Fantastic authentic fresh food. So different and unique experience. Friendly owners very keen to explain all the different dishes. Delicious coffee as well.

Great Twist of a Menu. There isnt one. You choose from the freshly prepared dishes on offer, which change daily. You can choose to eat in or take out. Friendly servers who are actually the owners. They will talk you through the dishes so you can decide what to have. Very reasonably priced. No need to book

What an absolute find! Took my 12 year old daughter and six of besties to lunch here as part of her birthday celebrations. The food was delicious and the girls all ate incredibly well. Real food that was full of flavour. They all had bubble tea too. Win. I had the best chai I've had in Brighton (and I've lived here for 20 years!) and a gorgeous lunch. We were so well looked after, the whole experience felt relaxed and really warm. I'll be back with my hubby, then my Mum and then my Brighton bestie!

Went for the second time today. The idea was breakfast as we were not so hungry, but the food was smelling so good that we had to try one of the main lunch meals. We chose an omelette that was perfectly cooked with the right amount of flavours. The croissant was fresh, and the orange juice, freshly pressed, was perfect as well. I know it sounds weird that someone is rating the orange juice, but try it and you'll get it. The orange cake was a nice surprise. Still warm, fluffy with the right amount of chocolate, a perfect little treat with coffee. The atmosphere is amazing. If you're looking for a calm place to lunch, that's it. Disability friendly? Yes, ground floor, no steps and comfortable seats. I suppose it can accommodate a wheelchair if needed as ot have space for that. Level of sound noise could be a thing if too crowded, otherwise it's noise safe. Dog friendly? Yes! There are seats outside and seats inside. Plus: they have bubble tea (take away as well). And it's very good.

Very disappointed by the high cost and rather bland food. It seemed fresh well the hair in my food did anyway. I certainly didn't feel I could mention it because the man running the restaurant seemed rather passive aggressive. I will not be going back or recommending the experience to friends.

Have walked past here for years (!) and never gone in, which was foolish because it was totally delicious. Felt so comfortable, and had the most amazing food - so good we stayed for seconds. Definitely making a second trip back for Saturday Laksa!

I have never felt more at home after eating the food here..I ordered the singapore chicken with noodles and the moment i had a spoonful i was delighted!!It was so fresh and filling and with the right portion!The owners were so warm and friendly which made it more enjoyable.Nanima is definitely on my top places to eat in Brighton.I highly recommend it.

Stumbled across this gem of a find today and so glad we did. Stopped in for a late lunch, we shared a keema pastry, I had the minted lamb kebabs and my partner had the salmon. Everything was delicious with lots of taste explosions. It’s a lovely cafe and daily fresh dishes which change everyday. Lonnie was delightful to meet and explained all the mouth watering dishes and his amazing and talented wife Nikki cooked all the dishes. We’ll definitely be back

I ordered 15 dishes from Nanima for a team of colleagues who have variety of dietary requirements. Every need was catered for, with all of the meals being super duper delicious! I now pop by when I fancy treating myself to a healthy Asian meal from thr best restaurant Brighton has to offer!

Could not recommend this more highly. We yumed our way through every mouthful. The aromatic, perfectly-balanced food was matched by the friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic service, and a genuine feel that Nanima is happiest when you are happy, relaxed and well-fed. A home from home cafe-style atmosphere that instantly relaxes, and a daily changing menu, that all 4 of us, kids included, found a delicious dinner from. Fabulous.

We were on our way home from the hospital and wanted a healthy dinner to bring back. Nanima was an excellent choice. Fresh food, reasonably priced and with generous portions. Most importantly, the meals seem like they were made with a lot of care (egg and potato curry was a delicious discovery!). It was also a pleasure chatting to the two lovely owners as well. And it's one of the few places in East Sussex that serves an actual homemade lemonade. We will be back! :)

We discovered Nanima in March and loved it. The food and drink are exciting, authentic, super fresh and delicious. There is no set menu so you try something new each time - a great idea! The staff are welcoming and passionate about food. The place has a relaxed vibe and you can see all the customers are having a good time. This time we took visiting friends and began with Singaporean Laksa. It came with silken tofu, chicken or seafood. And we followed it up with up with spiced chai and a selection of cakes. A perfect evening! Thanks Lonnie and the team.

