Greeted at door & offered choice of table by Des. Whole restaurant atmosphere was buzzing (even at 5pm). Had few questions bout menu & spice/heat intensity of dishes which were answered perfectly & we ordered. Food came in perfect amount of wait time & wow....beautifully presented & delicious. We like to eat from hot plates. Restaurant plates are stainless steel & cold bt Des went & got us 2 traditional plates that he had warmed...cant get better service than that! Whole experience excellent & will def return. Highly recommend.

This place was a revelation in Indian food for me. I had a platter to try a few dishes and every one was great. All very differently flavoured and delicious. The lamb was the softest I’ve experienced, the chicken was perfectly tender. I had a wonderful Indian cocktail too. The ‘junk food’ chips and cauliflower bhaji were also brilliant. I liked the modern feel to the restaurant with a mix of classic Indian styling. The custom artwork on the tables and walls is also worth noting. A restaurant I will visit again.

Had masala dosa. It tasted made with instant Git’s Mix. Chutney was awful. Sambar and masala was good. It was a small size. The chef needs to go to a real South Indian restaurant like Sarvanna Bhavan to taste a real Dosa. The restaurant is nicely decorated and service was fine. The English music was good. The plate is small so Dosa looks good. I saw guests next to me eating Veg Thali. That looked better.

Wasn’t particularly hopeful of good food when Sharwood’s poppadoms were bought to the table. Four poppadoms and chutneys for over £5 is taking the p anyway but to serve shop bought ones is not on. No excuses. The meat thali was very tasty but the roti was incredibly oily. Not bad value at £22 for the thali though.

Awful experience. Some guy at the front more worried about his hair than greeting us. Tried to sneak poppadoms on us for extra money and the Australian lady tried to upsell us repeatedly. Was looking for something authentic… weird decor too… food just ok but absolutely nothing special. The guy at the front all he did was talk rubbish about the chavs that wanted a tikka masala so loud you could hear him. Very offputting.

We both had veggie Thalis. At least 6 different flavoured and textured dishes - with stunning rice and a roti - all for £20 each, plus 3 hand made pickles with the poppadoms. The thali dishes were all unique and the symbiotic flavours bathing each ingredient displayed knowledge and artistry. This is only possible in an independent restaurant - they are rarer and rarer, ones like this.

