We have visited here multiple times over six years, before, during (in the tent outside) and after Covid, with different tenants. I was delighted to see it had reopened, and have visited several times since October 23. Food and service has always been excellent. Menu is perhaps less wide ranging than previously, with pizzas and curries missing. But there is still a good range of classic pub food, done very well.

An absolute delight to visit again The Nabs Head at Samlesbury, a warm welcome was had by all, the staff was friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and plentiful, the ale was a delight. All in all a great place to dine. A lovely log burner certainly adds to the establishments charm. My personal recommendation a definite 5*

Our first visit since lindsay took over. We used to come regularly when Michael was here but after closure and the first re opening we have not visited. We came with a friend and our 3 dogs , the lunch menu looked great but we asked if any specials were on. After checking in kiitchen my hunt had sea bass and king prawns. It was beautiful. Hassel back potatoes and the trimmings. I had the chichen supreme with black pudding and medley of veg etc and our friend had chicken bacon ciabbata with fries etc . I can honestly say it was the best pub meal we have had in ages. Thanking you so much . The staff were lovely , helpful and attentive. It was a pleasure to meet lindsay too. We will be back soon .

3 of us went, Tuesday 19th August 2020 taking advantage of the 'Help Out To Eat Out' deal. On arrival, hand sanitizer at the door and another inside the little establishment. We had booked for 7pm, we were 5 minutes early. The waitress was around, another working behind the bar. Stood there which seemed like ages, waiting for them to ask the name of the party booked, to be seated. Puts you on edge, with the current situation. No starters, were ordered. At the moment they have a reduced menu, like many places. So hubby got 'Large' Cheese and Onion pie with Chips and Beans. Son a Southern Fried Chicken Burger and myself Roast Beef Dinner. Would like to see what the small Cheese and Onion Pie comes as, not very large at all. Nevertheless husband said it was nice. But, didn't like the Chips. Maybe just personal taste. Chicken Burger also nice, apparently. The Roast Beef dinner, plenty of meat which was just satisfactory I guess. Didn't taste like it had been roasted off a joint. Then again, was mid week. The potatoes were appalling, 'mash' full of loads of hard potato pieces, 'roast' chip panned, but very nice Home made Yorkshire Pudding and decent fresh vegetables. One dessert was ordered, son loved it and was demolished in mins. With more attention, this place where we have visited frequently over the last 20 years, more so before the take over, could be a very good/excellent eating place.

We've tried quite a, few of the dishes on the menu in the last month and ALL have been equally delicious and none have been below par.The soup is usually excellent. The pate is flavoursome and not too smooth. The prawns are amazing. Equally the cajun chicken goujons is a good size and fills the spot.Recommended from the mains are the fried chicken special the southern fried and salt and pepper are spiced cooked perfectly. The large gammon is fantastic value and plenty big enough. The homemade cheese and onion pie is tasty and the pastry is superb. The beer battered haddock is absolutely phenomenal. Crispy and huge again excellent value. Another hearty favourite is the chilli with rice and chips spiced just perfectly. My ultimate favourite is the cajun chicken salad main which is the best I have ever eaten, anywhere. We don't often eat a pudding but the salted caramel ice cream is delicious.Preferred drinks are Warsteiner and Fosters which are kept and served by the Landlord to the highest possible standards. The place is spotless. Modern. Comfy seating. A real village pub. Welcoming and friendly staff. Outside eating and inside are both covid observed and a pleasant atmosphere. It's very reasonable in price and cheaper than other pubs/restaurants locally. Their food really is delicious and I have never seen or heard a single customer complain in the slightest. Very good for family meals and they have a beer garden and a marque. Creative specials board and I think it was venison burger, beer braised steak or gammon which all sound tempting. Top tip ring and book ahead it can get fully booked it's that good

The guy behind the bar was great & seemed to do everything from running the bar, bringing the meals out to clearing up afterwards. The starters were enjoyed by everyone & when the main courses arrived i was glad that i had opted for the smaller portion as i had plenty. I chose theLasagne which was excellent,,again everyone else enjoyed their meals too. The Chocolate fudge cake i had for afters was delicious & the Jam sponge was highly praised The place wasn't too busy when we arrived but filled up as the evening went on. The price was really reasonable, we pay the same prices for chain pub microwaved food at home... this was by far superior. We have 2 children aged 5 and 9 and the menu options for children were great, love it when it is not assumed children only like chicken nuggets and chips... whilst chicken goujons are an option, there were lots of other options inc smaller portions from the main menu. Don’t miss out on dessert!!!!!

