I live here and go in occasionally for an iced bun and a cup of tea if I have time to kill. Yesterday I noticed how dirty and shabby everything was and how grumpy the staff were. Not at all welcoming. The place needs a good clean and a makeover. Out of interest I looked up their hygiene rating and it is 1.

Food was ok but one of the staff members was really miserable. I honestly felt like I would feel more comfortable dealing with Basil Fawlty. She seemed nicer to my friend but seemed very frustrated by my colloquial accent. Don’t expect any customer service magic. The women basically wanted us to leave after serving us.

A Saturday late morning visit to a busy Chipping Norton, saw us visit this café located in, what looked like, a late 1990’s retail development called the ‘Spendlove Centre’. This café appeared to be quite popular but the staff seemed to be rushed off their feet. The server I encountered was quite gruff and not at all welcoming. She was rather impatient when questioning customers ahead of me, and with myself as well. I ordered two Americano coffees with hot milk, but I was then brusquely asked, once the coffee was in the cups, if I wanted milk! I let it pass rather than saying what was on my mind. I took the coffee back to our table in the separate seating-area at the rear of the café, opposite the entrance into the Co-op (‘Coop’ as it is spelt on their new livery). The coffee tasted slightly-better than average, and it was hot. One thing I did note was that each member of the serving staff had to fetch the portable card reader from the previous user and, with a particularly long service counter, that meant that service was unnecessarily inefficient. This could go some way to explain the issue with the mood of the server. So, my advice to this café is “Get another card reader!” We are unlikely to return.

just to say I was served by a dear senior aged lady who prepared the best Roast Pork Bap with delicious meat with stuffing and apple sauce. I also had a large jam doughnut with lots of tasty jam inside. The lady was very polite and told me to enjoy my what was a fantastic take away lunch. I will definitely be calling in again when I am next in or around Chippy.

Called in to buy bread and cakes, wish I hadn’t. Woman making sandwiches was moaning about having to serve me. Made me feel like I shouldn’t have been there. Hygiene not great either, she did not wash hands after serving me, just went straight back to handling meat etc with no gloves, I know gloves are not needed but surely you wash your hands after handling cash. Oh bread was ok by the way. Didn’t get cake as it seems too much bother for her.

Staff are miserable in here really let the place down could be the hub of chippy but instead they would rather moan when you ask if they have something which they don’t sell but yeah a change of the old guard is desperately needed here I’ve visited it several times over the years and whilst I can’t knock the grub the staff on the overhand…..

I was delighted I popped in here on a rainy Saturday morning recently. It’s a busy little spot but I found the staff members really lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed my freshly prepared bacon and sausage bap with a delicious coffee while sitting in the covered area outside. The coffee was so nice, I got another one to takeaway with a fresh jam doughnut for later. There was an array of breads, cakes and pastries to choose from - I was spoiled for choice as all looked fabulous!

Visited for coffee & cake and bought extra to take away plus a loaf of bread. This was clearly too much for the grumpy staff member. We did take a while ordering as there was a very large selection of goodies on offer. Wish we hadn’t stopped for coffee as nice as it was it left a bitter taste that the staff were so miserable.

Popped in here for lunch and so pleased we did. I had a great slice of vegetable quiche. Scrummy. But the roll Hubby had, was an amazing pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling one. It was almost a meal in itself. If we’d had room, we could have chosen an amazing cake or pastry to go with the lovely coffees we had. Will definitely go here again. It was such a great visit with lovely staff. Especially on Wednesdays 😉

Fair product but pricey (4 rolls £1.60 - similar at Sainsburys 90p) and poor service (Staff have an irritating habit of finding soemthing to chat about amongst themselves while the queue builds up).

We wanted to support an independent business so went in for Coffee. Whilst a lady was making coffee, I asked a male if he could toast me a Fruitcake. Mistake as apparently 'You can't ask another member of staff for something whilst being served by another'. Not sure who they dislike most, their colleagues or Customers. Disappointing as the range of food etc is very good