Popped in mid afternoon on the off chance on a Friday, receiving a very pleasant welcome from the host who explained the choice on offer, the variety and the way they work. We enjoyed a lovely cold soup followed by salmon, noodles and a mushroom dish; fantastic flavours and the ambience is cosy and comfortable..

This is an unassuming gem of a restaurant that serves inventive fresh Asian specialities. The service was first-rate with a really attentive and friendly server who explained all the options with detail and pride. We’ll definitely be back!

The restaurant serves fantastic Asian food—the chicken leg is incredibly juicy, paired perfectly with delicious fried noodles and delightful tea. The owner is exceptionally friendly, taking the time to introduce fresh menu items. I visited Brighton for a football match, and even as a home fan, he made me feel incredibly welcome. One of the best carrot cakes I,ve ever tried. Very tasty

We've been here twice now but the first time we only had pure (actual tea), gorgeous bubble tea and a really good coffee. Today we luckily secured a table in the comfortably full restaurant and tried the food. There wasn't anything on the menu I wouldn't have been happy with! The food (see picture) and service was outstanding and we'll definitely be back. A credit to the (already great) area 👍

Absolute gem of a find! Superb food, all so healthy, freshly made and unbelievably tasty. Fantastic service and great atmosphere. 1 tbsp of curry.. (with plain rice, lettuce and vegetables) £9.50 with an NHS discount. I find it fascinating that a place that is decorated the way it is and sells expensive stuff feels the need to be that unbelievably stingy. I am just imagining the lady who served me very carefully only putting 1 tbsp of curry into my lunch box, under strict instructions, or possibly out of fear of being punished for the minimal margins lost for providing a substantial meal. I am angry, but also laughing at just how pathetic this is 🤣

Had an amazing iftar at Nanima! The restaurant created a custom menu and all the food was delicious! Such a great home cooked food! And friendly staff as well. Definitely recommend for group events and catering. 😊🌙🌳

We hosted a queer affirming iftar here, and the restaurant not only created a safe space but was able to prepare dishes to our specifications. The food was delicious, well presented, and with a comforting homemade taste. The other options on display looked amazing, and we can't wait to try them. We visited Nanima Asian Kitchen for the first time on Friday and we will definitely be going back. There was a selection of non veggie and veggie options and we both went with Malaysian chicken curry with dhal and coconut rice/noodles. It was full of flavour, beautifully cooked and we had home made samosas on the side. To drink we had Singha beer and a home made apple and cinnamon juice. It’s a family run place and we were made to feel very welcome.

We went to Nanima Asian kitchen cafe today and must say the food is delicious and they are lovely. However, the portion size and price do not match. We tend to eat modest portions but even for us a main for £15-16 in a tiny bowl (which was 80%rice and 20% potato and chickpeas) is insufficient and unfair - especially when you can only eat out rarely! Sadly won't go back even if we liked the taste of the food. Thanks. Seda

The food at Nanima's is fantastic and Lonnie and Nicky are awesome. We liked the food so much we asked them to cater a 100 person two-day event in Brighton and the food went down a storm. If you love fresh but hearty curry and noodle dishes then book them for your next event!

When we visited Brighton, we had a wonderful lunch at Nanima's. It was the kind of food your friend's grandmother treats you to, too, with her traditional recipe. Great homey flavours from someone who understands the subtly that species transforming everyday ingredients. It was all very good, and we all felt grateful we were in the hands of someone who really cared about excellent food.

Great tasting menu. Menu changes everyday, showcasing different asian cuisines. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The place is cute and cozy. They don't shut early, so you can go after work and buy food (if still available as it usually sells out fast). They have an amazing selection of pastries too. The pistachio cruffin (croissant muffin) is heavenly! Can definitely recommend. They offer discount to NHS staff too.

Wow!What a wonderful place.I’d been recommended to try Nanima by so many people and finally did so today. From the moment we entered we were made to feel welcome. The place was fairly busy but in a vibey not stressful way.The guy at the counter, presumably the husband in what is a genuinely family run restaurant, patiently talked us through all the day’s dishes. Took us a while to decide! We’re both vegetarian and the choices all looked delicious. The food came quickly, as well the homemade lemonade and peach iced tea!! Everything was absolutely fantastic. Full of flavour, fresh and healthy. And generous portions, at very reasonable prices. The place is lovely, full of plants and great music. It was just such a rare pleasure to be hosted as guests and not treated as simply paying customers to never see again. We will definitely be regulars now.

