This is very local to me. I love its 1940/50 look and feel. Very traditional. It is a Fullers pub - they always have good pubs and beer. A garden in the back to enjoy in summer. Plenty of entertainment on here.

We visited this pub while staying in the area. Its a lovely little village pub. A Quite small but friendly pub. The staff are friendly and very reasonably priced. A lovely large garden which I’m sure would be lovely to sit in in the summer. Would certainly return again when we visit the area.

Popped down to the fantastic Murrell Arms on Sunday lunchtime for a few drinks and roast, with all Covid measures properly adhered to. The weather was beautiful so we were able to sit in the spacious and green garden and they were more than happy to bring food to us out there. The roasts themselves were exquisite - absolutely huge meals, brilliant range of meats and a veg option, really great trimmings and a first rate cauliflower cheese too. The pub is one of the most obviously and proudly historic in the area - the walls are covered with memories, paintings, inscriptions and tributes, with a plaque explaining the history and an even higher level of service inside. A genuine atmosphere, not pretentious and a real village pub. Not many pubs like this any more, but thank god the Murrell is still here. Love this place.

Visited twice at lunchtimes in the past few weeks. The only pub in Barnham now, sadly. This pub was legendary for years, mainly because of the family that ran it. That's changed. The first visit; nothing wrong with the beer but the main group at the bar 'ffying loudly with old folks in the bar, including ladies. Bar staff said nothing. I drank up & left. 2nd visit; same thing, largely by regulars, again nothing said. I'm no prude, work in heavy industry & sadly swear too much but not in this environment. Not acceptable in this day & age. Won't be returning unless very thirsty, whilst waiting for a late train again.

Often passed the Murrell Arms and always wanted to stop as looked an interesting pub. Yesterday we went there for lunch and what a fascinating place. It was like a step back in time with archive photos, postcards, newspaper cuttings and tools covering the walls and ceiling. They had a bar game in the public bar that I had never seen or heard of before, after over 50 years of visiting pubs. Ring on the Bull. A metal ring from a Bull's nose is on the end of 6 foot of rope, attached to the ceiling, The player then aims at the bulls head on the wall, trying to get the ring onto a hook by the Bulls nose, the ring swings in a gentle arc towards the bull. One local took 7 attempts then another took 2! The lady behind the bar was very friendly, as were the locals on our side of the bar. A lovely welcome. The small menu was interesting and a client was tucking into a lovely looking Ham, Egg and Chips. We had a Jacket Potato with Cheese and Beans, plus the Ribs and Chicken Wings, recommended by the Barmaid. Both were very good and very tasty, especially my spicy wings and ribs. The only small criticism on the food, is that the tomatoes in both salad accompaniments were rather soft. The only minor criticism of the pub, was that the open fire was not lit on a cold February day. I wish The Murrell Arms was my local, and would love to return soon, to the pub as they used to be. With a good welcome, interesting company and conversation, good beers and unpretentious, traditional, tasty pub food.

Had been in this pub early evening and then tried to return later on to listen to a band. We planned to sit in the outside area as we had a couple of kids with us. Landlord on realising we became very aggressive and quoted some legislation from 2003 that turned out didn’t exist and said legally kids couldn’t be on the premises including the outside area. Law isn’t from 2003 but the one I think he meant relates to unaccompanied children which clearly they weren’t. Obviously at Landlords discretion to allow who he wants in his pub but at least be honest

The pub has been through rather an upheaval in recent years. Following the death of "Merv the Swerve" and retirement of his good lady Daphne, there have been a few landlords/ladies. The latest is a proudly ex-REME (Army) gent who while not on a charm offensive keeps a clean establishment with well maintained beer pipes. Many original faces and some new ones with a lot of former comrades of the landlord now frequenting. Nice atmosphere.

Love this hidden gem. Beautiful cosy gardens and friendly staff. I know this is odd but I really like their wine glasses. Thin rimmed not the thick ones you get in some pubs. Makes all the difference to a cold Savignon Blanc! Food wasn't available but when we asked they kindly let us bring our own fish and chips. Which I think was ingenious, we would have happily paid a cover charge for this service.