Indian Summer: A Taste of Authentic India in Brighton Indian Summer, nestled in the bustling Lanes of Brighton, offers a delightful escape to the vibrant flavors of India. The restaurant boasts a modern take on traditional Indian cuisine, and my recent visit confirmed its well-deserved reputation for delicious food and authentic ambiance. A Feast for the Senses: We started our culinary journey with the classic Chicken Tikka. The chicken was succulent and tender, marinated to perfection in a blend of aromatic spices. The chargrilled flavor added a smoky depth that was simply irresistible. Next, we savored the Mutter Butter Paneer. This dish was a creamy, flavorful delight, with soft paneer cheese and green peas swimming in a rich tomato-based gravy. The subtle sweetness and nutty notes from the butter created a harmonious balance of flavors. No Indian meal is complete without naan, and Indian Summer did not disappoint. The naan was soft, fluffy, and slightly charred, making it the perfect accompaniment to soak up the delicious sauces. Affordable Indulgence: One of the most pleasant surprises was the affordability of the meal. Despite the high quality of the food and the prime location, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, making Indian Summer an accessible option for a delicious Indian feast. A Visual Treat: The restaurant's decor further enhanced our dining experience. The interior is adorned with traditional Indian elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. From the intricate wall hangings to the vibrant colors, every detail transports you to the heart of India. Final Verdict: Indian Summer is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Indian dining experience in Brighton. The combination of delicious food, affordable prices, and charming decor makes it a true gem. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or looking to try it for the first time, Indian Summer is sure to leave a lasting impression. Highlights: * Delicious and authentic Indian food * Affordable prices * Beautiful and traditional Indian decor * Friendly and attentive service Recommendations: * Chicken Tikka: A must-try for its tender chicken and flavorful marinade. * Mutter Butter Paneer: A creamy and flavorful vegetarian delight. * Naan: The perfect accompaniment to any dish. Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Great food but ruined by very rude waitress! My girlfriend and I just come back from our dinner at your restaurant. We had reserved a table for 7 but we arrived about 20 mins early. The lady at the front desk was completely okay with us showing up early and seated us - points there! Within less than 2 minutes of being the waitress Jess came to us and asked us what we would like for drinks. We had barely enough time to collect ourselves so it was a bit rushed, but it would have been okay if she showed us more patience whilst we looked through the menu (or at least offer to come back after a few minutes!). But instead my girlfriend, who was visiting from South Korea on holiday and is not a native English speaker, was spending a bit more time going through the drinks menu. She first suggested a wine drink which I noticed was 0% alcohol, and when I told her that, she wanted to look for another drink. Then when she selected another wine drink the waitress said this was a rose prosecco - my gf did not know what a prosecco was and was asking me. I said to Jess sorry for the delay but she seemed annoyed by the time it was taking for my gf to choose and didn't even acknowledge my apology. Once we chose the drinks she went off and brought those to us quite quickly. We then ordered our food - I was asking her about portion sizes of the vegan platter dish and whether it could be shared, but again she did not seem very patient, and when I asked her for the gf option and what was being changed for the roti, she again seemed a bit impatient. Everyone has a bad day, I acknowledge that and I thought it might just be one of those days for her, but when you're working in the service industry you do expect good service and if you don't receive it, you do not particularly want to pay a service charge. When the bill came I asked her to remove the service charge and her reaction seemed shocked. She asked why and I'm not a particularly confrontational person and I did not feel like I needed to justify or explain anything (I especially did not want to tell someone straight to their face that their service was poor), so I just said I don't agree with paying service charges. Then she walked off in a very obviously annoyed manner and brought back the amended receipt. We paid, said thank you and she did not utter a single word and just walked off. At this point, I realised I was not just "imagining" her bad service - imagine her reaction if I actually told her that her service was poor! The food was great and the other waitress who brought our food and took the time to explain each component of the Dish was very nice, as was the front of desk lady, but it was unfortunately overshadowed completely Jess' rudeness. It was our last night in Brighton so we wished we could have left on a high note.

We were warmly greeted as "walk-ins" by Des, our server and enjoyed excellent service during our visit. As others have noted, the menu is not vast and you won't find many of the old flock wallpaper favourites (eg Meat Madras, King Prawn Bhuna, etc) that are getting increasingly difficult to find nowadays. But what they offer, they do well. To sample the largest selection of menu options we chose the meat thalis and found all the various dishes to be well cooked and flavoursome. The atmosphere of the place is very pleasant and the background music is kept where it belongs - at background level, so that it's easy to hold a conversation without having to shout, which then raises the overall noise level as others raise their voices in turn in order to be heard. We would certainly consider returning, although the fairly limited menu might be a problem for us.

The place is excellent, the staff are very respectful and their service is great But for those who want good Indian food, I do not recommend it. I mean, it is cooked in their way, not the Indian way. The service was quick and the meal was delicious, well seasoned, well flavored and perfectly spiced, the chicken was tender and I even cut it with a spoon because it was so tender. The presentation of the dishes is also very successful with a fairly classy effect. The decoration of the restaurant is quite original and very pretty, the decoration is even pushed to the toilet!! I really enjoyed some real, authentic and amazing Indian food at this place and can not forget the amazing service by MIKY. MIKY was so nice, amazing and serving food with all of love and care like an Indian.

I've been using this take away for about 5 years now but feel compelled to leave a review. This is one of the best curry takeaways in my area (Fiveways, Brighton) however the prices are rising, portions getting smaller with barely enough meat for a child let alone a hungry adult, the sag aloo (spinach and potato) barely half filled the small tin foil tray and they have started charging for minor substitutions even though the items swapped are the same price EG asking for a naan instead or rice (both £3). They charge £1 extra per swap The bags of salad and onion are much smaller now and they are charging for chutneys / mint sauce which used to be FOC. So in short it's just not worth the £££.

Curry didn't have much flavour and the chicken was over cooked. Naan was nice as were the poppadoms and chuneys. Onion bajhi tasted like they came out of a packet. Disappointed really as had high expectations as it used to be amazing. I came in Saturday 19th and ate in. Honestly the chicken wasn't great and the portions were very small, I eat plenty of Indian food and this was definitely average at best. When you pay £25-£30 you expect a great meal.