We were staying in the Shepherds Huts at Samlesbury Hall and chose here for evening meal because it was within walking distance (for us anyway!) and dog friendly. Nice welcome from the barman/waiter on entering, who got our drinks and provided a bowl of water for our dog without us having to ask. Extensive menu choice with the usual pub classics together with a Pizza menu which seems popular as a couple of locals called in for a pint and ordered Pizza to take home with them. Mains arrived in good time, in fairness we had been warned of a longer wait than usual as everyone had arrived and ordered food at the same time, but the barman was doing a sterling job fetching food, clearing tables and serving at the bar !! Our mains were all lovely, I had read on here that someone had said that the pie he had was 'the best he'd ever tasted' and can honestly say the same about my Cheese Pine, it was gorgeous and served with excellent chips and baked beans. Another good idea is every dish being available in Small or Large size. Desserts were also very tasty. All in all an excellent place for a meal or drink and one we shall certainly return to

We were in the area, and having passed the sign pointing to the hostelry on the A59 opposite Salmesbury Hall, tried the Nabs Head for a spontaneous Saturday lunch. We arrived just after midday, and it filled up quickly, even that early. The menu is quite comprehensive, but the specials board had very interesting choices, including goat curry. From sandwiches to fish and chips, through pies, lasagne and curries, there must be something for everyone. Our meals were served promptly, by a friendly waitress. So, a nice eatery, but it seems also to be a hostelry for the villagers too. In the evenings, I’m sure that the fullsome selection of single malt whiskies will provide additional warmth.

Having found that this was a dog-friendly pub we headed off with our poodle (Bobby) and were suitably impressed. As well as the children's, there are 3 menus, main, ciabatta and pizza and smaller portion sizes are available for most items, which can be handy for some. We both plumped for ciabattas, which arrive with chips, coleslaw and salad garnish. We both struggled to finish our meals, despite Bobby's sterling efforts in helping in this respect, and both ciabattas were tasty and filling.

Been here several times now whilst passing. The food is brilliant value for money and very good quality - some dishes are available as either a large or small portion. Lovely choice on the specials board too. This is quite a small pub so at busy times and especially weekends, to be sure of a table, booking would be advised. The only downfall of this very traditional pub is that the interior is very tired and dated looking. The wooden tables at the front of the pub could also do with a face lift as on busy summer evenings without booking these are the only tables available to use. We will keep returning though as the food is just great.

My Wife and I visited The Nabs Head for Sunday Lunch whilst exploring the local countryside. The pub is in a rural location, and from the outside has the all the inviting appeal of a traditional British village pub. The Pub has a car park that I guess could accommodate about twenty cars or so. The interior is very clean and inviting, and has the warm traditional ambiance that immediately puts you at ease, bringing back happy memories of the heyday of the British pub. Definite plus point is that there is sufficient room between tables so you never feel hemmed in !When we visited trade was brisk, although with the assistance of a helpful young barman we managed to locate a table. If you are thinking of visiting with a larger group at popular times, it might be advisable to book in advance.Great range of traditional cask beers, as well as many other popular favourites. My Wife had a large glass of delicious Chilean Sauvignion Blanc, whilst I enjoyed choosing from a range of quality soft drinks, the elderflower was very refreshing indeed. There was a fixed card but also a number of specials highlighted on the board, we decided on this occasion to treat ourselves to the traditional Sunday Roast, and we were not disappointed. Food was hot, well presented and very tasty, The Roast Beef was very tender, and the portion size was not at all stingy. Roast potatoes and veg was done to perfection.Would recommend without hesitation, we are looking forward to our next visit, there is a well furnished vault if you decide to pop in just for a drink,Looking forward to trying out other items on the menu, and the wide range of alcoholic or soft drinks. With two main meals and drinks our bill came to a very reasonable £25 approx. Next time I think we will try the range of starters, and may even squeeze in a pudding if we have any room left!Staff very amenable and welcoming without being overbearing. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, a little oasis from the hectic day to day world.