I love the hospitality of this lovely family and their restaurant set in the heart of Kemp Town. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always very friendly and welcoming. The food is delish, well thought out; all carefully and lovingly prepared. They hosted my special 70th birthday and my granddaughter's 20th birthday. I was so impressed with the food, the service and the ambience that I didn't hesitate to attend a pop-up event which they hosted. I wasn't disappointed there either! It will always be my go-to restaurant where I can meet with friends and I will certainly go back for future birthdays and celebrations.

We visited Nanima feeling tired and over hungry, but left feeling warm, taken care of and very well fed! Our tom yum was absolutely delicious and we were savouring every mouthful of the chocolate orange cake. I felt as if we were being welcomed into a family home and really appreciated the time that was taken to explain the different food options available on the day. I cannot recommend this cafe enough, we'll definitely be coming back!

The man behind the counter is scary. The reply to low reviews so ludicrously defensive and I'm unsuprised after my encounter. God knows what this will bring down on my head. We were reading the menu Behind the counter when we came in.The man behind the counter was explaining the menu to people in front of us, then turned to us and said beligerantly " I will be with you in a moment" thinking we were looking at him rather than the menu. This man is a liability to the place. I think he's the owner. Food was mainly undercooked veg. Never have I been scared to go into a Cafe, having lived here for forty years but I would never go in there again.

Honestly, every time I eat here it’s consistently great. We went yesterday and had the Japanese mushroom soup and Korean chicken sandwich, amazing!! Lovely cosy cafe in the heart of Kemptown. I've been a long-time customer at Nanima café, the atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, love all the plants and the dash of colour from the food, drinks, coffee or simply the café's interiors. The owners are lovely people and always with a positive and helpful attitude. The food is fresh and cooked with love, with a variety of South Asian dishes and flavours with vegetarian and meat options to satisfy any customer need/ preference. Highly recommend trying with family, friends or even solo if you need a calm place to recharge.

Nanima is a true neighbourhood gem that people need to make their way to no matter where they live. Their aim seems to be to make you feel right at home - whether it's through their hearty food offerings, the inviting interiors or the welcoming friendly team - Nanima have got it sussed. It's a cafe-come-restaurant so caters for most hungry moments...or they do a mean coffee if that's what you need. Their food is eclectic from currys, soups, salads to sticky Korean buns and more - the menu changes on a regular basis, but you're guided through the choices - and their portions are v v generous! I had a Chinese chicken soup that warmed my cockles, followed by their show stopping Singapore Laksa - super super warming, fresh, hearty and tasty. The cakes were irresistible too - and according to legend you can't share their delicious warm oozy chocolate orange cake without coming to fisticuffs...me and my husband tested the theory and I won! Needless to say I recommmend you get yourself to Nanima if you want excellent, interesting, fresh and nourishing food for a really reasonable price. Yum.

I've often walked past & thought I must pop in there. Well last night I did and we weren't disappointed. Greeted by the very hospitable Lonnie we were immediately made to feel at home. Great food on offer and a couple of us were lucky enough to get the Laksa (thoroughly recommended, though normally sold out by 7 so get there early) Huge choice of desserts and cakes, if you're too full for cake then I really recommend taking a slice or two home (the carrot cake is divine) we also took a box of Little Moons home with us. My recommendation - if you're passing don't just walk by this lovely place, pop in for a coffee and why not grab something to take home for dinner later. Lonnie and Nicky are superb hosts and the place is warm and friendly. We will be back

I had the best most culinary satisfying meal that I have had for a very very long time. Nanima Asian Cafe has a warm calm atmosphere and Nicky ( who cooks) and her husband were delightfully hospitable without being invasive. Nicky even made a special chilli paste for me as I like spicy .. I am mesmerised by Nicky’s cooking. The decor, the ambience, the cool background music and the food!! I’ll be back!