Myself and 4 mates called into the Murrell Arms for a quick pint and ended staying there all day. The staff, landlord and regulars treated us with open arms. The chef had left, so one of the locals brought in food, which included lamb chops, roast pots along with loads of extras, all out of kindness, and no money was asked for. There was a raffle, where there was good fresh local meat to be won, then later in the day we played a version of play your cards right. Rhianna, the barmaid was very friendly and the landlord generously got in a round for us. This just does not happen these days, so visit this pub and experience a day with new fiends.

We visited The Murrell Arms Pub yesterday. A beautiful pub in a lovely village. As we walked in the locals greeted us like old friends. We sat in the public bar which is crammed full of old curiosities to look at. Although the menu isn't large there's plenty of food to choose from. I decided on sausages, homemade mash with fresh vegetables and a gorgeous onion gravy. We didn't have to wait a long time for our meals and they were all piping hot! The bar maid/waitress was very friendly and checked with us half way through our meals to see if everything was satisfactory which I always like. At the end of our meal the chef came and spoke to us to ask us about our meal, again a very nice touch. We all enjoyed our lunch in a quaint, homely pub. Some evenings they have live bands on - I will certainly try to come back for that especially in the summer where you can sit in their pretty beer garden. Would throughly recommend this pub to anyone wanting a delicious home cooked meal in cosy surroundings. Can't wait to visit again

Called in on a cold & wet Sunday afternoon. The reception we recieved most certainly warmed us up. The food was very good, but even better than that the Guinness was superb. The landlord (think he was called Joe) really takes pride in his beer & is most welcoming. We were only going to stop for one before driving home, well that didn't last.....I stopped for quite a few (although I did get a stiff ear bashing of the Mrs) it was worth it.This pub is a wonder of 'olde' school Britain, you must visit if only to marvel at the decor & play 'ring the bull' & bar billiards......Will most definately visit again.

My family have been to The Murrell Arms now on several occasions, we found the Pub to be a perfect village retreat; warm, welcoming, clean and safe. The rustic charm of this pub and it's rich local history, set amongst beautiful gardens and an impressive vine garden make The Murrell Arms a perfect escape. The future of the Pub is surely set to be preserved and enhanced with regular live entertainment, auctions, meat raffle, Morris Dancing displays, guest ales and more, most of all, a management team that cares about it's community and the quality of the beer! A finer pint of Guinness I have never had (and I have travelled to Ireland). Joe and Mandy have restored the Pub to a thriving social hub where people can relax with a good drink in good company, and before long you will also be able to enjoy quality food when the kitchen has been completely renovated. The future of The Murrell Arms is in very good hands, and I for one will return through the seasons, to sit and while away the hours in Summer amongst the beautiful gardens and fruit laden vines, through to taking refuge in the Bar in Winter by a warming fire, with quality home cooked food and a great pint, and most of all - a warm welcome. The potential of The Murrell Arms is becoming realized and if you are passing, transiting through the train station, vacationing or simply curious drop in and experience the very best of British.

I must have driven past this pub hundreds of times and never gone in. We wanted a Sunday roast and our usual pub was closed due to an accident. The pub is very rustic on the inside, split into a public and saloon bar. The clientele had clearly got their eye in and had been there for a while. We opted to sit outside and ordered 3 roasts. At £6.95 I felt it was good vaue and with 3 drinks the bill was just shy of £28. The food was tasty and a good portion, we ate and made our way home. I'd return, but I won't linger in the bar.

Been going there for 25 years, long before the new building. It’s always been pricy but the food was good so just paid it. But now it’s £11 for a sandwich with cold chips, and £8 for a slice of cake. Finally voting with my feet on this one. There are far better garden centres nearby where prices are literally half, and the food is much better. Went to Old Barn on A24 and for sandwich, drink and cuppa for two it was £24. Same at Haskins would be about £45