I can't say that the staff were rude as I have seen in other comments left here, but the pastries were quite awful. We ordered what looked to be an apple and raisin pie. As soon as we tasted it it was clear the ingredients were imbalanced. Everything was drowned out by a weird taste of bitter almonds. It was overpowering. As I could see no almonds in or on the cake, I presume it was a liquid concentrate. Pity no other fruit could be tasted despite the majority of the filling being apple. Second, the most inner layer of pastry was clearly raw. I've baked enough cakes myself over the past 40 years to know the difference. We left it and asked to buy something else., hich was a bland, just cooked apple turnover. We told the elderly server that the pastry was not quite cooked inside. She spoke to a man who came over and asked if he could take the plates with the unfinished pastries away. We said yes and he asked what the problem was. We told him it here was gooey pastry on the inside, to which he replied that it was normal because it was strudel ,not apple pie. Well, I love strudel, travelled often in Germany and Holland but never eaten raw strudel pastry, and never have they contained bitter almonds. Even Aldi, Iceland, lidl tesco etc. stock better strudel. If I go to an artisan Baker, I expect better , not worse. Come on, it's hard to make cakes that are so bad, that make you feel queasy. Even the ones that turn out not as expected, are generally good with a hot tea or coffee. I felt nausea after this one. They ought to invest in a new recipe book. A simple British apple pie would have been 100% better.

Stopped here for a coffee and cake and loved the selection available, took a while to choose what to have. Our items were reasonably priced and the drinks were good. The ladies serving were all polite, not particularly chatty, but pleasant and were very patient whilst we were deciding. We have been back since our first visit to purchase further bread and cakes, as the bread is the best we have tasted so far. A lovely little gem.

I dont know why I keep going back to this bakery. I always hope I get to speak to the one nice staff member but most the time I am unlucky. I dont quite know why the staff are so bad mannered and have awful customer service skills. Today a lady said she thought I was going to steal a packet of crisps when I picked up a packet and walked towards the counter to order a coffee. Then when I asked for the coffee to be In a takeaway cup she complained that I was confusing her. And when I went to pay and the contactless payment didn't go through( it worked fine but had to be put in the machine) she said my card was dodgy.... All of this making me feel very unwelcome and as If I had done something wrong. This is not the only occasion when I have had bad service and amongst my family and friends we refer to this bakery as the Grumpy bakery. One other thing that bothers me is the staff have long hair and are working with food but none wear hair nets It could be such a lovely cafe and bakery if the staff had some proper manners or training in customer service.

We decided to have lunch here because it seemed the only place where people were voting with their feet. We shared a Bacon, Tomato and Cheese Panini, which wasn't bad. With a mug of tea and coffee it came to £8.45. The place was cold and lacking in character. Wife had a Chelsea bun to take out - not that good. No toilets in the place and when we asked where the nearest were they recommended Café Nero - actually there are public toilets in the long stay car park. All in all a fairly underwhelming experience.

The staff are friendly and chatty and the place is very busy which says something about what the locals think of it. Don't be put off by the basic tables and chairs everythingelse makes up for it. Pasties and pizza and a great range of cakes and the coffees not bad either! As for the price it's probably the best value you will find anywhere. Cool building - I love unusual Starbucks stores! Hot chocolate was excellent as I could actually taste the chocolate (unlike some Starbucks locations) and milk was smooth and creamy. Will return if I'm ever in the area.

Went later than normal lunch so wasn't so packed and sat in the undercover corridoor just outside the giftshop entrance. It was quite cold out in the courtyard and indoors seemed a bit chaotic with lots of staff clearing tables and kids running around. The ordering line blocks the view of the cakes so you need to be in the line to see them, but it moves so slowly and you can't get a good look at everything all at once which made me bounce between decisions a lot. The location of the clean trays didn't make sense and I had to leave my spot in the line to pick one up. Others in the queue didn't mind though so I was able to jump back in, but not before another couple hijacked my empty space to get the till operator to fix their order which had something wrong with it, leaving me standing there a little awkwardly holding an empty tray for a while. With my poor eyesight I couldn't make out the small writing on the menu which was way back behind the till and everything turned out to be quite pricey but that was expected. Ordered a carrot and walnut cake, sausage roll, and a latte. My coffee was excellent, though I had to stand there with a loaded tray waiting for it as it was the slowest moving part of the process with only a single barista and machine. The susage roll was still hot and really tasty, and the cake was fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful.

A very cosy environment and a busy atmosphere gave the Fleece a really nice buzz. There was some big tables in enjoying Xmas work meals and so we were advised that service may be a little slower but in fact everything went very smoothly. The staff were all very friendly and professional despite being busy All the food was delicious, the service excellent and the choice of 0% beer very good! Portions were decent, there were some nice ‘gastro’ touches like the crisp chicken skin accompanying the Chicken Schnitzel and the truffle mayo. And the Tiramisu was stunning! All in all, great food, friendly service and a cosy venue