Top quality pub grub in a nice environment. Lovely lad called Danny serving and await ng on. Well mannered and pleasant. Great choice of home made traditional fare at very reasonable prices. Salisbury gold cask ale in prime condition. Veg soup and pate to start. Steaks ale pie, chicken stuffed with black pudding. No room for spuds. Just off the main Blackburn Preston road and well worth the trip.

visited with my wife after a day out on the coast, early evening on sunday.4th sept. good parking area and a welcome as you walked in. selection of beers ok and wife had a coffee. menu covered most aspects of normal food, also specials boards for curries and main courses, being early the pub was fairly quiet and we ordered starters to sample the cuisine, served quite quickly and good so we ordered main course and sweets, all served quickly and all good.the staff were very willing and polite, rest rooms were OK ( downgraded on someones review). the bill was very reasonable as if you order starters, sweets with main course they come at a reduced price

Felt it must be worthwhile visiting as it was on Nabs Head Lane!We were not disappointed tucked on a bend there were plenty of spaces in its roomy car park.We took a window seat and the young barman took our drinks and left us to choose our food order. Most dishes offered a choice of "small" or "large" we both opted for smalls and were glad we did as it was a struggle to finish. The barman, greeter, waiter and anything else one would like to mention was attentive, very good at all he did and was willing to learn. Virgin American Express cards were new to him and he now knows the reason so many places refuse them.My small bangers and mash in a Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy and garden peas were superb and very worth a return visit one day.Sadly my visit to the restroom was like entering a wardrobe and finding the bank manager already in it. Clean but not surprising as the whole thing was so small.

Excellent food , great atmosphere , friendly locals , good beer , decent prices .But too much Rocket !Perfect in every other way , but way too much rocket on the salad . If it said rocket salad then fair enough , but it didn't . Picky I know , but that's the only negative . Bit of iceberg would of been nice .Fantastic pub food , excellent service , great host.Pay them a visit , you won't be disappointed .

Yesterday we had a great meal in the .Nabs Head pub,we like the fact that you can choose the small portions at around £6 each. We still had a big plate of fresh veg and good choice of meat.It is only a small pub but a very wide choice on the menu.I had gammon with pineapple, chips, tomato, mushrooms, carrots and broccoli,my husband had the roast beef dinner and the meat was so tender with delicious looking roast potatoes, and freshly cooked veg, both cost £6.Coffee was £1.90,sadly didn't have room for dessert. We are already making a date to go back very soon, hope to see you there.

Pie chips and peas - sounds boring - this was lovely - well cooked and plenty of it. served in a brown dish with a disc of shortcrust pastry, a great serving of meat. I had the small portion £6 my friend had the large portion £8.25 and both were more than ample. Great price too. Pub is nice and clean, very friendly staff, service is excellent + they have a few cask beers I think there was 4. I will be going there again so much on the menu appealed to me. my friend had a pint of beer our total bill was £16.75.

The Nabs head is off the beaten track and one worth visiting. I enjoyed a lunch time visit with friends and had a tasty hot steak & onion Balm cake along with a pint of Salemsbury Gold bitter a 3.8% golden ale. Both were enjoyable. Prices and choice of food was very reasonable. Besides Thwaites Beers there was also Jennings available. Although I did not have any there was a nice choice of deserts including Apple Pie, choc gateaux and Lemon Meringue Pie. Plenty of room to sit and eat/drink including a rear room.

We hadn't tried this little pub before and are so glad we did. I wanted a traditional roast beef dinner and this did not disappoint! You can have a large or small version and I ordered the large one( as some local restaurant small portions wouldn't feed a child - yes you Park Farms Ramsbottom!) what a hearty portion this was. Loads of thickly sliced roast beef and good fresh vegetables. Wonderful. The only improvement for me would have been a little jug of extra gravy, which I suppose I could have asked for if anyone had thought to come and ask how the meal was, but no one did!My husband had the liver and bacon special and was also very pleased with his meal. I will certainly return here, but maybe choose a different seat as I was quite cold throughout.

Brilliant tea at The Nabs Head - freshly prepared and it shows. Starters of mushrooms and Bury black pudding were lovely, followed by a perfectly cooked steak and a roast lamb Sunday roast - thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Worth mentioning that the staff were so helpful and polite - not part of a chain and it damn well shows!! Why don't you see for yourselves?!

Would highly recommend! Monday Fish and chips for £4.99 who can complain at that ! Especially when it's freshly cooked infront of you !

Having been stuck in traffic that was even worse than usual, we took a spur of the moment decision to stop at the Hare and eat instead of enduring rising blood pressure. I'm so glad we did. Dinner was just what the doctor ordered and the fun banter with our waitress, Fabbey ensured we really enjoyed our visit and our frustration was replaced with smiles. Excellene service.

Like walking into a nightclub the music was so loud. Sulky staff had to be asked twice to turn it down. Then after 15 minutes we had to ask if they were serving food. 25 minutes later without eating we left. Everyone who came in after us got served whilst we waited and waited and waited and ……. Family had travelled from Bolton. What a nightmare place. I have been using Huntleys for breakfast for years. Never again. Zero Customer Care. They act like customers are a nuisance !
