April day. The Restaurant was fully booked but the same food was served in the bar where we ate. My wife had a dover sole and I settled for mussels in a beautiful cream sauce. I do not think that I have ever had such a wonderful dish of mussels, I almost ate the shells. I think that what stands out for me was the friendliness of the staff. They could not do enough for us. I would definitely revisit if I am in that part of the world again, - the beer was good too.

Back again at the Navigator, but this time for lunch with friends. Always friendly warm welcome and service. We did not have a reservation, but luckily we arrived early and were immediately seated.Great view of the sea, but not very inviting on a below freezing day, even though it was lovely and warm inside. Good selection of bears and wine and nice menu for lunchtime. We had Sea Bass, Chicken Breast, and Fish Pie with a nice vegetable plate. Good food in a separate dinning area with a great Pub atmosphere.

We travelled back to bognor to see family and wanted to stay somewhere as it was a last minute trip.

We were staying in our campervan opposite this hotel as parking is free from October. We had lunch here and a pot of tea for 2, the price for a tuna sandwich and a gammon sandwich both with chips and pot of tea was around £17 which i think is reasonable. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. Toilets were very clean and also dogs are welcome. We will no doubt visit again.

Great location on the sea front. Table hooked for 12 o'clock, on walking in there was food bits on the floor which is offputting, especially so early in the day. The atmosphere was nice but the service was slow to take order, we had to ask in the end. It is quite expensive for Pub grub and not value for money. Sent roast beef back as meet was very tough. The lemon meringue pie had obviously been hanging around as the curd was split and the pastry all soggy at Just under £6.00 it was dissapointing. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but i would not go back.

As always before the food was excellent. The great change was in the service where the staff were very attentive, there was no long wait for the food and all was so much better than in the past.

Excellent restaurant / bar linked to the hotel. A place where you really want to be and the food matches the expectation. We never took dessert though, as the choices were all a bit odd and some regular options would be appreciated. The starters and mains were so good you really don't need anything more. Whatever coffee you asked for, it just seemed to come out as filter coffee and a bit brewed as well :(

Very dated and weird set up in the room. Comfortable bed and nice view. Uncomfortable seating in the bar. Nice staff.

We were in Bognor for five nights on business and staying close to The Navigator which we found on our second night.

We arrived at the Pub/ restaurant quite late but were warmly received. We just wanted a light meal and the fish soup was recommended and it was excellent. The best we experienced during our holiday.

Nice location with easy parking. Welcoming and extremely nice staff. The food was consistently good, not exeptional but very good. Lots of choices and offers. Have now been a few times and always found it be the same..............

Went for a meal, ordered, meal arrived 50mins later, fillet steak stroganoff was hot in the middle lukewarm in the outer, steak was chewy and grizzly and basically inedible, my partner's dish was lukewarm, and because of the extremely long wait we were passed eating! A £30+ meal drinks excluded was terrible for the price! The restaurant was one of the best in the area, but not now, food quality has gone seriously gone downhill and prices have gone up, it could be a goldmine, because the staff are lovely, location is definitely brilliant please bring back the food qualities you had before and we'll come back! I'd rather pay more for quality food, sorry! A disgruntled customer!

Whilst visiting Bognor for 3 nights in our motorhome made the mistake of having breakfast at this restaurant. The breakfasts (one standard and one vegetarian) were small, overpriced as well as overcooked for the price of £8 each.

Quick bar dinner with my children. Nice friendly staff and wasn't made to feel unwelcome with children (who were well behaved!!) Even had people in there with a pet tortoise with them :) very nice visit

Eaten here many times. Food always very good and generous portion sizes. Staff are just lovely and nothing too much trouble.