We have been to Nanima a few times for lunch and it's always delicious. We loved the varied menu, the friendly service, the cobra on tap and the friday/saturday laksa is delicioussss! We also recently had catered food for 22 people from Nanima and the food was super delicious - Nicky worked with us to design a great menu of various starters and two mains with an amazing coconut rice. They were also very flexible with pick up times. We'd definitely look to them if we ever need catering again & would highly recommend!

A smorgasbord of flavours from across Asia. Food, service, ambiance all spot on. A lot of passion and love has gone into this business. Kerala chicken and potato curry was cooked to perfection, the quality of ingredients is high which makes for a really nourishing meal.

A real gem. We went in during a howling storm and felt totally nourished by the food with delicate, delicious flavours, the warm welcome by the family, and a charming atmosphere with relaxing folksy tunes. Would be great for a morning coffee, lunch or dinner, or a glass of wine in the evening.

Just enjoyed a wonderful meal at this fabulous and friendly café/restaurant in Kemptown Village. Delicious food, attentive service, lovely vibes, genuinely family-run, local independent neighbourhood goodness! We were treated like valued guests, not punters, every single minute. What a great find on our trip to brighton! We felt vey welcomed, the food was freshly made and delicious too! We started off with chocolate orange cake and hot drinks then as the lunch was ready had chicken konji and chicken curry. It was a perfect way to start our day!

We were staying just round the corner from this place so went in to check it out. And I’m so glad we did! It’s a family-run, independent place where the owners ensure both the food and atmosphere are superlative. There’s home-cooked food (absolutely beautiful flavours, kudos to the chef!) and a great overall concept of lunchtime cafe and intimate evening restaurant with a daily changing menu. Excellent overall and we’ll definitely come back when we next visit Brighton.

A must visit! So many flavours, food was great! With a lot of choices for all palettes, a big + for all vegetarian choices! Great if you want to share and individual plates. A warm dog-friendly welcome from Nicky and family led to a lovely dinner for myself and girlfriend. Our dog is a little random on account of being a rescue, but we were assured through stories of various family dogs over the years, that our fuzzball was in good hands. The menu is a selection of freshly cooked concoctions which you can mix and match into meals, for instance 1 main and 2 veg sides, that sort of setup. We had salmon with string beans, shredded veg and a delicious sauce, with some chicken wings and a tasty puff pastry lamb-slice-type-thing plus a fresh tap lager. Think it was cobra. The queue for the place next door beggars belief as I'm sure their pizza is fine but it's not going to be much different pricewise than Nanima and you won't have as healthy or tasty a meal or meet nicer people than this lot! I mean: it's just pizza?! I remember when I was a student the familiar ease of stuff like pizza or kebab felt more soothing and once habits had been reinforced they were difficult to break, but the predominantly uni-vibe of the takeaway next door would have an amazing meal at Nicky's for not more more. My mates got a saying 'i make my own atmosphere!' and whilst that's a great attitude most of the time I reckon a packed evening in here would be even more fun than the decent low-slung guitar-led tunes that were on the playlist when we visited. They're all so amazingly warm, attentive and chatty. Just a lovely bunch of people and we'll definitely head back.

Popped in for an early dinner with our dog on a Friday. Very much a cafe style place, intimate and informal, but if that's what you're after you can't go wrong. Delicious, varied menu - found it very hard to choose what to have. Dishes all delicately flavoured, nourishing and cooked with love in beautiful family run kitchen. Homely atmosphere and Nicky and her hubby could not have been more hospitable and warm to us and especially our pooch. Will be back soon!

Lovely Asian fusion restaurant in Kemptown. Popped in for lunch and had a fantastic Afghan Chicken Curry. The atmosphere is cosy, friendly and the food is incredible. Highly recommended for a lunchtime visit. The menu varies day to day so be ready to try something new! Will be going back!

What an amazing find! Lovely gem of a place. They had us at "Chicken Sambal"! One mouthful & I was transported back to my mum's kitchen!😋 Authentic Asian home cooked food which has restored our faith in eating out & feeling satisfied for what we've paid for. More importantly, owners Nicky & Lonnie were extremely helpful & friendly creating a cosy & comfortable setting to enjoy truly tasty food! After chatting to them & then treated to their Spicy Coconut & Cucumber soup that tasted like home, found out chef Nicky's from Malaysia too😁Enough said!!!
