Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

I so love Boscastle and was excited to return, however The National Trust Shop and tea room reflected the increase in dogs very well. There were at least eight dogs in attendance with their families, not all were well behaved. I myself have limited mobility and therefore mindful of not impeding others access however a poor senior lady with her severely disabled partner struggled immensely to navigate the cafe safely.

We visited the shop and cafe at 4.15pm for a coffee and a browse unfortunately the cafe was closed and being mopped even though closing time 5pm. Ok some people don't get closing time and expect staff to stay behind for their convenience but we are not members of that club but not only was the cafe closed the shop was also closing around us. We were made to feel very uncomfortable even though at this point there was 30 mins to closing time. The light were switched off and the top of the shop was closed off. All in all if you want to grab a quick coffee or but a present then please make sure you are their at keady an hour before closing and hopefully you will be more welcome!

Mid-day on a Tuesday, one sad looking vegan pasty available plus one equally sad cheese & onion pasty. OK it’s January, but if you choose to be open, and not much else was, then the least you could offer is a decent selection. Soup was available, decent but way overpriced. All in all a sad reflection on NT, they need to get their act together, no wonder members are leaving in droves.

There's only a snack menu for lunch but that was fine with us. They do pasties, jacket potatoes, sausage rolls and a sort of hot cheese sandwich. At 1pm they had no pasties and no jacket potatoes. At all. Really? The sausage roll was dry and the cheese sandwich was tasteless and soggy. The orange and poppy seed cake was lovely. Oh. And four bottles of still water - £10!

We unfortunately chose this cafe for our Cream Tea, out of many in Boscastle! There were 6 of us, but they only had 5 scones left so one person had cake. When the first scone was cut open, it was revealed to be still frozen in the centre. The waiter apologised and took all the scones back to be microwaved. The jam came in those tiny mass produced jam pots and the servings of clotted cream were also tiny - so barely enough to cover one half a scone. We were seated by the till and a door was open behind it, so it was like sitting in a wind tunnel, as it was a nasty rainy day. I went to find the toilets, walking out of the Cafe section into the Shop section of the building. I asked a member of staff where they were and she rather rudely told me that I had better be using the Cafe. There was a blue screen blocking the toilet entrance and I was informed that only one toilet was use, so there was a long queue outside. All in all, a thoroughly disappointing experience. There must be many cafes in Boscastle that are more welcoming, more efficient, better value and serve better quality food than this cafe.

Visited on Wednesday 16th November 2022. The cafe and shop are within the same building and you can walk in between them without exiting the building. The range of food in the cafe is quite limited but all delivered by very friendly staff and when I tried to revisit later I found the cafe had stopped serving a full 30 mins before the scheduled closure time.

Stopped at the National Trust Cafe for a bite to each before a wintry stroll along the headland. A very warm and friendly welcome from the lady behind the counter, such a happy smile and genuine warmth. We were soon sat drinking the most delicious hot chocolate and eating a nice steak pasty. Stopped for tea and cake, all to the usual NT standards - a TV in the cafe showed the footage of the Boscastle floods- being able to look out the window and see exactly where it happened, in summer too is quite sobering. Gladly Boscastle has rebuilt and is such a scenic place well worth a visit.

The expense of the tea was bad enough but to be told off in a cue of people when we asked politely for a little more milk, that we were only aloud a thimble of milk and it was measured according to instructions, the voice they said it in and the manor we were shown the amount in was unexeptable and rude. We go here very regularly as my sister is a National Trust member and can park here for FREE. Likewise her hubby and she get discounted entry tickets but I am not sure how much they cost. I pay full fee but get a concessionary ticket. Once inside the property there a wonderfull walks through the grounds. But first off we always go to the cafe and warm ourselves up with a wide choice if coffee, teas, sandwiches and cake or some hot food. You can sit indoors in the pretty dining room where a lot of effort has gone into making it Christmassy OR you can go outside to the courtyard and enjoy the fresh air with your dog perhaps? Although there is another Ron dedicated to owners & their dogs so if necessary you and your pooch can have your refreshments sheltered from the rai. A special mention is to be made of the Loos. They were decorated inside and out with foliage baubles and glitter... No effort spared. There is also a fantastic gift shop where there is a sale on at the moment going into January. Half price Christmas cards are a real bargain. I also like to set aside time for the 2nd hand bookshop... Such a treat. I love Trellisick

When ordering a cream tea for two we had to get our own scones from the counter and these were not covered unlike the rest of the cakes they had available. We then had to take away everything on a tray as if it were a canteen which is not what I would expect in a small cute tea room/cafe. And there was also no options to have the scones heated up which would have been nice. Especially as two scones two jams and creams and two teas cost £9.90. was still a lovely place however felt that other places offer a lot better value for money.

nice selection, simple but varied. Prompt service and reasonably priced. The food was all of a good quality and you can take your dog to eat in the yard which is a super lovely place. Just be aware the gulls hang out there, they are not at all aggressive, just opportunist. highly recommended

Nicely situated in Boscastle. Typical National Trust cafe. Perfectly acceptable for a quick coffee and cake break. Friendly staff. A very well-stocked and attractive adjoining NT shop.

Called in for a cream tea whilst visiting Boscastle on a rainy windy day . My husband and I had a cream tea each which was pleasant . Staff are friendly , didn’t like the self service style set up , but other than that no complaints.

A lovely position overlooking the harbour with both indoor and courtyard seating and staffed by very friendly people. Attached to the visitor centre so you can view the video from the 2004 flood and then rejoice in the sympathetic rebuilding since

The thing which is really awe-inspiring and good about this cafe is the attention paid to the environment. Served with recycable, wooden cutlery and cups. Nice to see them doing their bit. Delicious cakes, but not 5* because I think hygiene could be better, on several occasions, flies landed in the cake cabinet.

All National Trust facilities are of a high standard & this one is no exception. Staff were extremely helpful & the coffee & cakes tasty & refreshing. My wife's Bakewell tart was very tasty & succulent. My cappuccino was a work of art.

We booked afternoon tea for family celebrations. Afternoon tea was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress Pinka was friendly and looked after us. The special offer was a bonus too. Highly recommended!

My elderly parents stayed overnight at this charming local inn. They were, from the start, treated with huge care and respect. Staff went above and beyond to cater for their needs which included swapping rooms to allow easier access, housing (and charging) a mobility scooter at some inconvenience and finally ensuring they left and returned safely from their social commitment. Their kindness was amazing. And the room itself was fresh, clean and well maintained with all the charm you would expect in this lovely building.

What a amazing place with amazing staff regardless of any negative reviews. Shame they keep the negative reviews and don't post the good ones that I know have been wrote tonight. Went here for my daughters 18th tonight. 20 of us. All food was amazing all at the same time and all with smiles on there faces. Nothing was too much trouble and I love coming to this place every time everything is how it is stated. Always hot always fresh and always enjoyable and affordable. Thank u so much

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