Friendly attentive service , delicious , well cooked food in a relaxing seafront restaurant and bar environment . Great value for money and at certain times a "two for one" option on the menu. You need to go a long way to beat this . Definitely worth visiting .

good food and good service will be there again the week of 26th March for another meal it is clean and tidy and overlooks the sea which is a bonus

We took my husband's mother here for mothers day. She's 92 and has a very small appetite so we decided on the bar menu. Outside there is a huge board advertising 2 for 1 meals before 5.30 pm and another board saying small portions for seniors. This, along with the reviews here, seemed ideal. The first problem was that the cod and chips didn't come in a small portion which seemed odd as this is a standard meal for an elderly person! The meals were very nice (don't go if your in a hurry tho! The pace is leisurely!) The main problem came when paying the bill. No 2 for 1??? On querying this with them I was told this wasn't on Sundays! I apologised and said I couldn't have read the board properly! Paid.. tipped and left.. only to then see the board outside had no mention of no Sunday's!! I took a photo of the board and returned into the restaurant. The manager didn't believe my photo(?) And proceeded to go outside to check! After several minutes of wandering around outside she eventually found a small menu stuck in the window of the next window that had 2 for 1 no Sunday's in small letters in the top corner. No apology.. nothing.. just said she would tell the owner to put it in the board. Spoilt an otherwise nice meal

You never feel rushed here, the staff are really lovely and helpful nothing is too much trouble, they are there if you need them but don't keep coming up saying 'Is everything alright' as some eating places. The food is really really great and I am a very fussy eater.

A large menu, something for everyone. Reasonable prices, friendly waiting staff. Would highly recommend it. also rooms above and next door to stay, opposite the seafront.

We had an absolutely superb lunch here, sea trout perfectly cooked, my wife had chicken which was very tasty. Very cosy bar and friendly staff. If we are in the area we will visit again.

We shared a combo starter which was all fried and looked like it was chucked on a plate with a bit of salad hidden under it, for £9 was expecting something a little more special than that with a bit of freshness and care, my wife had a nicely cooked ribeye steak shame the side salad was not cared for the mushrooms were cooked in something that made us Ill, and the chips looked like and tasted like they had been through the frier about 4 times, I had a mixed grill the steak was ok the liver hard and the gammon so salty it tasted like a salt pot had been pored all over it, not very impressed for the money ! service from staff was a bit haphazard very polite but forgot basics I.e steak knives and offering sauces, I think a little more care and attention from the kitchen to front of house this could be sorted maybe because it was a Monday, shame really as I know we spent £50 all in, but we wouldn't go back.

Great pub by the sea, would be even nicer if they had more veggie options. Veggie menu has been the same for years. Would go more often if menu changed or had a daily specials perhaps. Saying that their mushroom stroganoff is delicious!

No complaints....good presentation... Staff courteous and attentive... Lovely atmosphere.....interesting menu...plenty of choice for all. Definitely will return.

My friend and I walked along the seafront with my dogs and we saw a large sign outside the restaurant saying that dogs were welcome. I remembered seeing the Navigator advertised when I stayed at Hunston Mill. We received a lovely welcome and the atmosphere was cosy and warm. The Sunday roast was truly outstanding. Generous helping of tender lamb and pork with delicious home cooked vegetables. The doggies were given treats and water, which was a delightful gesture. All the staff were so helpful, efficient and friendly. Very much looking forward to our next visit. A gem of a place, and if their hotel were dog friendly I would stay there too. Thank you for transforming a miserable wet walk into a memorable afternoon.

A booking was made for a small family group, but unfortunately 4 people could not come, due to illness. When the rest of us wanted to go we were told the deposit for all of you that was originally coming has been forfeited. You will have to pay in full even though you are coming at the same time.

This is a little gem. But be warned, because they are good they get very busy at popular times. Good variety on the menu. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Very traditional English pub. First time here we had fish, which was v good, and a passable chicken dish. Went back later, had a pasta dish which was a disaster - no taste at all - plus Another chicken. This turned aout to be same as previous, only someone had spooned Another (ready made?) sause on top. Had to wait a long time for food. Cook only seems to be anble toa handle one table att the time. Very friendly waitress. Good for drinks.
